Oh UD have you tried topping up with formula if he is that hungry? Haven't much advice as not BF but big hugs.

So come on then, how many of you are already frantically punching the ticketmaster hotline for TT tickets even though lines don't open for 10 mins??? Did I mention I have already got mine ;) Hee hee

Had a good night with Jacob. Put to bed at 9pm, woke at 2am and 6am but only literally for change, feed, wind, back down. He goes down awake and settles himself so we are very lucky in that respect. Why oh why can't he do the same during the day?!?!? It's bizarre, he is great from 9pm-8am when I get him up and dressed. Perhaps I should black the windows out and pretend it's permanant night time?

Thanks for the supportive posts - means a lot. I'd go stir crazy without MN. My BF's LO is only 2 weeks younger than J but is an absolute dream child so she can't really sympathise with me although she does try bless her (whilst J is screaming and her LO is wide awake and quiet staring at him in bemusement).

ellieandhattie · 02/03/2007 08:55

Hattie2 · 02/03/2007 09:01

Have got 3 websites open, but all a bit slow. Shopping was booked to arrive between 8 and 9 but not here yet - what's the betting it gets here at 9 on the dot and I'll have no chance of getting through on phone or website by the time it's been sorted?

Bugger - just realised it's 9 already! Shopping late and missed start of ticket sales then ....

Hattie2 · 02/03/2007 09:09

Hooray - got tickets for Fri 30/11!!!

wilkie50 · 02/03/2007 09:37

Oo Hattie - you can join my smug gang

ellieandhattie · 02/03/2007 09:40

JodieG1 · 02/03/2007 10:14

Can't get through on the phone and website is busy, keep getting errors

Lizzzombie · 02/03/2007 11:26

Urban - I make my DP sleep in the spare room (yet to turn into nursery) as I cant handle his snoring. I can still hear it through the wall - which really irritates me at 3am when feeding LO! But its the only way I get any sleep. Also, have found Dylan doing the same recently - emptying both boobs and wanting more. Have to say I am a bad mother and let him scream for it.
Made a discovery last night that may help though, have a couple of glasses of wine, then feed him, Dylan slept from 12 - 5.30am! The longest ever! Of course my own body clock is up the creek entirely I and I was up inbetween that. Doh!

Lizzzombie · 02/03/2007 11:36

I've got FUCKING mastitis again, has anyone tried PHYTOLACCA tablets? (a homeopathic remedy). I also have a FUCKING urinary infection thing. I feel to shit to even get to the shop to buy more chocolate. I only have cooking chocotlate in the fridge. Its foul. I am NOT happy!

Dragonhart · 02/03/2007 11:43

Hope everyone is ok, sorry it has been so long. Seem to have spent the last few days/weeks of dd2 crying when I am doing stuff for ds1 and ds1 crying/winging when I have to feed/change dd2! Its a whirlwind of winging! AHHH!

Sorry you have been so blue wilkie. I know everyone says it but it really does get better! Spent the first few months with ds feeling totally awful for feeling overwhelmed by ds the cring feeding and sleeping (or not!!). Used to get so angry with ds then felt guilty for it. Luckily I could talk to mum and dh which really made me feel better. Then, as someone else said when he started sleeping through and responding more to me it got loads better and I felt so much better and happier. Hope you do too. xxx

Urban sorry you had a bad night! Hope he is just growing and sleeps better tonight. ruth has been doing the same over the last couple of days (but luckily in the day rather than the night!) and I feel like a milk machine! Oh and I think that we should be excused for battering our dh to death for snoring when feeding at night!! I always wake dh and tell him to stop snoring, then he rolls over and starts snoring again

Anyone know if it is bad for our lo to spend alot of time in a bouncy chair? I have it on the lowest setting, which seems totally flat along her back but tilted up slightly. Makes all the difference to her as she cries alot less and either sleeps or watched what is going on but not sure if it is bad for her back?

Dragonhart · 02/03/2007 11:45

Took so long to type that message with dd crying- sorry about the mastitis lizz . I ate chocolate spread yesterday as had no chocolate! Also resorted to eating jam to get that sugar high! None as good as choc though!

laughalot · 02/03/2007 16:46

Got tickets for the 17/11 at birmingham I cant wait I love take that.

Well the laughalot household is still poorly my dh has now started with the runs so it looks like a good wekend for us NOT !!!

Lizz sorry to hear about the mastitis hope it clears up soon.

Hattie2 · 02/03/2007 16:55

Sorry to hear about the illness laughalot - hope you're back to living up to your name soon.

Lizz - about the mastitis, fingers crossed you can get rid of it asap

EAH, Jodie and any other sad TT fans - any luck on the phone for tickets?

Wilkie - how was the CO appt today?

I went out for lovely lunch today with the girlies (and ds of course!) and he slept all the way through in a fairly noisy restuarant for 2.5 hours, it was great . Since we got home he has been lying on his playmat on the floor (40 minutes now) and is still smiling and gurgling. Think I need to go out to lunch everyday if it has this affect on him!

Shimmer · 02/03/2007 18:05

to the TT tickets Wilkie and Hattie and anyone else who got through this morning!!

Hope the CO went well Wilkie and LO is having a better day today. I just looked up "green baby poo" on google(seriously!) because Freddie's on SMA too but his poo is more yellow (but also pretty sloppy), but apparently it doesn't really make any difference what colour it is... says normal baby poo can be anything from "light yellow to bright green". Does say that if its very "frothy" and frequent there could be a virus. But 1 a day sounds perfectly normal to me. So thats not really very helpful...sorry... is that enough about poo???

Freddie went through a stage a little while ago of being really grumpy in the daytime but fine at night too. He got over it in a few days though and the main things I changed were really trying to be consistent about his routine in the daytime and also started feeding him a bit more. He does get really whiney and fussy when he's not getting enough milk, although i did have to guess that's what was wrong with him, it wasn't at all obvious. He's on 5oz every 3 hours(but he is a mighty 1lbs already)and I think is only a few days older than J.

Sorry to hear about the mastitis and uti Lizz. I had uti's LOADS before i was pregnant and used to really suffer with it. Had antibiotics for them several times...which obviously never worked. Then the whole 9 months i was preggers i was completely fine, then yesterday i felt the old twinge again and am now terrified they're going to come back.

wilkie50 · 02/03/2007 18:13

Thanks for the info Shimmer (we'll pretend you didn't really google 'green baby poo'). Unfortunately J has been like this for about 3 weeks now. Bought Aptamil today in Asda to try. Going to start him on it tomorrow rather than this evening in case he takes a while to get used to it.

J has been taking 5oz today every 3 hours. He only had one night feed last night though which was good.

Appointment with CO disappointing. He hasn't been any different this afternoon, still screaming and cranky.

Lizz & Laughalot - hope illnesses clear up soon

Lizzzombie · 02/03/2007 19:00

Just felt the need to share this with the group - my left tit is entirely bright red. This homeopathic remedy had better work with nurofen and gin too!

RGee · 02/03/2007 19:13

Lizz - sounds awful Get well soon

theUrbanDryad · 02/03/2007 19:21

evening all - apologies for my very cranky and post this morning, i felt so awful...Z had been screaming for hours and i was literally pulling my hair out! went to the baby cafe today though, which was really nice - everyone was very friendly and helpful. spoke to the la leche league advisor (which, by the way is pronouced "la lesh-ay" not "la lesh" as i thought!) and she said that milk supply doesn't ever stop, and as long as he is suckling, he's getting milk i had no idea!! she also said that babies tend to feed constantly in the evening as it stimulates milk supply - basically it's just his way of making sure there;s going to be milk tomorrow. so i've had him on me pretty much constantly since 4 this afternoon, and we shall see if it makes a difference tonight. i feel a lot more positive than i did, so that's got to be a good thing.

lizzz - you poor thing, hope you feel better soon.

dragonhart - AFAIK it doesn't do any harm for LO's to be in a bouncy chair. but then what do i know? i know zac much prefers to be on his back under the baby gym, so we've consigned the chair to the dining room. i can't wait till Z is old enough to go in that bouncy sling thing you put up in the doorway!

wilkie - hope the next CO appt goes a bit better for you, for what it's worth i think it can take up to 6 weeks to have any effect. did you try the skin-to-skin to calm him? my GP also suggested taking a bath with them to soothe them. don't know if that's any help.....

well, Z has gone to sleep like a charm, we shall see how tonight goes. keep fingers crossed!!

ellieandhattie · 02/03/2007 20:06

UD glad you are feeling better

wilkie sorry CO didnt have as muc effect as last week but stick with it and good luck with swapping formula tomorrow (it may take a day or two for himto get used to it)

I Got my take that tickets spent 2 hours phoning from 3 phones all engaged evry website kept crashing so phoned my best friend and said think I am going to have to give up as bottles needed to be done etc etc anyway best friend picked her dd up from preschool got home and they had added the extra dates and she happened to be on a website as they did it and got us tickets for thurs 6th dec in london yippeeee.

On my own with the dd's tonight as 'd'h has gone on his boys day out for his friends 30th he was coming home but I knew he'd annoy me and they are going to a place about 2 minute walk from his mums so he is going to stay there (if he makes it there if not he'll be on someones sofa) feels weird as havent been on my own at night since hattie been born, normally I would put ellie in my bed so we'd snuggle up and if she woke up I wouldnt have to move but can't do that as I'll need to do the night feed.

Had a lovely afternoon at best friends house ellie and her dd played nicley (most of the time) she cooked us roast chicken for tea (yum yum) and ellie had her bath there so fell asleep on the way home and hopefully will sleep all night.

annieapple7 · 02/03/2007 22:03

UD - I am using formula when I give a bottle. It works like a charm, the last two nights she has had a bottle at 10pm, slept from 11pm to (don't lynch me!) - 6.30am!!

I woke up woth a start and looked in the moses basket to see if she was still alive!

She was also not sick after the bottles when she is sick after breast milk.

Am I the only person who can't use breast pumps? I have the medela electric one amd yesterday managed to get (out of a very full boob) - 1 oz! That was very useful. Lauren sicks more than that back up after a feed.

UD - perhaps you could keep some breast milk in the freezer to top up if he' still hungry. Not sure about the if they are suckling they are getting milk - if they are screaming with hunger how can they be? Perhaps he is having a growth spurt, then they want to feed all the time.

Poor Lizz - thinking of your sore boob - breast feeding ain't for wimps is it? What greater love hath a mother for her baby to endure all this??

But when it works it is fab. I do love seeing her little face munching away.

Wilkie - sorry if someone else had suggested this, but have you tried one of thos eold fashioned hammock type slings to soothe Jacob? Looks a killer for your back, but if it works it would be worth it!

Good luck tonight everyone! Sending sleepy baby vibes!

RGee · 03/03/2007 08:06

Morning all!
UD, Wilkie, Lizz- hope you all had peaceful, healthy and stress free nights.

I had another pretty good night, altough lo has a cold and huge bogies are blocking her air way sd she snorted most of the night.

Annie - it sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I could only express 1oz each time I tried. Formula has turned my baby from a constant cryer to a constant smiler, and she still gets about 3 boobs a day too, so I'm not sore anymore too.

Have a good weekend!

ellieandhattie · 03/03/2007 08:42

for anyone with snotty/blocked nose babies you can buy saline drops over the counter from pharmacy put one drop
up each nostril before a feed and it helps clear their nose to enable them to feed properly

I bought this yesterday, going to collect it at 10.30 as only 10mins from me, borrowed one from a friend for ellie and she loved it but friend has sold it now, am hoping I'll be able to resell when hattie doesnt want it anymore
baby swing

theUrbanDryad · 03/03/2007 09:06

morning all!

well Z woke up every 2 hours for a feed in the night, but settled as soon as he'd had it, and i managed to fall asleep with him on the boob most times. feel ok today - although did have weird dreams about my HV trying to force me to see a psychiatrist! don't think i need to bother to interpret that - buried fear anyone?

wilkie50 · 03/03/2007 09:39

You sound better UD! Glad you had an OK night.

We started J o the Aptamil last night and he took it no problems. How long do you think the SMA will take to get out of his system?

He is definately more settled this morning but that could be the CO or the formula. We'l see. I'm not getting too excited this time.

Was giving him gaviscon for his reflux which worked brilliantly but was making him constipated so have knocked it off until he is settled on Aptamil then I a going to try it again but with a lower dose.

Have been trying to upload a pic of him to my profile with a big cheesy grin on his face but it keeps erroring. Any ideas?

Lizz - hope your titty is better today.

RGee - I second the saline drops. My sisters twins had really blocked noses and the saline drops really worked. I used to be in bogey heaven as these huge green lumps would come out of their noses for me to pick (think Wilkie needs to get out more!!)
