Couldn't find a thread already going so let's get one started!

My DS2 was born 11/09/2016 19.51 weighing 8lb 7oz.

I already have DS1 aged 3 who has just started nursery school in the mornings.

Beautiful Charlotte Emily was born at 11:41am on Mon 19th by emergency c-section and weighed a whopping 11lb!

She's in intensive care at the mo and I'm still in hospital, so it's all been quite emotional to be honest.

Congratulations Sophie, hope she is ok and getting better? Flowers for you, it must be very stressful at the moment. She has a beautiful name! If we'd had a girl she would have been Emily Charlotte. Hope you are recovering well too.

Have had a rough night with DS. He slept from 11- 1 and then was awake until 6.35am. He was whingy but not really crying from 1 til he finally fell asleep. I tried everything and nothing would settle him. He's currently fast asleep but I have had to get up as ds1 has a party this morning. Hoping ds2 stays awake for some of today so that he sleeps tonight.

Had a better night last night with DS but have come down with a cold, which I could do without. Feeling very rough and just hoping DS2 doesn't come down with it as he's still so tiny. DH is back to work on Tuesday which I am not looking forward to. Trying to arrange things for next week so I have stuff to look forward to but not having much luck so far!

There seems to be a lot of it about at the moment Jen. DS2 has been very unsettled the last couple of days so I wonder if he's coming down with it. His temperature is normal though. He will only settle lying on my chest at the moment (which is a good excuse to lounge on the sofa while DH has to do stuff!).

I am a bit worried about having to try to get both DS's ready and get DS1 to school on my own on Tuesday. I'm sure once I've done it a few times I'll be fine, I just feel nervous at the moment! Am quite looking forward to having some time with just me and DS2 though.

Have managed to have a sleep on the sofa this afternoon as trying to shake off this cold. My swollen feet seem to have gone down at last, but still have carpal tunnel. The spd is better than it was, although not completely gone. I felt like I could walk a bit easier today. Still look like I'm about 5 months pregnant though! I can't remember how long it took for the bump to go last time.

How is everyone else doing?

DS was born Friday night, so I guess I'd better join in!

We have a DS already who isn't quite 2 yet and he's been fantastic with the baby but poor lad has had D&V since Friday I.e. since the day of the birth - worst timing imaginable. So we are very worried now DD will get it from him as it's impossible to prevent, really. There are a thousand tiny points of contact. His last puke was last night, I'm praying it's over but who knows. And even then they stay contagious for 48 hrs afterwards.

So can you tell I'm a little anxious at the moment?? Confused

The sleep deprivation isn't helping. I'm finding you can't doze on the sofa like last time with baby, not with a clingy toddler. So my sleep is limited to night tjme and it was the glorious total of 2 hrs last night.

Having a lot of trouble with night time latching which makes the early hours very fraught and a bit weepy. But then she latches no problem during the day, what's that about????!

Oh wait, that was a typo. I'm so used to typing DS! It was a little DD we had, not a DS!

Morning all - gate crashing and joining in.

Finlay was born 16/09 by c section at 9:05am. Had already been in hospital 5 days at that point and in total we had a 9 day stay which ruined me Sad

Off to get him registered today, trying to rouse DP...

Congratulations Anna and Butt. Have had a rough couple of days here; DH went back to work yesterday and DS has refused to sleep unless I am holding him. If I put him down I get just about enough time to nip to the loo before he starts crying. As a result, I've got nothing done at all and have sat on the sofa nearly all day. He is making a strange noise when feeding which the health visitor has said to get checked out by the GP, so we have an appointment later this afternoon. He had been feeding really well but today has only been taking 10ml or so at a time.

Congratulations guys.

millie have you tried a sling? Iv heard they can be good if baby just wants to be held all the time.

DH went back to work Monday and me and the DC have got into a good routine which is what i was worrying about. Have been givibg DS a bittle of formula at 11pm and he's only waking once at night for a feed meaning both DH and I are getting some sleep which always helps

MillieMoodle · 30/09/2016 08:14

Jen I haven't got a sling but have been looking into it. There is a sling library in my nearest town which I am going to go to on Monday to see if I can hire a couple to test drive.

DS2 has come down with my cold which I think is why he was so clingy the other day. He slept nearly all day yesterday and had an ok night. He's so bunged up and snuffly though. Have been using saline spray to try to ease the congestion for him as he's too little for anything else. Also got one of those snot sucker things which has helped a little bit. Hopefully he will be a bit better today.

DH has had the last couple of days off work so I haven't been able to get into a routine at all (or get any sleep!).

Hi everyone - just checking in. Day 13 for my beautiful DS - feeding well but not back to his birth weight - he is slowly getting there so I'm not worried. Did the school pick today by myself - ended up carrying two book bags, two lunch bags and dd2 had made cakes that she was determined to give me. dd1 also came home with a cornet Confused. Going to register him on Monday

Did anyone else have the baby blues? I had a massive slump today - Day 9 which is coincidentally the same day the last time! Im hoping it is a 24 hr blip.

DD is feeding quickly, and since I have a oversupply I'm struggling to get her to the fatty hind milk. Her poos are starting to go a bit green which usually means she's stopping too early. So am really watching the clock and trying to achieve 15 mins, and only feeding off one boob at a time. The other boob gets so tender though! I'd forgotten how painful it all is!

MillieMoodle · 02/10/2016 21:26

Yes Anna I had the baby blues around day 4/5 for a couple of days and then was very tearful in the evenings for a week or so after that. Still having moments where I could just cry for no reason but it seems to be just when I'm really tired. Hope you're feeling better soon Flowers

DS still has a cold which I am hoping he will get over in the next day or so as he's really snuffly, especially at night and it's horrible not really being able to do anything about it for him.

Am having my first glass of wine tonight though! Yay!

I felt tipsy after one glass of Pinot and it made me so tired! I had another glass on Monday night but didn't bother last night.

How are everyone's little ones? DS had a hip scan today but his hips are fine so that's a relief. We also had DH's parents over to visit. No plans for tomorrow apart from a walk to the shop to get some stamps!

DS hates having his bum done and having a bath. Screams the place down. Any suggestions to help?

I have the exciting task of doing the washing tomorrow Sad nipped out to the shops today so a bit of a more relaxed day for us

Report
Annarose2014 · 05/10/2016 19:33

Honestly? Don't bother with baths just yet. Put some water & suds in a bowl and get a sponge and wipe him over. They usually freak at baths at this age. Last time I stopped, traumatised, at around this stage, and just did sponge baths for another month. So this time I haven't even bothered with the proper bath.

DD is refusing to be put down unless in deep sleep. Today I ventured out to register her and was very glad to have a sling!

Report
MillieMoodle · 05/10/2016 21:22

Anna what sling have you got? I need to get one as DS goes mad if I put him down. The longest I get before he wakes up is 10 mins during the day.

Jen I have just been washing DS with a sponge. His belly button still hasn't healed and the midwife said I couldn't bath him until it was healed. I suspect he's got a granuloma like ds1 had but midwife and health visitor both said he hasn't. We'll see what they say at the 6 week check (which I need to book!)

Well I have the Ergo cos we had it before. I bought the newborn insert for it in anticipation of DD and she was very snuggly in it today.

It's a great sling because it has buckles which can be pre-set so no faffing. And comfy wide padded straps. But it's more designed for a bigger child than a newborn as it's a big sling.

I've heard great things about the close caboo especially for newborns but since we had this already I couldn't justify it.

DD has just puked ALL OVER ME in bed. Have had to change every stitch of both of us and the bedclothes. She's doing alien projectile spews every day. I'm running out of clothes!

Hi all- DS2 was born on Sunday and as this is DC3 made the decision to have no visitors for a week and just hole up in bed feeding and having skin on skin and it has been amazing- I thoroughly recommend! Congrats to everyone and their babbas.

Iv borrowed a sling off my friend (no idea what it is though) used it the otger weekend when we went for a walk in the forest and DS seemed comfy enough.

I have had a letter with my 6 week check appointment albeit it will be more like a 8 week check but its with the gorgeous dr at our surgery, really hoping he wont need to have a look down there Blush
