Couldn't find a thread already going so let's get one started!

My DS2 was born 11/09/2016 19.51 weighing 8lb 7oz.

I already have DS1 aged 3 who has just started nursery school in the mornings.

That's great millie. Whatever you can give him is great! Mines just having a bottle of expressed milk. I'm so tired and selfishly hope he will sleep with a full belly! I think I'm at my most tired today so far. Hope everyone manages a bit of sleep tonight.

First feed of the night here and we went to bed at 10 so not bad! Just hoping he settles back down after this because last night he did this and then wouldn't go back to sleep for two hours...

Had an ok night, DS settled about midnight then woke at 2am and 4am. DH was snoring from another room Angry so I shut the door and DS slept until nearly 7.30am! Feel so much better to have had 3 hours or so in a block of sleep!

5 day check today. Has anyone's else's lo's cord stump fallen off yet? DS's came off yesterday but I seem to remember ds1's took about 2 weeks to fall off and took forever to heal properly. The midwife did say it would come off quicker cos of the warm weather but I wasn't expecting this quick. His belly button is still healing though, so I'm wondering if he has a granuloma like ds1 had. Will ask them at the hospital later on.

Morning millie we have our 5 day check too today. DS still has his clip and cord attached but i remember DDs falling off really quick. I think we got a 3hr stretch last night. I have been topping up DS with formula as hes just constantly hungry and rooting for food. My boobs are killing me too so not sure how much longer ill continue to feed him for.

Everyone in our house is still asleep apart from me Sad DH was awake once in the night but he slept through most of DS crying Angry

Well after the four hour sleep he did settle again and was up every two hours until 9am which is pretty good. My dd is still in bed too which is a bit of a result! My dh sleeps through the night feeds but as there isn't much he can do and if I wake him up to do a nappy or get a drink for me he will do without any grumbling (next week he might grumble as he's back at work!)

Cord is off here too came off about a week ago I think so ds would have been about a week old.

So the midwife has just been for the 5 day check and heel prick. She was really impressed that baby had only lost 4oz since birth. I honestly thought he'd have lost more as i didn't think he was getting enough. DS was a little star with his heel prick and didnt even flinch Smile

We have just got back from the hospital for DS's 5 day check. He's lost almost 2oz. He was very angry at having his heel pricked and he made his feelings known! He also weed all over the scales. Grin

Had another weigh in today at day 7, after gaining weight (20g) on day 5 he has lost weight again today (70g). Midwife thinks that my milk supply is probably low (had massive issues with DS1 and his weight loss and gaining again, I have PCOS so your milk amount can be affected massively by that! I never ever get engorged or painful hard boobs). She has advised to feed him off my own breast that I'm able to BF off (right is far too sore and painful to attempt to bf!) and then express for 10mins off each side and give this to him afterwards to try and top up the amount he is getting. I burst into tears as I really thought we might be able to actually BF successfully this time after we seemed to crack the latch yesterday. He is being weighed again in 2 days, if his weight hasn't improved or started to improve then we will have to start adding in formula top ups.

Glad everyone else seems to be doing well!

Eurgh had a horrible headache for most of today that hasnt really shifted with paracetamol Sad thinking it may be horemone related?

For those ladies with overdue babies have you found that babys skin is really dry? DS seems to be shedding his skin like a snake. Slathered him in coconut oil to try and help.

Report
MillieMoodle · 18/09/2016 22:26

Oh no Jen hope you manage to shift the headache. Yes I have found DS's skin is really dry. The midwife we saw today said to cover him in olive oil which I am going to try tomorrow. He's also got really long nails so going to try cutting them a bit tomorrow.

Have felt pretty good today, but the tiredness has just hit me and DS has decided he doesn't want to settle at the moment!

Morning all

DD was weighed yesterday and she too only lost 4 oz. Pretty sure it's the relentless overnight cluster feeding to thank for that!

Boobs are so sore. Worse than c section! Reminds me why I hated breastfeeding last time. Not sure why I thought it would be different this time around and not sure how long I will last tbh.

Baby blues have hit also and today we have to leave the house for DDs hip scan. Not looking forward to that !

Hope you all had better nights.

I had a terrible headache at about 6 days pp Jen just keep an eye make sure it isn't mastitis - no lumpy boob or anything?

Ds skin very dry too I haven't done anything about it yet! Think I'm too exhausted to even think about it...dh did put ds in the bath a few days ago though.

Ds is two weeks old today. Currently asleep on me in bed but I have to get up to take dd to nursery soon. I'm so tired! He almost did a 5 hour stretch last night but then was up every hour after that.

Brew !!

Morning all

Had a pretty good night last night. DS slept 11-1.30, 2-5 and 5.45-7 so am feeling quite human!

Spd seems to be easing a little bit too, I managed to sleep on my side last night for the first time since he was born. Although it was painful to stand up this morning so not sure what is going on with my pelvic bones! Have got chiropractor on Wednesday again so hoping she can sort things out a bit easier now there's no bump in the way.

I keep thinking that I haven't felt any movement in my bump for a while and then suddenly remember that's because the little wriggler is here now! My bump was quite painful towards the end as the skin was so stretched and it was so heavy, but I miss it a bit now as it's probably the last one I'll ever have!

Hope everyone had a decent night Smile

Morning. foxes never thought of mastitis but i did have a very hard boob yesterday so i expressed and it cleared but my headach didnt go.

Put DS down at 10.30 and he only woke at 4.30 for a feed Grin he had a good feed then woke at 7am. Feel so much better for a good nights sleep. At 4.30 i had some paracetamol abd a pint of water as i could tell my headache was still lingering but it seems to have almost gone now.

Id forgotten about baby blues when do they usually kick in? Iv been a little emotional but not much so i reckon im due the blues soon Confused

MillieMoodle · 19/09/2016 08:27

I had baby blues on day 3/4 and still feel emotional in the evenings when I'm tired but I think they've been much easier this time round as not breastfeeding (and also I'm not ill like last time either). Maybe you've missed them?!

Report
foxessocks · 19/09/2016 08:50

I didn't really get baby blues either just extreme irritability the last few days thatasts a few hours then I'm ok! Think it is just tiredness catching up on me.

Off to do the nursery run for the first time on my own!

foxessocks · 19/09/2016 09:31

Ok now I'm properly emotional. Dd cried when I dropped her off and I could heat her saying "I want mummy back!" Sad

Oh foxes our DC certainly know how to pull on our heartstrings dont they. I can guarantee you that as soon as you'd left she would be off playing with her friends. I used to work in a nursery and would see it on a daily basis, although i know it doesnt make it any easier for you.

If im honest Im dreading the nursery run on my own next week.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

I took DS1 into school for the first time in a week (left DS2 and DH in the car) so it was nice to see some mum friends. Then we went and did a bit of Christmas shopping for DS1 and our nephews. Then went to collect DS1 from school. He was so excited his baby brother had come to pick him up! Just done homework, dinner, bedtime and now thinking about an early night as I'm so tired!

I'm finding that I feel really emotional in the evenings, I'm not sure why but I just want to cry. I'm not sure whether I'm happy or sad or both. Does anyone else get this?

I walked to nursery with DD and DH this morning then I also did some christmas shopping too millie Grin i braved the toyshop with 20% off and survived Shock picked DD up from nursery then had a relaxing afternoon doing a craft activity with her then looked through the toyshop catalogue.

I expressed some breastmilk yesterday and DD fed it to DS earlier. It was the cutest thing iv ever seen and my heart melted seeing how good she is with him. I worried so much before he was born about her feeling oushed out but she has been amazing and taken it all in her stride i think the presents shes been getting have helped lol

Hi everyone - just checking in and graduating from the ante-natal thread.

DS born at home on Saturday. My milk has only just come in today. Bit annoyed that they weighed him today (day 4) as haven't had time to stuff him full of milk yet. He has lost 10% of his body weight and MW talking about a plan etc and coming back to weigh tomorrow. In my view he is healthy, alert, got lots of wet and dirty nappies. I breast fed my other DDs for a year each so would consider myself a seasoned pro - I think this strict guidelines sticking is unhelpful and makes mothers anxious. Sorry for the rant but this is what I was thinking when she spent 20 minutes talking about a plan...

Have had a busy couple of days, went to register DS's birth today so he's all official now Grin also had a look round the shops in town while we were there. Yesterday did a bit of shopping too and I saw my chiropractor who sorted out the spd again. Tomorrow I have got the midwife coming for our 10 day check. Saturday DS1 has a birthday party. Sunday we will need a rest I think! Monday is DH's last day of paternity leave, I really wish he had a bit more time off as I've enjoyed spending time with him the last couple of weeks.

Am feeling a bit sore and uncomfortable today which has surprised me as I've been feeling ok for the last couple of days. Maybe I've overdone it with walking. DS is doing well, although we've noticed he gets a bit windy and uncomfortable in the evenings.

How is everyone else and their little ones?

Morning! So I've been in my own little world and sadly have to rejoin and stop being a hermit.

Dd is a week old today. Currently crashed out across my lap whilst I try get the energy to take us back to bed. Bf is going really well other than I can't seem to do it in my bedroom and have to go in the front room every time.

Hope everyone is OK, will go back and read the thread now I just needed to mark my place! Grin
