Nice to hear from you sher and vroc! Sher I think it's quite normal to have a lot of colds if your DS has two older sisters - they'll be carrying all sorts of germs and bugs!

vroc I have definitely contemplated tying DS down too ... mainly when I'm trying to get him to sleep in his cot and he just rolls over and stands up!

Poor DS is both teething (he is still yet to get his first tooth) and has a nasty sounding cough and cold. He is not napping well at all - today he had four naps of 20 mins, 30 mins, 40 mins and 20 mins! I wish he would get back into the routine of two decent length naps but it just isn't happening at the moment. Thankfully he is still sleeping ok at night though I won't be surprised if I'm disturbed tonight as he has been very grizzly all day bless him.

Hmmm car seats..... DD is almost out of the baby car seat and ds is almost 3 so my plan has always been to move dd into ds's old group 1 seats and buy combination 1/2/3 seats for ds (we will need one for us and one for mil). This will mean that dd will be forward facing but I can't afford 4 new car seats and erf wasn't a thing when ds was a baby!

I was hoping to get a black Friday deal but typically this morning i have realised that I need to do more research. I was planning on getting the graco milestone as have heard good things about it but I don't think its isofix and faffing with seatbelts every time we take it in and out for the next 9 years doesn't sound appealing. I know loads of you are much more organised than me and had this discussion ages ago but i didn't pay enough attention so what did you all get in the end and has anyone got a good combination seat fir older dc's.

TheM3ShipsCameSailingIn · 25/11/2016 18:25

MrsElls - We have a Britax 1-2-3 evolva plus for DS (4.5y) that goes in the PIL's car. It's very well rated and currently on sale for under £100 on amazon. It is a seatbelt fix, but that's only a pain for another year or so until your DS is old enough to use it as a booster. I got pretty good at getting it in and out of the PIL's car with the seatbelt attachment, only took a few minutes. Isofix seats tend to be a bit pricier.

DomesticAnarchist · 25/11/2016 19:38

We've got a maxi cost axissfit - isofix one that turns to the side to put the baby in/out. It's only a group 0+-1, but is rear-facing to 2 years or something.

It's more expensive than the evolva (group 1-2-3). We've got DS1 in the evolva though (got it when he was 4 as he's a little dude, still less than 18kg at 5.5yrs).

The axissfit does look smart though! And the swivelling seat is a revelation compared to posting DS2 into the britax first class plus in my car! (Also a really good seat-belt secured extended rear facing seat).

I think we might be sorted for car seats now though. Hopefully we can thin the collection out as we go and not have to buy any more!

Trinpy · 25/11/2016 22:08

MrsElls I had that exact same problem with 2yr old ds who I worked out will be 18kg in another 6 months or so. Seemed like such a waste to buy a second group 1 carseat for ds2 and I didn't feel comfortable with putting a 2.5 year old in group 2/3. I got the Evolva and I really like it. Very comfortable, easy to move between cars if you need to and ds loves the cup holder! Its on offer a lot if you don't mind shopping around. I think I paid about £65 for mine. The only negative I've found is the buckle is quite stiff on mine - I managed to flip the nail right back off my thumb once trying to undo it Confused.

Maybebabybee · 26/11/2016 07:23

Hello everyone!!! Hope you and all your babies are well. Not been on for absolutely ages - will read back and catch up.

DS was 8 months on the 16th. We are crawling here, though commando style with his left arm tucked under him. Are there any other one armed crawlers in the group??

MrsElls · 26/11/2016 11:19

Ouch trinpy that sounds painful! Basically I should have bought either the milestone or the evolva yesterday, oh well.

We have C's christening tomorrow and have stupidly invited 65 people back to our house after. For anyone thinking I live in a mansion remove that image from your mind and replace it with a Victorian semi, we have a gazebo and patio heater by the back door, all the drinks are going to be outside to try to encourage some people to brave standing outside for a bit! It is lovely that so many people want to mark the occasion though.

Me624 · 27/11/2016 14:45

Hope the christening went well MrsElls! You are brave having that many people! We had about 25 for DS's christening and I bought all the food in from M&S because I couldn't bear the thought of making hundreds of sandwiches. Did the rain stay away for you?

Maybe not my DS but there is a baby in our baby sensory group who commando crawls with one arm tucked under him, he does look funny bless him. Another baby crawls with one leg and drags the other one after him. Between them they could make a full crawl! They all get there in their own time.

I can't believe DS is going to be 9 months next week! It's gone so fast.

DomesticAnarchist · 27/11/2016 16:54

Oh, if babies are coming up to 9 months isn't it going to be Zack's birthday soon? Is MissiKat around? (Have I got the right name?!) What a year they've had!

FirstTimeMummy25 · 27/11/2016 21:35

Hope everyone has had a good weekend and Hope the christening went well Ellis.
DS will be 9 months on 3rd me it's so bloody scary how fast it's all gone!
DS had a viral thing last week and was ok this week but has not been himself this weekend really sleepy and seeming as though he's in pain took his temp tonight and it was 39.8 so called 111 for some advice they are getting a doc to call me back within 6 hours. I've put him to bed in our room tonight so I can keep an eye. Bless him feel awful for him.

1frenchfoodie · 27/11/2016 22:19

Hope christening and party went well *MrsE, that is a fair crowd, hope the weather held for you. It was uncharacteristicaly sunny here - good job though as we woke up to a broken boiler this am and the plumber can't come until tomorrow pm.

Hope out of hours help FTM, we had our first experience of 111 and out of hours this weekend and it was vey smooth. Dd has sone sort of bacterial infection along with raging cold, cough, temperature and (apparently viral) conjunctivitis. She is clingy, off solids and crying in a heatwrenching hoarse way. Unfortunately she had a reaction to the antibiotics prescribed on sat so added a full body rash to her syptoms and we were back at out of hours on sunday first thing for new antibiotics.

Dd was only 8 months last week, funny to think she has still spent more time in my belly than out in the wide world. Being pregnant feels so long ago!

Missikat · 27/11/2016 23:46

Hey Dom you're spot on...Zach's birthday is today! Just had a mammoth catch up on the last month or so of the thread. I can't believe it's been a year! The last two weeks have been particularly strange as my memories of the time from going into hospital until his birth two weeks later are so vivid, I can't believe a year has already passed by. You ladies were a brilliant support to me during that time and after his birth and I'm sorry I've not had so much time to keep up with you recently!

Z is doing brilliantlyGrin. He's still tiny - just coming out of 3-6 month clothes into 6-9 which mostly still swamp him - at about 16lb, but perfectly formed! He's sitting, but no other movement yet but chatting constantly! It's interesting to hear that some of you have movers and others talkers. Z is definitely a talker with lots of mumum, dadada, yeahyeah, nnnnnn not aimed at anyone yet but great to hear all the same. Dom, I'm pleased to hear you're still squeezing DS2 into his Snuzpod. I was going to ask
If any babies were still in theirs as I know a few of us had them. Z is still in
His although I have just bought a new mattress for second hand cot we've been given but as at the mo he still spends pretty much the rest of the night after first wake in our bed with my boob in his mouth, I don't think I can bear the thought of going into another room just yet. I hope the rest of your babes are doing well, won't be long before they're all turning 1 too! Xx

DomesticAnarchist · 28/11/2016 06:12

Ah, that was lucky! Happy Birthday Z!

He's the same size as my friends twins, born at 37 weeks 2 days before DS2. They're also only just sitting. So Z sounds spot on!

MrsElls · 28/11/2016 06:41

Ah happy birthday Z, I wasn't on the thread when he was born but I can imagine that everyone rallied round to support in any way they could.

C's christening was lovely, we had 14 people cancel on the day which eased the pressure on the house and the rain kept away so people did make it outside, the patio heater was a great success! Quite a few sandwiches left because of the no shows, someone suggested I freeze them, apparently people do that as a timesaving thing? Never heard of frozen sandwiches myself but I've given it a go, if the first batch don't defrost well I a can always chuck them later.

DomesticAnarchist · 28/11/2016 07:51

Freezing sandwiches is brilliant, MrsElls! I've got tiny finger sandwiches in the freezer for making DS2's packed lunch. And when DS2 was tiny and I was doing the school run I had a heap of sandwiches for DS1 in the freezer. Just had to remember to move one to the fridge sometime in the morning and he'd have a snack ready for when we got home from school (and DS2 would immediately need feeding). They're good if lunches are left unrefrigerated too, they slowly defrost till lunchtime.

Trinpy · 28/11/2016 20:56

Happy Birthday for yesterday Z! And always nice to hear how you're both getting along Missi.

How are the poorly babies french and FTM?

Glad the christening went well MrsElls.

Ds2 has a cough and is really wheezy at the moment. His sleep has been crap the past2 nights and I couldnt get him to sleep tonight at all. He's currently clawing at my face with his super scratchy nails. Ouch.

QforCucumber · 29/11/2016 08:12

Ooo frozen sandwiches sound interesting - can you do that with all fillings? I like the idea of finger ones ready to grab for packed lunches (not that there's any space in the freezer now we've started on Xmas food)
Busy week here - today I am 30! Argh! And tomorrow I start my new job, hasn't kicked in yet so doesn't seem too real at the moment.
We have a climbing crawler, with a big black bruise on his eyebrow. I almost cried the poor boy. His crawled straight into the radiator, keep thinking how he could have poked out his eye.

missi a whole year has passed, so glad he's doing so well it's amazing it really is.

Ref car seat we bought the maxi cosi assixfix in the black Friday sales - it's rf and forward facing, has a 360 degrees spin and is isofix so hopefully be good to use in my 3 door car.

MrsElls · 29/11/2016 09:05

Happy Birthday Q! Don't worry too much about his bruise, it might be his first but unfortunately it definitely won't be his last!

C has just discovered our stairs, I let her climb the bottom two with me hovering behind her but then she sat up on her knees and almost toppled backwards, definitely need to dig out a stair gate! Our bannister only starts on the second step though so she will always be able to get to the first, will need eyes in the back of my head.

1frenchfoodie · 29/11/2016 10:47

Poorly baby better, thanks fir askinh trinpy, terrible nappy rash and spots round mouth but wider rash is down and she is a little brighter. Still up 3x in the night but that has been the new norm for a week or so. Main concern now is fact we have had no central heating since sat, plumber diagnosed fault yesterday and another was due to come this pm to fix. Except he came when I was doing nursery run first think and left card stuck in letter flap so I saw 1h later. Was then offered appointment on thur/fri! Kicked up fuss and will hopefully come back today. Sitting in coat, hat and gloves now though luckily DD has nursery until 1pm. May see if I can get afternoon too if plumber is not in touch by 1pm as it is just so cold in the house!

Timetogrowup2016 · 29/11/2016 10:51

Happy birthday to me .
Today my present was an up the back poo explosion and a non napping baby ..woop.

Car seats
Mum has bought for her the car the graco milestones.
Happy birthday to zach !
One all ready ! He has come so far and has done so well

Timetogrowup2016 · 29/11/2016 10:54

I'm liking that c can only sit and roll back to front at the moment .
Means I can pop her down and she doesn't mess about in her cot .

C has mastered her pincer grip the last two weeks.
No babbling yet .
It seems fine motor skills are her focus . She gets very angry if she can't pick something up the way she wants to or wants it to be . And keeps looking at her hands and holding them in front of her face a lot . Almost asking " what are these things " to her self

MrsElls · 29/11/2016 12:45

Ah happy birthday time shame about C's idea of a present though.

C has the pincer grip as well, when I first gave her peas she kept picking them up but opening her hand before her mouth and doing them down her sleeves!

FirstTimeMummy25 · 29/11/2016 13:38

DS is starting to get back to himself although still not right thanks for asking trip. It's awful seeing him so poorly bless him.

Timetogrowup2016 · 29/11/2016 15:46

So c has been awake since 7 and has napped for 2 minutes and 10 minutes today.
I've had a cry today already and lying on my bed now .
She's in her cot . Warm dry and fed . Awake .

I've spent 8 months trying to sort this problem out .
I'm 3 weeks into controlled crying for naps and getting no where .
Don't know where to go from here

Timetogrowup2016 · 29/11/2016 17:02

One minute nap at 4pm.
That makes 13 minutes total today .
Argh
