Oh no, MrsElls, that sounds rubbish.

DS2 is also wheezy. We went off to the OOH service last night (25 miles away, at 2am) whereupon he did his best impression of hale and hearty. The doc could hear a wheeze though and have us an inhaler and spacer.

I've stayed home with him today. Mainly because we got about 2 hours sleep in the end. But he's been much worse today. Really coughy and snoozy. He's just had 2 hour nap, awake long enough for some milk and calpol and just going back to sleep on me now.

I suppose it's fine as long as he's waking, feeding and weeing, etc.

It's nigh-on impossible to get him to use the inhaler though. He's too unwell to learn to make a game of it, so it's a case of holding it on him while he thrashes and screams.

marmite I know, they grow far too quickly. I'm seeing a friend and her three month old this week, I can't really remember my DS being that young but it really wasn't that long ago. I need another squishy newborn, he doesn't stay still long enough for decent cuddles any more!

mship love the festive name change! If I had a bit more imagination I would do one for myself. Ill put my thinking cap on!

mrsells sympathies for your poorly DD. My DS had a horrible cold last week, he is over the worst of it now but we can still hear lots of gunk all stuck in his throat. He was sick, proper projectile sick with it too, I think it's all the mucus. Blergh! We used the calpol plug in at night when he was really bad which seemed to help him to sleep.

Dom sympathies to you too. Your poor little boy. You must both be shattered. Hopefully you have had a nice day of snuggles. I think like you say as long as he is feeding and weeing and alert when he is awake then it's fine. Hes probably exhausted bless him, all the coughing alone makes you tired.

It's safe to say that my DS has got his appetite back! After last week when he was poorly and completely refusing to eat, he has demolished three meals today plus two puddings. We have discovered the Heinz baby biscotti, they are seriously yum! DS loved his the other day but if I'm honest I don't think he will get any more because I will have eaten them all!

Me624 · 16/11/2016 13:55

DS is driving me round the bend today. It is nearly 2pm and he has napped for a grand total of 15 minutes all day, having been up since 7.30. I have tried numerous times to rock him to sleep and transfer into the cot. I have tried pushing him around in the buggy for 30+ minutes. I eventually got him to sleep and transferred about half an hour ago, breathed a sigh of relief and sat down with my iPad, only for him to wake up 15 fucking minutes later. I am sooo fed up!!

Me624 · 16/11/2016 15:11

Now sitting in the supermarket car park on my phone. I decided I just had to get out as spending most of the day standing by DS's cot trying to get him to sleep was stifling - of course he then fell asleep in the car on the way here and I daren't move him until he's had at least half an hour!!

Timetogrowup2016 · 16/11/2016 15:12

:( me - that is my dd every day
Except today she has napped 1 hour and 35 minutes this afternoon

QforCucumber · 16/11/2016 15:31

Oh no me hope tomorrow is a better day.

mrsells how does your dd seem now?

Have you managed a catch up on sleep dom

Good to hear your ds is eating again dotty

Well after having my interviews i didn't get the term time only position, I have however been offered a role elsewhere which I have graciously accepted - I start 2 weeks today (they wanted me to start the the Monday but it's my 30th the Tuesday so I asked if I could do Wednesday instead)

Been to nursery today and registered R for his 3 days a week.....he seemed so happy playing with the baby room leader while I did all the forms, made me much more comfortable about leaving him there. They do 2 x 1.5 hour taster sessions so I have those in next week, may get my hair done. How exciting!

MrsElls · 16/11/2016 16:59

DD is still a bit wheezy but having her in the bathroom whilst I have a very steamy shower seems to be really helping.

We have sleep problems today as well but for the opposite reason to many of you. She woke in the night and fed loads at about 2.30 then treated me or so I thought to a long lie in till 7.50! The problem is she then wanted to sleep just as we arrived at a group at 11am whereas normally she naps at 9am. Mean mum that I am I made her play so she didn't get to sleep till 12.30. She had about 90 mins, which I know many of you can only dream of, but is actually quite a short nap for her and has just whinged until I put her in bed 5 mins ago. I really hope she doesn't think this is bedtime! Think I'll give her 45 mins then wake her up and will definitely wake her up tomorrow morning if she tries to lie in, I can't cope with not knowing what time she is going to want things!

Sympathy Me & Time & MrsE.

Q he was up at 4:30 yesterday morning so I was utterly exhausted by yesterday evening. He's much better but was super congested overnight, so still a broken night for me.

I was surprised to find it only took 2 really bad nights for the black cloud and anxiety to descend. Fortunately it seemed to lift today but I need to keep prioritising sleep over work.

Congratulations on the job, Q!

In other news, I had a mirena coil put in on Monday. I've been on the mini-pill for a few months and no sign of a period, so hoping to avoid the first few months of bleeding/heavy/normal periods that I've read people experience and cut straight to the no periods/light spotting that people rave about. Had a copper coil last time and fitting triggered periods to return and they were super heavy. They got better, but were still on the heavy side. Thanks, just needed to share that!

TheM3ShipsCameSailingIn · 16/11/2016 18:44

Challenging week here, both kids sick, lots of night wakings. DD is basically glued to the breast at night so DH has to deal with all poor DS's needs. It's hard going to work like this, but also a little guilty relief. Hoping DS will come out of the woods soon so we're only dealing with one sick kid at a time. Probably that's when DH and I will come down with it! Confused

Timetogrowup2016 · 16/11/2016 19:25

Gosh I am knackered tonight .
We hAve finally got the point at nigjt where dd goes in her cot with dummies scattered around her and will chat for half an hour to her self pick one up and go to sleep for 12 hours . The odd nigjt wake here and their .

Also 19 pound 4 now and 75th centile
And loving food !
Shovles and food in
Spoon or finger food she can't get enough

Me624 · 16/11/2016 20:56

Time your dd is absolutely gorgeous! So much chubbier than the last photos I remember seeing of her! My DS is the same, inhales his food and is sporting some massive cheeks right now. I take my hat off to you for dealing with no naps every day. DS is normally pretty good but he hasn't been napping well for the last few days. I don't think I realised until now how much I appreciate and rely on that bit of downtime when he is napping to recharge the batteries.

MrsElls you're lucky Dd is normally consistent! DS has never had consistent waking or nap times. The day starts anywhere between 6 and 8! I aim for the 234 routine but the times are different every single day depending on when he wakes and how long his naps last. Would love to have a consistent routine like you but don't think he's that sort of baby!

Dom I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the mirena. I used to be on the mini pill but when I went back on it after DS I had the most horrible heavy bleeding and I quickly came off it again. Mirena is one of the options I am considering (we've just been using condoms on the rare occasions we manage to dtd these days!) but I'm not keen on heavy bleeding again and DH finds the idea of the coil a bit icky - he's worried he'll be able to feel the strings during sex! Anyone else got one who can provide reassurance on that front?

MShip hope the poorly babies feel better soon.

DomesticAnarchist · 16/11/2016 21:54

Me, I had the copper coil before - no string-feeling went on!

I've read that the initial heavy bleeding some have with the mirena (and possibly mini pill) is the uterus losing its lining before the pill/mirena then prevents it building back up again (hence both often leading to lighter/non-existent periods). I'm hoping that BFing followed by mini-pill followed by mirena will mean that there's none there to shed!

I'm a bit crampy and bloated though Blush. I'm sure it'll settle...

FirstTimeMummy25 · 16/11/2016 22:00

Sorry to hear of all the poorly babies. And rubbish sleep! DS is very poorly too, took him to the doctors today and he has a virus apparently. He has such a weezy chest and his cough is so bad bless him. He's dealing really well with it but just woke up boiling and screaming. My heart breaks for him.
Nearly 2nd week back at work over! I must admit I hate it. I just want to be at home with DS especially when he's poorly! He loves the childminder and seeing other children so I'm being selfish really.
Might try putting him in the bathroom with me tomorrow whilst I shower as suggested my Ellis.
Dom what was the reason the OOH gave your DS a spacer and inhaler bless him? I wonder what I can do to help DS hE has the calpol plug in, snuffle babe and calpol but can't think of anything else really.

Poor little babies!

FirstTimeMummy25 · 17/11/2016 07:22

Rubbish night here! Lots of wake up with hysterical crying bless him. Spat out all this calpol so you can imagine the sticky mess we got into!
Hope other poorly babies are feeling better! I think it's safe to say I will be operating on coffee today!

DomesticAnarchist · 17/11/2016 11:30

FTM she said he had a viral wheeze and gave the inhaler. Possibly because it was 2am and we'd driven 25 miles to get there, possibly because I have asthma, who knows?

Oh, calpol spitting is a nightmare! I did discover that the baby ibuprofen has a lower dose so less to get down.

FirstTimeMummy25 · 17/11/2016 11:36

Awww bless Dom has it helped him?
Oh really? I have some ibuprofen in the cupboard maybe that's the way forward for tonight. He's gone to the childminders today and apparently he's just sleeping loads but if he gets worse I'll just leave work I have really bad mothers guilt leaving him when he's poorly.

MrsElls · 17/11/2016 16:18

DD has been ratty as hell today, I put it down to her still being ill but I've just felt tooth number three has popped through. Time to get some teething remedies out.

Me624 · 17/11/2016 19:08

Get well soon all the poorly babies! I really recommend humidifiers for snuffly/chesty ones at night, DS was a very snuffly baby for the first few months of his life and a friend recommended a humidifier to me, it helped loads with his sleep. We got a Vicks one from Argos, I think it was about £30. It comes out every time he has a cold.

DS has napped fairly well today so hopefully yesterday was a one off! He did start the day at 4.30am though which wasn't great ... I refuse to start the day at that time so I spent 2 hours trying to get him back to sleep getting more and more wound up. He wasn't even unhappy, he was chatting away to himself in his cot, I wish I could just ignore it and go back to sleep like DH can but I can't, we live in a new build with paper thin walls and if I can hear him, I'm not sleeping. Thinking of trying some ear plugs!!

Thanks for the coil info Dom. Hope the bleeding stays away for you!

Dottydoodoo · 17/11/2016 20:33

So sorry to hear about all the poorly babies. Wishing that they get better very soon. DS is just about over his cold now but he has still got a bit of a cough. When he was poorly his bedtime routine was to stand with him in steamy bathroom, then smother his chest in snufflebabe vapour rub, give calpol and bonjela, drop a tiny drop of olbas oil on his sheet at the far end of the cot, and put the calpol plug in on. It all seemed to help a bit, probably because he was completely drugged up!

time your DD is adorable!

mrsells boo to teething! Poor DD. My DS has got number 5 poking through and is a little chew monster!

me I feel your pain! I can't sleep when DS is awake either, even if he is perfectly happy.

I am sooooo tired today Sad. DS triggered the baby monitor at 3.00 this morning (we have the angelcare breathing pad one) which he often does as he wiggles to the end of the cot and cuddles up against the board! I got up to check and move him and he was absolutely fine, but I just could not get back to sleep. I have been awake since 3.a.m. I am exhausted. DH of course cannot understand why Hmm because "I don't have to get up for work" Hmm hey ho! I'm tempted to just go to bed now but I really want to watch I'm a celeb!

Timetogrowup2016 · 17/11/2016 21:01

Bloody men.
No a baby is work !
Grrrr

DomesticAnarchist · 17/11/2016 22:10

Yeah, I was off with DS on Monday and thought I might catch up with some marking. Of course I couldn't - looking after children is a full time job! (Which is why I have to pay people to do it while I'm at work-work!).

They forget that sometimes. And there's only one cure...

Trinpy · 17/11/2016 23:28

Sorry to hear about all the poorly babies. I hate this time if year for the constant coughs and colds. Hope they're all feeling better soon.

Congratulations on the job q!

Lovely photos of C time. She's grown so much.

Dotty it drives me crazy when people think that looking after small children isn't work. There's a reason that childminders/nursery staff don't do it for free! It's bloody exhausting. I hope your got plenty of rest.

Still haven't heard back from that job interview last week. I spoke to my boss today though and the new job I'm being redeployed to sounds good - pt hours, 4pm finish and a 1 minute commute from my house Grin. The work is the kind of thing I enjoy too.

MrsElls · 18/11/2016 02:30

Oh trinpy that job sounds great, would probably give you a tricky decision if you got offered the other one, a one minute commute, how lovely.

Night 3 of 2am wake ups, guess I can blame teething for that but its killing me. Dh worked from home yesterday so he did bath time for both of them, ds always wants 'one more little minute' and dd starts getting annoyed as she is finished and ready for milk, dh came down and said he had a new respect for me as he was exhausted!
