Egypt???
Did you hold out?

Egypt · 02/04/2007 13:33

hello!! i have a baby

i held out too! neighbour returned home at lunchtime on saturday. started feeling regular but easy contractions about 5pm. we had dinner at their place at 630. by 8ish i was getting concerned and said perhaps we should do and getg me checked out. they were stronger and very regualr- 4-5 mins. but after dd taking days a i didnt want to look a fool. put dd to bed ourselves - she went to sleep straight away, neighbour came round. got to hosp for 9ish. was 2cm dilated. went in the pool, needed G&A so got out after an hour. was 7cms! waters broke, meconium in them, was put on my back - grrr, but couldnt move anyway. so so painful, still on G&A though. needed to push right away and had to hold it in and wait for doctor. got a bit surreal on gas and started hallucinating! weird. dd born at 1122pm. weighed 6lb 11oz - tiny. Caitlin Jess.

now i know what it feels like to give birth. omg.

dh back home for 130. dd never knew we'd left her. she is chuffed to bits with her little sister and want to hold her, stroke her, poke her, fuss her and generally shove her finger down her throat at every opportunity. bless.

i am knackered.

brandnewhelsy · 02/04/2007 19:43

Fantastic! Congratulations. Beautiful name. Hope you're all well. Your dd is now dd1!

Ponka · 02/04/2007 19:48

Congratulations, Egypt!!!! That did work out well, didn't it? I hope you are finding life with two O.K. I'm chuffed for you. I hope she's a good sleeper.

I had one of those moments today that you dream of having before you had kids. DS was helping me cook on a chair in the kitchen. He put his arm round my back, looked up and said, "Mummy, you're my best friend". I melted. Well, off I go to sort out the bomb site.

Ponka · 02/04/2007 19:50

Hi Helsy, we're on at the same time then. How's it going?

bozza · 03/04/2007 09:55

Fantastic news. See I told you it would all work itself out. And lovely name, not that I am biased or anything .

Egypt · 03/04/2007 12:24

oh yes bozza, forgot you had a little C as well

yes dd1. oo got to get used to that one.

surprised so many people by having a girl. everyone except dd1 said it would be a boy. ha

she is a great sleeper - in the day! aren't they all at first. mind you, last night, despite not settling in her moses basket until 1am, she slept until 8am, with one feed in between. nice.

my boobs hurt.

aaaargh

OP posts:
bozza · 03/04/2007 12:56

1 am is very late though isn't it? I used to find that the worst, I could cope with getting up several times in the night once I had a few hours under my belt. Still she is very new. I have to say that my little C was never as small as yours. I just looked on your profile page to see if you had put a picture of DD2 on, and it is all out of date now!

brandnewhelsy · 04/04/2007 22:41

Oops sorry Ponka, once I'd congratulated Egypt I went off this thread, so missed you!
She sounds beautiful Egypt.
Dd2 has chickenpox - just in time for the Easter holidays. She was supposed to have had it a few months ago but now the GP says that was a "misdiagnosis" and now she definitely has it. She's ok, not many spots, bit clingy and winding daddy up as he's at home with her this week as I have to work even though I'm SUPPOSED to be term-time only .
I took dd1 to London yesterday (planned, so didn't go in to work), we had a lovely time together. She's been a lot calmer since the upset last week or so, but I think she is a sensitive soul - unlike the little tank that is her sister! Dd2 waited up for us to see what present we'd bought her!

Judd · 05/04/2007 22:10

Congratulations Egypt! Can't believe DS is going to be three next month! Have you already talked about birthday presents? I've not been on much, lurked a bit but just seem to have been really busy. I;vbe got a titchy job that I'm doing from home when the children are at school/pre school and I just daren't open MN or else all my precious 2 hours just whizzes away.....

bozza · 05/04/2007 22:13

Bad timing helsy. It always is. DD got chicken pox when we were supposed to be having a caravan holiday without a bath in Scotland in October. We only lasted two nights - DH sleeping on a single bed in with DS and me sharing with DD who would not be put down and was breastfeeding every half hour and it was freezing in the night. You will have to spend a lot of time in the garden. I hope she is not too poorly with it. It is going around, round here again and I can be all smug about it.

We are decorating DD's bedroom this w/e (trust us to choose the first Easter with good weather for years), so we have cleared it all out and DD is sleeping in DS's bed and DS is sleeping on a ready bed. Ah, they were all excited about sharing a room. When I was 6 I shared with both my sisters every night - sleeping on my own was a novelty!

bozza · 05/04/2007 22:17

Well, hello, there Judd. I thought you were worried about your anonymity. Or is that no longer an issue? No we haven't really discussed birthdays yet. I am really quite stuck for DD's - she has so much stuff. And when I ask her what she wants she says a chair . She means link{http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0790509.htm\this lovely princess chair} which her friend has but I am not very keen on, especially when she already has a very nice, tasteful rocking chair. When I ask her what else she would like she says "two chairs". She has also said that she would like a cinderella dressing up outfit. A bit princess mad here.

bozza · 05/04/2007 22:18

Maybe a dolls house? Or what about a proper pram? OK I know I am looking at a girl's perspective but we have all the "boy" toys. I think when DS was 3 we were quite into brio and duplo and starting with little lego and cars (still).

Judd · 05/04/2007 23:01

I thought anonymity was going to be OK as she mentioned that she had found an expats website. However she is still posting...
Only problem is, I do feel that you need to get your name known in order to get good replies to queries but I don't want to "get around" too much and be spotted!
I saw you on a thread talking about trying "child led feeding" and it really made me laugh!
DS also has shedloads of kit. We might re-do the train board and get some more bits for it, but apart from that, I'm not sure. I could do with having a big clear out so I can see the wood for the trees. Anybody else find it hard to get the 2 year old's to play with "age appropriate" stuff if they have an older sibling? DS is always dying to crack out "Guess Who" when people come round, although he has a problem with ladies and beards...
Not really connected, although it is to do with ideas above their station (age wise, if you follow me) we were in the playground and DD came out of school. I said "hello! Did you have a lovely day? It was french today, wasn't it?" DD struggles with lunchbox and other assorted stuff so doesn't answer....DS pipes up "no mummy, French is on MERCREDI".

Egypt · 06/04/2007 15:10

hi judd!
quickly dropping in to say piccies on my profile.

will you lot upload some now!!

Ponka · 06/04/2007 15:37

Lovely picture of both of them, Egypt and of you, too! You are looking very good on what looks like a picture from the hospital! Mine don't look like that.

bozza · 06/04/2007 21:44

FAntastic pictures egypt. Judd can't remember being funny every but I take your word for it. We will always try to help you out with queries on here you know. If we can, obviously. DS got DD to play Guess Who with him. It was quite amusing. She answered so sincerely but wrongly each time. But DS is pretty pants at it anyway and quite often ends up with every face down. DD has insisted on going in the ready bed tonight and DS is back in his bed although apparently that "is not fair". DD has been very busy "helping" to paint her bedroom. I have failed to get her not to keep slapping more paint on the same bit though.

Ponka · 07/04/2007 00:17

Hi Bozza. Hi Judd. I find it hard to get DS2 to play with his own stuff. He's constantly after what DS1 is playing with. The problem is, everything goes straight in his mouth at the moment so I've really got to watch it. It sounds like that's going to continue for some time, then!

DS2 is one tomorrow. We're having a family party so I've been preparing food, putting balloons up and errecting a plastic playhouse in the garden this evening (his present from us). I'm knackered. I'm really looking forward to it tomorrow. Happy Birthday to Spots' DD2, too. I think they were the same day. I wonder if Spots will ever come back on here to see that .

Linnet · 07/04/2007 01:10

Congratulations Egypt, the photo's are brilliant.

Hello to everyone else. I haven't been on this thread much lately, in fact I don't think I've posted on this one at all.

I can't believe our May babies are going to be 3 already! No ideas what we'll be buying dd2 for a present although she says she wants a caterpillar cake so that's that sorted then!

dd2 is the total opposite of dd1, talks non stop, is on the move from the minute she gets up to the minute she goes to bed is generally exhausting all the time but so funny at the same time. She's very clumsy and is constantly covered in bruises and she still likes to fight with her sister. It's the school holidays at the moment and I think dd1 is counting the days until she goes back to school as she's getting no peace from dd2.

Hope you all have a good Easter and are enjoying the lovely weather. I'll try to pop in again soon.

Linnet

Egypt · 07/04/2007 07:16

ooo all the old guys! hi linnet! lovely to hear from you too.

what have i missed? whats all this anonymity thing about judd? and what has happened to spots, why wont she be posting? i don't know what has occurred, someone fill me in?! or cat me if you cant say on here

OP posts:
bozza · 07/04/2007 18:54

I wasn't aware of anything happening with spots except that she seems to have stopped posting. J was a bit concerned because she had reason to believe her sister was posting on here so she has been keeping a bit of a low profile.

Happy birthday to Ponka's DS2. What a lovely day. One of my close friend's DS was 1 on Thursday so we are going out to a pub (with beer garden etc) for lunch tomorrow to celebrate. I am hoping it will be as nice. I had a lovely afternoon out with DS and DD today - at a bird garden place.
