So many August bus babies have arrived already! Anyone else fancy a chat during night feeds or wondering what to make of the contents of tiny nappies? Might as well get comfortable...

Ahh well done Lots! Quite an achievement!! Your kids have gone back to school already? I thought school started in September?

MrsPMT23 · 17/08/2016 13:23

Finally moved to the other side!

For those who haven't seen in previous thread, DD Elizabeth Alice was born on 13th at 19.19 weighing 7lbs 5 after a long and stressful labour.

Feeding going well now that sore nipples are on the mend. Went for a walk this morning and my stitches are killing me - anyone have any tips? I've been doing the usual jug when I pee thing and warm baths.

Daytona79 · 17/08/2016 13:40

We are using this for our 2 year old and he loves it

I think it's a better alternative to a buggy board as allows him to rest.

Should have said also and he strapped into it, as we wouldn't trust him not to jump off board and run away

LotsOfDots · 17/08/2016 16:02

I'm in Scotland pear we finish at the end of June so it's back to school mid August. Thank god.

No hints other than a cool bath every night mrsPMT and also, congratulations! Two of my favourite girls names. I have a friend who's daughter is Alice Elizabeth!

Daytona that is a seriously cool bit of kit!

peardrop2 · 17/08/2016 19:33

Lots - ahhhh I never knew that about Scotland!

Daytona - that's an interesting piece of kit. What is it called so I can google it?

MrsPMT Awww congratulations! Love your name choices Smile you've done brilliantly to get out the house so soon! It took me 2 weeks to leave the house for a walk Blush I went yesterday and I am paying for it today. I find being on my feet alternating my services between a newborn and toddler just a killer! I am now in bed after taking paracetamol. Lying down and paracetamol is what helps me. I can't see to fit baths in but hear Lavender and salt baths are great!

I have so much to say but I need to get some sleep before the fun begins. Feeling extremely sore and tired!!

Daytona79 · 17/08/2016 19:42

It's called a bibi strolli rider you can only get them 2nd hand now from gumtree or enay I paid £30 for mine

But if you can't find one the easy rider X is a similar product

peardrop2 · 18/08/2016 00:08

Ahh yes Day I've been looking at the xrider but suspect that it may be too small for my Ds. I don't actually know how much he weighs because our scales need batteries but he's v tall now!

peardrop2 · 18/08/2016 00:28

Oh my...I'm in for a fun night Sad DD has done nothing but wind and munch for the last 2 hours Hmm I've now resorted to the dummy but I can hear that's not going down well Confused

Biscuitswithtea · 18/08/2016 02:25

Evening all & welcome to the new arrivals :)

I took DD into work yesterday. Glad I did, but tired from it now! Also took the opportunity to put my out of office on too ;)

I feel sorry for DS at the moment. Everything seems hard for him with all the changes. He's been moved rooms at nursery too which sort of seems like his last straw of things he can tolerate!

DD is doing pretty well this now - probably the best of all four of us!

Are you still having to endure daily weigh ins Pear? Hope that is all going well enough...

peardrop2 · 18/08/2016 05:09

Had a mini breakdown at around 3am and marched downstairs to hand over DD to DH. I think it gave me about 1 hours sleep. Luckily I woke up to take her back. God knows how DH will cope at work today. Feeling very very guilty Sad

DD hasn't done a poo for ages so it must be constipation pains going on. I guess with all this extra milk her body is clogged up? Or it could be because I ate a lot of chocolate yesterday Blush Found it very stressful waiting for the midwife and the HV with a toddler all day.

Biscuits I've now been signed off with the midwifes as of yesterday TG! DD is now over her birthweight sitting at 5lbs 2 hurrah! Unfortunately the HV somehow bullied me into the idea of having her weighed again next week but it's better then daily weigh ins!

I may have to ask for my mothers help tomorrow. It's such a shame I'm having bad night after night Sad Apart from cutting out chocolate I don't know how to improve things! Confused

peardrop2 · 18/08/2016 06:06

Note to self...tonight don't just come upstairs with half a cup of water. What was I thinking?!?!!! Hmm

lilygirl81 · 18/08/2016 06:57

Morning folks, finally found this thread!

I'm feeling pretty good, we got 3 hours sleep in a row during the night, not much after that, but every little helps!

I'm feeling a bit worried that my boobs never seem to leak, is that normal? Lily feeds between hourly and 3 hourly, but even if she goes over that, there is nothing? I had to hand back my hospital pump so using a Tommee Tippee one and only getting 1oz per side which is not disheartening too. She is putting on weight, but only about 20g a day, worried my HV is going to give me a hard time as she has dropped percentiles, think down to the 2nd from the 9th.

I've been staying with my parents for the last couple of weeks, with DH coming down for 4 day stretches each weekend, which has been odd, but really helpful as I do t have to do anything except care for Lily, and I get taken out for coffee or lunch every day. It's also meant I've not seen a HV since day 10 (now 4w+5) as where I am they just do a weigh and go thing that you weigh your yen baby then hand in a slip of paper with her details and weight on it.

Hope everyone had a good night

Sophia1984 · 18/08/2016 07:12

Starting to think baby has undiagnosed tongue tie :-( have tried and tried to get a good latch but it's impossible and always painful when he feeds. Who do I need to speak to to try and get it diagnosed? So frustrating if it is as have been suffering for no reason.

lilygirl81 · 18/08/2016 07:20

Sophia not sure who you speak to, maybe HV? What position are you trying? Lily could only manage in the rugby ball hold until she was about 3 weeks old, but now mostly manages in a cradle hold, so maybe a different position would help a little (sorry if you've tried this)

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 18/08/2016 08:00

pear I too had a strop this morning and made DH take her while he got ready for work and I grabbed a quick half hour nap. I do feel guilty but I don't think it's possible to manage nights all alone.

sophia it's the HV mine says DD does have TT but the clinic isn't until next Tuesday! Ugh.

Hi lily nice to have support from your parents. I think in the early days you have to do whatever you need to do to get by. Even if that means staying away from your DH

Alright night here - but only because I've started cosleeping. Seems I've wasted my money on a snuzpod!

Whattodowithaminute · 18/08/2016 08:13

sophia do you have any local breastfeeding cafes? They normally are a good route into tongue tie services and assessments.

lily I dot think the absence of leak is necessarily a concern, some people don't leak! When are you pumping? Pre or post a feed? Are you pumping to give expressed bottles or to boost supply? Babies will always be more efficient on milk transfer than a pump.

pear if constipation remains an issue we had dramatic effects with ds2 from a cranial osteopath. Also make sure you are drinking plenty; I think I'm on about 5litres of water a day at the moment!

We are settling into a pretty cranky baby from 4-9 every evening, so lucky to have DH about don't know how I'd deal with dinner bath and bed for the older ones on my own... Eek!

Biscuitswithtea · 18/08/2016 09:05

So I started a post two hrs ago, but children had other ideas & most of the sensible stuff I was going to say has been said.
But def don't feel guilty about asking DHs to take babies for a while. There's nothing unreasonable in that!

DS did an entire wee on his bedroom floor this am. Sigh.
DD is grunting away, I assume brewing a another poo

OwlinaTree · 18/08/2016 11:43

Hi guys, seems like a mixed bag on here at the mo. We too are having some sleep issues, dd is feeding to sleep/sticking for comfort. The last two nights have been really bad, up for hours trying to settle her.

After some discussion we have decided to try a dummy to help her to self settle. I fed my ds to sleep, and it ended up being a really hard habit to break at 4 months.

She has had her morning feed and look around, and is now dozing with the dummy. I don't know whether it will work, but worth a try. Fx!

LotsOfDots · 18/08/2016 14:09

Owlina let me know how the dummy goes. We haven't used one with the DDs, DD1 gagged when we tried her with one, she didn't like bottles either, she's not even that keen on putting food in her mouth, never mind anything else. DD2 self settled with thumb sucking. How cute, and convenient I thought. Still can't get her to completely stop 5.5 years later and it's been a nightmare. She is terrible for putting any random things in her mouth though, sucks her clothes/cuffs etc. Will definitely introduce a dummy if there is a hint of thumb sucking with DS!

MrsPMT23 · 18/08/2016 14:12

Thanks for the tips Lots and pear.

MW came today and we are doing well. DD lost a bit of weight but she refused to feed for a day or two but making up for it now. Nipples aren't as sore as they were so think I'm getting somewhere. Does anyone find baby prefers a certain nipple? Trying loads of positions but she always latches differently on my left side and doesn't want to feed for long.

All seeming fine otherwise at the moment - apart from the gearbox going on my car yesterday. £3,000 to replace Blush talk about bad timing...

OwlinaTree · 18/08/2016 15:13

What a nightmare mrs.

I've managed to get her to go to sleep with the dummy, she sucked it quite ferociously for a few minutes and then was asleep.... whether it will continue to work, who knows?

peardrop2 · 18/08/2016 16:09

Lots your post made me smile Wink Oh how they lull you into thinking their habits are adorable until you learn they're not reversible! Still, a sweet description of your children though Smile

owl I use a dummy at nighttime too. Sometimes it works but mainly it doesn't. Whatever works I say!!

So, my amazing mother has taken DS away this afternoon. This morning I just felt like a total failure. I know deep down I'm
not but when I can't meet DS entertainment needs and he just gets more and more hyper the longer he is caged inside the house it's really hard for me to watch Sad We used to have so much fun and now I feel like it's all been taken away but I know that's silly thoughts and a 3 year old probably doesn't think like that! Anyway, my mum has taken him for a walk so he should get some fresh air. Tomorrow morning I will definitely try and take him out in the garden. I'd like to say the park but that's probably unrealistic Confused

My older sister is visiting soon so I'm going to take the opportunity to shower now whilst DD is in a milk dream Wink

peardrop2 · 18/08/2016 16:12

Oh and mrs before DD had her tongue tie snipped she didn't like the left side very much. Have you asked anyone to check for tongue tie? Just in case. It's so common nowadays. Such bad luck about your car Sad Poor you! We have a lot of incidents like that in my household and you just think...why me? Why now?!?!?! At least we have cute babies to cuddle Smile

peardrop2 · 18/08/2016 16:15

Sophia ring the midwifes at the hospital and ask them. They may say come in and get it checked!
