Accept not expect !

Maybebabybee · 23/07/2016 14:39

Awww cute time :)

1frenchfoodie · 23/07/2016 16:24

I was doing so well not spending too much on baby clothes (have loads second hand from my sis and stepsons family) probably only bought 7 baby gros to date. But I've just discovered littlegreenradicals.co.uk and spent more than that in one fell swoop. Super cute and organic + fairtrade to boot. In my defence I only bought sale stuff and E needs baby gros rather than tshirts + pants as she claws at her stomach so much.

TheMshipIsBack · 23/07/2016 17:15

Oh crap T has a tooth through today.

It's not even a normal first one so I completely missed its approach! DH spotted it when she was screaming at him. It's a top tooth, one of the second pair, not the centre pair. I can also see white under the gums in at least three other of the front eight spots, so I think we're in for a hellish week or two while she sprouts the full set. facepalm

C's such a cutie, time !

FS84 · 23/07/2016 17:40

Omg marmite I can't handle this going on until 18 months Shock Any survival tips?

That sounds horrendous Mship lots of sympathy to you!

DH has had DS sleeping in his arms since 4. It's amazing the things I've managed to get done in that time. Grateful to have a little break.

Maybebabybee · 23/07/2016 18:03

Mship yep I've just spotted the beginnings of a top tooth in DS mouth in addition to one of his bottom ones that's already poking through, plus I can see loads of others about to come in Confused

TheMshipIsBack · 23/07/2016 18:36

Thanks guys Smile I guess she takes after my side of the family, my DM says I had two teeth at the same age and all the first eight by six months. DS was like DH according to MIL - first tooth at a sane seven months and all the rest like clockwork at exactly the average intervals. I'm hoping it won't be a problem for nursing considering T's bottle refusing issues.

RhubarbAndMustard · 23/07/2016 19:08

Blimey Mship and Maybe, that sounds like a painful few days but hopefully at least it won't be dragged out and they can get back to happy babies again. I think I see one of J's just under the surface at the bottom.

Lovely pics Time.

Welcome to all the newcomers to the thread.

We have finally converted the study to a nursery and J can have his first night tonight in his cot in his own room. Excited and hoping for a good night.

Me624 · 23/07/2016 20:08

Good luck Rhu. Ds's sleep improved so much when we put him in his own room!

Lovely pics Time.

Ouch to the tooth MShip! I had a good look at ds's gums today and I don't think I can see any teeth yet, but he's drooling like mad, we've had some horrible nappies and if I put my finger in his mouth he practically gnaws it off. I hope we don't have months of this bless him.

DS has been a bit constipated the last few days. He is really really straining (way more than usual) and then a teeny bit will come out. It's not hard pellets but it's a very very thick consistency compared to usual. I have given him 2oz of boiled water the last two days which seems to then prompt a better runnier poo later on. Hopefully whatever he has will clear itself up soon. Between that and the teething he's been pretty out of sorts.

Dottydoodoo · 23/07/2016 20:38

frenchfoodie, I think I have spent more on baby clothes than I have spent on clothes for myself over my entire life!

Me, my DS has been a bit like that with his poos, not really constipated but just not quite right, I think it's the heat. He only seems to go now every two or three days so I feel as if I am constantly on poo watch and get all stressed if he hasn't been for a while!

We have just given DS his bath and put him to bed and noticed the tip of his penis is very red and looks sore. DH pulled the foreskin back and there is a tiny little white dot of something there. It didn't seem to bother him, we were both having a good look and he just lay on his changing mat cooing and kicking his legs. Has anyone else had this with their baby? Unless it clears up on its own overnight I'll make him a GP appointment on Monday to get it checked. He is fast asleep now though in the land of nod!

MrsElls · 24/07/2016 06:43

Sympathy to all the teethers. C has been drooling and gnawing lots but I can't see anything and it doesn't seem to be bothering her that much.

Went to see a hand therapist yesterday so confirm what I already knew, I do indeed have DeQuervains, now got this lovely little number to wear Confused

RhubarbAndMustard · 24/07/2016 07:13

MrsElls that looks sore. Hope the support helps. I looked it up as the base of my left thumb is really sore (the whole section of my palm that's within the first palm reading curve) but think De Quervains is more wrist than palm.

Dotty we've not had that so can't help I'm afraid. If in doubt, GP is a good idea. If only to put you're mind at rest.

First night in his own room went really well. I got him to sleep on me first, so no self settling yet, but he went straight through until 6:15. And I had the best nights sleep I've had in ages. Grin Off to work again this morning but at least I'm feeling sprightly.

DomesticAnarchist · 24/07/2016 09:16

Morning.

We're in a field still. Camping' been ok actually! DS1 made a friend with another 5 year old next door so has been entertaining himself beautifully. And DS2 has slept excellently! (Still two feeds between midnight & 7am but still!)

Ooh, your poor wrist MrsE. Hope the brace improves it soon.

As for willies - DS2 had a red bit on his the other day, but it had resolved itself within 24 hours. We've never tried to retract either's forskins so can't comment there.

We've got to pack these tents up soon. I might take the smaller bits and the kids home in the little car and leave DH and the other blokes to sort out the tents and bikes into the big car. Especially if it rains!

Dottydoodoo · 24/07/2016 16:29

I'm glad the camping went well domestic, we used to go camping a lot pre DS but I'm not brave enough to go now. It's enough of a mission just to pop to the shops!

DS is having his third nap of the day! Yesterday was a nap time disaster, he was just fighting sleep all afternoon and eventually crashed out at 4pm for 2 hours! I was dreading bedtime but he went to bed as good as gold as usual. I'm sure we will crack these naps eventually and then there will be a new challenge!

As for his willy, the more I look at it the more I think it has always been a bit red. It's really not bothering him in the slightest. I will probably end up going to the GP anyway to put my mind at rest. My GP is retiring though so we have a new one so his first impression of me will be neurotic mother!

Me624 · 24/07/2016 17:09

Dotty a few times DS has had a bit of a sore looking willy. When it's happened I put a bit of sudocrem on it before bed and it's usually looking better by morning.

DS's poo seems to be looking more normal again now, thank goodness!

Good work on the camping Dom. DH and I were going to go for a night or two when he had a week off recently but we chickened out because the weather wasn't great and because I didn't think I could cope with a small baby in a tent

TriJo · 25/07/2016 00:06

Dodgy boob being temperamental again. I've literally only had a week and a half where it behaved. So fucking frustrated.

1frenchfoodie · 25/07/2016 07:20

TriJo mastitis again do you think? You have my sympathy, hope you get sorted swiftly.

I hope the lack of overnight posts means lots of sleep for babies and mums. E, having rolled very occasionally over the last few weeks, cracked rolling yesterday and coundn't go 10 mins without doing it. Very cute but back to front is a lot easier than front to back so I had to flip a frustrated little girl at 1.30, 3 and 6.30.

Maybebabybee · 25/07/2016 07:32

Tri sorry to hear that, you poor thing

E same night as usual - up every 3 hours! Don't mind though.

DS isn't rolling. He flips over onto his side a lot but never quite manages to roll! He's 19 weeks.

Dottydoodoo · 25/07/2016 08:06

We had a good night here, DS slept from 8pm to 6am! I'm dreading this 4 month sleep regression I keep hearing about!

My DS is desperately trying to roll from his back to his front, he gets so far and then just lays on his side grunting in frustration! I gave him a little helpful push yesterday when he was almost there and he was so happy when he realised he had got over there. He's funny, he is really not keen on tummy time but after ending up on his tummy after the roll he was quite happy to be there and was grinning his little head off!

DomesticAnarchist · 25/07/2016 10:02

Morning all,

Sympathy for your dodgy boob TriJo.

DS1 rolled once fairly early on but then didn't do it again till he was about 10 months. DS2 will roll as soon as you put him down. And now rolls over into our bed overnight to demand feeding! (Only back to front so far too)

I love camping; after a night to settle in DS1 went feral and everyone was happy! But I do so love coming back to our actual house with a real bed and running water!

Dotty DS is only a week off 5 months (can't believe it!! Where have our teeny babies gone?!) and so far we haven't had any sleep regression. In fact we've had the opposite - he started sleeping through most nights when we moved him to his own room a few weeks ago. So it might not happen to you! Or I might get one at 6 months or 9 months instead Grin

DS only really got rolling about a week ago. Before that he'd done it a few times but almost by accident and didn't really know how to do it again. Then it just clicked one day and he was off! He has now become much harder to put down for naps as he thinks it's hilarious to just roll all over his cot instead of sleep.

Sympathies on the boob Tri. One of my NCT friends recently had a bout of mastitis that took 3 courses of antibiotics to clear! Best go back to the doctor if it doesn't feel right.

Has anyone been using a bumbo or similar? DS is desperate to sit up but his version of sitting at the moment is to lean so far forward on his hands that is face is practically on the floor, usually bring up a bit of sick because that position puts pressure on his tummy, and then topple over. So I thought a bumbo might help but then he will be able to sit better in another month or so anyway so it seems like a lot of money for something that will be used for a pretty short period. I guess I could look for a used one on the fb selling sites.

FirstTimeMummy25 · 25/07/2016 12:13

Me- my SIL told me about an app called Varage Sale not sure if you heard about it? I've just got a only used once bumbo sigh tray for £10, my dads picking it up for me as it's by where he works so haven't got it until he visits at some point this week but much better then paying full price as you say for it not to be used much

FS84 · 25/07/2016 12:52

No bumbo here but DS is wanting to sit up all the time so we got a Jumperoo. Could have got a cheap one second hand but I he really wanted the Finding Nemo one Grin

Swearwolf · 25/07/2016 13:10

S is absolutely loving her bumbo, she loves being up and looking about. We had it for Christmas when ds was about three months and I felt like it was a massive waste of money as he didn't like sitting in it. This time we're definitely getting our money's worth! So I guess it depends on your baby, but there are always people selling them second hand if you're not sure.

Sorry about your boob trijo!

I've just bought a new Sophie giraffe, of all the things we kept from ds it had to be the bloody 12 quid teether we couldn't find! Nothing else is quite cutting it though.

magpiedreams · 25/07/2016 17:09

trijo Sorry to hear about dodgy boob. I'm afraid I'm in the same camp and feeling your pain. It's my 'good' one that's dodgy this time though! Felt a bit sore feeding him at a friends this morning then I got home and had a proper look and its 50% red and engorged and getting worse as the day goes on, pumping and feeding (with pain +++) all afternoon but still sore and feels like my nipple might drop off any minute. First 2 babies and never had anything like this! Seems wrong 3rd baby, still probs at 4 months Confused
What's happening with you? Did antibiotics help quickly last time? Hope it's clearing up for you.
