We're into thread 2! Can't believe our babies have been here this long!

Haquoi how is ds now? Could it have been a tooth or wind? Dd has had a couple of episodes like that and they are not fun!

clumsypots · 17/09/2016 20:57

Hi everyone hope you are all doing ok and sleeping/teething is getting easier for you all. Sorry not been in touch much everything is rather stressful here.

Thanks for all the nappy rash advice it's cleared up now just in time for a random viral rash to appear in its place, oh the joys of nursery!

troika We haven't received the application form for secondary school yet but dd sat the 11+ last weekend. Can't believe she's old enough to be moving up next year.

cud I have no idea what I want to do as a job! Something more interesting than I am doing now which is not entirely helpful Grin

haquoi123 · 20/09/2016 20:39

troika are you getting some rest? ds is doing much better (not with sleeping but the screaming has stopped) - we finally attached the cot to the bed which is doing wonders for my back, even if sleep hasn't got any better! I'm dreading when he starts to crawl and climb and we have to think of a new solution. I think the episodes were teething and we've got our hands on some teething gel, which does the trick!

clumsy how did your dd do? Best of luck to her!

I contacted the nursery and said I'd had some work cancelled which meant that we couldn't now afford nursery. It's all true, just not the full reason. They've been very good about it and my guilt has transferred to not putting him in nursery now Confused But it's definitely the right decision.

Back to work properly tomorrow - very part time but there's lots of admin from home and I'm feeling the pressure. I've already mucked up the timetable and had to change lesson times, sodding baby brain! I almost burst into tears today. Hopefully once I'm back it should be ok.

Haquoi - Good luck with work tomorrow! I'm actually doing my first KIT day tomorrow. DS is going to my mum and dad, and I have to (literally) put on my big girls knickers and go to work!

Troika · 20/09/2016 21:22

Ah glad you reached a decision Haquoi Smile

Dd has done a few nights with 3.5 hour stretches so great improvement. Feel a lot more rested than the awful nights we had been having. Hopefully progress will continue!

Clumsy how did Dd feel about the 11+? We don't have it here. Been to an open evening this evening for her preferred school, she loved it.

Troika · 20/09/2016 21:23

Good luck tomorrow Haquoi and handbag

clumsypots · 20/09/2016 23:16

Oh haq I hope you feel better about it all soon, glad you made the right decision for you all. I hope work goes well tomorrow, you too handbag

Dd said the 11+ Was easier than she expected and came out smiling. Not convinced she will pass but I figured she wanted to do it so I should let her try. We just went through stuff at home, I think we were the only ones who didn't get a tutor. We went to local schools last week and she really likes them so I'm happy whatever the outcome is.

haquoi123 · 21/09/2016 07:20

Best of luck today handbag, hope you enjoy it :)

That's great with the sleeping troika! Ds only had one wakeup last night Shock (although he did sleep in our bed all night) but I feel like I actually slept decently for once. Unfortunately we all woke up with DH's alarm.

clumsy that's great your dd is feeling so good about it :)

I've broken the thread!!

OP posts:
clumsypots · 28/09/2016 15:22

Sorry haq I'm still here just life getting in the way as usual. How are you? are you feeling any better?

How is everyone else doing?

clarabellski · 29/09/2016 07:46

Hey sorry been a busy few days!

We have been getting leaks over night recently since ds started favouring his front to sleep. Willy is facing down etc so I think it's the nappy. Does anyone use a nighttime nappy and if so what do you recommend?
Cheers! X x

haquoi123 · 29/09/2016 10:15

The last couple of nights have been awful for sleeping, plus ds and I have a cold :( DH and I sat down last night to chat, we're exhausted. I'm going to ask my mum to take him next week for a full night so we can get a whole night's sleep. We think it's time!

Clara are you using disposables or reusables. We realised that we're using too small a sized disposable nappy for night tummy sleeping, ended up going up a couple of sizes. Reusables, we use either a bamboo terry square or bamboozle stretch with three little lamb bamboo boosters, one folded at the front. We've given up with wool soakers now he's tummy sleeping and have a motherease airflow wrap.

Had a couple of scary experiences yesterday. DH took ds for a walk and when he got back left him in his pram. We both deemed him to be safe and happy so didn't poke our heads round the door for a couple of minutes. When I next did, he'd pulled the raincover full over his face. Luckily it had airholes and he was fine, but it really shook me. DH & I argued about it (he thought I was accusing him, which I wasn't at all) so I went to take the baby upstairs and missed the step, falling up the stairs and banging the baby's leg, who let out a cry I'd not heard before. Luckily he was fine, we had a cuddle for a bit, but it suddenly felt so scary trying to keep him safe. We haven't baby proofed at all, we're not prepared for him to crawl, or climb. This morning he tried to eat my phone charger! Argh!

How are you doing clumsy, clara and everyone else? Are the nights better troika?

OP posts:
Troika · 29/09/2016 10:31

Haquoi it's scary how suddenly they develop and you need to be so on the ball!

We're moving soon which I could do without tbh. Plus dp is adamant we can do it ourselves, no need for removal firm.

Dd had started doing 3.5/4 hr stretches but has had a terrible cold since the weekend so hasn't slept at all really. Drops off then wakes coughing or bunged up. I am so tired and snappy Sad. My brain is getting eroded by the day.

CarrotPuff · 29/09/2016 15:43

Hi everyone, sorry fell off the thread again!

We're going through 6 months sleep regression here, although DD turned 7 months yesterday... I think she's improved a little for the last couple nights, so fx we are coming to the end of it!

DS has dropped his nap, which is quite a relief actually, as we no longer have our day sliced in half.

Brew and Cake and Wine all around for all the sleep deprived!

clarabellski · 29/09/2016 21:19

Thanks! Have put him in a size 5 tonight so we will see how that goes! It looks huge on him! Half way up his torso!

Hope sleep gets better for you all. we have had a couple of. Olds running into each other in the past few weeks which has meant a few disturbed nights but hopefully over worst (especially as we are away for a long weekend tomorrow!)

CarrotPuff · 30/09/2016 13:00

We've got first teeth!

Troika · 30/09/2016 13:16

Clara I guess if that doesn't work you could try adding a booster in to the nappy, something like this www.gnappies.com/collections/disposable/products/disposable-inserts

Boot used to do a disposable nappy booster when Dd was a baby but don't think they do any more

Troika · 30/09/2016 13:25

Yay carrot! Dds first one is just through too.

Any of you that use reusable nappies I have just put a post in the for sale section. Some brand new nappies/wraps etc

Troika · 30/09/2016 13:26

Ps Clara I now have the image of the grandparents running around crashing into each other and keeping baby awake Grin

clarabellski · 01/10/2016 00:09

Haha! Just noticed my typo Blush

cudbywestrangers · 01/10/2016 07:58

Morning all! Sorry been a bit quiet but nothing much doing here...

Yay for teeth! Think we have the top ones just coming through at the moment along with a sore bum and loads of snot.

Try not too feel too bad haq. These things happen and ds is OK. It is scary that they suddenly get so wriggly. I nearly dropped babycud on his head the other day Shock we also haven't done any baby proofing and are on the verge of crawling so need to get on the case...

I could do with some nappies and wraps troika how do I find the thread? Off to have a look...

Enjoy the weekend folks. I can't believe I now consider 0630 a bit of a lie in

HandbagFan · 01/10/2016 09:19

Morning all!

DS is chatting away while playing with a wet wipe after his breakfast of brioche and yoghurt. He's been really snotty this week as teeth number 3 and 4 make their appearance but seems a bit better today.

Weaning is my main focus at the moment - we seem to have found a pattern that works but I'm watching his milk and food intake like a hawk! Still pumping despite saying I was giving up at 6m... it's just such a big thing to stop him having something that's good for him and he enjoys to make my life easier! I'm down to 4 pumps a day which is more manageable so we'll see what happens!

6-9m clothes are not that big anymore! I've bought a few bits like leggings and vests in 9-12 ready as they're usually the first thing he grows out of.

On naps, he was usually on 4 a day. He now goes back to bed 7-8.30 with me, then a nap around 11, one around 1, and another around 4. The first two are 20 mins or so but the last one is sometimes a couple of hours and I take full advantage by napping with him when I can!

cudbywestrangers · 01/10/2016 19:06

The chatting is lovely isn't it! And who needs toys when you have a packet of baby wipes? Speaking of which, I managed not to take any on day out today Blush

Jealous of the naps handbag some days we're only getting 2 x 20 minutes!

But today we have hand clapping Smile

CarrotPuff · 01/10/2016 19:25

Aww, I love when they start clapping those little hands. So cute!

DD finally learned to roll over back to front. DS started sleeping better when he started sleeping on his front, although it probably was a combination of factors, and I'm secretly hoping DD will too... She's not too bad but last night she was awake from 2.30 to gone 4... Confused although she then slept till 7, when she's normally up at 6.

We are between 2 and 3 naps here.
