Also jealous of all your nice weather, bloody cold and overcast in the North East today!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 12/05/2016 20:39

Poppins we already have the gro clock but DD1 has decided/realised she can just ignore it Sad

Things fine with me and DH as we generally get over arguments quickly and were both aware that it was mostly tiredness.

DD2 was weighed yesterday at 8 weeks and is now 12lb! Still on the 75th percentile..she seems so big to me as DD1 was on 50th centile.

Sorry to hear about your horrific evening Dom. DD1 has been a pain in the arse this evening but not that bad. Think she has finally gone to sleep - she's taken to refusing to stay in bed at night this week as well as getting up early

marmiteandcheeseplease · 12/05/2016 20:40

PS maybe DD2 also fusses at boob during day but not at night. I was feeding her on a bench in town today and she kept doing it and I was flashing my boob to the whole world! But tbh I don't think or care if anyone noticed!

1frenchfoodie · 12/05/2016 21:02

maybe same here, about 50% of day feeds she fusses, comes on and off, smushes face in boob and shakes head etc where night feeds are really calm. I think there is a vicious circle with wind causing and being caused by this behaviour though infacol helps.

Missikat · 12/05/2016 21:51

Dom, sorry to hear about your rough evening with DS1, but awesome both boys are now in bed. I laughed at you 'hiding' him in the bath...I thought you meant hiding him from DS1!

Marmite, glad to hear you've made up with DH. Tiredness really makes things so much worse than they should be doesn't it?

We got back from hospital after just one night, thankfully all is fine and Zach is ok. Thanks for your thoughts. Seems it was just maybe a rash caused by an ongoing viral infection he's had (a month long bunged up nose). Very worrying but so pleased he's all ok.

The weather was glorious here again today (after two days of pissing rain) so we spent all day at the garden centre/in the garden planting out the plants we bought which was lovely. especially as the whole mini heatwave we were stuck in the hospital

With regard to naps, I have no idea what times/how much Z naps Blush. Second child syndrome means a lot less attention paid to the specifics! The last few days he's been very awake in the afternoons, today from about 1-5 until I put him in the sling then he slept. He's almost always guaranteed to sleep in the car/pushchair or sling during the day but only really in his Moses basket if he's first fallen asleep on me first (although at the mo even if he's fast asleep within two mins of putting him down he wakes and screams!).

His nighttime sleep is pretty fab at the moment. He's normally restless and cries a lot during the evening but after his bottle at 10-11ish he generally goes until anywhere between 4-5.45am! It means I'm feeling well and truly human at the moment. Just to test things out, the night before last he'd had his bottle earlier as I was out at my belly dance class so I thought i'd breastfeed him before bed instead of him having a bottle. Cue him waking every 1-1.5 hours all night! It's strange as often his bottle is breastmilk just with a scoop of his special formula added so why it should make such a difference I don't know? Maybe because your supply is lower in the evening? Has anyone else experienced the difference in sleep between after bottle/breast?

DomesticAnarchist · 12/05/2016 22:40

Yes, Q, the peace is bliss! He woke anyway for a good feed (plan was to engineer another evening feed & last nappy change), plan now is to dream feed in the next hour and then hope for a long sleep.

Boob-fussing here is usually when he's had enough and wants to suck but doesn't want milk. He gets cross with the milk! A dummy helps here, but he likes to stay snuggled in that feeding position for a bit ( he's usually tired and needing help to fall asleep)

Ah, marmite, DS1 usually mucks around at bedtime. He's often in & out of bed, hides on the stairs and peeks at the tv (this worries me the most, but I remember doing it too!). We go through a lot of reward charts! So, sympathies on that front!

Missi! Glad Zach is ok. Must've been so worrying for you.

docmcstuffins1 · 12/05/2016 22:48

Ollie does the shakey head, grunts boob anger thing too - glad it's not just me. I think it's wind too as if I take him off and call time out wind him he goes back on better.

We've got to go to a funeral next week which will involve a 5 hour car journey (with my parents) each way, and an overnight stay in hotel. I'm feeling a little apprehensive as everything is more difficult away from home when you have everything around you, and also DH can't come as he has to work, so will be flying solo in a strange environment.

Not heard from time for a few days, hope she's ok.

Missikat · 12/05/2016 22:55

I agree, Time I hope you're ok and you got some support/help/a better or more understanding GP. It will get better.

Hope Beaut is back with is soon too.

Here's my gorge little man during his hospital stay....still no smiles on camera yet tho!

March 2016 Babies Thread #11 - We've got smiley babies, screaming babies and farty babies!
ffauxlivia · 13/05/2016 01:23

Hi all,

With regards to how long they should be napping etc, a friend sent me this which I have found quite useful. It says nap times at this age should be 30 mins to 2 hours and they will likely be awake for 1hr - 1hr 45 mins between naps. You're aiming for 11-15 hours sleep over a 24 her period, But not to sweat it if baby isn't following that every day. I try to monitor nap times on my app but keep forgetting! Look out for gaze aversion as the first sign of tiredness before they yawn

A belated congrats to marmite, gorgeous dress! Sorry to hear of a rough couple of days following though!

time and beaut still thinking of you both
missi so glad Zach is okay, it just have been so scary for you. Gorgeous pic, he's looking so much bigger now!! It's incredible how well he's doing, all things considered

We've had a difficult week here - S's reflux/vomiting is so severe that she's dropped right off her weight curve, from the 25th centile to the 12th Sad It's really hard to get her to eat more as she either refuses to eat or sicks it back up again

We saw a pediatrician but there's not much we can do but wait for her to outgrow it, which might be months. She's gave us a different medication to try but I looked it up online and not sure I want to use it, but then again she seems in so much pain sometimes we may have no choice. After her jabs she was placid and sleepy for 24 hours and was so much calmer, I feel really bad saying this but part of me wished she was like that all the time as she was a joy to look after, and was smiling and cooing more. But she is who she is and it's not her fault, bless her.

Anyway sorry for the moan, just feeling a bit helpless and frustrated!

dobbythedoggy · 13/05/2016 03:54

Eddy is suffering here post jabs. Only settled lying on my chest, has such a horrible cry if I even attempt to put him down. Keeps jumping and opening his eyes looking so alarmed.

ffaux that does sound frustrating.

Purpleprickles · 13/05/2016 04:49

Dom and marmite sorry to hear you had bad evenings with older dcs. Mine wasn't great either. Ds now does a grumpy moaning face at every request and stomps around. Last night he went to a friends after school, had a great time and then stropped at having to have a shower over a bath to save time because we were late from his friends. I do feel at 7.5 he should be able to follow the logic of these things without a teenage style flounce. He was told off and then cried which always makes me feel evil.

Ffaux sounds like you have been through it this week. What are your worries about the meds?

Dobby poor ds. I hope he settles later today. I'm dreading these jabs.

Right time to sleep again

FirstTimeMummy25 · 13/05/2016 05:18

Dobby- DS was like this, I realised it was when I touched his legs where he had the injections or if his was led on his legs.only lasted a couple of days.
Hope you managed to get some sleep x

Purpleprickles · 13/05/2016 06:19

Parenting fail. We forgot to leave money from the tooth fairy. Dh just did it while ds was with me but I'm sure he's not convinced by my 'she's had a busy night' story. He's such a believer of these things too. Feel rubbish. This wouldn't have happened if we weren't sleep deprived.

MrsElls · 13/05/2016 07:52

Dobby that was just how C was after her jabs, did only last about 12 hours though and then she slept a whole day.
Purple I've heard that the tooth fairy leaves more money if she is late... Wink What is the going rate these days?

maybebabybee · 13/05/2016 08:19

Glad it's not just me with a baby angry with the boob! Poor thing had a little fever yesterday evening, a whole 24 hours after the jabs. He was fine for the first 24 hours weirdly. Bit of calpol sorted it and he is fine now but I didn't get much sleep as was worrying about him.

docmcstuffins1 · 13/05/2016 08:37

Ffaux sorry to hear you're having a hard time, it's so difficult when they're unsettled isn't it. Which medication is it you're worried about?

Missi what a gorgeous photo, sooo cute!

We have O's jabs in Monday, not looking forward to it. The dogs have got their boosters on the same day so going to have grumpy dogs too!

Me624 · 13/05/2016 09:36

Missi lovely picture of Zach. Hard to believe he was so teeny when you look at him now!

Sending you hugs ffaux. I take my hat off to all of you dealing with high needs babies. The only consolation with reflux is that they do grow out of it.

DS has fallen asleep on me and my cup of tea is out of reach Sad I daren't move him! He didn't sleep so well last night, I am so rubbish at recognising what the problem is in the night - took me about 2 hours to realise last night that he was cold because I had the window open and he sleeps next to it. Bad mother alert!

DomesticAnarchist · 13/05/2016 14:25

So this morning I read ffaux's sheet about naps & sleep and looked at DS2's sleep log and thought we were way off consolidating naps into longer sleeps, but we're now up to 2.5hrs of the second nap of the day!

This is weird. I haven't used the time wisely!

But I'm going to have to wake him to feed him before school run & swimming.

Hope everyone's having a lovely day.

ffauxlivia · 13/05/2016 16:08

dom yay for naps, hope the info was helpful

The reflux medication is omeprazole to reduce the stomach acid. We were originally on ranitidine, an antacid, but it hadn't made much difference. I read some not so great things on the internet, but gave it to her in the end as hate seeing her in so much pain. It can take a week to work and she spat up most of it so think we are in for a difficult few more days :(

me I wasted so many cups of teas with that happening, so I started making it in a flask every morning and it lasts me 3 hours now Smile

QforCucumber · 13/05/2016 16:20

Argh - been to dentist and apparently I need 7 fillings, I was shaking having the check up so god knows what I'm going to be like next Friday when I go in for the fillings. They did a scale and polish and since I got home I think I've also lost part of a tooth too Sad pregnancy did not agree with my teeth.
Does anywhere still put you to sleep for fillings? I'm so scared just thinking about going back in.

magpiedreams · 13/05/2016 16:21

ffaux I've heard really positive stories about omreprazole so hope it does the trick for you.

DS2 has a definite posterior tongue tie so we are off for the snip tonight. There's no NHS service for this where we are so we can either travel an hour and wait 3 weeks or go private so we're going private. Ouch at that and thank goodness for the NHS generally!

dobbythedoggy · 13/05/2016 16:31

Looks like we're out the other side of post jabs fever! Just been able to put eddy down to sleep in his bouncer for an hour for the first time since yesterday. He was so hot still when dd woke up for the day at 7 and had had all the calpol he could I ended up calling 111. They were really helpful. Our gp called when they opened and worked out the dosage for him to have ibuprofen as well which really helped. For anyone worrying it might be useful to have ibuprofen in as well and make sure you gave a recent weight before jabs.

Me624 · 13/05/2016 16:52

ffaux a flask is a good idea! I hope the medication starts working quickly for DD.

Q bless you 7 fillings is a lot Sad I've got the dentist in a couple of weeks and I'm sure I'm going to need a few as well. The one good thing is that the maternity exemption lasts until the babies are a year old! But if I do need fillings I'll want one whites so I'll have to pay for them anyway.

My DM has offered to look after DS for the morning in a couple of weeks so I can get my hair done! It desperately needs doing, my highlights were last done just before Christmas Confused and the cut has completely grown out into a shapeless mess. I think I'll go a bit darker so that my roots are less obvious when they grow through the next time - much harder to find time for the hairdresser now and with my stingy mat leave pay I need to cut back on luxuries!

maybebabybee · 13/05/2016 17:28

Q oh no poor you :( I also hate the dentist. I have to have a filling done next week and also am waiting for a referral to hospital to have an impacted wisdom tooth removed which sounds awful. It's not causing me any pain at all but the dentist says she wants it removed before it starts causing trouble.

Is anyone's baby still gassy even after actually burping? It's not very difficult to get a couple of great burps out of DS but he still cries from being in pain with gas afterwards.

Purpleprickles · 13/05/2016 17:49

MrsE I think we got away with it in the end. I should have done extra money, that's a cunning plan Grin The going rate in the Purple household is £1.

Me so nice to be able to get your hair done. I booked at a new salon today because my normal hairdresser is also on mat leave and this one is cheaper nearer. The hairdresser is preg and has convinced me I can have a colour, cut and blow dry with E there as well. I'm sceptical but desperate. I have visions of me pushing her up and down the street with my head in foil!

Dobby poor ds, sounds horrid. I've got nurofen somewhere so I'll have it on hand. We have our 8 week check at the same time so I'm assuming she will be weighed as well?

Missi I forgot to say Zach is gorgeous!!

Time and Beaut if you are ready this hello! *
*
Not done much today, some shopping and I went to the library because I really need to start reading again and not spend any free time watching Modern Family. Dom it's good you didn't do much while ds slept, I'm making the most of this mat leave and you should too Grin
