Poor little man Q. Sounds like he's caught the cough/cold bug that's going around. I'm sure it's the constant change in weather that causes them. Is he eating ok? You could try putting him in the bathroom when you shower. The hot steamy air might help him. And raising one end of his cot at night and holding him more upright for longer after feeding might help.

I don't know if dr could give him anything more than Calpol but others on here might have better advice.

Great cheesecake Mship!

QforCucumber · 03/06/2016 09:32

He didn't feed for 3 hours, then fed for 10 mins just now and had a coughing spurt and brought what seemed to be most of it back up again. poor little man its horrid. Have booked into see gp as we are on his last gaviscon sachet anyway so at least need more of that for the weekend. He's still smiling and giggling and no snotty nose or anything - just this dry rattly cough.

mship I really want a cheesecake with raspberrys now!

Swearwolf · 03/06/2016 09:50

Poor sausage Q, glad you're getting it looked at. I don't know about your surgery, but my doctors will always do anything to fit a baby in, even if it's just with the nurse. It's so hard to know when to go in isn't it, you don't want to waste their time and look like a hysterical new mother, but you don't want to miss something potentially serious, or look negligent for not bringing them sooner if it doesn't get better. It's a minefield! Hope you get sorted out.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 03/06/2016 10:20

Glad you got an appointment q. Hope it all goes well.

Crap night here - DD2 up every two hours from 7pm to feed. Knackered. DH has gone to Berlin this morning for a stag do and isn't back till Sunday! Am hiding out at the in-laws today as my sil is a teacher and off for half term so has taken dd1 out to a toddler group to entertain her and I'm lazing on the soda with dd2 asleep on me. Had surprise call from my sister this morning who needs to stay at mine tomorrow so she can get into London for a christening on Sunday. Means I'll have my nephew round to entertain DD1 tomorrow afternoon, which means I only have to entertain her by myself tomorrow morning. Very thankful, but dreading the nights as dd1 has woken up the past two nights and I've no idea what I'll do if they're both up at the same time! Confused

TheMshipIsBack · 03/06/2016 12:15

q glad to hear you're getting to see a doctor today, sounds scary. Hopefully just the virus going round at the moment.

marmite I haven't been stuck overnight yet with both kids, but frequently have a conflict of needs around 5-6 pm. DS needs his dinner and a bath, and T is often wanting a feed or just being grumpy and wanting me to hold her. I prioritize DS initially, letting T cry somewhere safe, then feed/cuddle her while he gets on with eating or bathing. DH gets home just after six and takes whichever kid is annoying me most!

Can't wait to get into that cheesecake tomorrow. Raspberries are a brilliant idea - maybe I'll get a few different types of berries and put them in bowls for people to choose.

Me624 · 03/06/2016 12:28

The cheesecake looks delicious MShip!

Q hope the doctor goes ok. DS had a nasty cough last week which had us up virtually all night one night. I gave him calpol and some baby cough syrup which really helped the following night. Reflux must make it even worse for your poor DS Sad

Not much to report here, DS and I have been quite bored this week as most of our classes and groups have been off for half term. And the weather has been so miserable!

QforCucumber · 03/06/2016 16:05

Thanks all, Dr checked his chest and the cough is definitely not from there which is good. She thinks it's triggered from the acid reflux irritating his throat, been given more gaviscon and also ranitidine so fingers crossed we have a happier baby tomorrow. She said I shouldn't feel silly for worrying as when she heard his cough she said anyone would have worried.

marmite sounds like a busy weekend hopefully tire baby out enought to sleep through the night Smile

marmiteandcheeseplease · 03/06/2016 16:10

Glad the doctors went ok q . Hope the gaviscon and ranitidine help.

We've had a sleepless day as well as night here - DD2 has barely napped all day even in the sling and is really struggling. According to the wonder weeks app she's right in the middle of a developmental leap and with DD1 I found this always coincided with lack of sleep so hoping it's just that and we'll get through it soon.

Paperblank · 03/06/2016 17:51

M is a real snoozy suzie today. She's had a busy few days and they appear to have worn her out. I'm pinned to the sofa though as she yells and screams if I try to put her down.

The only time she wakes up is for a feed!

Purpleprickles · 03/06/2016 23:12

Q glad to hear ds is ok. E has been sneezy and coughing today so I think we are heading for a cold too.

MShip yum to that evil cheesecake!!

Feeling quite proud of myself tonight, it's the end of my solo half term week with two children and I've managed to do as much as I would have done with just ds. I was nervous about being on my own with two and worried we wouldn't get out as much as we used to but we did. It does help that ds is 7 and very helpful with E, not sure it would be that smooth with a toddler. He came to baby sensory with us today and did all the activities with her while I sat next to them. I'm sure she loved it more with him leading. Totally made my heart swell Smile

dobbythedoggy · 03/06/2016 23:39

So eddy is sleeping peacefully beside me and I'm tucked up in bed but just lying here listening to dd breath. Poor thing suddenly started to feel ill as we were winding down for bed time, high temp and crying in pain. Finally got her to sleep and just realised it's probably a reaction to her booster jabs last week but don't want to wake her to check her over!

Sunshine has meant we've spent loads of time in the garden so must catch up with every thing.

DomesticAnarchist · 04/06/2016 04:38

Glad all is ok, Q.

Well done Purple!

Ahh, poor thing, dobby. Hope she's feeling better.

We made it cross-country. Both boys were brilliant in the car (it took all day with traffic and feed/change stops).

DS2 probably would have slept through but I woke up and he was stirring so I fed him. But my breast pad on the other side had gone wonky and now I'm going to have to stealthily root around in the bag in the dark to find a new top. D'oh!

Paperblank · 04/06/2016 08:26

Sympathy to everyone who has snuffles. It's not nice Sad. I bought one of those calpol plug in vaporiser which seems to help M. Might be worth a go if you've not already tried it?

Was out and about yesterday with some RL mum friends. We were all saying that the babies are drooling like crazy and taking a real interest in food. I can't quite get my head round the fact that I'll be weaning her before I know it. These (once) tiny babies are growing so fast.

Me624 · 04/06/2016 09:52

Paper i was thinking the same, I can't believe how fast 3 months has gone and the next 3 will just whizz by I'm sure. DS is drooling loads too and tried to grab a crisp from my plate the other day!

I was late to bed last night (11pm! How life has changed!) but it's like DS knew it and decided to be kind to me - he stirred slightly at 3am which I sorted by quickly popping his dummy back in and then he slept until 6am! So pleased with my little man!

TheMshipIsBack · 04/06/2016 12:51

Reporting back re cheesecake, it was delicious! Had a lovely morning low pressure birthday party for DS with just the PILs and our next door neighbours (kids similar ages to DS). DS is pretty shy and asked only for those guests plus my parents, but they'll sing him happy birthday over Skype later due to the time difference.

T slept in the sling on DH the whole time and my boobs were busting by the time she woke up!

QforCucumber · 05/06/2016 04:14

marmite hopefully naptime returns soon for you, that's my 'get stuff done' time.

paper I hope you embraced sofa time and relaxed, and that she slept through the night as well as she did in the day.

Ahhh purple now these weenies are getting bigger ill bet it's amazing it see the bond they'll create with brothers and sisters.

The ranitidine is amazing, ds just slept for 7 hours! I now feel awful at how uncomfortable he must have been over the last few weeks of waking every 2 hours if just 2 doses has resulted in a real nights sleep!

Paperblank · 05/06/2016 11:39

Well....DH is a big fat fibber. He told me that it would be 25 degrees and sunny today. It's not.

M is such a delight atm. I'm so lucky. She has her moments when she's a complete beast but by and large she's lovely. She woke up beaming this morning Grin.

Anyone got any exciting plans for today? And by exciting I mean anything above and beyond pegging out the washing!

OP posts:
MrsElls · 05/06/2016 12:12

Glad the party went well mship and the meds are helping q.

paper its lovely where we are at the moment so maybe the sun will head your way soon. We haven't got an exciting day today, packing for a holiday tomorrow to south of France Smile. Dh booked the flights and didn't book any checked bags Hmm he thinks we can manage with hand luggage only, its only 4 days but two adults, a toddler and a baby!

QforCucumber · 05/06/2016 12:30

paper it's glorious here in the NE sat in the garden with a sandwich, baby sleeping and dp mowing the lawn - blissful.

Paperblank · 05/06/2016 13:43

Still not much sun in Bucks...

MrsElls that is going to take some creative packing. Is it too late to pay to take a bag? I seem to take as much stuff for a weekend away as I do for a week...packing light is not part of my skill set. Hope you have a lovely holiday x

Q any chance your DH could nip down and sort out my garden?

OP posts:
Swearwolf · 05/06/2016 14:11

How exciting MrsE! Definitely try to book on a bag, otherwise you're going to be doing a lot of sink laundry.

Lovely and sunny here in Oxfordshire, surprised you don't have it paper since we're neighbours. I haven't made the most of it though as I've spent the whole day cleaning, my mum is coming up tomorrow and bringing her friend, I don't want her to think I'm grubby (I am). I plan to make cupcakes with ds this afternoon, just been through the book and found a recipe for nutella ones, yumyumyum!

1frenchfoodie · 05/06/2016 15:20

Sunny here in cambridgeshire, sitting in garden with ear out for E who has been napping well despite now settling into sleeping 11pm to 4/5am. Washing done, had cleaning blitz yesterday so house looking okay, even had a 30 min stroll with the pram this am which I am terming exercise. If I ignore the holes, chewed up plants and dead patches of grass created by our puppy I may even be able to relax.

RhubarbAndMustard · 05/06/2016 16:31

Sunny here in Kent. I've mowed the lawn and tidyed the garden, now enjoying my new reclining chairs with DS1 in the paddling pool. J has napped loads. I love summer!

Ohwoolballs · 05/06/2016 16:48

Hello hello! I've been slack with updates but just had a catch up.
Seems to be a mix of good sleepers and sniffles, I hope you and your babes are all feeling better.

Yesterday we went out for a pub lunch with BiL and his girlfriend and G slept in his pram the whole time, yessssss. Today was walking in the sun with him sleeping in the sling, going to a craft fair in Leeds. He was so good, come home and he's chowing down after weeing all over DP 😄

MShip the birthday party sounds like my perfect one. Your DS has good taste.

vroc81 · 05/06/2016 17:38

Hello! Toasty here in Sussex too! I've been animal watching for a friend this weekend so lots of tooing and froing which is a bit annoying in this weather but have had a lovely walk round a NT gardens this afternoon and tested our new carrier - we got a connecta in the end, she seems to like it as she can see out and her only concern was working out how to get her thumb in her mouth in that position to sleep....

She's now bouncing on her mat on the finally mown and reduced from knee height lawn with DH.. Love the sunshine!!

Mship glad the party and the cheesecake went well, sounds perfect!

MrsE hope you've managed you rocking and have a good time!
