Hiya stacks welcome back. Don't bother reading back just join in.
nutella she's back tomorrow - yay! I'm finishing work early to pick her up from the coach and we've not got any plans for the weekend so lots of hanging out time.

MrsNutella · 29/09/2016 21:43

wl what was she away for? And where? If it isn't too identifying.

Tonight DS decided to give up his dummies. We were finishing dinner and I said I would like to sleep on my own. Not go hunting for dummies in the middle of the night. And wake up on my own.
Then DS said he would give his dummies to the dummy fairy. I felt really bad about it actually, Confused like I guilted him into it. The dummy fairy has written him a lovely thank you note and left it with some gummi Bears in the post box. Tomorrow I have to go and buy him a skateboard.... Because that was his wish.

So.... Wish us luck for a quiet night!

PurplePidjin · 29/09/2016 21:50

Hi stacks

Hope she had fun so also nosy

Fingers crossed nut

We're all booked to go to Scotland on our first holiday in a few weeks. R is immensely excited to be seeing a real volcano, but I suspect he'll be disappointed by the lack of lava...

WLmum · 29/09/2016 22:10

Fab nutella! Fx for a peaceful night.
Scotland is on my to go list pidg. I have only been to Ben Nevis and it was amazing.
Dd1 has been on a residential trip with the school - only about an hour away, set in a forest, loads of great outdoor activities and mud.

WLmum · 29/09/2016 23:03

Weird - I just saw a post in baby names with about 6 names on - you know the help me decide ones, 2 of my dds names are there!! All my dds have fairly unusual names so weird indeed. Someone obvs has good taste!

MrsNutella · 30/09/2016 06:34

WL Grin for sharing name taste.

I remember one person commenting that the names of our DC our really nice and well matched and someone else when they met DS saying his was a "silly" name. They were both pretty much complete strangers and I find it easy to not care. But it is always interesting that names provoke strong feelings.

The night was fine. DS needed a bit of extra cuddling at bedtime. Then this morning he asked for a dummy but it was pretty much time to get up anyway. So we told him how grown up he was and how proud we are.

He would often sleep without them and only request then as a crutch to help him back to sleep really. I have to go shopping for a skateboard today.

We had to go downstairs and look for the bag of dummies - which was gone. And we found the letter and he ate the gummi Bears and was quite pleased. If a little disappointed that his skateboard wasn't there

PurplePidjin · 30/09/2016 14:06

wl I've never even crossed the border! Waved at mull and sang the song from NI but not actually been over. So excited!!! Hope she had fun?

Both my boys names come up regularly on here but I've not met another R and only an occasional S in to

Hurrah mrsnut R wants a skateboard, I'm not so sure. Although he enjoys his roller skates

halestone · 30/09/2016 14:52

Hi Stacks

WL yay its time for you to see DD1.

Nutella we used the fairies to take away H's bottles.

We have about 3 H's where we live.

Pidj, Scotland is also on my to do list. I hope you all have an amazing time.

Stacks · 30/09/2016 19:40

I remember why I found MN so hard to keep up on. I can never remember who said what, and on the app you can't look back to check. So sorry, this is all going to be a bit untargetted.

We live in Scotland, it's a lovely place, if a little cold. Are you coming to Edinburgh or elsewhere? I can maybe recommend a couple of parks and places to go if you're coming to Edinburgh.

I would never have thought to get T a skateboard or roller skates. Both are potentially a great Christmas present idea though. He continues to show almost no interest in toys, so I've been looking at all sorts of options for more physical stuff he could maybe do. I was thinking along the lines of those stilts they stand on with string to hold, 'teeter toppers' wobbly board for standing on, an air rocket (jump on a plunger and shoot a foam thing in the air). He's still no good on his balance bike though, so we would have to see. That said, he's had no practice as I just haven't had the space to get him out much on it.

I can't imagine sending one of my kids away for the week. I'm sure you get a bit more used to it when they're older, but it must still be pretty tough (even though I occasionally fantasise about kid free time). I will actually have my first ever kid free night this weekend. PILs are taking DH and the kids for the night tomorrow. It'll be E's (2) first night without me and I'm just hoping it goes well.

As for us, we've not long moved house, so are settling in to new routines, play groups, nursery and area. All seems to be going quite well, though T has started to push and hit other children at nursery. Not like him, so I'm of course worrying he's feeling sad and unsettled after the move. Need to get a. It of real 1-1 time with him sometime soon. It's so hard having a little sister!

MrsNutella · 30/09/2016 19:43

Ohhhh just peeked at baby names and there is a thread for DS Wink I love his name. They both seem to suit their names.

having said hat he was a giant arsehole at bedtime. The dummy fairy brought him a skateboard and let him have a little airplane too because it had the union flag on it and I couldn't resist of course the airplane was too exciting for him to have in bed.

And DD insisted on singing at dinner time. No one else was allowed to join in "me" she said. Even when I only nodded my head "by mummy, you not. Me!"
I'm curious what future plays and displays she will put on for the entire world to watch at her bidding us.

PurplePidjin · 30/09/2016 20:10

Stacks we're coming to Edinburgh, R is volcano mad so we need to climb Arthur's seat, and we'll do the zoo as well. That should mostly fill our 3 days by the time we've eaten, walked round etc

I'm not a fan of the app, prefer the mobile site!

WLmum · 30/09/2016 21:50

Lovely to have her sweet little face back! She was knackered and grubby - I ran her a big bubble bath with candles and she laid in it for an hour listening to her Harry Potter audio book.
stacks you build up to it - she's been away in year 3,4 and now 5, increasing the nights each year. Also been away with brownies.

MrsNutella · 02/10/2016 12:27

stacks the app is pants but you can close the post you're working on to look at the thread again without losing what you had already written.... IYSWIM

WL you sound like a great mum! I bet she had a great time away and is happy to be home.

I was saying to DH last night that one day we will be sitting here on our own on a Saturday night and the kids will be off doing their own thing. There is a pet of me that can't wait for that; and a part of me that is glad they're little and I can enjoy cuddling and kissing them Grin

WLmum · 02/10/2016 13:17

I'm currently sat in a&e with dd2 who had some seizures this morning for no apparent reason. She seems fine now but waiting to get properly checked out. She's had them in the past for different reasons.
Poor thing - today was going to be our 121 treat day - ice skating and lunch.

PurplePidjin · 02/10/2016 13:33

Oh no wl hope it's something simple x

MrsNutella · 02/10/2016 13:38

Oh no WL! Hope she is fine. Is there a pattern that seems to set her off? Hope she and everyone else is ok. CakeBrew for you both. And that you still enjoy your day, later.

There was a new student /work experience girl at DD's nursery who had a fit on Friday morning as I was dropping DD off. The kids freaked and so did the staff. I felt useless because I sort of helped the girl as she fell to the floor (she almost fell on us) and then got the attention of the staff and ran off to comfort DD.

I was impressed at how fast the ambulance was though!

I also found out on Friday that a girl I was at school with appears to have died suddenly, which just seems unreal still. Then when I picked up DS from kindergarten he was playing "Dr" with a little girl and then yesterday declared he has a sore willy ConfusedBlush I talked DH through exactly what I saw. There were a couple of things about t that struck me as odd and we are going to have to talk to KiGa about it next week.

Man, yeah, Friday was mad! No wonder I felt so worn out yesterday!

Tomorrow is a bank holiday here - it's Germany's re-unification day. We are meeting friends at the zoo. I guess we will celebrate with chips Wink Hales I'll save some Currywurst for you Grin

WLmum · 02/10/2016 14:28

nutella it just makes you realise that you have to grab life and live it now, not wait until you have more money/time/energy/summer/etc. That poor girls family.
No pattern for dd2 - we had a couple of days in hospital when she was about 18months with seizures - was attributed to a tummy bug and dehydration.
About a year a year ago she fell off her scooter and banged her head (she was wearing a helmet) and had a fit - discharged after obs. But no trigger this time - just an epic game of sweetshops with T and the excitement of her first tooth coming out in a bite of chocolate orange!

WLmum · 02/10/2016 17:44

All tests normal so we'll be on our way home soon and followed up in clinic.

MrsNutella · 02/10/2016 18:57

DS was awful to bring to bed. He spent aaaaages demanding his dummies and generally driving me nuts. I really didn't think he would take so long to get to sleep. But DH thinks we need to put him to bed later. I completely disagree and think he was just wound up after a day at PIL and wanted his dummies.

But, would you please share what time you put your treasures down for the night? DS goes to bed generally for 7pm. He is asleep often around 6:50 ish and sleeps till almost 7 most mornings.

WLmum · 02/10/2016 19:07

Unfortunately dds don't need much sleep so bedtime for T usually starts at 7.30 and she's asleep by 8. Up at 6.45. Occasionally bedtime will be earlier if they're really tired but a bit later also works for us as I'm not in from work until 6.30 ish.

Barbeasty · 02/10/2016 21:29

We start bedtime as soon as we can get away with Smile

It's definitely by 7-7.30, except the one night DD does gymnastics. They are up early though.

Hope your DD is ok WL.

OP posts:
PurplePidjin · 02/10/2016 21:33

Generally we're done by 6:30, R up at 6 S more like 5 at the moment (although he's only just started sleeping through and it's all a bit sporadic still)

ddas · 02/10/2016 22:02

Find it easier to keep up on fb than here as keep losing thread.
Can't believe our little ones are about to turn 4! The older she gets the more I think maybe I will have a 3rd at some point as makes me sad that won't get to do it all at least once more.
Wlmum how's your mum; remember her not being too well. My your dd maybe have a read of reflex atonic seizures before you go to clinic and see if you think any features similar. Just you saying what's triggered them in the past ie being scared, shocked, excitement brought it to mind.

WLmum · 02/10/2016 23:07

Thanks ddas that was the diagnosis after the scooter one, and she is prone to anxiety, but this time she was totally calm and sitting on the floor with me.
Taking dm to get results of latest scan tom - fx chemo is working.
I felt very much like that after having 2 dds, and even did while T was a baby but now I couldn't contemplate having another, and much as I love her craziness, I so look forward to being able to eat in a civilised fashion, not having to help in the toilet etc.

WLmum · 02/10/2016 23:15

ddas it was reflex anoxic seizure after her scooter fall. Could an increase in blood sugar cause it? She had been playing sweet shops with T just before and I suspect a fair amount of sweets were consumed!
