*Cars obviously not cards ; his first love, perhaps even before mummy and daddy !!!!!!

KitKat1985 · 19/01/2017 16:46

Congrats on passing your exam Nazly. Very impressed you can juggle study, work and childcare!

DD's okay with motor skills. She can use a fork and spoon pretty well, and she loves colouring, but doesn't stay in the lines (but you can often see that she's made an effort to draw different bits of a picture in different colours, so she's starting to get the idea). She can count to ten but certainly can't name all the alphabet letters yet! Her language skills are still a bit behind though although she is improving.

Currently she's home having been sent home poorly from nursery. We've all come down with a really crap virus. Sad

polkadotdelight · 19/01/2017 17:58

I forgot to say Congratulations Nazly, the thought of working, studying and having a toddler is way beyond me!

polkadotdelight · 20/01/2017 19:33

I've just posted a thread about DSs behaviour in parenting, do you mind having a read and advising me please?

I'm going to look a bit stupid now but if I copy and paste the link will that link then log you all in as me?

KitKat1985 · 20/01/2017 20:48

Hi. I've replied Polka. Oddly I also posted in parenting earlier if anyone fancies giving advice in a toddler who is going to make herself bald at this rest. Hmm

KitKat1985 · 20/01/2017 20:49

^ rate not rest!

FATEdestiny · 20/01/2017 21:22

I just answered both threads. Not sure how useful, but at least it bumps your threads.

Your with DDs hair is quite worrying KitKat. Can you not even get a bit of her hair into a bobble so she doesn't twist it? I can't really think of anything aside from waiting until you can get her hair up and then always having it tied back.

polka - it must be really hard for you and your mum, because of needing to find a consistent approach to managing challenging behaviour.

FATEdestiny · 20/01/2017 21:37

It took me a while to find it, but I knew I took a photo of the first pint tail I did in DDs hair. This was taken March 2016, so she was about 18 months old at the time.

FATEdestiny · 20/01/2017 21:38

Ponytail*

polkadotdelight · 20/01/2017 21:56

Thank you both!

KitKat I'm stumped with your DD and her hair. I can't get DS to keep a hat on and he just started screaming blue murder at fingernail and toenail cutting (ashamed to say I've done it by torchlight when he is asleep) so I'm no help.

cookielove · 21/01/2017 11:18

Hi all :)

First ds was poorly and now I am! We are at soft play and dh is running around after the little monster.

Ooh can you link to your other threads? Please? 😀

Fine motor: at nursery ds feeds himself wit a spoon or fork with no issues at home he barely eat's Angry so I know he is fully capable. He is great at threading and holds a pen or chalk with a pincer grasp! He is into lines and circles and triangle's. He also loves using mini stamps we got him. He needs to use a pincer grasp with these as they would slip out of a fist.

He can do loads of stuff at nursery that he chooses not do at home and visa versa. He is very good at "football" but I don't think he has even kicked a ball there.

His language is still slowly improving :)

Thank you for your replies ladies. Fate is that ponytail done with a loom band?

Cookie I hope you feel better soon. Links to the threads in parenting are:

On the positive side there's definitely improvement in language here. Still mainly single words but she's naming lots of things now, so I'm hoping we're getting there.

FATEdestiny · 21/01/2017 15:44

Yep. Well, I bought them as hair bobbles but they are exactly the same product as loom bands, just repackaged. Currently working my way through a pack of these.

FATEdestiny · 21/01/2017 15:48

Oh, and I just snap the band and throw away at the end of each day, rather than unwinding the hair out of the bobble. They snap easily, then the hair doesn't get tangled around the elastic when pulling them out that way.

FATEdestiny · 21/01/2017 15:54

Her hair is longer now, but still fine and difficult to control. Bed head hair and pigtails attached

Oh FATE she is so cute. DS had a haircut today, bribed with the promise of a toy car afterwards - in fairness to the lady it wasn't her easiest cut of the day but the front of his hair looks like Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber. It will grow.....

KitKat1985 · 23/01/2017 13:52

Thanks for the advice Fate. I've ordered some loom bands on Amazon, so going to give it a go! Smile

Ahh, was it DS's first haircut Polka?

Any progress on the nursery front Nazly?

polkadotdelight · 23/01/2017 20:44

He had his haircut in the summer but we hadn't managed to get back to her again - she doesn't have appointments and only works a half day on Saturday. We always seem to be busy so I've been attempting to cit it at home, I don't do too bad a job!

KitKat1985 · 24/01/2017 13:08

Ahh yes all of DD's haircuts so far have been home cuts. Unfortunately I don't do a very good job of it.

In other questions, is there a two and a half year sleep regression?!? DD's sleep has been crap the past few nights. She doesn't seem upset - just randomly spends half of the night singing.... I'm hoping it might be related to her current cold and will settle down quickly. Hopefully!

Also DD decided to shit in the bath this morning whilst I was trying to get her ready for nursery. Envy

cookielove · 24/01/2017 16:29

Omg kitkat that is hilarous although probably not for you Grin

Ds has been going through a bit of a sleep issue but we put it down to the fact that he learnt to climb out of his cot (so he went into a bed) and obviously can now get out whenever he wants :( also his eating was really bad so he was waking up hungry! We have seen some improvement recently!

We have never attempted to cut Ds hair and we will not ever try!

CumbrianExile · 24/01/2017 16:54

Oh no KitKat the bath incident doesn't sound fun!

All A haircuts have been home cuts, we just use DH's trimmers. A hates it, and not sure he would be any better at a hair dressers so this is the best way for now.

We are definitely having sleep regression/sleeping issues. We still haven't solved the not wanting to go into his own room to sleep. Although (touches wood) he is staying there once he is asleep. I have never felt so tired, not even when he was new born. DH read somewhere that at this age he is protecting his food supply and not wanting a sibling to come and steal what he has. i think this is right at the moment Grin

KitKat1985 · 31/01/2017 18:43

Poor DD has a raging ear infection. Sad I hate this time of year. Always loads of bugs / viruses around.

How are all your DCs?

polkadotdelight · 31/01/2017 19:33

Oh no kitkat, hope she is ok. No illness here at the moment just a toddler who thinks he is a teenager with his stroppy attitude!

FATEdestiny · 31/01/2017 20:49

Oh no, hope she's feeling better soon. My DD is being a bit of a... urm... let's say madam. I find myself negotiating with a 2 year old in order to get her into her PJs /get dressed / get into car seat... and so on.

DH and I flight for 5 nights of Winter sun on Sunday. With no children ShockShockShock

I cannot wait! It's my 40th birthday present, first time we've been abroad since our honeymoon 13 years ago, and the first child-free break in that time too. I'm soooooo excited. Will miss the kids. Will value some quality couple time more though. We're thinking of it as a second honeymoon my mum watch you don't come home pregnant Grin
