contraception???? the health visitor handed me a leaflet on it today and i laughed in her face! i had STITCHES down there ffs! there is no way dh is coming near me for a good long while. but....when he finally does we'll probably use good ole fashioned rubbers though!

nighttimes are becoming a bit of a problem...Zac feeds every 2 hrs (which is pretty normal for bf i think) but he doesn't seem to like his bed at all, and cries every time we put him down. he sleeps fine in the day on the cushion/baby gym, or if someone's cuddling him, but as soon as we put him down in the crib he wakes up, even if he was sound asleep before. it's making me dread the night!

DH was supposed to go back to work today but when he went out the car in the morning he found that someone had put our back windcsreen through, so he had to take another day's holiday to get it sorted. which is just what we needed.....

what a whingy post...sorry....nice to see more people on here! congrats to everyone, sorry can't do personals, head is so fuzzy!

ooh.....the positive news is that Zac's put on 1lb in 12 days!

Urban - we are having the same problem with Jacob. He is fine during the day, falls asleep on his bottle and then sleeps quite heavily in his moses basket between feeds but come night time, he takes his feeds and then just WILL NOT settle in his moses basket, wants to be cuddled. It is making me dread the nights too...

LadyTophamHatt · 18/01/2007 08:45

George(just have to type DS4 to test it out) is 2 whole days old already!
It feel like he's been here weeks, bless him. He looks just like Ds1 did as a newborn.

Feeding going well, I'm going to have to increase his bottles to 3oz today as he seems to want more during the night. Hopefully I can get a routine going early on but I'm quite prepared for a "sleep all day, party all night" baby too as Ds3 was one of those.

Mw came yesteray, had a 2 second peek at George (Ds4 ), asked me how I was, how my fanjo was, wrote about 2 sentences on my notes and said "Ok, I;ll give you call tomorrow and I'll be back on Sunday" How FAB is that???

Going to go and buy a new carseat today. My cousin gave us theres but it's a real tight squeeze getting it in the car and getting 4 kids in the cars in the morning when I start school runs again need to be aeasy task. Ds1+2 do their own up but I'll stilll need to nag them.....

Ohhh better go the littilest Sir tophamhatt wants some brekkie

Laters girls....

Oh, wilkie...IME and IMO SMA gold is notorious for constipation. I changed to farleys with DS3 and the differnece was amazing. George is on farleys too.....

Byyeeeeeeeeeee

Hello all

I've only just found this thread lol. Ethan is 7 days old today and doing really well. He's such a contented baby, just like his brother and sister were. We're breastfeeding on demand and it's going great, so much easier than bottles and as we're also co-sleeping it's even easier It's lovely having him in with us at night and we did the same with the other two.

He's sleeping lots and feeding lots and is just so gorgeous

Not looking forward to the midwife appt today; she's doing his heel prick test I hate them having to have that done.

I'm feeling really great and not overly tired even though he's up a lot in the night.

Saw someone mentioned contraception, dh is booked in for a vasectomy on the 7th Feb Starting to think about sex too , is anyone else yet?

theUrbanDryad · 18/01/2007 10:00

not a chance love!! did have a very explicit dream last night though thought i was done with them - used to get them all the time when pg! still, it's a good sign - if i'm dreaming i'm at least getting some sleep eh??

LadyTophamHatt · 18/01/2007 10:20

Sex...???

You must be having a laugh!!!

I finally got a chance to read my notes earlier, I thought I just had a graze down there but according to my notes I have a graze and a 2nd degree tear.
I had a 2nd degree tear with DS1 and I had stitches!!

Bloody hell! my fandango must be a right mess if I've got the same thing now and don't need stitches!!!

Nemo2007 · 18/01/2007 10:24

Jodie I am the other one thinking about sex but then I have never had to have stitches so assume would be a different story then..lol However we need to sort something out as I have a 3yr old, 12mth old and 13day old so dont want to be back in labour next year..or even this year!!!!! Dh is also gagging for it but we really dont know what to do!

coffeebeanz · 18/01/2007 11:50

I'm another one who really needs to think about contraception soon. DH has in theory agreed to having the snip but he is just such a wimp I know he'll put it off ! I would like to know what people think of the coil good or bad.

Have actually done it once since Will was born ( 4 weeks tomorrow) I think its best to get it over with (and yes copious amounts of alcohol were needed as well as chocolate), but tbh although it was crap its a hurdle I've got over, next time can only get better.

BF going well now, put on 280g (1 lb ?) since last week, amazing to see how my milk has made him grow so much. Getting plenty of sleep even though he's still feeding every couple of hours as doing a bit of cosleeping when he cant settle back down into his basket. Isnt it funny that they settle well during the day but nighttime is a different story ?

Pram is finally coming tomorrow yeah .. cant wait to get out and about a bit more, managing with just a sling is a bit much. Just hope the weather improves, we've had snow, wind, rain the lot ....

Dragonhart · 18/01/2007 12:26

Ruth is so sleepy. Anyone else having to wake up their lo to feed. When I wake her up she is starving but if I leave her she goes for 4-5 hours then when it comes to bed time, feeds like carzy for up to 4 hours. Some midwifes have said I should be waking her every three hours, others that I should just feed on demand and if she is sleeping, she needs it.

Didnt have this problem with DS as he woke every three hours like clockwork almost straight away.

ellieandhattie · 18/01/2007 12:58

dh, hattie is really sleepy too but as i'm bottle feedingn i just pop a bottle in every 4hrs and she takes it, trying to enjoy the quiet times whilst i can.

havent thought about contraception took me a few months last time to feel ready to dothe deed and because this time my scar has opened slightly midwife advised not to till completley healed, didnt want to go back on the pill but probably will for a while and then try and get dh to have the snip

OonaghBhuna · 18/01/2007 13:08

I cant even contemplate sex :0 still have a urine and womb infection. it was a few months last time, i dont feel very sexy yet but ho[pefully will soon. Dont want to go on the pill and am also thinking of the coil I have heard good reports from friends. We do need to think of contraception as DD" was a lovely surprise to us

BF babies will be more alert at night due to the hormone in the milk that is very presnt in the milk at night I thnk its called prolactin or something like that. I am feeding every 2-3 hours and I think my body has adjusted to the sleep deprivation as I am waking up when she needs fed.Apart from that she is a little pet sleeping in between feeds and she has settled a bit at night. Like all babies she loves being cuddled.I love it too

JodieG1 · 18/01/2007 13:59

Glad I'm not the only one thinking about sex! I didn't have any stiches either so I also assume that's why.

My dh was the one that wanted the snip and I'm pleased too as I'm not going back on the pill anymore. Apart from conceiving dd whilst taking it I get quite moody as well.

Had the heel prick test done earlier and Ethan didn't even cry, I couldn't believe it! He's just gone to sleep now after being awake for 3 hours, it was lovely to have him awake for a change

I'm looking forward to getting out a bit more next week, hoping for better weather too. Have to get back to taking dd to school next week when dh goes back to work, still trying to work out the best way to get dd (4) to school as well as taking ds1 (just 3) and ds2 (7 days). It's quite a walk and don't really fancy it in the rain and wind.

theUrbanDryad · 18/01/2007 17:23

hi everyone!

well dh went back to work today but me and zac have coped very well. my mum came over in the afternoon and helped with some housework - she brought lunch with her too! he's still feeding like a dream, and last night we put him on his day bed/cushion thing to sleep and he slept much better. think he feels a bit lost in the crib!

the other bit of good news is that dh has got a job interview on tuesday evening! it's for a motorbike company which would be right up his street! so here's hoping....

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 18/01/2007 17:38

Dreading DH going back to work. He had to take longer off because of the cs but as I cant lift for 6 weeks and DS1 is such a lump, have to have my inlaws staying for a week to lift him .

I have really liked it just the 4 of us and it feels like we have had someone staying most of the time for the last 9 months! But they have been a real help, so cant be to ungrateful.

Glad all wnet well on your first day though Urban. I am dreading mine with two of them. Dont know how all of you with more manage!

wilkie50 · 18/01/2007 18:23

Dragonheart and Urban - Jacob is my only child so I can't imagine how hard it must be with other LOs running round. I am DREADING DH going back to work - even though it isn't for another 8 days.

Keep feeling a bit....not low as such but a little bit panicked....can't put my finger on what about just get a sense of....urgh, so hard to explain it....just a bit odd. Oh I don't know. Prob just hormones.

LadyTophamHatt · 18/01/2007 18:35

OMG....DS4 is only 2 days old and I can't wait for my DH to go back to work!!
I've got another week of him yet!

wilkie50 · 18/01/2007 19:18

Loosh?

looshkin · 18/01/2007 19:41

Hello all, have made the jump to the postanatal thread. William is now 4 days old and doing well (I think) - I had an episiotomy and a tear as he got rather stuck so feeling v delicate down there but did manage the first poo so hooorahhh (sorry if TMI)

Reading through some of your posts in`particular wilkie and UD seems a mirror of our house - fine during the day all happy bf fine (every 2hrs but that seems normal) but then come night time will not settle, had a mamouth 2hr feed last night and then will not settle in his crib in our room so do end up co sleeping - which is lovely but worried how we will get out of this habit. I also feels he maybe comfort sucking on me at times so have used a dummy for the first time tonight but not keen on these either so curses - any suggesitons - i think i wil do a mumsnet search to see if any sage advice from the past.

Agree with LTH it is fantastic not o be pregnant anymore I feel like a new woman.

Loosh

ellieandhattie · 18/01/2007 19:45

my dh goes back on monday and he has had 2 weeks of i go from can't wait for him to go back so I can get into a routine with the girls to not wanting hom to go back as he has been fantastic with Ellie and taking her out most afternoons for an hour so I can have a break. I'll still have to be careful as had the c section but hoping I'll cope got friends/family popping in most days next week.

The good thing about him going back is that he seems to make such a mess when he's home so I have spent more time clearing up than normal and like lth dh he doesnt know how to sort washing or put it in the machine and he seems to think washing up and ironing do themselves!!!! I have been doing all the night feeds since hattie been born so at least I dont have to adjust to a new sleep pattern just hoping Ellies eczema clears a little by monday as she is sooooo irratable (sp) at the moment!

theUrbanDryad · 18/01/2007 19:49

zac's my first one too - apparently you become more chilled the more you have?

the baby cushion thing we have is awesome - because we sleep on a mattress on the floor he is on the same level as us so it's like co-sleeping, but hopefully will be easier to move him to his owm bed. half the time doing night feeds we both nod off though!

OP posts:
wilkie50 · 18/01/2007 19:55

I just find it frustrating that J sleeps in his moses basket FINE during the day but then at night it's as though someone flicks a switch and he just won't settle unless he is on mine or DH's chest. I really don't want to get into the habit of co sleeping as I sleep so much better when he is in the moses basket and I'm in bed!!!!

Loosh - I have had 3 stitches (Jacob is 6 days old) and have found now that I am very itchy down below. MW said it is because the skin is starting to knit together and has suggested that I try sleeping on a towel without knickers and a pad to let the air get to the wound to heal it. I'm going to try this tonight cos it is bloody uncomfy!!

Nemo2007 · 18/01/2007 20:11

To all wiht none sleeping of a night babies..Chloe is the same but then both ds and dd were like that aswell. I have always semi co slept[more so due to dropping off while feeding in night] and have never had a problem with moving them into their own room and bed. Ds and dd are both great sleepers now[apart from ds being an early bird..lol]

el123456 · 18/01/2007 20:16

Cant read this im to jealous!Just wanted to say congrats to all you lucky ones!!!

JodieG1 · 18/01/2007 20:42

Loosh I wouldn't worry about the co-sleeping. If that's what suits you both then go with it. People always say that you won't get them out of your bed etc but that's just rubbish to be honest. We co-slept with our daughter and first son and now Ethan and never had any problems with them sleeping in their own beds when the time came.

Tillypup · 18/01/2007 20:45

Sooo glad to read about everyone else's night time habits! I was begining to think it was just us. Issy, sleeps and feeds really well during the day but really doesn't seem to settle at night, except when she's on DP's chest, not good for him!
