Hi everyone iv finally found you all, im having the same thing a sleepy baby all day and awake all night, I feel rather upset at the minute and keep crying is anyone else the same or is it just me being a silly sod ? I am finding it difficult with my ds as he is 2.6 and feels rather pushed out he keeps asking everyone for a cuddle except me I am trying to still play with him when baby is asleep but its so hard to split your time between them im really sorry to moan on its just I feel I need to let it out and I realise you are all in the same situation as me I just hope I can get through it, it dosent help that my dh has just started a new job and needs his sleep for all the training he has to do so I feel like im upsetting ds and dh even though my dh says im being daft and im the best mummy in the world.

Dragonhart · 23/01/2007 14:58

I have found it really hard with my DS1 too Luaghalot. When he came into hospital to see me after 2 days (most I had not seen him ever and I really missed him) and he didnt even smile when he saw me! Just stared at me. Then when his nans came to see me later and he was still there, there were squeels of delight and 'nana, nana!'. Really upset me. Now at home he is the same with me and keeps going up to everyone else for big hugs. Have been trying to give him attention when I am feeding Ruth but as you say, it is really hard to give them both attention at the same time!! Actually today the HV came to see me and he was really clingy to me so maybe it is getting better .

As for the crying, I have definatly been doing it too, not as bad as last time but very teary especially at night in the wee hours after feeding for hours. Hope you are feeling brighter soon and that your DH's job is going well. xxx

JodieG1 · 23/01/2007 16:02

Last night wasn't too bad here. Ethan fed on and off until 11pm with sleeping in between and then fed, was changed, winded until about 2am and then we went to sleep. He stays with me all night and we go upstairs to bed together after a late feed. He slept with me until 6am and then fed for a while. Think he went back off to sleep around 7am and then slept until about 10 which was nice. I was able to stay in bed with him because dh did the school run.

We then went to the maternity hospital to take in some chocs and cards for the midwife and took ds1 to a soft play place nearby. Fed Ethan twice whilst we were there and then came home. My parents picked up dd from school and are giving her dinner there.

Apart from being tired, which is probably the low iron levels I have as well, I'm finding it pretty easy so far. I was doing a lot of washing anyway so haven't had loads more to do and the lack of bottles to prepare and sterilse makes it so much easier. Dd1 was bottle fed and I'd never do that again, she was born prem and started on formula beign tube fed so we decided to keep her on it rather than switch. It created so much more work and I remember feeling much more tired having to get up at night to heat bottles etc. Loving co-sleeping again too, it's so nice and cosy feeding Ethan and then snuggling in bed with him back to sleep

Yay! Its official - I can join this thread properly...well, I will be able to when I can sit down properly again. Baby Dylan Jack Peter Thompson arrived on Saturday night (eventually) at 8.5lbs, I am not sure I will ever walk again. Hope everyone is well. xxx

JodieG1 · 23/01/2007 19:11

Congratulations Liz! Glad to see you here

LadyTophamHatt · 23/01/2007 19:32

Lizzz, I've been thinking baout you, wondering where you are!!

Congratulations

ellieandhattie · 23/01/2007 20:13

ignore my last post about healthy eating am in a foul mood as dh gone to play football so had to do dd1 bedtime wash up and do the ironing so cooked myself 2 burgers and chis for tea and enjoyed every mouthful. He went at 6.30 was going to be an hour and no sign yet it'll be nearer 9 so i am going ot go to bed and leave him a note to do the 10 feed and if dd1 wakes up tonight sratching her eczema i am not going to get up he can go and sort her out!

OonaghBhuna · 23/01/2007 20:47

Well I am dreading tonight, last night I got even less sleep than the night before...2hours last night the night before was 2.5 DD1 is also still unwell and coughing at night so she has been really unsettled, poor thing. DD2 sleeps sp well during the day but at night it just seems to be a nightmare. It is taking ages to get her winded and by the time I get it done its almost time for the next feed.
I think i am on auto pilot as I have no time to rest during the day.
I hope tonight is better, fingers crossed.

theUrbanDryad · 24/01/2007 16:49

hi everyone! well theHV came today and weighed Zac, he now weighs in at a hefty 8lbs3oz!! he's gonna be a porker (just like daddy)

nights are still a bit of a nightmare, he's still feeding about every 2 hours, at least he doesn't need winding too badly) but it takes ages to settle him back to sleep. i ended up with him in bed with us last night but i still didn't get any extra sleep cause i was too worried about rolling over and squishing him! how do other co-sleepers get round this?

had a weird dream about dragonhart, of all people!! dreamt i had to go pick up your son from nursery, and you said i'd know him by his flourescent wellies!! don't think you even have a son do you DH?? stupid dream...

Hi all

Firstly congrats Liz - will email you later.

Sorry I have been quiet for a few days, have had the most horrible experience of my life for the past 48 hours. Woke up on Mon early morning to find Jacob boiling hot, stripped him off to cool down but he didn't. Took his temp and it was 38.4 (should be anywhere between 36.5-37.5). Took him to drs to told us we had to admit him to hospital as newborns shouldn't get temperatures. Flew up to the hosp where they immediately started doing test on him; lumbar puncture, bloods, heartrate monitoring etc etc. They were lovely but told us they have to treat every newborn with a high temp very seriously i.e. in case of meningitis etc etc. To cut a long story short, they kept him (and us) in for 48 hours whilst they observed him and gave him IV antibiotics and waited for the test results.

Anyway, it ended up being a viral infection rather than bacterial but it was the worst worst experience of my life. Feel really weepy even though he is OK. We got home today about 4pm. Feel emotionally drained. Didn't expect this in the first 12 days of having my little one.

Sorry but really needed to get it out of my head and onto here.

theUrbanDryad · 24/01/2007 18:15

oh wilkie how horrid for you i can't even begin to imagine how awful that must be. so glad your wee man is better now though, at least he won't remember it. i always think things like this are so much harder for parents than for the babies!!

OP posts:
wilkie50 · 24/01/2007 18:19

UD - I would have done anything for it to be me not him. I just keep replaying it in my head. The hospital were amazing though and took such good care of us. I'm so tired now and he's really unsettled cos the antibiotics have upset his tum so I know it won't be a good night. Guess we're back to square one with feeding.

2Happy · 24/01/2007 18:34

(Still lurking, sorry)
F*ck, Wilkie, that's terrible! So glad it's turned out ok, but what a horrific experience for you No wonder you feel drained. Hope tonight is better than you expect x

Dragonhart · 24/01/2007 18:59

Gosh that sounds horrible for you all wilkie. Makes me sick when DS1 has a little cold so must have been terrible to have him in hospital so poorly. Hope all goes well from here. xxx

Congratulations Lizz. xxx

Urban, I do have a son, but he has blue wellies! How strange that you would dream about me when we have never met! What did I look like? (sorry, dreams fascinate me!)

theUrbanDryad · 24/01/2007 19:29

not sure - kind of medium height, shoulder length dark brown hair.....it's difficult to remember. you had a clear, plastic mac on. so odd.....

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 24/01/2007 19:44

Sorry Urban, just replied to your thread on expressing and realised I put Zac's name on it. Not sure how you feel about your DS's name being on the thread but Im really sorry.

theUrbanDryad · 24/01/2007 21:43

yeah i noticed, it's ok though. it's not his full name!

so - was i close with my description?

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 24/01/2007 22:00

Yes with the hair, not really with the height (I am 6ft) and again no with the mac!

Again, sorry about the name, just forget sometimes that I am not having a conversation with people, and that anyone can 'listen in'. Also so used to talking on this thread. Sad, I know. DH calls me a geek for talking to people so much on the net.

theUrbanDryad · 24/01/2007 22:10

my dh and i sort of met online so he can't really complain!! think he is a bit mystified by MN though!!

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 24/01/2007 22:15

That sounds like an interesting story Urban. I met my DH at uni- v boring! We met on one of many drunken nights out.

My mum and dad met when they were both camping with friends and it started to really p*ss it down and they both took shelter in a near by barn. Very romantic!

theUrbanDryad · 24/01/2007 23:03

heh - my parents met on a cross channel ferry!!

LadyTophamHatt · 25/01/2007 07:32

OMG wilkie, I read your post yesterday but was feeding Ds4 so could post.

How awful

I can't imagine how scared you were, poor little man

I hope you had a reasonable night, I was thinking about you at 1:30am hoping you were both ok.

wilkie50 · 25/01/2007 09:12

LTH - thanks, he was surprisingly good last night, feeding at 12, 3 and 5 so not too bad at all. His rash is fading and he seems quite content so fingers crossed he is better soon. Hope you are doing ok and DS4 is settling into the Tophamhatt clan well.

xxxx

RGee · 25/01/2007 09:16

LadyTophamHatt · 25/01/2007 09:26

(deeerrrr I meant I couldn't post coz i was feeding him)

I feel like George has been here for weeks rather than just 9 days(in a lovely contented way iyswim) he has settled in well, we've all settled in well really. s'pose its a case of having too really

I survived the first school run this morning as dh has gone back to work. We got there in plenty of time even with ds3 being sick 10 minutes before we hadto leave.

I even managed to plug myself into the brest pump for 25 minutes, get in the shower and put on some make-up, all before 8am!!!!
