Thank you faux & mrsells, im quite confident bfing going well so far so had thought the earlier a bottle was introduced the better to avoid him rejecting it completely but just never know what to do for the best. A friend bought me some breast cups to try putting in my bra and they are supposed to collect milk when feeding from the other breast when feeding from one?! May try this so I'm not expressing and interfering with my supply?! Has anyone got experience of these?!

Ffaux Seren is a beautiful name and even more so with the meaning having such a connection to your DH, she is gorgeous!!

IndomitabIe · 19/03/2016 11:32

Thanks for the other cough-positive stories! It's really reassuring!

ffaux, I liked your original name but I have to confess I love Seren more! I knew the astronomical connection too, and that your DH is an astronomer makes it even cooler! (Is it strictly a "girls" name? Or could we pinch it?! Not that we're in any way Welsh, unfortunately. I also loved Astrid.)

BeautifulLiar · 19/03/2016 11:37

Congratulations to Q and Suz! Grin

Indom that sounds horrible. I had the same kind of thing a few weeks before I was due and it made me so nervous. I really hurt my ribs too! Pleeeeaase rest now, this is a mum of four ordering you to do so Wink

IndomitabIe · 19/03/2016 11:53

Thanks Beaut! Currently sitting at a party at soft play. Trying to get everything done today so I can fully veg out tomorrow.

Cough seems better in the daytime. It's night & first thing that it's impossible to breathe/move.

Trinpy · 19/03/2016 12:01

Congratulations to Q and Charley.

Lovely photos ffaux. Glad you've been able to settle on a name. I like both names equally (they would work well together on siblings Wink) but Seren has a nice link to your dh.

Poppins I introduced a bottle as soon as I felt that we'd cracked bf (at 3 weeks) and didn't have any issues introducing a bottle or swapping between the 2. I know other bfing mums who have waited until 6 weeks and had bottle-refusers, so I personally would choose to introduce whenever you feel you've got the bfing going well rather than after a certain number of weeks.

I'm back to the contractions again and they are so bloody painful! Like veey bad period pain every 10mins(ish) but still not regular enough for me to feel like this is it. Just want this baby out now.

Trinpy · 19/03/2016 12:02

Indom that sounds crap. How long have you had it for?

Woodenmouse · 19/03/2016 12:39

ffaux I love the name Seren I've only ever heard it once before.

docmcstuffins1 · 19/03/2016 14:35

Hello all. Sorry I've been AWOL since Thursday but have had quite a time. Will catch up will all the posts later but just wanted to introduce baby Oliver John, born yesterday morning weighing 7lb 3oz. Induction turned out to be quite a chore, as my cervix was very scarred from surgery I had aged 21, which meant I was struggling to dilate and it was very painful! However managed to get to 10cm with gas and air, but baby was stuck in an OT or sideways facing position so wasn't descending so ended up with spinal, episiotomy and forceps in theatre. We are still in hospital as I need to have a catheter in for 48 hrs Sad and Oliver is on antibiotics for a suspected infection (he's fine apart from a high breathing rate). Looking forward to getting home in a few days though!

Congrats Q charley and marmite, welcome to your gorgeous lens arrivals !!

Will catch up properly with the posts but thought I better check in before you thought I'd gone awol in some really long labour!

After announcing I was bored at 3pm yesterday they popped my next pessary in at 7.30, and suggested sending DH home as nothing was going to be going on until the following morning.. Well at 8:30 the bump emitted a strange popping sound and suddenly contractions ramped up a bit.. Waters went about 10pm and I begged for drugs about 1am having just had some paracetamol.. Was told there was no other drugs I could have as I wasn't going to have dilated enough for the delivery ward..'Even though I want to push?!' I asked? She looked a bit panicked when she found I was fully dilated and off we went to delivery suite. Had an epidural to bring blood pressure down which I could walk and move around with but took away the horrors of the last few hours. Unfortunately despite a lot of pushing she never got into a place where they thought she could get out so had a not quite emergency c section this morning..

Anyway meet Mini Vroc, 7lb 14oz!

vroc81 · 19/03/2016 14:55

And cross post - congratulations Doc too!

MrsElls · 19/03/2016 15:39

Congratulations doc and vroc, two beauties there and sounds like you both coped amazingly with tricky births. Hope you both manage to get home fairly quickly.

RhubarbAndMustard · 19/03/2016 16:24

Wow, Congrats vroc and doc. What beautiful babies. They really are coming thick and fast now Grin.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 19/03/2016 16:32

Congrats vroc and doc! Hope recovery is going well.

My boobs are so bloody sore now! Milk has started to come in I think and they are massive. Latch isn't too bad b

marmiteandcheeseplease · 19/03/2016 16:35

Ugh pressed send too soon! Latch doesn't seem too bad but think I've just damaged the nipple not latching her on properly at night. Putting on all the nipple cream under the sun! Not looking forward to this evening's boob fest Confused

Got our first visitors round tomorrow, may try to actually get dressed as practice for having to leave the house on Monday for E's first hospital appointment, have to go in for 5 day weigh in. Hoping she won't have lost too much birth weight Confused

IndomitabIe · 19/03/2016 16:48

Congratulations doc & vroc! Sorry both births weren't what you'd planned, but beautiful babies both!

Have we reached Peak Baby yet?!

Trin, had this since last Thursday, I think. It's been ok during the day. It's overnight & first thing that are hideous.

Sympathies for the sore boobs, marmite. And good luck for the visitors.

MyNameIsSuz · 19/03/2016 16:51

Congratulations vroc and doc! Sounds like you both had a pretty dramatic time of it, hope you're recovering well.

I'm feeling exactly the same marmite, desperately trying to build good feeding habits but undoing it all at night in desperation. Had a midwife visit today, she helped a bit so hopefully if I can stick out this tricky bit it'll all get easier once my milk comes in.

hayleycookie · 19/03/2016 17:22

Ah congratulations to all the new mummy's!!!! You're all making me so jealous, but so happy the babies are arriving thick and fast and all so lovely and healthy!
I'm 9 days over now....

Purpleprickles · 19/03/2016 17:35

Congrats to all the new arrivals. Such beautiful newborns on this thread! Good luck with breast feeding too, I can't offer any advice as we didn't crack it this time. Only sympathy for sore cracked nipples.

We have my parents to stay as DH goes back to work Monday, it's lovely to have some extra hands. DH also has an awful cough now so despite him wanting a just the four of us weekend originally I think he is pleased they arrived early as it takes the pressure off him.

I'm feeling very bruised and achey down below Blush I felt better earlier in the week so I think I might have overdone it too soon? I'm having to walk slower and rest more. How is anyone else recovering? I expected on day 9 to feel better not worse. Hoping it is just a result of doing too much.

Just thought I'd post a pic of Evie too as I haven't so far. Smile

MrsBenWyatt · 19/03/2016 17:53

Evie is beautiful, Purple.

Congratulations Doc and Vroc.

All very settled here. Feeding still going well but I have nothing but sympathy for all the sore nipples - had exactly the same with DD.

Ted seems to be a very chilled-out baby so far. Sleeps well in the co-sleeper (when I can stay awake to put him back Grin). DD and DS1 are still totally in love with him.

DH is back to work on Wednesday (Ted will be three weeks old) so it'll be interesting to try and get all three out of the house to walk DD to school!

QforCucumber · 19/03/2016 18:01

Baby Q is officially now Rory William and is the laziest baby ever.

charley I've only managed to get him latched onto one side too, he's just so lazy - has had to be woken for feeds since Birth and will latch, suck twice and then let go again. Nuisance already.

Hope that cough does ease up for you indom sounds awful.

doc that's exactly what happened here, once dilated baby was facing the wrong way and nothing I could have done would habe turned him. Spinal and forceps here too, however they removed my catheter this morning and BP etc seems to be back to normal. Hope you feel better soon.

vroc these inductions have all been so eventful haven't they! Glad yours went as well as it could for you really.

Fingers crossed for you soon hayley there must be something going on in there!

BeautifulLiar · 19/03/2016 18:06

Congratulations doc and vroc! Sounds traumatic but you did it :)

Purple the same thing happened to me. Gradually felt more bruised and achey... and I have been going out a lot! I still feel it a bit now (day 16). We should probably rest I walked to the shop earlier

MrsBen my DH is back on Monday and I've got to get to school too. Got so many things on next week as well... and I'll have to take all four children to parent's evening! Shit..

BeautifulLiar · 19/03/2016 18:08

Q I just knew you were having a boy!! Love the name Rory Smile he might just be sleeping off the birth? Nancy slept all night when we first brought her home.

Crispylicious · 19/03/2016 18:21

Congrats doc, vroc, charley and q!! So many gorgeous babies arriving. Am LOVING the pics and they are making me extra super broody (good job eh?)

Sorry to hear of sore nips. I remember it all too well. Lots of nip cream helped me.

indom hope you do get a rest day tomorrow. I'm bloody knackered and I'm
Not working or ill!

Did some Easter baking with DD today. She was super cute and really seemed to enjoy it. I do so feel for her and the lack of attention she's going to get shortly!

MyNameIsSuz · 19/03/2016 18:44

Here's my girly, snoozing away all day long - think I'm in for a long night!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 19/03/2016 19:05

Loving all the newborn pics! So cute!

suz I'm with you on expecting a long night! Eleanor has been sleeping most of today other than to wake and feed, my boobs have felt progressively more sore and I'm expecting her to start her cluster feeding soon Sad I know things will improve, as they did with DD1 but I was really hoping for less pain this time! I know what I'm doing but baby doesn't! She is very keen on the breast and happy to feed for ages and I can hear her swallowing, so hoping that means things will be ok. DPs mum is a health visitor and is coming tomorrow so will ask her to bring scales to put my mind at rest.

One more day of looking after DD1 before four days of childcare. I feel bad as both me and DP are desperate to get her out of the house, its really tough as we've been getting quite a bit of playing up and tantrums, and we're both tired and a bit irritable but trying to be sympathetic with her as she's clearly overwhelmed, but don't want to let her play up either! Its a bit of a minefield!
