Good luck ffaux you massive queue jumper hope everything goes ok, and quickly.

BeautifulLiar · 14/03/2016 20:10

indom I bought a co sleeper cot too! But she isn't really feeling it. In fact I'm currently using it to store my chocolate and books Blush

IndomitabIe · 14/03/2016 20:12

vroc made me actually LOL!

Crispylicious · 14/03/2016 20:21

sher yay you finally had your baby! He's gorgeous congrats. And congrats to you too wood hope you're enjoying newborn snuggles.

OMG ff! That must be quite a shock but sounds like they're taking good care of you. I'd eat, as they wont let you do so during the induction (I still remember DH and my mum tucking into a costa feast, whilst I was starving and not allowed to eat!) I second Indom's recommendation of an epidural if they use the drip. That's what I did and it was great. Good luck!

indom I can't believe you're still managing to work! You is well ard. I've been struggling with just doing nothing. When are you finishing?

time sorry you are struggling. Do access the help that's there. Fwiw, I remember feeling terrified when DH went back to work and left me with the baby, and it took some time to get my confidence up.

maybe I really hope that the midwives have started to offer you some constructive help. That's such a long time to be in pain and they should offer you some proper pain relief.

Nothing to report here. At my MW appointment last Friday, baby was 1/5 palpable, but as a 2nd baby that doesn't mean much apparently. My pelvis is pretty achey and I feel like I need to wee every 2 seconds! 39 weeks tomoz! Have been enjoying some Vampire Diaries trash TV to pass the time and now thinking of calling the baby Damien Grin

TheMshipIsBack · 14/03/2016 20:24

Good luck, ffaux! I'll be in the feeding club tonight, will check in to keep you and maybe company.

I'm another one here with a barely used co-sleeper cot. At least it was lent us second-hand, so we didn't spend anything on it! I'm finding it very useful as a sort of bed rail / storage area. Tam's basically co-slept since day 1, and it's working fine for us.

dobbythedoggy · 14/03/2016 20:25

Here's my little man at 10 days old; can't believe how big he looks streched out in his carry cot. We've been discharged by the comunity midwife team today. His put on weight from his birth weight; up to 9lbs 2oz despite strugling with the latch for the first few days. His jaundice is vertually gone so I can let him sleep as long as he pleases at night without feeling guilty, but still setting an alarm to take my pain killers.

time I'm so glad you've left a message for your health visitor. I really hope they are kind and able to reassure you and offer the support you deserve. Being responsable for a tiny person who is souly reliant is overwhelming and all you can do is learn on the job. There is always something to worry about!
With regards to feeding it sounds very much like what my little one dose. After most feeds he brings up loads of milk, I think it's called positing as it's just milk not sick, if I'm not quick enough with the muzzy or have him in the wrong position it's easily enough to mean I need to change my top or he needs a complete change. It looks like loads but in reality it must be tiny amounts. Clearly his keeping most of it down as his putting on weight beautifully. Dd was a big baby and lost loads of her birth weight, right on the 10% mark, and it was a struggle to get her to put it back on, so I know how hard it is not to stress about feeds. It must be hard when she's so tiny already, mine both had it to loose!
Please don't rush back to work without getting some help for the anxisity you're currently feeling. I was really keen to head back to work after dd was born in the early weeks but ended up becoming a sahm after a year of leave, when I only planned to take 6 months. Rather than swapping with dh right now, could you try using some of your keeping in touch days to see if it's the right thing for you. If you do want to go back there's nothing wrong with that, but you sounded so confident before it just feels like you've had your confidence knocked and I don't think it would take much to help you get back to that.
I hope the spray and asporator help, used them loads with dd and have it on stand by as it clears little noses so well even if they don't have a cold.
Sending you big hugs and a hand to hold.

ffaux good luck, I hope you manage to eat something. But if you don't try not to worry about it, I felt so rotten with my cold I hardly ate anything in the four days before I went into labour and just drank my way through labour itself. The sports drinks kept me going if you're allowed to drink. Can you ask to be monitored? My friend in the US said continuious monitoring is much more common but it could be the hospitals she's come across. Although it wasn't the most comfortable of things to have on, the wireless monitoring I had was really reasuring and let me focus on getting through each contraction, rather than worry about if baby was moving or becoming distressed or timing contractions.

dobbythedoggy · 14/03/2016 20:43

time also please try not to feel bad about the hospital appoitment. I always find things like that mean you're going to be struggling to get out the door no matter how much you prepare. You aren't going to be the first parent to miss an appointment and you won't be the last! Dd need loads in her first few years and I always insisted dh book the morning or afternoon off work to make sure I had a hand to get out and someone to hold the bag etc. We've missed and been unforgivably late for appointments when there was two of us and we were determined to leave early!

beaut I coslept with dd from 6 months as we all needed some sleep, sleep regression sucks. Ds seems to like his basket, although dh was kicked out of bed our second night home as he would only settle next to me. But touch wood his good at sleeping since then. We may end up co sleeping again when he gets bigger, but having a tiny baby in with me is so scary to me!

Trinpy · 14/03/2016 20:45

I bought a co sleeper cot to avoid the middle-of-the-night panic you get with co-sleeping when you wake up and can't remember where you left the baby Blush, so I'll be a bit disappointed if the baby doesn't use it. It would be a useful to have a place to store drinks and snacks to keep me going through night feeds though, so I might steal that idea!

marmite I was googling something cervix related the other week and read a thread on a US baby forum where soneone was saying she had a VE and was told her cervix was still very posterior so it was unlikely she would be giving birth anytime soon - she ended up going into labour later the same day Hmm. Its not really a reliable indicator of when you'll go into labour because it can all change very fast or it can stay the same for weeks.

Indom I'm due the day after you so, rightfully, as soon as you have your baby I should be next on the list. Its only fair. Slightly jealous of your queue-jumping colleague's daughter though Envy.

Trinpy · 14/03/2016 20:54

X-posted dobby. He looks like he's grown so much already but it probably is partly to do with how he's stretched out. Glad his jaundice is almost gone.

nixxxy · 14/03/2016 20:58

More babies! Every time I check in I always end up with the biggest grin on my face. Congrats Sher and Wooden!! What a couple of heartbreakers :)

ffaux Good Luck! If I'm in the CSC tonight I'll be glued to the thread

IndomitabIe · 14/03/2016 21:24

crispy, I was hoping to make it to the end of term next Thursday (due weds). I felt so good for most of the pregnancy, and of course it would be impossible to recruit a good cover teacher to start part way through a term, so the kids would end up with a cover supervisor (who are good, but not the same as a subject specialist). Ach, it seemed like a good idea at the time! I think I'd be ok without this cold sucking the life out of me!

Poppins27 · 14/03/2016 21:54

Indom wow at working so late in pregnancy, you totally deserve to be sickness free, hope your feeling better soon!!

Time I echo what others have said, sorry your feeling slightly defeated at present, brilliant news your going to speak to the health visitors though. My Dd was really sicky too, didn't have acid reflux but would cover anyone/anything not just after feeds but all the time...I daren't hand her to anyone without a muslin, bib, and it looked as though her full feed was coming back up. She put on weight gradually but was prescribed Infant Gaviscon which made a bit if difference, although didn't stop it completely. She also really struggled to take a bottle even with the slowest teats until we were recommended Breastflow bottles from amazon. These were great as the flow was the same as if bfing, the baby has to work for the milk instead of it free flowing.

Good luck Faux!!

magpiedreams · 14/03/2016 23:23

Oh congrats wooden and sher! Two more lovely babies!

maybe I really hope things are more manageable for you by now, and hopefully these days of pain have got things moving nicely by now, and even if not that you have some decent pain relief. Sounds horrid, stay strong.

ffaux, best of luck! Goes to show how quickly plans can change at this stage in pregnancy! Hope everything goes well, and hope your maternity pay is sorted too. Slightly jealous you're not hanging around until the end of March with me though!

time lots of folk have already posted really good advice to you which I won't repeat, just want to say I hope you're ok and urge you to take all the support you are offered.

Very behind most of you, I have today finally sorted all the baby clothes into drawers and washed / ironed the sheets and blankets etc. Well, my mum did most of it actually. So now actually feeling very excited and hopeful of a baby some time soon - few days would be nice but I feel unlikely...

Hopeful for some efficient and manageable labours tonight, I'll check in during my inevitable wee-wakes-ups for news of ffaux and hopefully others!

ffauxlivia · 15/03/2016 00:44

Hi all, please don't be jealous, I would rather be waiting for her natural arrival than going through this, it's all rather surreal!

I'm at hospital and have had the first pill placed inside me. I have to lay down for a while and be monitored whilst it takes effect. I'm getting lots of braxton hicks so they think my uterus is a little bit irritated and not liking it too much so far!

They try their best to make it relaxing, have a big private room with dim lighting and soft music playing, a tv too

I don't like the monitors though as it makes me obsessed with watching her heartbeat which is quite stressful.

Anyway hi to anyone up late! Hope maybe made some good progress today

TheMshipIsBack · 15/03/2016 01:32

Hi ffaux - all sounds exciting and promising! I like the idea of the nice dim room. Good luck tonight! Soon you'll be joining us in feeding club.

I've just latched Tam on for a feed after DH gave her a change. He brought her back in, proudly announcing her biggest poo yet. It's like he takes personal credit for her output Grin. She had another cluster feeding marathon session in the evening. Oh! I just remembered - my handy diy mum accomplishment of the day: I converted a full cup under wired 38JJ bra to a nursing bra by unpicking the straps and sewing in clips. It works great for feeding and fits like a dream, so much more supportive than a soft cup. I got the clips off eBay for a couple of quid for 4 bras worth if anyone else is considering trying it.

MrsElls · 15/03/2016 02:26

Just checking in during a feed to send contracting vibes to maybe and ffaux. Had 4 hours straight sleep and feel a million times better for it, hopefully a nice long feed now and another 4 hour stretch might follow not sure I will be that lucky

RhubarbAndMustard · 15/03/2016 02:46

Another one here to hand hold ffaux and maybe. Ffaux your private room does sound nice at least.

We've not heard from maybe for a while, have we? Really hope that means things have progressed and midwives are finally taking things seriously.

Mship loving your DH bring so proud of nappy contents! I think the credit should belong to you though.

ffauxlivia · 15/03/2016 03:29

Thank ladies :) happy night feeding!

I popped into maybe's thread earlier and it still sounds like she's having a tough time

I'm 3 hours in and contracting a lot, but apparently that's bad?! I'm contracting too much because uterus is irritated, but I think it was also because I was so nervous as I was shaking uncontrollably when they started! Calmed myself down and they spaced out, trying to ride each wave and feel more in the zone etc now. Though they are not really painful yet so don't know why I got so tense

Anyway I was due the second pill but they are waiting again for them to stabilise or at least get a better pattern. My cervix has gone from 0 to 1cm and is now 50% so something is happening at least

Sorry if this is really boring Smile

Paperblank · 15/03/2016 03:36

ffaux

Good luck! I'very just finished feeding Martha - she's now milk drunk!

Hope all goes well, will check in again in another 3 hours Smile

dobbythedoggy · 15/03/2016 03:54

Night feed here with Eddy who can hardly keep his eyes open but still wants to guzzle his milk.

ffaux are you able to get up and mobile at all? Or change positions on the bed if you're teathered to the monitor? I had the 'irritated' uterus when I went in for monitoring a few day before ds was born. Being up right on the bed, I sat bolt up right with my legs in an open lotus type position and circling hips really helped to smooth things out. Senior midwife was also keen to get me marching around for an hour or so and for me to have tea and toast. When the monitoring went back on smooth waves of pre labour contractions registered which I couldn't feel. I couldn't stop watching the contractions being monitoered during labour, dh watched the heart beat like a hawk.

Will check in another few hours.

maybebabybee · 15/03/2016 04:26

After painful contractions all night I was examined today to be told I am still not dilated. Not only that but cervix is still high, not effaced - me could barely see it. My hind waters have leaked so they are offering me an induction this afternoon. Desperately did not want to be induced but cannot take another day of this - been awake all night due to more useless sodding contractions.

Ffaux, sending you many positive vibes. Fx your baby is here soon!

ffauxlivia · 15/03/2016 05:03

Oh maybe Thanks thinking of you, you poor thing. I hope induction works quickly for you and at least makes you feel like progress is being made.

Midnight here and getting tired. Contractions definitely more painful and in my back, but they don't really know what to with me as another pill may be too much, all depends on next cervix check

dobby thanks for that, I got them to get me a moving monitor and it is so much better being able to move around. No clear pattern yet though

marmiteandcheeseplease · 15/03/2016 05:05

Sorry to hear that maybe - I know you weren't keen on induction but there's only so much you can take. I wanted a woo hippy natural birth with DD but after failure to progress I just wanted her out and accepted the syntocin drip and epidural happily and managed to have an unassisted birth. Fx it goes ok for you.

Am a fully paid up member of CSC tonight, wide awake at half four. Going to attempt to get back to sleep but not very hopeful. So fed up of pregnancy now! 41+0. DTD with DP last night in another vain attempt to get things going after sweep but so far nothing!

TheMshipIsBack · 15/03/2016 05:18

paper love the milk drunk face Smile Tam isn't quite big enough to do it properly yet, can't wait. She's more like dobby's Eddy, eyes tight shut and firmly clamped on.

maybe sorry to hear it's still going slowly. Surely the end is in sight if you'll be induced today! Sending you lots of labour dust and wishes for an easy delivery.

ffaux the moving monitor sounds good, I had wires trailing everywhere with DS and it was really distracting. Good luck today, hope things settle down to steady contractions!

ffauxlivia · 15/03/2016 05:34

Thanks mship. Cervix still 1cm but now 70% effaced and baby's head is lower down. Still just waiting to decide what to do with me. Will def be a long night!

Thank you for letting me be so self indulgent on the thread tonight, writing it all down is a good distraction. X
