Hi All,

Hope you are all having nice weekends. Up at 6am with Lo this morning - still at least she finally eventually slept through the night after 2 weeks YIPPEE, porr Mummy kept waking up though to make sure she was opkay and still breathing so still crap sleep for me! Managed to wash the big liv' room rug and give place a super clean though - we have this stray cat whop we've been looking after for 5 years and he's recently moved in but he pongs! Am concerned about when LO starts to crawl. Need to buy a steam cleaner as they are fab. Don't mind our own cats so much but stray boy - who knows where he's been or what he's got? Poor thing.
My LO is very grouchy today - I am sure she must be starting to teeth.

Emzickle - what kind of problem have you got? Constipation or pain? Did you need stitches? I don't usually take any drugs but had loads during and after birth and ended up with mega constipation - had to get the doc out for suppositories and anaesethic gel! Was crying with pain - at least I eventually got an epideural when I gave birth! Was very strange for me as I have IBS and usually have the opposite problem. Yes - 3 jags for the last lot - have them this Wednesday so let you know how it goes. dreading it.

Martha - when I got mastitis my right boob was bright red underneath and lumpy, I had a fever too and felt generally crap - sore bones, sweaty etc. I applied a warm lavender wheat bag to boob and fed LO with boob hanging down into her mouth, was sore but it got rid of it in 2 days without the need for antibiotics. Do you feel better now that you've stopped bf completely? I must admit I quite like the closeness of it - I don't have as much milk now but LO likes it for comfort.

Rumpel: William has his 4-month jabs on Wednesday - will try giving him some Medised beforehand to see if it stops him yelling the place down like last time.

what a weekend! ended up sitting on sofa desperately pumping to relieve pain and sickness before the pils and sil arrived at 10.30pm on friday.so much better an hour after that that was having a happy time with dh in bed when mil came up to our room to tell us the cat had come home .

lo's big day on saturday. 35 people for her christening and went without a hitch. godmother skidded into church at last possible moment. dh's 93 yr old grannie arrived laden with homemade mince pies, banana bread and marmalade for all of us that she'd made earlier! started feeling sick in the afternoon, thought i had a disgusting hangover til remembered about the milk. much better after pumping and much less milk. just got dh to check status of underside of boobs as i can't see them. no redness tonight and even less milk.nearly there now.

1 yr married today. dh looked horrified when handed him card. no card from him . if no card on the first year when have produced lo what happens later down the line. went for romantic meal to celebrate 1 yr w. anniversary only to find my whole family walk in 15 minutes after and sit down right behind us .not what i had in mind... still, worked out in the end, after we got ourselves moved to the other end.
emzickle-had major difficulty going to the loo for weeks after lo. lots of crying in pain and constipation. finally ok now. really helped eating more roughage than you can imagine including lots of nuts and dried figs which i don't like. and lots of water. takes a few days for soreness to go.
rumpel, no pleasure for lo or me bf now, she chokes and screams and becomes inconsolable. just impossible and distressing for both of us.
big sympathies catgirl. my uncle was a pain up the butt over christening, ended up not turning up. mum rang him and he claimed he'd forgot and was in paris with new girlfriend
sorry for long posting

Hello all, Glad to hear you all had a good time at the meet up, the V&A cafe is great. But good news is I now have a lovely ceiling in my kitchen and new bannisters on the stairs YAY!
I would love to come to the next one, nothing as yet planned in MArch so I think any date would suit me.
We are having Megan christened in April but only making it immediate family only but that still makes 20 of us. Glad to hear yours went well Martha, hope you are having better luck with your brother catgirl.
Megan is blissfully asleep now after waking me at 3 and 5 overnight, don't know what got into her she's been waking 7.15 on the dot for weeks so not liking these rude awakenings! She has been very grumpy last few days think she is teething I can see a white speck on her bottom front gum.
Hope you're all having a good day.

wuzzle - re calpol, use normal calpol(ensure you are using paracetamol syrup 120mg/5ml) but HV gave me a chart of weight:dosage ratio -

7-8ib - 1ml
9-11ib = 1.5ml
12-14ib - 2ml
15-17ib - 2.5ml
Can give every 4 hours, but no more than 4 times within 24 hours

she also gave me a tiny syringe to measure it and administer it - perhaps the pharmacy could give you one of them.
Got 2nd jabs next week.

Catgirl - I am from n wales (wrexham) but live in Cheshire now - too far away for all the lovely meet ups unfortunately.

Going to write letter to local council now as got parking fine yesterday cos my pay+display ticket must have blown over on dashboard whilst sorting my kids out. GRRR

marthahm · 29/01/2007 11:54

taffy my dh grew up in farndon just over the border from wrexham. it's lovely countryside round there. sympathies with you over vile parking wardens

nicand2 · 29/01/2007 11:55

catgirl - thanks for the medised tip, I could do with a drowsy toddler after last night! poor little thing, the worst spots are right up his bum and all over his bits.

youngmum21 · 29/01/2007 12:42

hi everyone hope you all had a nice weekend!!

I finally have my sleepin baby bak!!!
she has started sleeping thru again she goes bed at 7.30 i give her a dream feed at 10 and then she gets up at 7-7.30 have finally caught up on my sleep and feel human again!!!!

wuzzlefraggle · 29/01/2007 13:30

taffy - cheers for the calpol info anna has her 2nd lot of jabs next friday

youngmum - im glad that your sleep is getting bak to normal now. wish ours would sleep through

lol, the little girl that lives next door just knocked on my door with a cuddly toy for the baby asking if she could come and see her again lol, awww shes only 10 bless her

nicand2 · 29/01/2007 14:37

Youngmum - Glad you've caught up on your sleep, there's nothing like a good night.

can I ask how many bottles and how many oz's everyone's lo's are on? T seems really content but I'm struggling to fit 5 bottles per day in as he sleeps really well now.

We are also trying to arrange his christening, i really want to get it booked soon as my mum has shown me the 'family' christening robe and it's 40 years old this year so I'd really like him to wear it before he gets too big!

catgirl · 29/01/2007 14:45

Marthahm - congrats on your anniversary - maybe next year, to avoid disappointment, about a week before you say 'shall we go out for our anniversary darling?' thus reminding him! Luckily both me and my dh are a bit hopeless when it comes to anniversaries. Glad Hope's christening went ok.

Have just postponed Bryn's christening as my Dad has been in hospital over the weekend (he his having another course of chemo and got an infection), so decided to put it off until further notice. So dh is ringing round telling people, sadly I have had to cancel the cake (shame they accepted the cancellation too - would have been nice to still have the cake ), just have to speak to the priest now. my oder brother did eventually ring back to say they couldn't make it, shan't bother to tell them it isn't going ahead! Families!

Taffy - have a friend who lives in Gresford, near Wrexham which is lovely. I am from more Llandudno/Colwyn Bay way - in land from there.

youngmum21 - glad your lo is behaving herself again!

ds2 now grizzling on the front room floor - was hoping to veg out in front of a video this afternoon....

Did get his passport photos done today - local snappysnaps are very good, they lie babies down on a white seat and take photo from above - fun was had trying to get him to look straight up as apparently you need both ears to be seen in the photo! But we got there!

pmoore · 29/01/2007 17:19

LO drinks 7oz five bottles a day- she has been doing that since 2.5 months
7-8am, 11-11.30am/2-3pm/5-6pm & then bath at 7pm and last bottle at 9pm (usually doesn't drink all)

LO's christening all set for 4th March, arranging is so difficult- we have to stop at 100 guests. DP wants to invite the world

Think LO's cold is finally going, its the horrible blocked nose stage, and all the catarrh is being vomited back- TMI. Hope it is going.

Would really like to get LO in bed at 7.30 ish, thinking about the dream feed thing, anymore suggestions? At the moment though LO stays awake between last two feeds.

Emzickle · 29/01/2007 20:20

what is medised? any one?

youngmum21 · 29/01/2007 20:41

took jasmine to get weigh today and she started screaming in pain had to get a doc to check her out who thinks she has a viral infection so she all dosed up on calpol!!! poor little mite i was so scared as she wudnt stop crying and nothing wud console her!!!
jasmine has normally 5 5oz bottles 7ish, 10ish, 1ish, 4ish, 7ish and then she has a 6th bottle at 10 which is normally 3oz

catgirl · 29/01/2007 22:09

medised is paracetamol and anti-histamine medicine in a liquid form, so good for chickenpox to stop itching.

DS2 is on 8oz bottles, one first thing, one lunch time, one mid afternoon, one early evening, one late evening. The first two he usually finishes, then maybe takes about 6oz, then the last two can be about 4oz, some days more, some less.

100 guests for the christening - I was inviting those that I have to - family and godparents - difference between first and second child maybe?! - we do go on about our 'neglected 2nd child'!

BENDYB · 30/01/2007 07:38

hiya every1, hope ur all ok!

lo has 7oz of milk at 7ish, 10ish, 1ish, 4ish & 8oz before bed at bout 7.15.

youngmum- good she sleepin ok again, not so good bout the infection tho, hope she's ok?

Emzickle · 30/01/2007 09:07

Lola has 5 bottles of about 7oz but she doesnt always finish them.

First one at about 8am, 11, 2.30 - 3pm, 6.30, 8.30pm... some times though, we have no routine,

Who here has got their LO's into a routine so you actualy know what your going to be doing through out the day, unlike me who just wings it everyday x

BENDYB · 30/01/2007 09:40

emzickle-we've pretty much got a routine now, he has his bottles at near enough the same times in the day & he's got a bedtime routine aswell- bath at 7, bottle around 7.15 & asleep by 8.

is any1s lo on solids yet? i'm so confused bout it all, just dunno when 2 start! coz now people say 6 months but all my family, & dps say start him at 4 months! I've been reading up bout it but still well confused! What is every1 else doin? I'm 2 scared 2 ask on the weaning threads, prob get my head bitten off for even suggesting startin before 6months! Any1 read them? so much bitchiness! lol.

Emzickle · 30/01/2007 09:43

I spoke to my HV about weaning last week. She recomends as my LO sleeps through the night, and is a happy and very content baby, to just continue with bottles until it becomes apparent that she is hungrier for some thing more.

My sister weaned her kids at 5 months ish - but I dont think there is a rush, everyone is different.

BENDYB · 30/01/2007 10:20

yeah, i've gotta speak 2 hv aswell, he seems happy & sleeps all nite, but he has started 2 become really interested in food tho, he really stares at us if we're eating in front of him, & he opens his mouth when he sees food! he loves being in the kitchen aswell when i'm cookin! lol, maybe thats a sign he's gettin ready for it! oh its confusing!

pmoore · 30/01/2007 10:28

Sad news this morning, my gran died last night. no more pain now, it was horrible towards the end.

On the routine thing- I seem to just wing it-no definite times here.
I did give LO baby rice for three days last week but she doesn't seem interested yet. I think all the while they are still happy and still sleeping through I will wait.

Did get a good weaning book- not allowed to mention name of it though. It gives you day by day plans if you start at 4-5 months.

nicand2 · 30/01/2007 10:54

pmoore - sorry to hear your news. Thinking of you.

Gemmitygem · 30/01/2007 11:01

hi all, sorry haven't been around for a while..

back at work next mon so been a bit frantic sorting stuff out. Nanny starting on Thursday for 2 days with me before she's on her own with him. DH is off to Turkmenistan on Sunday for 3 weeks, which is not very helpful just before I start back at work fulltime.. Yikes! Is very scary. other people here have left their webcams on etc just at first to spy on the nanny, but I don't think I could quite bring myself to do that: they've had enough years of the KGB! I think she is a very caring person, my only worry is she has this Russian thing of putting too many clothes on the baby and not wanting him to play on the floor. She said cot death didn't exist, but agreed in principle not to overwrap him for sleeps! oh dear...

anyway Darius is now sleeping through from midnight to 7, despite waking up about twice and whingeing a bit.

I've now got him on 2 expressed milk feeds from the bottle during the day (he hates the bottle) so it's not a shock when the nanny gives it him. He drinks 4 oz per time. Is this about normal, do you think? He has more in the early morning and loads in the evening.

wanted to ask if anyone is using a playnest thing yet? I'm thinking of getting one, but they say only at 6 months..

BENDYB · 30/01/2007 11:22

sorry 2 hear bout ur gran pmoore. xxx
i've ordered that weaning book aswell!
