Hi Eleusis, good to hear from you. I think a bunk bed sounds like a great idea. Dd and ds share a room and when I eventually move her from her cot that's what I'll do. They like sharing a room but ds wants his "space" too, away from a rampaging 2yr old.
DD is completely toilet trained, she decided herself the day before her 2nd birthday and announced " my big girl now no more nappies my use toilet". It was amazing, unlike ds who eventually trained about 3.5yrs - think it's a girl thing. I was putting the same pull-up on her every night for a week because it was never used, so I gave up!

She is obsessed with nursery rhymes atm, her biggest treat is finding a new one. She sings for an hour in her cot at bedtime while ds snores beside her.

How are all the rest doing?

LittleB · 25/06/2007 14:30

Hi all. dd is great fun, although she does have episodes of the terrible twos! She chatters non-stop, and loves her books, and nursery rhymes like your dd norhstar! She also wants to do everything I'm doing, cooking, cleaning etc, she must say 'whats mummy doing?' dozens of times a day - even when I'm doing something obvious right in front of her like cleaning my teeth!
She's in a bed now and she loves it, loves snuggling up and loves her butterfly duvet. Eleusis my nephew was in bunks at 3, but he was a bit of climber - he loves it though!
I'm going to try potty training dd in August, I think she's probably ready, I want to have a few days off so I can concentrate on it with her.
Just got her a ready bed, we've got a long weekend camping booked for this weekend in Cornwall, I just hope the weather improves, I think she'll love it though. Dd and her partner in crime, our 4mth old puppy, Rhubarb, will keep us entertained I'm sure.

northstar · 25/06/2007 20:42

wow LittleB that sounds like fun, the camping. Dd is like yours, this morning it was "mummy what you brushing?" lol.

northstar · 03/07/2007 10:30

Bump

LittleB · 04/07/2007 12:39

Thanks northstar, camping was fun, although a little wet at times! Dd loved her ready bed, and the tent and was very good, as was our puppy. Had fun exploring Cornwall and building sandcastles when the sun was shining, and buying gorgeous clothes for dd when it was raining. Planning another camping trip away in August now, can't wait. Hope everyone else is well, I just hope summer starts again soon!

northstar · 20/07/2007 11:41

It's really raining again today and the video/dvd player are both only offering sound but no picture, I'm going mad I think. How could they both be half broken it doesn't make sense?

shhhh · 04/08/2007 22:25

Bumping and adding a message to get us to the top..!!

"spoke" to myemay moments ago and remembered I haven't been here for a while .

Welcome to snowball4girlz...........lookedout at your pics..aww bless.! Where in the northwest are you.? Im chorley.

Well as is well in shhhh's household. DD is adorable although very trying atm. She tantrums at lots of things and is such a madam. Just returned frm a birthday party where I couldn't wait to get out of.........she is so demanding and with ds suppose she doesn't get as much attention as she used to.

She is doing well however. Sleeps and eats well and is still in a cot and nappies although I think she is getting ready for a potty as yesterday announced she had poo'ed . So at least she knows what shes doing/done.! She is also aware of a potty and does attempt to sit on it. She can count to 10 and surprises us with what she knows etc. Her fave things atm are iggle piggle/upsy daisy/macca pakka (itng) and is so cute tucked up in bed with them..

DS is doing well. He's gone from the 98th centile to the 25th BUT the consultants etc are happy with him geven what he has/is going through.
His stoma is scheduled to be revered on 31 Aug so we are on countdown.I won't lie, this 6 months have been shit although ironic as it sounds having ds has helped and has made parts of it enjoyable.
He is such a happy and content little boy. We never seem to be out of the docs but suppose I have parent paranoia mixed with genuine concerns.

Once ds operation is in our past we aim to take a holiday abroard...................to the sun. . Think we have earned it.

But you know what...........(although somedays I think im completly mad) I would love to do it all again..

Oh and im back on ad's. Only started this week mainly because I could feel myself slipping under and my wonderful gp knows what hurdles we have to face in a few weeks time and he wants to ensure im stong enough. I hate taking them BUT I feel a happy relaxed mum is a good mum and that = happy babies.

Hows everyone else.? xx

shhhh · 04/08/2007 22:27

the bit about ds...what I was meaning to say is "I don't regret a thing". He is our son and we ove him WHATEVER.
Didn't mean to sound ungreatful. x

eleusis · 13/08/2007 22:02

Hello everyone.

Shhh, you have definately earned a holiday. Where would you like to go?

How long will it take DS to recover from the next operation? Is this the last of it, or might he have more surgeries?

Hang in there.

pobletsmum · 13/08/2007 22:17

Hello everyone,

I was maymum on the antenatal thread. I didn't post that often so you probably won't remember me.

Shhhh sorry to hear you've been having tough time. I hope DS' operation goes well.

My DS is wonderful, if a little testing at times. He's in a 'big boy' bed which he loves, especially as it means he can climb on it to spy on our neighbours' children when he's supposed to be sleeping! We did do potty training, and had a very successful week, but the 2nd week he wasn't well and everything went downhill. End result - back in nappies, not keen on using the potty, so I'm leaving it for a while. I'm in no hurry and I don't think that pressuring him will achieve anything. DS always makes us smile with the things he said. Yesterday, in a shop, he said to a man walking slowly in front of us, 'excuse me I need to come past'. The man turned around, then looked down at him and just grinned.

I am expecting my 2nd baby in February, and am considering having a CS after a traumatic birth with DS (3 day labour, syntocinon, epidural, foetal distress, forceps etc.etc.). DS thinks he has a baby in his tummy too, and keeps telling me that his baby is going to 'sneak out today then go back in'. Trying to explain that once it's born, mummy's baby will be here to stay... It's a long way off though!

eleusis · 14/08/2007 08:10

Has everyone done potty training. I'm still avoiding it with head in sand approach. DD starts reception in September. So, we might tackle it when the new school run routine is in place. I try to avoid potty training when other life events are changing... Ok, I just avoid potty training. But, it would be so nice to get rid of nappies and the changing table.

Tiggerish · 14/08/2007 21:20

Hi all! Glad to hear of other lo's tantrums dd has such spectacular ones, several times a day sometimes. it makes me feel much better to know others do the same!

shhh - I really hope all goes well with ds's op.

pobletsmum - at the talking from your ds. dd does say things quite well at times but much of it is very unclear and mostly in 2 or 3 words at most. She did make us laugh today though - we were driving back from france and had the DVD on in the car. the kids were watching looney tunes cartoons and dd pipes up "rabbit season" "duck season" at daffy duck.

On holiday she also slept in a big bed for the first time. She fell out a few times but not too bad really. The first night away was the first time she has shared a room with anyone - she and ds (5) were in an adjoining room in the hotel. we put both of them to bed and ds settled down really well. dd though was having too much fun trying to get him to play, switching the lights on and off, generally mucking about and not going to sleep. I just couldn't get cross with her - i remember doing exactly the same with my brother on holiday

Oh, and no potty training here either. dh is taking both children to NZ in October/November and it will be far easier for him if she is in nappies. We are also letting her keep her dummies until they get back - i reckon they might need them for the flights.

northstar · 14/08/2007 21:56

Hi every one, we are just back from our hols too, dd had her first night in a bed, she fell asleep with her head at the wall and her feet sticking out the middle of the bed iykwim? So cute.
She announced "no more nappies" before her 2nd birthday and we never looked back. Unbelievable considering ds was 3.5 before we achieved anything approaching toilet training success.

Still got the dummy though

Good to hear from all of you and read how things are going, hope you come back and post soon.

northstar · 29/08/2007 15:08

Dd is in her big bed now, not too much hassle luckily. I think that's because it's the summer and she is very tired by bedtime anyway.
Ds went back to school today, and dd missed him so much. She will be in playschool 4 days a week from monday.

Maddison · 21/09/2007 21:28

Hi everyone, just thought I'd let you all know that DS3, Finley Jay, arrived safe and sound on 5th September, 5 days overdue We are all smitten of course but DS1+2 can be a bit too loving at times Oh and he has loads of DARK hair (imagine my surprise since DS1+2 are both blond!!)

DS2 is doing very well, though since DS3's arrival he has turned quite naughty especially at feeding time, he tries to pull DS1 over then they start to play fight, run riot etc, it's like they are almost feral, like they know I can't get up and do anything about it

Shhh, how did DS's reversal op go? Hope all is well

Northstar, I'm very that DD potty trained herself. We haven't started potty training yet, think I'll leave it now until the winter when we're inside more and DS3 is a bit more settled. How is your DD enjoying playschool??

LittleB · 23/09/2007 10:55

Congratulations Maddison, sounds like you've got your hands full with your boys, sounds like fun though! Dd is potty trained, took about a week, although she still wants to wear pull ups for poos, but I'll let her sort that out in her own time as I don't want to upset her and have her end up constipated. she loves prechool though, started a couple of weeks ago and just toddled off on her own to play, she goes to 2 afternoons per week when her gran has her while I'm working. I think I was far more worried about it than she was! she's oing well and is great fun although does have the odd terrible two moment, usually when going into ca seats or pushchairs. I love it when she sings though and she keeps bringing me home things she's made from playschool, me and dh just have to play guess what this new bit of cardboard and lolly sticks with glitter is supposed to be!

northstar · 02/10/2007 21:35

Hi maddison and congratulations!!! You sure have your hands full now.
LittleB, your lo sounds delightful compared to mine We have approximately 20 tantrums a day and 100 whinges....
Would swap changing nappies any day.

northstar · 18/10/2007 12:39

Bumping really
All good here, booked to go to South Africa for Christmas (which also includes my 40th!!.

Tiggerish · 23/10/2007 19:35

Feeling rather at the mo. dh has taken both dc to New Zealand for 5 weeks. I couldn't go mainly because of work, but also it's so expensive. All of his family are out there, so they will have a fab time, and I know will be very well looked after.

I have spent the past few days at my parents' house which was really good but now that I'm home it's sooo quiet and empty

northstar · 11/11/2007 01:40

Oh tiggerish how are you? Are you coping atall? My ds goes to his dads overnight once a week and I miss him soooo much. How are things now?

Tiggerish · 13/11/2007 20:09

Hi Northstar! I'm Ok really, but it's been a really tough time. Ds was really stressed and unsettled for the first 2 weeks and it was so hard not being able to give him a cuddle. He also freaked out on the webcam so we had to abandon that one.

Dd has been fine though - really enjoyed the whole experience. I guess because she is that bit younger she deals with things in a very basic and superficial way iykwim.

Anyway, for various reasons, they are coming home this weekend, a week ahead of schedule - I am just so looking forward to it, can't wait to have my babies back to cuddle (and dh too of course

northstar · 26/11/2007 10:31

Hey tiggerish are the family all back together?
I was just wondering what all the lo's are getting for Christmas this year?
DD wants a fifi toy that is a plastic tv thingy that plays the fifi song over and over again. I can't change her mind. DS (5.5) is pestering me for a nintendo ds but I don't know ....

Tiggerish · 27/11/2007 17:50

Yes - all home home safe and sound thanks It's so good to have them back. dd seems to have really grown up during the month away.

She started potty training today - her best friend at nursery has started and peer pressure is a wonderful thing sometimes!

For Xmas we are buying her a dolls house - another consequence of the NZ trip. She spent ages playing with her cousins' one. Not sure about ds yet, probably lego though.

northstar · 07/01/2008 20:17

Well Happy New Year to us all! We are just back from 18 days in South Africa and 2 in hospital on return with ds bad vomiting bug. Luckily no-one else in the family caught it. What are you all up to?
