Hi there! I don't know if you remember me, but I used to post quite infrequently as hollya on the may 05 ante-natal thread. I have recently come back as am pg again (due in june).

Hope you and your lo's are all well!

northstar · 12/03/2007 09:53

Hello Hollyandalice and Oonaghboonagh, of course we remember hollya, I was wondering what happened to all the early ante-natal posters. Congrats on new pg.
Actually, where is everyone? I know, I know.... looking after mad toddlers

LittleB · 13/03/2007 12:12

Hello all, its great to have people join us - this thread has been a bit quiet lately. dd is a handful sometimes but having read the thread about the worst things toddlers have done she's an angel really - hasn't yet covered herself in sudocrem or painted anything including the dog! we did have our first proper tantrum, she didn't want to get out of the swimming poool - we'd been in there an hour and were going pruney, so she lay on the steps and screamed, I carried her into the shower and then she calmed down! She is alot of fun, I love listening to her singing and I'm enjoying going to the park and out for walks now the weather is getting better, although it does take a long time as she wants to stop and look for spiders/flowers/ladybirds every step of the way!

Tiggerish · 02/04/2007 21:39

Another milestone reached today - I wonder how many of the May babies have already been there?

We took the side off dd's cotbed today She was sooo excited and spent hours climbing in and out of bed it was really cute. We've put a flip-up side on so she doesn't fall out and a stair gate on the door - so far so good. She went to bed like an angel

(Long may it continue!)

Maddison · 12/04/2007 10:56

Hi Tiggerish, congrats on being 'cot free'!! Glad she went okay - how has it been since?? We put DS2 into his own bed in November (actually he has the bottom bunk bed, DS1 has the top) but only because he climbed out of his cot on the lowest setting so thought it was safer for him.

I have my 20 week scan today [nervous], am hoping all is okay and IF baby cooperates we will find out the flavour DS1 (6 yrs) is absolutely desperate for a sister I thought he would have preferred another brother. Will post back afterwards.

Hope all May mums and babies are doing well and enjoying the nice weather

northstar · 16/04/2007 09:52

Yippee!!!!
School and playschool are open after the holidays.
It's sooooo quiet here this morning. It was ds's birthday on friday so we had a really busy day - he got a bike from my mum and a rabbit from us, dd is delighted with the rabbit. I was a bit apprehensive because she is a bit mad as you know.

Maddison · 18/04/2007 21:50

Hi Northstar, how old is your DS?? DS2 loves animals, any animal, I have 4 chinchillas and daren't let him hold them, he'd hug it to death

OH forgot to add it looks like I'm have DS3 in August/September!! There's far too much testosterone in this house Of course, DH thinks his male swimmers are super fit rofl!!!

LittleB · 20/04/2007 14:46

Congratulations Maddison, thats exciting. Dd loves animals too - we're picking up a puppy next week! I'm going to be potty training and housetraining at the same time I think - never mind - we need a new carpet anyway.

rachfran · 20/04/2007 15:00

Hello, can I come and join? Thought it would be comforting to have others to share the terrible twos with!
I have one DD born on 18th May 05.

Maddison · 22/04/2007 19:57

Thanks LittleB Exciting for you too getting a puppy, although rather you than me what breed is it?? We have 4 dogs (yip, we're mad!) 3 mixed breeds and a mahoosive german shepherd (she's more the size of a pony) as well as the chinnys, cat, sugar glider and fish

Welcome Rachfran, my DS2 was born the day before your dd

northstar · 23/04/2007 09:49

Ds was 5 last week Madison He is fantastic, couldn't cope with totally crazy dd without him!!!
They are really attached to Blackjack Catchim Rabbit already, as dd wakes in the morning she says "mummy i need say g'morning Blackjack"
CAN YOU BELIEVE WE ARE ALL ABOUT TO HAVE 2 YEAR OLDS ALREADY??????????
What is everyone doing for the big day? I'm not doing much atall, we had 2 parties for ds's 5th, and it is dp's tomorrow so we are a bit partied out atm (so is my purse) at the price of everything.

Maddison · 23/04/2007 17:34

Hi Northstar, I'd love to live in your house, it sounds like so much fun Who named the rabbit?? It's a fantastic name, I bet it totally suits it

As for having 2 year olds - no way, I can't believe it. The time has gone by so fast and ds2 looks so grown up I haven't even thought of doing anything yet. If the weathers okay I might just have a barbecue for family and his little 'friends' from playgroup (minus the adults this time though )

northstar · 24/04/2007 11:42

Maddison, come visit anytime! Would be fun of course. The rabbit naming was a family effort although mainly from dd of course.

Who's lo has the first may birthday? dd is the 4th and I know there's a few others on the same day.

Eleusis · 29/04/2007 21:03

Hi Everyone. It's been ages since I posted here. But, I wanted to say "hello". And no I can't believe DS is almost 2. We aren't having a party, but we are both going to take the day off work and go do something fun with him. We gat him a nice Trike (Kettler Happy Air) I hope he likes it!

Eleusis · 29/04/2007 21:03

Oh, I was Uwila back in May 2005.

northstar · 30/04/2007 09:47

Hi Eleusis(Uwila) good to hear from you! God strange to think this time 2 years ago we were all heavily pg and waiting to meet our lovely lo's.

northstar · 30/04/2007 11:39

I've just opened a picturetrail with some photo's of ds's birthday party if anyone is wants a peek my username is christalhorse. Sorry don't know how to do a link.

Eleusis · 30/04/2007 11:54

Can you copy and past the address from explorer into this box, and we can all copy and paste rather than having an actual link.

northstar · 30/04/2007 13:22

Just off to collect ds from school, address is www.picturetrail.com/christalhorse. Will try link when I get back.

LittleB · 30/04/2007 14:56

Hi Northstar, lovely to see you and your family, your ds and dd look very sweet. We've decided not to have a party for dd's birthday (12th May)- she'll have plenty when she's older, we're taking her to Longleat, to see Postman Pats village and some of the other attractions, we'll all enjoy that, more than having all the relatives over, dh's parents and my parents are divorced so family get togethers are always tricky.
Maddison, the puppy is a nova scotia duck tolling retriever, like a little red golden retriever. He's doing well, sleeping in his crate at night with no accidents, and when we pop out, had a few wees in the utility room, but only one on carpet so doing pretty well, already learnt his name - 'rhubarb', dd loves him and the follow each other around the garden pulling up plants, wandering onto the veg patch etc - they're my terrible twosome now . we just have a bit of trouble when he gets really excited as he likes to bite feet and dd panics a bit, but he'll soon grow out of that - he's also winding up my old collie (she's 15) but she soon tells him off, and I think they'll play together when he's bigger. I like having a busy household anyway!

Eleusis · 30/04/2007 15:01

Hi Little B. I agree about the party. DD just had her first one and she just turned 4. And frankly in view of what it cost I'm glad I never had one sooner. But, I'm afraid that I am now committed for the next 10 years...

northstar · 08/05/2007 10:40

Thanks LittleB.
Well I now have a 2 year old!! Had a few neighbours in to watch her blow out the candles on a caterpillar cake. She was so sweet though, the morning of her birthday she lay on her back on my bed and sang Happy Birthday to her toes

cab · 09/05/2007 00:57

Hi guys. Can you believe it's been two whole years??
We went for a VERY last minute bouncy castle option in the garden - one happy toddler.
Her piece de resistance was to wee on it once everyone had gone - then the living room carpet next day.
luv Cab

Hi Everyone...Sorry I haven't been around since Jn but all I can say is that life has been hectic..Before I forget Congrats to Maddison on the pregnancy (you must be around 22 weeks now) and also to holly and anyone else who I have forgot..Its nice to know that other may05 mums are having more babies..

Right where do I start.....DS was born after a horrendous 11+ hour labour weighing 9lb 13oz. Harry Nathaniel. He is the double of his sister esp when she was his age and is such a gorgeous guy..

BUT life has not been without its problems. When 3 days old he was admitted to pendlebury childrens hospital and although was allowed home after a week it wasn't until he was 5 weeks and had undergone 3 rectal biopsys that we found out his has been ill with " hirschsprungs disease". Basiclly there are nereves missing from his lower bowel so he can't poo properly. Very serious so an operation was needed to correct it. After a 3 hour operation he came back to the ward BUT a day later was rushed back for emergency surgery as he'd developed an infection of his colon. The only option was to fit a stoma (colostomy bag) . Harry is now 13 weeks old and is such a happy alert baby is gives us so much joy. He is back in hospital at the end of May for another operation to check all is going ok with his bowel and then hopefully the stoma will be reversed come the summer.

I honestly didn;t imagine anything like this and having gone from our dd who has never given us any real concern to our ds who has been quite sick its been a constant worry and an eye opener. He is putting on weight and dispite what he's been through he is now 12lb 15 oz.

He is so alike dd yet so unlike her iykwim..!! A nightmare feeder unlike dd yet a brill sleeper like dd .!!

Life with a newborn and a toddler is hectic and tiring and I have never drunk so much wine and I must admit with my 2nd baby my weight is even less of an issue..So what Im 2.5 stone overweight but when you put it into comparision of how precious life is weight means nothing.
BUT its worth everything we have experienced over the last year following conception. So those of you who are pregnant now have down days don't worry..you can do it. Yes it is hard BUT its rewarding eventually..well we hope so anyway!!!

Its nice to catch up with everyone btw.

Well dd....she is 2 next wednesday and I can't beleive how fast time went. She is adorable and is so independant. She loves a music group we attend and is so outgoing. She is not potty trained yet ( the hv can bog off..!!! I have enough on my plate!) and is still in a cot BUT given the fact that there is a lot of upheaval atm we don't want to stress her iykwim. Also she is such a livewire that I couldn't trust her to stay in her bed without wrecking her room..!! She is honestly like me and can't sit still for 10 seconds let alone 10 minutes..!!
She is speaking loads and is just able to say her brothers name which is so cute to listen to. She gives us high 5's and usually wakes at 9am singing the theme tune from fifi or postman pat..or po pat car, po pat car as she likes to sing..! Tee hee.. Cute toddlers..! A lovely stage but also sad as my baby is no longer a baby...

For her birthday we are just going to have people around for a few hours in the evening and dh & I are going out for lunch with her..Given last years issues at dd's 1st birthday (drink fuelled) Im not going down that route and if people don't like it then tough!

Hope you are all ok. xxxx

shhhh · 10/05/2007 20:39

meant to say that dd is speaking loads and along with everything else she can say has also just learnt to say her brothers name..Gosh from my post it sounded like all she could say was his name .
