Congratulations Shhhhh! What an eventful couple of months for you all. Welcome to baby Harry, and fingers crossed that he is through the worst and just gets better and stronger and will soon be wobbling round after his big sister
Come back soon and let us know how everyone's doing.
Confession time now ... Dd is still in her cot too, and what is worse, with a dummy still. She loves her dummys so much and sleeps with one in each hand. I haven't the heart to take them away from her.

OonaghBhuna · 10/05/2007 22:20

Hello! My DD1 is two tomorrow I cant believe it!!!I have just taken the chocolate cake out of the oven...... I hope it is edible....... My Dh and I are just going to wrap the pressies she is getting a trike! Her cousins are coming over for a small party so we will be having a few party games, pass the parcel, musical statues etc it should be good fun.
We had to put DD1 in her own bed in November because our DD2 was due at the end of Dec so we didnt want to make changes after the event. She LOVES her bed and calls it cosy and she snuggles the duvet around her, its so sweet. For the first few weeks she slept in her grobag and then eventually she realized that she could have more space.
Anyway, I love them both so so much

OonaghBhuna · 10/05/2007 22:22

shhhh - Sorry to hear about your son but delighted that he is doing so well now. It must have been so stressful for you, hope you are getting lots of support.

shhhh · 11/05/2007 19:44

thanks for the kind messages. Well initially there was little support. Only medical person we saw was the stoma nurse BUT I have pushed and pushed and it seems that we have been missed and we should have been supported by many many more people. Now we have a hv (arranged by myself) to weigh him weekly as I want to ensure he is thriving and a paediatric nurse weekly. Seems our gp wasn't aware what he had been through till I went last week to discuss his 6-8 weeks check and vaccinations (yup he was 12 weeks and it seems was lost in this system as well..) Madness that things can get so lost iykwim.

My mum can't stop praising us and say she doesn't know how we cope as we are not just being parents BUT also ds's nurse...ie changing stoma bags etc etc. Not the best of roles tbh atm BUT hey ho. I will remind him when he's about to get married . No No I don't intend to be one of THOSE mil....!!!

Northstar, don't worry about your dd being in a cot...dd is also still in a cot, not potty trained OH..........AND............Also has a dummy . We try and limit it to the car and her cot (usually places where she will sleep) as she loves it so much BUT tbh I don't care. I can honestly say she won't be 21 and still in a cot with a dummy lol..!!!

May look at introducing the potty in the summer, a cot in the summer and may send her dummies to santa...Think she will be old enough to realise the changes and to understand them by then. I really don't want to rock the boat with her iykwim..She still sleeps 7pm-9am and has a 2 hour nap in the afternoon...I know, I know we are very lucky BUT given how ds is atm we appreciate it so much and its a god send.

Any one's lo potty trained yet..? Any tips for when I try and start it..?? tbh im dreading it.

Happy 2nd birthday btw to you lo OonaghBhuna, how did the party go..?

We have also got dd a trike from elc. She has caught a glimpse of it in storage as I have been trying to put it together over the last week and she keeps pointing to where its stored and saying what sounds like bike..!! How the hell do they know these things...she amazes me but remembering things that we have probably said only once..

OonaghBhuna · 11/05/2007 20:53

The party was great, however dd found it all a bit overwhelming and spent the first part of it crying She evntually calmed down and enjoyed the dancing and all the sweet food The cake was yummy even though I say so myself but I was a bit worried that it would be awful!!!!
I am dreading potty training, we have a potty Dd is scared of it but today after her sleep she told me she had a big poo!!!!
Im going to have some wine now both DD's are asleep in bed

cab · 12/05/2007 11:47

Shh belated congratulations on Harry's birth - and sorry to hear he's having problems.
Haven't started potty training - although the potty is in the bath room and she sometimes uses it before the bath. Definitely time to start however as she's taken to pulling down her nappy and doing her business everywhere except in the potty -suppose I'm just avoiding it until the better weather.
We're still using the cot and am hoping it might last until say Christmas - do you think that's too long?
It's been a week since she turned two but she's still yelling "Happy Birthday Party Party" at every available opportunity.
Happy Birthday to all the other May 05 babies.

shhhh · 14/05/2007 17:00

thanks cab...I don't see a problem with you keeping the cot till christmas....in fact although I said the summer this is not set in stone and tbh I am inclined to keep it longer. DD doesn't seem to have a problem being in it and neither do we and (sounds awful I know) it does give us a place where we know we can put her while we get ourselves and ds dressed etc. She honstly is a live wire and I know she will have to understand the concept of a bed before we try her in it..!!! She has never been one for lying in bed with us either, when we have tried it night time turned into party time..!!! . So we may be another one heading for christmas with a cot..!!!

Bless you dd on singing happy birthday!!! dd screams when I start singing... Honestly didn't think I sounded that bad.!

OB, hope you enjoyed your well earned glass of wine. . Its a lovely feeling that..all babies in bed ASLEEP and you have just had a sip of ice cold wine.Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

northstar · 15/05/2007 09:43

Hiya, just popping in for some tea and sympathy if anyone's around? Dd has dreadful chicken pox, she has hundreds(well seems like hundreds anyway) and the worst affected place so far is her nappy area.
The doctor said that she should be home for 2 weeks and that ds will probably come down with them then!
Poor dd, ds and me, but the thing is dp hasn't had them and he is terrified.

LittleB · 15/05/2007 16:21

Congratulations on Harry, Shhhh, sorry you've had such a rough time with him and I hope he gets better soon.
Northstar, poor dd, my nephew has got chickenpox badly too, the only thing he'll let my sister give to him which helps is piriton, might be worth a try. I was going to meet up with them at the weekend for dd's birthday but don't want dd to catch it at the moment as we go on holiday next week (to a cottage in the Cotswolds - fingers crossed that the weather will get better!)
DD had a great birthday, we took her to longleat safari park which she loved, feeding deer, monkeys on the car, teapot rides and her favourite - camels! Had a great time, she liked my butterfly cake too, especially the butter icing!
We're planning on putting her in a bed soon after our holiday and potty train later in the year - she will try and take her nappy off (she can if she's in disposables but not when in her washables) and will tell me when she's having a wee or poo, she squats when weeing and hides when pooing! The only thing that worries me is when I walk the dogs she sees them wee outside and sometimes will stop and wee in her nappy while we are walking the dogs don't know if she's pretendinmg or not, but could be very embaressing with no nappy on!

Tiggerish · 22/05/2007 20:38

Hi all! Shhh, how is your ds doing? Sounds like you are coping amazingly well really.

northstar - hopefully your dd is over the pox now. Has ds got it yet? maybe another week or so to wait......

Well, dd is now 2!! It seems like such a huge step somehow. We had a great day on her birthday but very low key. Went to Betty's for morning coffee and they gave her a mini cake with 2 candles on She was almost singing along too!
We got some studio pictures done of both of the dc at easter and I collected the prints today. I've uploaded one of the best to my profile. Please have a look see

northstar · 26/05/2007 19:02

Wow tiggerish, lovely tiglets I hadn't realised your ds was the same age as mine as well!
dd is over the chicken pox, ds or dp didn't get them, although I was kind of hoping ds would as then they would have been over and done with.
DD has completely toilet trained herself. She announced 2 weeks ago "mummy I use toilet now no more nappies" and is completely dry even at night. I am amazed because ds was 3 before he showed any interest atall. Maybe it's a girl thing?

northstar · 28/05/2007 10:13

oops, can I change the message below to read... now ds has chicken pox and they are much worse than dd's were!

Tiggerish · 28/05/2007 12:27

Northstar. Just at half term too. I hope he's not too uncomfortable with them. i hope your dp doesn't get it too - it can be really horrid for adults.

northstar · 28/05/2007 12:34

I know tiggerish, the next 2 days are going to be hell for him! I'm terrible though I keep tricking him. "Oh my god look at your FACE!" and he runs to a mirror lol. He is a typical man.

Tiggerish · 28/05/2007 12:35

lol you wicked woman!!

northstar · 07/06/2007 00:15

It's June, so I'm thinking all our lovely May 05 babies are now 2! DD is completely toilet trained, she announced she was giving up nappies and did, just like that. Ds was well over 3 when I finally got him persuaded and I'm in total shock that she did it all by herself. She loves nursery rhymes, Cobbler Cobbler mend my shoe is her favourite today
Oh and dp never did get chicken pox.

SNOWBall4girlz · 07/06/2007 00:30

northstar · 07/06/2007 00:33

Hi Snowball, and welcome. It's never too late to join Sometimes it's really handy to have a thread where you can chat about the really small big stuff that happens to a 2yr old.

SNOWBall4girlz · 07/06/2007 00:44

thanks I know my little girl is not really talking much yet is still small ie wearing 9-12 m pants 12-18 m tops and I am still feeding her myself --feel that she should be bigger want to stop feeding but not too worried about her speech
sorry bit garbled lol

northstar · 07/06/2007 00:46

miranda3 · 11/06/2007 23:30

Hi, don't know if you can help over here but my little boy has just lost his favourite teddy and I wondered if anyone else has one you don't need? I'm asking here as he got it when he was born and its from Tesco so I suspect my best chance is people with children who were being bought teddies about the same time! Its a mid brown 8" soft bear with a ribbon round his neck with a pawprint design on the ribbon - I've put a thread in the 'wanted' section with a photo. I'd be VERY grateful if anyone has one I could buy!

northstar · 21/06/2007 11:51

Bumping this as we are so far down the list! All those 2 year olds keeping us too busy to post I think.

Eleusis · 21/06/2007 15:03

Oh, I haven't been here in ages. Sorry! I know I know. I can't believe my baby is a bog boy now. He is obsessed with his matchbox cars. If he's having a fit, it's usually bacause one of his cars is under a pience of furniture hecan't get underneath. Crazy boy!

He is still in nappies and still in his cot. It hasn't even occurred to me to poty train or move him to a bed. We are getting a new nanny soon. The current nanny finishes this week, then two weeks of no nanny, and then new oone arrives. And that's probably enough going on in his life for now. Might think about potty training in the autumn. And I'm toying with the idea of a bunk bed for Christmas. DD (4) and DS share a room so I think a bunk bed might be the easiest thing. I'm not sure though if 4 is really old enough for the top bunk.

Shhh, so sorry about all of Harrry's complications. But it sounds as though the worst is over.Poor little guy. And poor you.
