Is it just my baby who likes to sleep in my arms with a tiny fist full of my hair? 😍

NorthernChinchilla · 22/04/2016 16:03

She's a happier baby today cud, cheers!

It's funny handbag, she does like to bunch up her fists when she starts her sleep, and both OH and I have suffered hair grabbing!

DD has excelled herself today, two poosplosions which have required changes for her and me! But as she's been more chilled, I've managed to get some gardening done- she's sat out with me and kept me company in her bouncy chair Smile

Off to visit family tomorrow, please God the journey is less stressful than last time...

haquoi123 · 22/04/2016 16:52

Oh clumsy that sucks! For both the ibs and husband.

handbag you're a pumping superstar (uh oh, Arnold Schwarzenegger has just popped into my mind). Hats off to you!

troika do you get a let down when you express? I've found with my hand pump that I stimulate the nipple (I have to be looking lovingly at bubs) and then once my let down comes I just keep the lever depressed and the little chamber just fills up, I let go and it goes into the bottle, and repeat, rather than just pumping willy nilly. A hand saver once I worked it out. I don't know if that's how it's supposed to be, or if it would work for others, but it works for me. The milk bank stuff came through and I'm actually quite nervous about it all!

Best of luck with the journey chinchilla!

haquoi123 · 22/04/2016 16:55

Didn't mean to finish there. We've had poo after poo here! A poonami that I looked at and promptly ran a bath. I also run out of nappies (all our wraps have been pooed on and the change bag was in the car) so he's in an eco disposable. Luckily it's sunny ish so they're drying in the garden.

Lovely gardening! I should do some..

clarabellski · 22/04/2016 19:05

Evening all! Sleepy baby here today after the grumpy baby yesterday. Managed to get some garden tasks done as well!

Ds is growing out of 0-3 sleepsuits already, gaaaa....

LibertyBelles · 23/04/2016 11:26

Liners arrived today, thank you so much haq made my day after a second rubbish night of sleep where DD wanted to be attached all night!! Trying to feed her every hour today so I'll know she's not tired tonight and can get DH to do most of the wake ups

haquoi123 · 23/04/2016 16:05

No worries liberty, glad they arrived and are of use! Sorry to hear about your crap night. Hope feeding works - I've done that before and I found it really helped get a handle on things.

Exhausted here today. We went to bed at midnight, stupidly. Baby woke up at 3.30 and I found at 4 I was struggling to get back to sleep. When I did I had a dream that I'd murdered someone (recurring nightmare) and then bubs woke up again at 5.30. I gave up and got up at 6, hung out the washing, (secretly congratulating myself on being the first of our neighbours (gah, who have I become?!), put the nappies on to wash, tidied and cleaned the kitchen (took two hours!) and sorted out all the dry washing. Domestic goddess ahoy! Then we went to a gamelan workshop! Great fun. I'm so ready to crash now though, I feel ill!

LibertyBelles · 23/04/2016 16:38

God just re-read my message, obv I meant I'll know she's not hungry tonight rather than tired! I'm tired!

LibertyBelles · 23/04/2016 16:39

Aww haq being so tired you feel ill is the worst! I felt sick from it two days ago Confused

clumsypots · 23/04/2016 16:48

haq impressive! No wonder you are tired though, treat yourself to a takeaway tonight so no cooking/washing up.

We took my niece to the park today for a picnic and a game of mini golf, it was awesome and I won wahoo I didn't handicap dh by strapping ds to his chest no not me and the girls enjoyed climbing the trees. Now got to go and cook dinner for 8 adults and 4 1/2 kids oh joy!

clarabellski · 24/04/2016 09:45

Currently lying on couch with Ds sprawled on top of me out for the count, watching the London marathon.

haquoi123 · 24/04/2016 13:13

Hahahahaha!! Ditto, minus London marathon. Instead I'm buying things on my phone. Damn you PayPal!

XingXingFox · 24/04/2016 19:55

haq I'm self employed and DH is doing SHared parental leave for the next 14 weeks. I just don't get SMA for 14 weeks and he continues to get full pay. Is it because you're both self-employed? His work have done all the admin for us, as would be a nightmare otherwise. We're really excited about having this much time together, especially with the health issues we've had, it's been a rocky start.

So impressed with the expressing. I've been getting less and less and I've eventually just given up. troika I could have written your post, my LO tracks below the 9th and is just not bothered by boob. Won't feed to sleep or comfort suck. We go to Great Ormond St every 3 weeks and they aren't bothered so I hope that reassures you, but it's so different to my oldest!

clarabellski · 24/04/2016 21:21

Evening ladies, was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for baby swimwear? Would like to take ds swimming soon! He is 9 weeks tomorrow and is happy in the bath at home.

haquoi123 · 25/04/2016 01:31

fox Yeah it's because he's self employed, he's eligible for absolutely nothing! He took two weeks off work anyway unpaid, but that's a significant chunk of money and we'll see soon how that bites. I didn't realise it's possible though if the mother is self employed and and father PAYE. That's good at least, I'm glad you can access that.

clara no idea, haven't braved it yet, but I have been given a little keep-warm suit, it looks like the material from a wetsuit that folds around them with Velcro, to keep them warm. I think over a swimming costume. cudbywestrangers · 25/04/2016 22:30

Evening all! I'm trying to be sensible and have an early night... ish! Hope you all had good weekends.

Sorry to hear about bad nights liberty hope you have managed some sleep since

How was the nursery visit clumsy?

I think these small people nick our rational brains troika! Babycud doesn't really comfort suck or feed to sleep either.

I do that with the pump as well haq find it much easier that way.

We had a little body warmer made out pf wetsuit fabric for ds1 clara but was lent so no idea where it came from! I only put a swim nappy undernearh, but might have got that wrong. Once he grew out of that around 6 months we just had one of those swim suits. Think that would fit babycud now but not got round to swimming yet!

Things are generally pretty good here. I finally dug out the cloth nappies. But i seem to have forgotten how to use them as we are getting lots of wee leaks. Surely i don't need to use the boosters at 11 weeks??? We have tots bots easyfits for daytime and the bamboozles at night (night ones seem pretty bombproof!) I've been switching between fleece liners and not bothering. Milk poo ends up all over the nappy whether i use a liner and the disposable ones don't seem to do much at all, although are good once the poo is solid.

Unfortunately I am nursing a poorly left boob at the moment. Been feeling like i've been punched for a couple of days and think there is probably a blocked duct somewhere. Really hoping to clear it without getting mastitis...

Right, must sleep. Been a crazy day, buggyfit then back to nursery as they had a photographer in then home for lunch and quick blast of the hoover before going back to nursery. It's exhausted me, and another busy one tomorrow as i get to meet a colleague's 4 week old in the morning before baby massage in the afternoon. Should be a nice day! Night all...

HandbagFan · 26/04/2016 03:50

Gaaa! It's 3.50 and I've been up an hour first feeding the baby then nappy changing then feeding an over excited cat and finally pumping. Baby is in his snuzpod, DH is snoring beside me and I'm struggling to get back to sleep! I'mmso tired this week and only 3hrs til tomorrow starts yet here I am...

End of rant.

clumsypots · 26/04/2016 06:48

cud had to cancel the nursery visit as I managed to pick up the extremely nasty stomach bug that my niece and nephews have had. Dh had to have the day off work in the end as I was that poorly. Don't feel sick today just like I have the flu, my whole body hurts!

haquoi123 · 26/04/2016 08:47

Gah, handbag that's awful. Overexcited cat?? What's that like?

We went to bed at 9 but it didn't end up sleeping til 11 as bubs took that long to stop feeding. He then woke up every hour & 1/2, plus I had nightmares in between (at one point I told DH there was a centipede crawling on him...luckily he was awake enough not to take me seriously). Exhausted!

cud it sounds like they might need strip washing? I read somewhere about rinsing them, hanging them outside in the rain for 48 hours then washing at 60° with a little detergent and then extra rinse. Either that or putting them on properly (we'd been doing it very wrong) Here's a good video...

We've got a stash of bumgenius from freegle that have always leaked, but I might strip wash them to see if there is any more life in them. Otherwise I'm buying a new stash.

Boob wise, I've been told the cabbage in bra works (although haven't tried it myself)

clumsy that horrendous, I'm so sorry you've been so ill!! Wellness vibes coming your way

cudbywestrangers · 26/04/2016 09:54

You poor thing clumsy hope you're feeling better... stomach bugs are miserable

clumsypots · 26/04/2016 10:47

Thanks everyone feeling lots better now just exhausted. Hoping it stays confined to me in our house although everyone had it at my dm's so have been going round with antibacterial wipes and bleach today. It's dm's birthday tomorrow so have just ordered her some flowers and hopefully I will feel up to going shopping at the end of the week.

My sis swears by cabbage in the bra, she fed for 15 months so I kind of take her word as gospel for feeding issues.

Sorry everyone had such awful nights sleep, I feel a bit guilty for sleeping all day yesterday and all night.

LibertyBelles · 26/04/2016 10:47

Still fairly rubbish nights here but I was expecting it so it's not so bad! Started pumping today ready for next week, getting just over and Oz a go which is ok since I've got a week to get 5! Went to view first nursery today, was ok, staff seemed nice and children seemed happy but not great facilities
