Hope all is ok fourlegs DS is 20 days here and I'm still having off days with bleeding. Nothing too bad though.

Think I've just about survived the 3 week growth spurt. DS fed 30 times yesterday! That coupled with green poo and a ridiculous amount of vomit did not make for a fun day.

Still cluster feeding nightly until 2am over here too. It's a good job he's cute.

fourlegs what did the labour ward say? Slightly different case but I remember when I had a mc last year my bleeding tapered off then came back heavy again before tappering off completely - I'm not sure why it happened but it was nothing to worry about. Maybe something similar?

How is everyone else recovering from natural birth? Mw checked my stitches and told me they have heeled just fine but at times Im experiencing quite severe pain down below. Ive looked up the female anatomy (ha I'm rubbish with all the names!) and I think the pain is affecting the labia majora which feels very bruised and swollen, but at its worse the pain is excruciating- possibly nerve type pain? I still can walk far without getting pain down below and it's getting me down not being able to get out for walks. im 10 days postpartum. Anyone else getting severe pain at times? My mw didn't seem concerned but maybe I didnt explain the extent of the pain.

Elvi1 · 01/02/2016 23:09

Following on from my post above....Sorry don't like using the word 'natural birth'...I meant vaginal birth.

fourlegstwolegs · 02/02/2016 11:04

They said to keep an eye on it and to call back if it gets worse or clots the size of golf balls start to appear. So far they aren't that big.

How is everyone getting on? Still having clusterfeeding evenings/nights and a baby who is sleepy all day and WIDE awake come 10pm!

cheeseandcrackers · 02/02/2016 11:16

My stitches have healed fine but I still feel bruised 2.5 weeks on. With DS1, it took about 8 weeks for my stitches to heal completely and to feel comfortable walking long distances. I didn't feel excruciating pain like you describe though, probably worth mentioning it again to the midwife.
Bleeding definitely comes in troughs and flows here, I think it has tapered off and then it returns with a vengeance. It is triggered by feeding though so if I have been sitting on the sofa feeding for ages, I sometimes have a sudden flood when I stand up.

Managed to do school run then pop into a few shops this morning before going home and DS2 slept the whole time so am feeling like I might actually be able to get things done and life might almost be returning to normal rather than me doing nothing other than feeding the baby and trying to sleep all day and night. It took much, much longer to get to this stage with ds1.

firsttimemum15 · 02/02/2016 11:18

How old is your baby cheese?
We had s good morning too but think bab may be under weather. X

firsttimemum15 · 02/02/2016 11:19

I don't mean that as it sounds. It's been calm but she's sleepy think it's because she's under weather but I managed to make my appointment this am. Didn't mean it was good because she's unwell. Oops. X

He will be 3 weeks on Thursday. Can't believe how much he has changed already. He has lost that red-faced scrunched up newborn look and is really alert. I doubt 0-3 month clothes will fit for more than a couple more weeks, he's huge.

vickyors · 02/02/2016 19:52

With DS1 for me I had an episiotomy and stitches, and I couldn't sit for 11 days.. And the pain was so bad they prescribed co- cadamol, even though they're not really supposed to give it to breastfeeding mothers.. I went to the doctors at days 6,9 and 11 was in such pain.. And the bleeding was pretty bad for a month and then tapered for two weeks.. Having said that, I then got an infection and was on antibiotics.. But see your midwife and doctor, and bug them if you aren't on top of the pain..

Things for me are going ok. I had an awful night Sunday- Monday and yesterday was so tired.. Felt quite hormonal (cried about 5 times!) but last night was only up at 10 and 3.. So today felt human.. And Ds2 is a week old!! We registered her birth today which was lovely... And we got out in the car which felt like an achievement..

vickyors · 03/02/2016 00:49

Anyone else mid massive 3 hour long cluster feed? Hmm

Elvi1 · 03/02/2016 02:22

I'm trying to think when my baby last slept... I feel like I've been feeding since 6pm and now it's gone 2am! I don't recall him having more than 10-20 minute power naps over this period - this can't be normal?! How can he not be ready to sleep - even for an hour or two.

firsttimemum15 · 03/02/2016 03:15

Hi

We had a big one last night 8.30pm until 11.30ish. Constant feeding....

Sleep from 11.30-2/2.30. Feeding now remains to be seen for how long.

Baby asleep on me - refuses to sleep in her basket. I suspect reflux due to tongue tie but still waiting for referral to tongue tie clinic.
Baby is least of my worried though. Toddler has gone into meltdown - 7 of the 9 nights since baby was born he's woken and started screaming, it's like an epic tantrum and they are lasting at least 2 hours every time. Nothing we do seems to console him. I am at my wits end, tonight i had him screaming while i tried to sing him back to sleep while baby is screaming becaue her tummy hurts. I've given up on sleep for tonight and now eating chocolate digestives in bed while feeding baby.
This will be my 10th night in a row of only 2-3 hours sleep and no sign of progress, wondering how much longer i can do this before i actually start to go crazy.

firsttimemum15 · 03/02/2016 06:46

Oh no sounds like hard work I really don't know how people with toddlers do it.

I haven't had much sleep until this week really.

Saying that if you think there's a chance you could get more I'd be asking my partner to look after toddler and booking a premier inn. Hmm

Marsaday · 03/02/2016 08:37

Baby now has my horrible cold and can't breathe properly.
Have been up since 1am having only slept 2 hours.

firsttimemum15 · 03/02/2016 08:58

Baby had my cold. I ran the shower and fulled it with steam. Kept some damp tea towels on the radiator to keep the air moist and whacked the heating up. I used saline spray. Yesterday I managed to get a HUGE bogey out which must've been stopping her breathing xxx

LibertyBelles · 03/02/2016 13:16

Baby born on Monday - finding it hard to wake her in the day to feed regularly - have tried all the normal tips but is it ok that she's only feeding every 4 hours roughly in the day? I'd like it to be closer to 2-3 really

vickyors · 03/02/2016 20:01

Mars I went to the Gp recently as toddler had terrible mucus and coughing till sick at night.. He suggested piriton for kids.. We gave it to her for two nights and she slept and was much happier for it. It has the bonus of making them drowsy.. Worth a thought?

Our DS2 fed for 4 hours last night, but afterwards managed to sleep for a few hours so at least I got a break..

I'm keeping her awake during the day.. Trying to let her sleep once she's been awake for two hours. It takes a lot of tickling, and blowing raspberries on her tummy!

vickyors · 03/02/2016 20:03

Welcome Liberty .. I wouldn't worry about the sleepiness.. And as long as they're putting on weight I'd say 4 hourly is fine. What did the midwife say?

Phizpop · 03/02/2016 20:19

Hi guys, come over to join you, first night at home after our son was born Monday. Stayed an extra night to get more if a hang of b feeding, but now he won't stop, it's nice to know, reading back on the thread im not the only one! Not sure if it's comfort or lack of technique with this little one. Wish I could snooze when he does in the afternoon but that was when we were coming home, I managed 20 mins in the end I think. Least tonight DH can sort nappy so I can at least go to the toilet (toileting painful enough post tear without hearing your screaming child wake the ward!)

firsttimemum15 · 03/02/2016 21:53

Hello and welcome.

Take it easy. Yes we've all had cluster feeding. I was in hospital 4 days you're doing well to be out so quick. Not that I'm. An Oracle. X

LibertyBelles · 03/02/2016 22:02

Thanks vickyors midwife at hospital was happy with us today before we were discharged - I'll ask the visiting one when she comes to see us tomo. Argh parenting is so stressful already!

cheeseandcrackers · 04/02/2016 23:03

Hi all. Think this must be the three week growth spurt. Usual 2-3 hr feeds swapped for barely 40 mins between the end of one feed and the start of the next... School run takes an hour in total with no real option to stop and feed in the middle so hoping the growth spurt s over by morning or we're going to have a screamy drive home with sore boobs (they hurt when he cries - does anyone else get this? I didn't with ds1)

Nousername2015 · 05/02/2016 03:48

Same here cheese DS is 3 weeks and 2 days today and screamed the place down this evening if he was off boob for a second. Just managed to get him down for a couple of hours thankfully.

Oh my gosh - two weeks old here and wanting a feed less than 2hrs after the previous one, 24 hrs per day - a week ago she was going longer! Plus at night not settling back to sleep..
Also being sick at least twice after every feed.....arghhh
