Black bits in poo???

For the past week or so my baby (3 months old) has had black seed-like bits in his poo. He's currently formula fed, the only occurrences I have found online pertain to breastfed babies ingesting/digesting blood from bleeding nipples or vague horror stories of upper digestive bleeding.
My little boy is otherwise perfectly well, eating well and happy in himself...but I am freaking out at the thought of some sort of stomach bleeding affliction causing this.
Do I need to take him to the doctor?

It might be that, blood in the poo that's coming from higher in the digestive tract but if he seems otherwise well? It could well be something in the feed that's adversely reacting with him.

Best bet do consult the doc, I'd do just that at least your mind will be at rest and if there is a problem better sorted sooner rather then later:)

And don't believe all you read on Goggle re diagnoses, its often not quite that simple!

O/P, did you see the doctor and if so anything serious at all?.

Hi..yes, he said it is most likely just the iron in the formula being digested. He didn't seem to think there was anything sinister. Thanks!
