Lily I'm from the north west too :) but on the coast near blackpool but most definitely not in blackpool.

Soooooo much to catch up on. I've loved reading all the posts and back stories even though some I've 'known' since ttc boards and antenatal, it's nice to have a reminder of who everyone is.

Fanby that's sad about your friends. I'd totally be your bff if I lived near u.

Love those leggings frolic and saini was it?! Super cute. I think dd will have to a leggings girl because the cloth nappies give her such a big bum that jeans look too tight on her. I'm quite liking the cloth nappies so far although I've not a poop in one yet to clear up so that'll be the real test. I'm not a fan of the bulky bum look though I'm sad to say. It makes some outfits not fit and makes her look bigger than she is. But I'll keep with them.

Back story. 32 and live in the north west. Am a neonatal nurse which i love but im not missing it while im on maternity leave. Been with dp 2 years before getting pregnant. Got pregnant on our 2 year anniversary weekend away. Met online. Would have loved to get married first but as I'm now 32 I felt I didn't have time to do both and wanted a child sooner. Took us 5 months ttc which felt like the longest hardest 5 months of my life. I know this is daft because 5 months is perfectly normal and for some it takes way longer etc but I found it really hard to deal with. Anyway pregnancy was pretty good until high BP at the end so was induced and had forceps delivery. I had a positive experience of a medicalised birth though and enjoyed it (prob because of the epidural lol) . I do feel cheated now though and feel I missed out on a lot of things as daft as that sounds. I wanted to know how much pain I could deal with but that was taken away from me because epidural got put in pretty quickly because of my high BP.

A failed epidural sounds terrifying whoever it was that said that. I didn't enjoy having it put in but at least it worked.

Ooh forgot to say I had my first night put last night! ! Piper went for sleepover at my mum and dads. I'd tried to express milk for her but only managed enough for 2 feeds. Was only meant to be a house party but me and another mummy friend ended up heading into town for some cocktails heehee. Must admit it was really lovely to have a child free night and to feel like me again rather than just mummy. I only missed her in the morning once I was awake. Then I couldn't wait to go and get my hands on her and give her a giant cuddle. She was great for her nana and slept just as well. She generally sleeps aeound 6 - 7 hour overnight which she managed for nana. She even only had breastmilk in the evening and still managed the long sleep. She definitely prefers having a bottle though than my breast unfortunately. She's happy for ebm or formula but would rather it was a bottle. Im not going to stop bf but I do believe she would be a much easier baby if I bottle fed which is completely against what they're meant to like. I'm glad shell take a bottle bu i do wish she'd prefer my boob over the bottle. It must be because she gets it quicker. When she woke up at five she had a bottle and went back to sleep whereas with me she gets a breatfeeding as 5 and she won't go back to sleep until later on in the morning if I take her out in the car. So she gets more satisfied from the bottle.

Thankfully I'm not hungover today, just tired so we're having a snuggle on the sofa.

Having a weekend off the diet which is not good when I've only just started it lol but I really want pizza tonight. I'll just have to be extra good the rest of the week.

sianihedgehog · 18/10/2015 16:30

Kbro yes!! I had it around the edge of the dressing on my scar where the adhesive was as well. I was on an absolute shit load of morphine for the first day and didn't notice much pain from any of it (I was more bothered by the fact that I was absolutely TRIPPING BALLS from the morphine and constantly throwing up) and wasn't aware of the reaction on my back until I got home - there were no mirrors low enough for me to see my back, and I didn't get to shower in hospital, so I just kind of assumed my skin hurt from lying on my back... The HV told me that it was a reaction to Mepore tape and I should tell them next time I am in hospital and they can use something else.

Hi ladies! Just relaxing here before I start the housework! Have sorted out DS's wardrobe for the next few months as he's into 3-6 month clothes already! My backstory is - I'm 32 and been with DH for 14 years, married for 8. We live in the fens in Cambridgeshire and I'm a librarian managing academic resource collections. We live with our fluffy cat. It took us 5 months to conceive which felt like forever. Threw up from week 4 to week 16 but aside from that pregnancy was fine. Labour was a long latent phase but once my waters broke I got in the pool and DS was here a couple of hours later. Second degree tear ouch! I was a fan of the gas and air! DS is now 8 weeks. Better get on with this house work!!

mzzzf · 18/10/2015 17:39

What a cool job magra!!

My girlie weekend has been lovely. Just dropped them at the airport. Settled down now to watch rugby with DH (come on Scotland!) and DD who's fallen asleep in the crook of my arm Grin Its hit me today that's she getting so big. We also broke out the box of 3-6month stuff as she's getting too long for a lot of the 0-3mth stuff. Arrrgghh!!

Ok so I'm 34, originally from East Anglia but have moved around a lot! Currently up in Scotland. Been with DH almost 5yrs, got married April 14 and the found out I was preggo in that November and ta-dah - she arrived on August 2nd by EMCS after being overdue and having a failed induction and two epidurals, such fun! Pretty shit painful event and recovery was a little tough with wound leakage but I did move from Swindon to Scotland 3 days after she was born. I'm clearly a ducking idiot!! Grin She's one of the oldest on the thread along with Fatty's LO. Mini mzzzf was plagued by reflux and slept on me or DH entirely for the first 6 weeks, I'm thrilled she can lay flat now.
I'm a physio and specialise in medical physiotherapy but really I'm a massive science geek at heart anyway. I love my job and although I want to be a hands on mum I can't wait to get back to working too!!

DH is on his second week of his belated pat leave this week. We 'may' look at nurseries, or we'll just chill out with each other, eat sweets and dog walk. Oh and maybe we'll start on project nap soon, because at the moment she's still taking all her daytime naps on us or in the sling.

Anyone know the 'magic' body weight for babies to sleep through the night?!

OP posts:
FattyNinjaOwl · 18/10/2015 19:09

I've been out at the park most of the day! Nathan loved the leaves. And DD loved chasing the quack quacks!

Lilydreams · 18/10/2015 19:16

Right I'm back from the in laws so will read and reply soon! I've had a quick skim read and realised I forgot to mention DS's birthday in my post! I think he must actually be the oldest here as I technically should be in the July thread as he arrived on the 26th! Those of us who were on the August ante natal thread though will remember we agreed to stick with August postnatal even if they came in July ao we could find each other! Grin

Fanby · 18/10/2015 19:31

Ahhh sounds like everyone has had lovely Sunday's! It's been so lovely to read all of the back stories - helps me imagine you all that much better Smile

Counttheshadows - sorry to hear about your night, I hope you managed to rest up today x

Dozy - Ahhh that's so nice of you to say Grinif I ever move up north I'll keep you to it!
Massive congrats on your night out! So pleased you had a good time!! I feel more and more ready to leave molly now as long as she's in good hands obv! I regards to the feeding, and I'm sure you have tried this but a different teat? Molly always sleeps after EBM and not necessarily after boob so I think she gets more from the bottle quicker too...

Lovely photos fattie!! I love his cardi - is it a dinosaur????! Amazing!

FattyNinjaOwl · 18/10/2015 19:37

Yeah he's a dino. Heres a better pic. I got it from sainsbos. Grin I love it. So does DD she calls him rawr rawr baby.

August 2015 - Jaffa cake wars and many Mugabe greetings to you!
Fanby · 18/10/2015 20:28

That is so amazing fatty!!!! I bloody love dinosaurs...and babies...dinobabies!!

Molly is being a mare tonight and I'm exhausted. I just tried to explain to DH that I'm not really looking fwd to next week, just the day in day out drudgery of it and his reply is for me to start a project - wtf??! Where the hell would I find the time and energy to do that. Most days I don't get to brush my teeth until 4pm let alone take a frickin shower. He then said about getting his mum up to help...can't think of anything worse. GRRRRR, just want to go to bed...

X

FattyNinjaOwl · 18/10/2015 20:32

fanby could you try and do something different? Get out somewhere? Just to give yourself a change. It is repetitive a lot of the time and knackering. Flowers

mzzzf · 18/10/2015 20:50

Fanby he deserves a punch in the penis!! Hahaha! This is my threat to DH for all manner of things; leaving the milk out, farting on the sofa etc Grin Start a project ffs! But u agree with fatty - could you find one new thing to do with molly? New toy, new walk route, yadda yadda yadda.

I'm reaching the point where I need mini mzzzf to not nap on me during the day. She's at the 14lb mark and that kind of static weight for hours is a bit much... How do I do 'off me napping'?!?!!?!!! Confused

OP posts:
FattyNinjaOwl · 18/10/2015 20:55

mzzzf magic pixie dust? Sleeping powder? Erm, we could clonk them on the head with a mallet but I fear that may be illegal Grin

You lot need to help me. I've been in two arguments today, I've had to block one woman on fb and leave a group!

Fanby · 18/10/2015 21:03

Oh fatty!! What's been said?? Are these people you know in RL? Hope you're ok!

Yeh I will go out! This is just a quiet week for me, plans cancelled tomorrow, Tuesday is yoga and lunch with NCT, wed nothing yet, Thursday clinic and cinema and friday nothing yet...need to fill the empty days so I don't go stir crazy.

Fanby · 18/10/2015 21:05

Can't believe little mzzzf is a stone! How'd that happen?! These are supposed to be babies lol!
I haven't mastered the non person nap yet, is it bad that I don't mind the cuddles/ opportunity to watch TV uninterrupted ?

FattyNinjaOwl · 18/10/2015 21:11

fanby one is my dads ex....
The others in the group called me an uneducated weird lemon because someone asked me to guess the gender of their baby.... I told them its a baby and I've no flaming idea what sex it will be not gender. Apparently the 20 week scan is just to find out gender...Hmm

FattyNinjaOwl · 18/10/2015 21:12

I've no idea what Nathan weighs. Will have to go clinic on Wednesday. All I know is he is starting to grow out if his 3-6 stuff Confused

Fanby · 18/10/2015 21:27

Oh wow! Rather harsh!!!! I don't get why people 'troll', some people really need to get out more!
Can't believe he's growing out of his 3-6month gear! We only started using some of ours this weekend. I did buy a storage bag thing for under her cot today to put the clothes she's grown out of in-couldn't believe how small some of them are!!

FattyNinjaOwl · 18/10/2015 21:32

I know! He will be as big as his sister soon if he doesn't stop this growing lark.
His stuff from sainsbos fits perfectly. But anything from other places seems to be too small! I found Sainsbury's sizes seem to be bigger than others. So I buy from there. It's stuff others have bought that gets put in the too small pile first.

Lilydreams · 18/10/2015 22:08

Wow not many of us are from the north then eh! No wonder people were confused about my Parkin cake ramblings!

Surprising to see how many of us were crazy enough to move around due dates- DS ended up being 5 days old when we moved- stressful doesn't even begin to explain it!

Can't believe some of the babies are I to 3-6 month clothes! Some of DS's 0-3 month stuff is still too big which is funny as he's probably oldest- it's crazy how wildly stuff varies from store to store and even item to item in some cases! Loving babygap's stuff for DS.

Had a horrendous weekend food wise again! I'm starting to get stuck in the 'diet begins on Monday' trap!

DS has been an angel today- let me have lie in till 9am then aged quite happily with his dangly toys in his Moses whilst I showered and got ready and has had 4 naps one of which was 3 hours long and he didn't even wake when I transferred him from bouncy to car seat and went the in laws! I wish be would do this every day! He was a charmer to all our relatives and then has been overly this evening too but has just taken 1.5 hours to settle in Moses despite having been asleep on me for an hour prior to that! Ended up feeding him in the end he only took 3 oz- I'm a bit annoyed as DH wanted to bring him downstairs to feed him so he could keep watching TV- I'd thought he would want to feed him as he hasn't seen him all day except for his bath! Ended up going up and doing it myself! Men!!

Fanby- you sound like me planning your week with something everyday- only way I keep my sanity! I still use my work diary to do it! Bit disappointed that tomorrow's activity says 'coil appointment' I'm a bit scared now!!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 18/10/2015 22:17

Am in cluster feeding hell this afternoon / evening. Hourly feeding since 5pm Sad. My left arm has gone entirely dead and my boobs have totally had enough but grumpy 2 is not giving up. I cannot believe there is anything left to glug. We must be due a long sleep after this, surely!?!

No tips on the napping on people front other than that the floppy arm trick has always worked on my two and you could set a clock by their 45 minute sleep cycles so if I got to them to soothe them before they properly woke up I could get them to go for longer.

Those of you starting bedtime routines, how have they gone tonight? Here's hoping for lots of sleeping babies... Zzz...

Lilydreams · 18/10/2015 22:40

Slowwife- poor you! That really is a cluster feeding nightmare! Grumpy 2 is surely either going to sleep for ages or you'll wake up in the morning to them having grow 5 inches!

We have been doing a 'bedtime' routine since early days but it doesn't seem to affect what time DS goes down for the night! That said the only bit I do the same time each night is bath time is 7pm- depending on when he's fed in the day his last bottle could be before or after that! It doesn't seem to make a difference if he has it at 6.30 or 8.30 or any time in between he seems to always have his first night feed at 3am ish! I'm starting to think this is habit rather than hunger as he only takes about 3 oz and can clearly last! DHs nan suggested today that I give him water instead in the night and that he'll stop waking when he realises that is all that's on offer- when I pointed out he won't even take water in the day and so would cry she said to leave him cry- nod and smiles was all I could manage! No no no no no!!!

Anyway back to the 'routine'- I tend to cuddle him then until he falls asleep and carry him up to transfer to Moses- this has ranged anywhere from 8.30 to 11 that he goes asleep for the night with 9pm being the average time he will settle! Very unpredictable! I don't really know how to move on from this to taking him up at a set time and putting in Moses awake!?

His daytime routine is non existent! He eats every 3/4 hours but the actual times vary depending on when he has decided to wake for the day. And we seem to be in a cycle at the moment of every other day fighting daytime naps and barely getting any daytime sleep to only being awake an hour or 2 at the most and then happily going down for a nap some of which are monster 3 hour ones! Just wish I knew when these were going to happen as inevitably I end up doing housework/ being out/ busy and missing my opportunity for a nap! When I do chance it he wakes up after 20 minutes the little monkey!

Mugabe and good sleep vibes to all for tonight!

Clstow · 19/10/2015 03:36

Woah so DS just woke up at 3 after going down at 9. What a little treat! I didn't actually go to bed till 11 but still 4 hours sleep is not to be sneezed at!

Hurrah for a night out Dozy, although that sounds tough about Piper preferring the bottle, another dip in the rollercoaster that is BF.

Siani and Kbro the burns from the plasters sound horrible. So not what you need after labour. Women are so massively resilient to make it through and then even go on to do it again in some cases. Well done all of us.

No idea re napping I'm afraid MzzF. I'd love for DS to snooze anywhere other than the sling but so far no joy. Thanks goodness he's a little babba so carrying him round isn't too tough but at some point some kind of nap training will need to take place I reckon.

Totally agree that baby rearing can be repetitive drudge Fanby, I have to keep myself busy as well or I feel like I'm going mad. Shame we don't all live round the corner so we could all go for some coffee.

Urgh ignore those horrible people Fatty, sounds like you're well rid to me. LOVE the dino hoody, Saibsbo baby clothes are ace.

Sympathy for the cluster feed Slowife, just hope it's paid off and you're sleeping soundly now.

Our bedtime routine seems to be going ok but DS has made it very clear that he goes down for the night at 9 no matter what time we start. So yesterday's efforts to get him down at 8:30 in order to actually eat yummy roast dinner with OH after he spent aaaages making it were futile, but al least we know now. Am hoping when the clocks change it'll mean an earlier bedtime for DS but who knows Hmm

Hope everyone is snoozing soundly, can't believe another weekend has whipped past already...

Lilydreams · 19/10/2015 04:04

Just been pee'd on! Bad mummy alert....a tiny bit went on his babygro but it's where his nappy is so not on his skin.....he was screaming so much for his food I didn't want to make him wait any more by changing his babygro.....and now he's eaten he's asleep......I'm not waking him by changing it now..... It's 4am in tired!! ShockBlush

Tindel · 19/10/2015 04:26

Sadly no snoozing for me, was woken for a feed at 3am and DS will not settle! We've had two rounds of feeding, a nappy change, lots of attempted winding and cuddles, but he is still awake. Mostly contented (until I put the light out to sleep), but awake. Am wondering if he had too much sleep during the day - he was in the car a lot today, which often knocks him out. I didn't want to get into keeping him awake during the day to sleep at night, but I can't start my day at 3am regularly..
