My DC2 was born on 5th August and I'm up in the wee hours feeding away. Anyone else with their August babies care to join me?

I still can't believe he's here and in my arms!

Morning ladies!

We have our jabs on Wednesday, mini mzzzf was 9 weeks on Sunday so for her it's happening a bit later. Like you guys calpol will be at the ready!

DH did a half marathon yesterday so we were out for the majority of the day supporting him. I know he ran the race by my goodness I was knackered from all walking! Pregnancy and c-section have really impacted my endurance fitness!!

I can't quite believe she could be teething but I guess that would explain all her symptoms at the moment! She's kind of gone downhill in the last few days with her nighttime sleeping. Normally she's asleep for good 3hr chunks overnight but the last 3 nights she's done an initial 2-3hrs then woken every 1hr/1.5hrs being very upset and wanting comfort. It's knackering going back to no sleep again!! Any ideas of what might be happening or what I could try?! Aside from earplugs!! Grin

Today though I'm moving the cot into our room and giving that a whirl tonight! Anyone else in a cot yet?

Ladies you're all doing fantastic BF. Even though I can't I just wanted to give you all a little cheer for grizzing it out! Woop woop!

Also a question re daytime naps - do any of you wake them up after 2hrs? Asking this in the hope that this might help nighttime sleeps, although she rarely sleeps over 2hrs she has been having a 3hr one around lunchtime recently because I thought sleep promotes sleep! Arrhhh self doubt is here again !!!

Happy Monday though folks, let you day be filled with smiles and chocolate....lots of chocolate! Grin

loveandsmiles · 05/10/2015 11:40

Gosh this thread has been busy!!

mzzzf lol at you been tired walking while your DH ran a half-marathon - my DS played in a football tournament yesterday - it's played on lots of football pitches all linked together - massive - anyway DS said quick way to get to his pitch was through hole in hedge - so off he goes, not thinking I can't get through with pram - walked for flaming miles (felt like miles!) to go the long way round to his pitch - legs aching today - fitness definately not what it used to be Sad

On the subject of fitness and health - does anyone have a Nutri Bullet? I am back to pre-pregnancy weight BUT am eating rubbish - seem to be addicted to chocolate and cake - just seems easy to grab when sitting down to feed. However not good for me or baby. I am in my usual Monday morning mood of new week, new health regime - thinking I could quickly whizz up healthy potions in Nutri Bullet and sit down with that instead of sweet stuff. Might order one today?

Frolicacid · 05/10/2015 12:51

Good morning!

lily, I'm hating that pile of too small clothes. He's already growing up way to fast!
I had a copper coil before ds because I can't have hormonal contraception. It was brilliant. And I got pregnant on the 4th cycle after it came out. If I remember they do a consult with you before to ask about things like if your periods are heavy, weather you've ever had an std and a few things that can affect suitability for a coil. Maybe that's what they want to do over the phone?
I will be booking to have another one in soon.

Well done for negotiating your leaky nappy filled shopping trip fanby. How crap that you couldn't find any changing facilities. I've not really figured that out yet as we live in the middle of town and I've just been coming home when needed. Sil said I was very rock 'n roll yesterday for walking to the beach without a changing bag Hmm.
My dh is generally brilliant but he hasn't quite got the needing to speed up and get things done right now to avoid a melt down yet.
I'm also due a smear. Agree with all the comments re: needing them to be offered earlier and more frequently.
I'm also undecided about how long to bf for. It's going really well so far, but I'm not putting any pressure on myself to go beyond today really.

My wound is feeling better today thanks clstow. I had totally overdone things. I'm going to have a much quieter time this week. The crap weather will put an end to massive walks for a bit.

Well done on yesterday's race mr mzzf.
Ds isn't in a cot, but we have a crib that is just like a small cot and he's been in it for a few weeks. The sleepyhead fits inside so he's nice and snuggly.
I think I posted yesterday about ds' naps. I was waking him up when he stirred or if he'd been down for long. I've stopped now and he's having much longer naps, not getting so overtired and sleeping better at night. Someone said on this thread a few weeks ago about never waking a sleeping baby. I wish I'd listend sooner.

Well done on getting back to pre-baby weight loves. I have a LONG way to go Blush. I don't have a nutribullet, but my super fit and healthy friend loves hers.

I hope everyone is having a good Monday so far.

Lilydreams · 05/10/2015 13:26

Omg Fanby I can't believe you didn't like calpol!!! I loved it, used to pretend I was ill just to get some! Me and DH were licking the syringe after Luca had had it before washing it! It tastes exactly the same!

Mzzf- if only Luca was still asleep 2 hours into a nap!! I have the opposite problem he will only nap for 30 mins max!! Unless we are out and in car seat or pram then he sleeps the entire time! But putting him down for a nap literally has only ever lasted 30 mins! It's a bit annoying as I can't get anything done and have never been able to do the sleep when baby's sleeping thing as a result! Also means I can't ever really have a lazy day as if we don go out he doesn't sleep enough and come the evening he's mega cranky!

Not got a nutri bullet myself love but my brother is obsessed with his he buys a small farms worth of veg each week to put in it! V.impressed you are back to pre baby weight I'm dropping about a pound a week eating well with no exercise yet but still need to shift approx a stone! Was going to try a run today to see how much fitness I've lost but not braving this weather!! Going to a exercise class tommorrow where you take baby too which should be interesting and going to yoga on Thursday as I'm missing it sooooo much having done it all through pregnancy!

Frolic- thanks for the coil advice glad to hear you rate it and very glad to hear you got pg quickly after it was removed- my cycles were a right mess when I came off the pill, another thing I want to avoid for next time!

Having a great Monday so far- me and DH have just blitzed the house as it was filthy and Luca played on his play mat and had his 30 min nap whilst we did- he's being an angel baby today very happy and smiley! DH has done both today's feeds so far too which is nice- he's off all week now so hoping more of he same to come!

FattyNinjaOwl · 05/10/2015 13:29

I've got to lose the weight from two babies Blush I've got around 5 stone to lose to be back to what I was before the 2 littlest ones and the flaming SPD

I've used a cot from birth with DD and DS2. DS1 hated his cot and co slept.

I'm absolutely knackered today. I really didn't get a lot of sleep. Am currently sat in mcds with DD Blush so much for diet!

loveandsmiles · 05/10/2015 18:48

frolic and lily only got back to pre baby weight due to hardly being able to eat during pregnancy - however, look horrific without clothes - need to get back into exercising but finding it impossible to make the time. If I do get a moment, just want to sit down. You sound like you've got lots of exercise lined up lily - very organised!

fatty sometimes you need a mcds to help you through the day when you are so tired - hope you get a sleep tonight.

It's the first time it's rained when I've had DD out in pram - I had a right carry on trying to get raincover out of packaging and figuring out how it went on pram - she was practically drowned by the time I worked it out - should have practised in house when I got it! I have been ridiculous with prams over the years - like an obsession - had at least 2 for each DC and they all seem to have different ways of attaching raincovers!!

kbro79 · 05/10/2015 18:58

Am in the same boat as lily am afraid mzzzf so no advice. Aidan just catnaps. 30 mins here and 20 mins there. So sleeps ok at night but we get horrible over tired crying.

Today was quite adventurous. We ventured on the tube to Central lomdon to see my work place. Everyone fussed over him lots and said how cute he was which of course I loved hearing. Smile

My diet is terrible at the minute. Lots ready made crap and sugary treats. Must try and improve it. I puked so much in pregnancy I didn't put much weight on but have piled it on since having him. Oops.

Kind of hard to explain but tipped the pram up stairs and tipped it far to high as lost footing. Thankfully he was in the car seat not pram so strapped in but ending up in hormonal mess of what if he'd fallen out tears. I can drive myself mad with 'what ifs'.

Frolic a week of taking it easy sounds good. Look after yourself.

Hope everyone else had good start to the week. Where has the sun gone?

Clstow · 05/10/2015 19:01

Argh the jabs were horrible! Maternal instinct has kicked in like mad, I can't bear to see poor DS in pain Sad Luckily the calpol is helping and he's sleeping on me now but I would do anything to take away his pain. As a first timer the strength of my feeling for him still surprises me.

I was thinking about starting to use our cot for nap times MzzzF, will be interested to hear how mini-M gets on tonight. Also, I wouldn't wake a napping baby, I really believe that sleep promotes sleep and she may be having a developmental leap which would explain things - check out Wonder Weeks as it predicts when your LO will go through a leap and behave differently.

One of my best pals is obsessed with her nutri-bullet Loves, she reckons it really is a lot better than other juicers and the smoothies she makes are yum. I also want to start being healthier but the chocolate and cake is always calling to me - I blame breast feeding Wink

I have the same problem with DS not napping for long at home Lily - except he doesn't ever send himself off. I have to rock/feed him to sleep which I know can't continue long term. Have any of you experienced mums got any tips for getting LOs to self soothe?

Ooh I fancy a McD's milkshake now Fatty, hope you get some more sleep tonight.

mzzzf · 05/10/2015 21:39

Clstow - mini mzzzf is the same. Due to the reflux and needing to hold her upright for 20mins post feed we don't get a chance to put her down when she's not sleeping as she's usually sparko after nighttime feeding... And it seems wrong to wake her to get her to sleep again! So in short, yes to putting down tips!!!!

Frolicacid · 05/10/2015 21:54

Does anyone know anything about post c-section infections? Would I definitely have a high temperature? I don't, but I feel bloody awful. I ache all over, especially around my wound. I'm not sure if I've just physically done myself in over the weekend or if I'm coming down with something. My bleeding has stopped, which I'm assuming is a good sign. I've no idea weather to bother the gp or not really.

Well done on blitzing the house lily. We so need to make time to do that. I'm amazed at how much more mess there is with one extra little person.

Maccy d's is perfect food for when you're tired and need a bit of comfort fatty.

I couldn't eat for most of my pregnancy as well loves. I initially lost almost 2 stone. But by the end I could keep crisps, cheese sarnies, Haribo, chips and ice cream down - which is probably why I've now got about 2 stone to loose! Whoops!
I had exactly the same thing with the rain cover today. By the time I got it on the shower had passed and ds' blanket was soaked Blush

I almost tipped the pram up the other day kbro. And I cried over the what if. I hope you feel better tonight Flowers

Sorry the jabs were horrible clstow. I'm totally dreading them.

I hope everyone has had a good Monday. I'm gutted that the nice weather has ended.

Joskar · 05/10/2015 21:55

Also have two babies worth of weight to shift thanks to spd that never went away. You'd think breastfeeding two bairns would shift it but apparently I have to stop eating shite too! Outrageous!

Poor dd2 doesn't get an option on being woken up from naps. Dd1 has usually taken matters into her own hands if she thinks there's too much sleeping happening. The sling is the only place she gets a chance because dd1 can't reach!

I once hooked the dog lead round the pram with dd1 in it while I unlocked the car and he saw another dog and went to say hello taking the pram down in the process. I was so angry! Unreasonably so because she was fine. I think I was mostly mad at myself. Also once drove 20 miles home and then realised I hadn't strapped up the car seat properly. Shock

I've no sleeping tips. Especially not self soothing. All I know is that dd1 was the worst sleeper ever and now she isn't but so far dd2 is great. It's mostly down to the baby imo. They grow and develop and change all the time and the only certain thing is that this too shall pass - the good and the bad. I have to work very hard at relaxing about it. I felt like such a failure and like everyone else was winning at the sleep thing. It's hard. There wouldn't be a million "sleep solution " books/blogs/websites/experts if it was easy. Just try and see what works for you and don't hate yourself if your routine is different from the advice or if what you try doesn't work. People go nuts over it.

mzzzf · 05/10/2015 22:32

Joskar you are a sage of wisdom!!! DD has always slept wonderfully on us, it's just the wonderful sleep off us that we're in need of. Must keep in mind that it'll sort out when it's ready to!
And good to read re the dog leads, that's something I'd do in my state at the moment!!

Frolic - yes you can be infected. I felt ok and still had to have two rounds of big abx!! What does your scar look like? Is it hot or red? And leakage? And strange hard lumps underneath? In short though - get thee to a GP!

It's lovely having DH home. We had a chat and basically us two nipping at each other is mostly because we miss each other and then, ironically, take it out on one another when we do have time together. All weekend and today we've been a real team because we're together and have a chance to talk. We're total lunatics for being like this!!!

DD's jabs are on weds, so tomorrow we're going out for the day in advance!! Only into the city but it'll be good to have a mooch - and to buy calpol!!!

Frolicacid · 05/10/2015 22:34

I don't have any putting down tips. Ds started off fantastically, but is getting worse all the time. His preferred sleeping position is face down on the boob. Last night I was contorting myself over him in the sleepyhead and dangling my boob in his face to try and con him into thinking he was still lying on me.

Frolicacid · 05/10/2015 22:39

X-posts mzzf. My scar looks fine. Perfectly healed. No redness, lumps or bumps. I think I've overdone it and that's why my muscles are so achey. But I will definitely call the gp if there is no change tomorrow.
Glad you are having a lovely time with dh. It's so easy to snap at those closest to you when you're tired. We've noticed that too. Enjoy your trip out tomorrow.

FattyNinjaOwl · 06/10/2015 00:15

I'm another who has absolutely zero tios for putting a baby down to self soothe. DD just did it. I was desperate for a poo one day so led her down while I went to the loo and came back to find her asleep, so I did it every day then (wandered out if the room, just to see if she would settle herself) and without fail she slept.
DS1 would not sleep. At all. Ever.
DS2 does sleep sometimes. But mostly lies there laughing at himself, because he is ever such a clever boy and can roll himself nearly over. (Gets stuck on his arm, and ends up back in his back) for some reason this highly amuses him.

mzzzf · 06/10/2015 06:30

Ladies - the cot went extremely well! Mini mzzzf only woke for feeding every 4 hrs and that was it!!!! Grin Just transferred the lamb skin from her Moses to the cot and bingo - goodnight Vienna!!

Of course it could just be complete fluke so we'll try again tonight but suffice to say I didn't wake up to find her crumpled at the end of the Moses from rocking herself down the end or woken from the sound of her constantly the sides of the moses.

Going to buy, what I call, a bra today!!! Such fun Grin

Fanby · 06/10/2015 06:59

That's so weird, my last msg didn't post!

Overview...

Yep we have a nutribullet, really easy to clean and we use it a lot. However it makes more smoothies than juice so it depends what you like!!

Molly's day time naps don't last 2 hrs, I wish they did!!

Kbro-How was central London? My old work want me to take molly in...used to work in soho and it'd be a chance to go shopping! I live in south London and so far have made it as far as Victoria lol.
Does it make you feel better that she tapped her head against the side of the table on Sunday, she cried, I cried...DH took the piss...

Clstow-hope your little on is better after jabs!

Frolic - sorry to hear your scar hurts, hope it feels better asap!!

God I'm tired and she's actually slept
Pretty well....

Dozygirl · 06/10/2015 07:53

Dd also has lovely long sleeps in the day if she has a trip out in the car seat either in the car or pram. But won't sleep as long at home. I managed to do a bit of tidying yesterday while she slept but she woke before I could prep tea. So then I had to cook tea whilst hearing her cry because dp couldn't settle her while I was cooking. She wanted boob and wasn't for being distracted. But I did manage to finish it and had made a really yummy curry with lots of vegetables in it much to dps disgust haha. Weiggtwatchers is actually going ok. Mainly because I do get a lot of points so I don't feel like I'm starving myself and it just helps me focus on what I'm eating so I only eat 2 biscuits instead of a whole packet.

Kbro how scary for you. Glad nothing awful happened. Sometimes I've forgotten to do the straps up in the car seat when I've been for a walk first and then put herin the car. Luckily nothing has happened but I'd never live with myself if something did.

Clstow sorry to hear ds is suffering with the jabs. Mine are today. Must get calpol in ready. Hope he feels better today. Not sure how long the affects can go on for.

Now this maybe just a fluke and I'm sorry for those that are still having difficulties but dd just slept through the whole night. Mind you, I kept waking up to check on her and make sure she was breathing but I can't believe it! Just typical she's having her jabs today which will probably send her backwards. Just can believe she slept so long. My boobs were certainly ready for her to wake up sooner. She gave me the biggest grins this morning too. Grin

I've been using a crib for dd at night. She's much better in it. It swings but u can stop it swinging when she gets bigger be a use even now a little bit of wriggling and she'll roll to one side and be hanging out the gaps. It's alright when she's just sleeping.

Dozygirl · 06/10/2015 07:56

Missed put frolic. Hope you're feeling better. Best to get it checked out.

Fanby · 06/10/2015 08:07

Dozy-already posted back to you on FB re: sleep. Just wanted to wish you good luck today for the jabs xx

Frolicacid · 06/10/2015 08:52

Morning all!
I'm feeling much more human despite having a crap nights sleep. I do think I've just had achey mussels from overdoing things. But I shockingly managed to get a gp appt for later this morning so I can be checked out just in case.

Well done mini mzzf for sleeping in the cot. Enjoy shopping today.

well done piper for sleeping all night for dozy. Good luck with the jabs.

Hoping the thread has been quiet because the rest of you were getting some sleep Smile

Fanby · 06/10/2015 09:12

Wow! Can't believe you managed to get an appointment same day lol! Go you! Fingers crossed all is fine as you say xx

Is it wrong to not wind molly after feeding, she's asleep on the boob and I just want to drink my tea and watch the start of the new series of The Leftovers...#selfish

loveandsmiles · 06/10/2015 09:37

dozy a whole night!?! - amazing

kbro I am living off sugary treats - really need to cut back! You must have got a right fright with the pram - it's hard not to think 'what if' but it definately makes you more careful in future. My worst pram incident was putting shopping and DD3 in car then driving off leaving pram! At least she wasn't in it but when I drove back it had been stolen - it was brand new with cosy toes and changing bag - gutted - I always double check every time I have pram and car nowGrin

clstow cake and chocolate call me too - juice/smoothie just doesn't have the same appeal

frolic glad I am not only one struggling with a rain cover - got it on first time this morning - pouring down for the school runSad. Good you managed to get such a quick GP appointment - best to get checked out - I've had 4 c sections and not experienced this so doesn't sound right - hope everything ok.

Like joskar and fatty I unfortunately have no sleeping tips either - they are all different and seem to just do what suits them - all I can say is they do sleep eventually!!

Well done mini mzzzf

fanby my birthday next week - think I will ask DH to buy me the NutriBullet - not very romantic but needs must.

Off to toddler gymnastics - can't face dragging toddler and baby out in rain - would much rather sit on sofa but here goes....

Fanby · 06/10/2015 09:54

Cannot believe someone stole your pram!!!! How long until you'd realised you left it? Absolutely gutting! Hope you enjoy toddler gym!

We have an exciting trip to the post office planned haha. Also meeting the NCT girls for lunch which is a lot more exciting lol. Tbh I can't even be arsed to get dressed.

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 06/10/2015 11:23

Hi all,

We had some family visiting so not had chance to post.

Dozy, we've just had a 7 hour stretch from midnight to 7am here too! I'm not sure if it is relevant but I fed him downstairs and then he was a little awake by the time I got him into the grobag and crib so effectively fell asleep by himself.

Daytime naps tend to be in the bouncer and 45 mins max whereas in the sling/pram/car seat we can get hours. On the days when DD is at nursery we sometimes have a sofa day and he'll sleep up to 3 hours on my chest. It's bliss and I think helps us bond - that's my excuse for not putting him down anyway! Having a toddler means I worry DS doesn't get the same level of attention DD did so I cherish these little moments and try not to worry about getting him to nap in his crib. DD grew out of sleeping on me by 6 months and naturally fell into a napping routine in her cot and it wasn't anything I did.

I have definitely put on weight since DS was born. I am usually pretty good at healthy eating and exercise but just can't find my mojo. I did lose it after DD though so hope I can do it again.

Good luck to everyone who has jabs looming. DS is fine now and back to his smiley, chilled out self so the after effects, although horrible at the time, don't last too long.
