Happy New Year! I wonder how many pregnancy announcements we'll get on the thread in 2016... ?
When I had my older daughter, she always had pretty but ultimately sensible shoes, I was a bit of a snob on what child's shoes should look like (patent and with a buckle... yawn). So just been to the January sales to get DD her second pair of shoes having grown out of her Clarks First Shoes.
Got measured in Clarkes then popped over to Sketches. Got her some Twinkle Toes - light up glittery, silver, purple sparkliness! I debated long and hard with myself as to if they were chavy and I'd be judged - decided that she's my Precious Last Born so I don't care if she's indulged in some girliness!
Anyway, our routine is the go-with-the-flow school holidays version at the moment. Very different to term-time when various aspects of our day are time-dependant. Here's our term-time routine:
7am - I was with older children
7.30am-8am - DD wakes. 7oz bottle of formula milk
9.00am - breakfast
9.30am - Nap
11.00am - Woken
12.00pm - Lunch
1.00pm - Nap
3.00pm - Woken if not awake already
4.00pm - Snack
5.30pm - Dinner
6.30pm-7.00pm - 7oz milk and PJs downstairs, whenever she starts getting crotchety
7.00pm-7.30pm - Teeth and bed. I aim for 7.30 will go from 7pm if needed.
It's rare for her to wake again until morning.
On non-school days her morning nap naturally falls later, especially if she sleeps in later in the morning. This also pushes the PM nap out of kilter. She has occasionally managed 11.30am-3pm single nap days, but usually still prefers 2 naps.
Storytime happens at 7.30pm with DS6, but DD usually isn't interested in it. We do most of our 'reading' in the daytime. Books are fun playthings at the moment and we like bedtime story to be less of playtime and more of listening to and engaging with the actual story. So she'll join in this probably at some point this coming year, when she's ready.
She drinks loads and eats everything. No babyfood though, she eats with us. I cook a meal everyday (hence the 5.30 dinner - that is the time we all sit together and eat). She uses her hands to eat - using cutlery is something we've talked about needing to tackle.
Here's a thing - don't know if I should be impressed or horrified, but DD can use DSs Kids Kindle. She can swipe to unlock, knows how to locate Peppa Pig and play a video. Then knows how to select the next episode when it's done. She does still uncontrollably swipe at the screen when it's playing (causing it to pause and unpause) so hasn't fully 'got it' yet, but she's not far off.
As well as DS6 getting a kindle for Christmas that has been accosted by his little sister, he also had a Kiddie Zoom Camera - which DD also loves using! It is very, very simple to use mind you. Got some interesting (I use the word loosely) pictures yesterday when I left the Kiddie Zoom with DD for an hour. She took hundreds of photos!
