Dec I really hope you slept ok Flowers
Sept, in sure your night out will be great! I'd start introducing a bottle ASAP so that you have plenty of time to find one you both like, and DD is happy to feed from it when the time comes. My DD's sleeping has just suddenly improved vastly, out of absolutely nowhere! She used to be rocked or bounced to sleep pretty exclusively, but just in the past week or so she'll happily just drift off lying on her bed/my bed/the couch etc. Does your DD take a dummy? For mine her dummy is a signal that it's time for sleep, so as soon as it's in she knows that it's sleepy time. In fact this morning when she woke up (around 5) I just went through, put her dummy in and turned on the bedside projector/music player and she went straight back to sleep. No night feed!
Don't panic. Your DH is right, there is still plenty of time.

Hope you go on ok today Dec x

We're ok here, still plodding along. Quade's had a few different tastes so far but he loved chocolate brioche the most! Looking forwards to our holiday next week, am sure he'll love a bit of Spanish food lol.

2 gorgeous babies Grin
bigfam they really are growing too fast, aren't they?!
Well last night Dd wouldn't sleep and today was pretty bad! Just realised I really don't like who I work with (hense why I was looking for a new job before) so I will have to continue looking for something new I think! Ah well! Kids were fine so that's the main thing!

Thanks for the encouragement Chi, it's good to know that there is hope! I am a real worrier and know it will be hard to leave her the first few times. My parents are desperate to look after her for a few hours too and I know it will he good for us and for her (and them!).

She won't take a dummy however she falls asleep pretty much instantly when I sing to her so I guess that's her sleep clue! Just need to try a bit harder at getting her in her cot a bit earlier. May need to sacrifice my dinner for a week and spend the time getting her into a better routine at night.

Hope you get done better sleep tonight dec!

Pesto11 · 07/07/2015 20:49

Dd is not a fan of solids!
She will happily play in bumbo and chomp on all her toys but if I put sticks of carrot/ avocado / mango she moves her hands and clamps her lips shut!! Starts to whine and seriously move her head away if I come at her with a spoon?
'Fun before one'
No point stressing ... Yet...
She's having her milk as normal
Might leave it for a few days and try again at the weekend ...
Hope everyone is enjoying the more moderate temperatures Smile

The babies are half a year old!!

Alyx80 · 07/07/2015 23:11

Q isn't that bothered either pesto, he's had a quick taste but seems to get bored very quickly! He was not impressed with his broccoli at all lol!

Had him weighed today and he's 20lb 10oz, definitely my biggest boy at this age! 6 months tomorrow, I can't believe it!

Pesto11 · 07/07/2015 23:56

Yep that's the face that dd makes if any food touches her lips!

Ouchie poor toe... Don't beat yourself up - You weren't to know. Hope it gets better soon and defo before your hols!

Dd is 'playing' more now and is making new sounds with her voice...it's as if she's calling me sometimes! Personality and character developing so much! Love it!

bigfam · 08/07/2015 04:32

Alyx my lo had blisters in her little toes from the jumperoo, I use a soft blanket under her feet now and no problems since, hope it's better soon.

The baby looks a little worse for wear, she got a really red chin from dribble and having just woken for a bottle, one of her eyes is ever so slightly puffy and swollen. Back to hospital for dd1 today who has her heart set on her cast coming off!

September60b · 08/07/2015 08:59

Dd isn't a fan of solids either! She does tolerate a couple of very small spoonfuls but then whines and turns around in her highchair to get away! I've been trying her with a different food each day and yoghurt seems to be going down the best so far. Dh needs to learn to embrace the mess though. He was going crazy with the wipes after each tiny mouthful!

I bought one of those food nets that you can put pieces of food into and she seems a bit more interested in that probably because she thinks it is a toy.

chiruri · 08/07/2015 09:03

Poor little toes! DH put DD in the jumperoo in just a vest a while ago so she got a little friction burn on her thigh Sad.
DD decided to sleep for 11 HOURS SOLID last night! It's sooo unlike her, so I was totally panicked. She's absolutely fine, and in excellent form this morning. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

Pesto11 · 08/07/2015 11:01

Snap chiruri
Dd had a 10min feed at 4 but otherwise slept for 11 hours!
I was panicked too!

sept I might get one of those food net things then if it encourages more eating or at least more interest...
My dh is the same 'where are the wipes, where's the tissue!'
He was doing my head in and I don't want him stressing the baby out with his OCD tendencies!

bigfam · 08/07/2015 17:31

Extra miserable baby here today, on a good note dd1 has had the back slab cast removed and is now in the lighter (colored) cast, she can weight bare as she has a boot so is walking now, she's at the school disco now and was practicing her dance moves all afternoon

Alyx80 · 08/07/2015 22:28

Good news bigfam!

Quade is 6 months old today! Had a bit of a wobble earlier about how quickly he's growing up, miss my tiny newborn a bit!

Pesto11 · 09/07/2015 13:28

Loving your iPad photos of Quade
I say that to myself every month... Yet don't do it!!
Hope you're feeling ok

LittlePink · 09/07/2015 20:11

The food nets are great but a pain to get clean. DS loves chomping away on it. So ive ditched the purees and gone baby led after all. I put a few different things on his tray today and he got stuck in and really enjoyed it. I spread one of the purees id originally made onto toast which made it all soggy and pretty yucky looking but he didn't care and gobbled it all up. Parsnip on toast yummy!

Alyx- Q is just lovely. Looks a little character! The blister looks sore. I had never considered this could happen with the jumperoo, will have to keep an eye on ds.

He is almost sitting now but not quite and I took my eye off him for one second yesterday and he toppled and scratched his face on a toy. That didn't go down very well at all and he was beside himself. Felt guilty telling dh I hadn't been watching him and he fell over. Taught me a lesson that he still cant be trusted to stay sitting up on his own.

We had him christened at the weekend. He was a little star and "behaved perfectly well" as my 8 yr old niece wrote in his book!

Alyx80 · 09/07/2015 21:42

Glad the Christening went well Littlepink! I've loved doing the ipad photos, it's been fab to look back and see how much he's changed!
He's actually taken much more of an interest in his food this past two days, I think he's finally got the idea and has been holding it quite well and having a good suck although I don't know what's actually gone in lol. He's tried and liked cucumber, tomato, pepper, baby sweetcorn, pear, pineapple, spanish omelette and crusty bread (and a chip! Blush). Still can't believe he's old enough to be eating food though.

His blister has popped and looks fine now, it's never happened before and I've used it with three of the boys so hopefully it was just a freak thing!

Alyx80 · 09/07/2015 21:45

Here he is trying cucumber, yoghurt and pineapple! I take too many photos lol.

It's so hit and miss with health visitors
I was told off for not starting weaning at 24 weeks and told to make sure I feed her every day regardless of terrible wind and tummy pains. Apparently dd will end up with speech delay issues of she's not fed ASAP!

Woman did my head in

The previous health visitor at an 'introduction to solids' chat said to wait till 6 months (26weeks)

Dd freaks out and doesn't actually eat any of what's on her tray. Clamps lips shut but is starting to play with the food which I'm fine with cz she was only 6 months this week and I don't want to stress her out. Explore have fun and slowly she will get there
She still has her milk
I'll continue to give her fruit and veg slices on her tray and see what happens
I know she's a stubborn thing

But telling me off really doesn't help! Grr

chiruri · 10/07/2015 10:23

Alyx, I gave DD a chip too Blush. She absolutely loved it!
Pesto, don't stress. She'll definitely get there! It's still very early days, so just let her explore herself Smile

September60b · 10/07/2015 14:12

Glad the christening went well Little!

I'm a bit worried too Pesto but I'm hoping that dd will just 'get it' the more I encourage her to eat. She quite likes the ritual of sitting in her highchair and having a bib put on. She sits and opens her mouth when I do this now like she knows what's coming! It's nice to have her sitting with me at the table now rather than me trying to eat one handed whilst carrying her around!

Dd's sleep has finally improved. She's waking twice for a feed but then wriggles out of my arms to be put down straight away. She likes to sleep on her side or tummy which freaked me out at first but I'm getting used to the idea!

bigfam · 10/07/2015 19:44

Love this beautiful little thing, even if she's been a complete horror today!!

So cute bigfam!

bigfam · 11/07/2015 02:26

Not sure what's up, but it took her a good hour to settle properly and that's unusual for her, she just kept suddenly waking with her bottom lip stuck out, screaming.

Ds1 had sports day today and won the egg and spoon race which is weird as he literally couldn't keep still when waiting for his turn, his teacher also called me aside the other day to let me know that in a test performed throughout his year group, he has shown signs of dyslexia and will need to work with a special needs teacher in year 1. It's not an actual diagnosis though but from what I understand it's quite hard to get an actual diagnosis until they're older, anyone know if that's right?
