Bean, my best friend and I refer to him as Father of the Year.... I wouldn't change dd one bit, but I bloody wish at times I'd picked a better bloke to have her with! I won't be the first or last to say that in the world. But plenty of plus points, and I am very much learning to kinda shrug him off except for the few hours he bothers being an actual, sort of dad to her.
It's a bit like Michael McIntrye said once 'think prick, say tut' helps greatly, and makes me smile, although it's normally far stronger than prick Wink

Dd has a blanket at the moment to sleep with, although checked her last night and she had a muslin, old baby towel and blanket on her.... Her cot bed is a bottomless pit of everything. I assume I had put said muslin and towel in her room to put away and she beat me to it!

Delightful cat brought a bird in this afternoon. Dd stood in the garden for the next five minutes telling anyone that walked past 'bird in bin' and then went up to the cat and said 'no more' the cat looked unimpressed.

I love seeing her develop so much, the wtf moments are pretty much out weighed --balanced out-– with proud smiles.

Awww cup Thanks hope the antibiotics kick in soon, always a bit of a catch with them isn't it, they help but can also make you feel pretty rough.
Fingers crossed it buggers off and you can feel better soon

SunnyL · 08/07/2015 19:28

Pink I've said what I think of your sperm donor. I'm known for my ability to swear so can provide suitable descriptions of him any time you ask.

Do your LOs have a favourite colour? My small child is becoming obsessed with purple. If at all possible her nappies (cloth nappies) should always be purple - green is the second choice.

She was most over joyed to see a purple car the other day.

No idea where its come from as aside from my aversion to pink there is definitely no colour preference in her wardrobe.

PeekABooPinky101 · 08/07/2015 19:35

Sunny you always make me giggle with your wonderful summaries of him. I do try to remember them while being polite!

Dd loves yellow at the moment. I'm surprised purple isn't featured higher as her Nanna is an everything purple lady. Good taste this sunny, purple and green are nice colours!

cuphat · 08/07/2015 20:59

Thanks pink.

DD likes purple and pink the best, though she also says green sometimes. She's happy with any colour though and just comments if she's asked.

BeanCalledPickle · 08/07/2015 21:11

She is reasonably ok with colours. She learnt with stacker cups we have in the bath. The green one has a zebra on it and her zebra, zizzi, is her best friend. Therefore green is always zizzi. So walking home is 'Red bus, yellow car, zizzi car!!'

BeanCalledPickle · 08/07/2015 21:13

Cup I also had a second bout. I had antibiotics down my throat within the hour. I asked them to prescribe me extra in case it came back which thankfully they were happy to do!

cuphat · 08/07/2015 21:22

What's her favourite, bean?

I was prescribed extra to keep in case it comes back too. Positive thinking from the GP! He said I'm clearly susceptible after looking at my history and also said that six weeks is the most important time for bf; I think that was meant to reassure me if I want to stop rather than tell me that he thinks it's time to give up!

HungryHorace · 10/07/2015 06:52

God, DD has decided that 5am is the best time to wake up this week, give or take a couple of days. This is Not A Good Thing.

I want my 7am riser back!

Help! I need serious help!

Going to a wedding next weekend and I completely forgot about the gift and of course all that is left on the John Lewis gift list are weird random things.

What are your failsafe wedding gifts?

And hungry I feel yoyr pain. Small child got into bed with me yesterday at 5.30 and proceeded to wiggle until I gave up pretending to be asleep

Mrs81 · 10/07/2015 07:34

Sympathies. And coffee. It's exhausting isn't it?

Whilst I enjoy the peace during naptimes, I can also see that once the transition to no naps has been made properly then it must be so much easier. Their little body clocks change so much in the first 2-3 years.

I've had my coffee so am more sympathetic to ds and his 5.30 start today

Mrs81 · 10/07/2015 07:36

Sunny, how much do you want to spend?

vouchers for a nice restaurant? A tree for the garden? I had a bowl made for some friends a few years ago at a local pottery and asked them to stamp the wedding date on the underside. Didn't cost the earth...

Raeside · 10/07/2015 07:51

Sunny - JL gift lists always have the option to get vouchers - people love a JL voucher I find!

BeanCalledPickle · 10/07/2015 08:06

Definitely vouchers. There is always the option on the gift list. And if there is stuff left then, even if weird, they wanted it enough to put it there. Saying that I once got to the list and all that was left was ink for the printer and I couldn't bring myself to buy that!

HungryHorace · 10/07/2015 08:09

Printer ink?!?! That is odd.

And I agree: vouchers. Sorted. :-)

Big one was also up early and has been packed off to nursery. Small one as per photo. Needs to get up. I have massive boobs and Sainsburys on the way.

BeanCalledPickle · 10/07/2015 08:14

Nothing says I love you more than crystal clear printing? We had a john Lewis list. I got pissed one night and added random stuff to it. Sean had a look and was 'why are there hideous medieval goblets on our wedding list? And the handbag I know you want?'

SunnyL · 10/07/2015 08:23

Thanks folks. Its made more complicated by the fact that the guy she's marrying is minted. Super minted in fact.

When she came to my wedding she got us a Gluggle jug. Its brilliant.
I love all my off-list gifts but I know some people hate them.

I used to get people membership to the Gourmet food club which gives you 25% off at tonnes of restaurants. Fuckers have put their prices up though.

BeanCalledPickle · 10/07/2015 08:26

I don't tend to go off list. Saying that I have often bought personalised ordinance survey maps. The context here is that we met through a walking group as did those at the majority of weddings we go to. You pick an area special to them and they get a personalised cover etc. it's a great gift if you are outdoorsy. If you aren't it's rubbish.

Sunbeam18 · 10/07/2015 14:13

I often get a picnic blanket or picnic basket if going off piste. JL vouchers are never a bad gift though

SunnyL · 10/07/2015 14:34

Would a Kilner jar set for making sloe gin be terrible? We gave someone a sloe gin set once and they genuinely loved it.

Otherwise the map thing could be good - wonder if France is covered by it?

SunnyL · 10/07/2015 15:13

Oh its ok Ive found the ultimate gift - a tartan rug from a lovely weaver in the Scottish borders.

Tis perfect for my friends even if it sounds deathly dull to others. She loves Scotland and goes horse racing (to watch) most weekends. Hurrah!

BeanCalledPickle · 10/07/2015 16:16

Why is it I have no problem with john Lewis vouchers but a cheque or cash for exactly the same amount feels crass???

Raeside · 10/07/2015 18:19

We said in our wedding stuff that we'd lived in sin for far too long to need anything and please don't feel that gifts were necessary BUT if your souls would be tormented by year's of guilt then we had a honeymoon fund for a trip to the U.S. Bout half gave some cash, from £20-£200 per donation. Was amazing....

Mrs81 · 11/07/2015 07:13

We were similar Rae...been together for 5 years before we got married. but in reality people still wanted to give us something to mark the marriage. So we were collectively bought a greenhouse, and were given other bits and bobs.

To be honest, the generosity of others blew our minds a tiny bit!
