Our babies are rocking and rolling, crawling and climbing into the second half of their first year.

Let the fun continue...

KitKat definitely go back to the purée jars , the most important thing is that they eat!

For the first time ever E didn't put on weight last weigh in, the HV was worried me not so much but I need to get him reweighed just to see if he has gained anything!

He is beginning to get clapping he does a weird little clap its so cute but its only recent, waving we have had none!

TeamEponine · 30/06/2015 15:33

Cancel all that! DD is poorly, AGAIN Sad Nursery called this morning so I picked her up early. High temperature and she's spent most of the day dozing on me. Not feeling quite so celebratory now.

Kitkat, I'm not too sure really, but I'd say just go with whatever she will eat, then try to cram as much of that in her as you can. Has she made a big motor developmental leap recently? That could also explain it as she may suddenly be burning more calories?

jaykay34 · 30/06/2015 20:51

No clapping or waving here either. J loves it when we clap and laughs his head off but just doesn't copy us ! And waving just gets a smile too.

He has a toy that makes animal noises and he has started to imitate them, especially the dog barking.

Do any of you have a biter ? J has started biting and it bloody hurts. He even leaves teeth marks ! We do tell him "no" if we see him going for the lunge, and he will stop himself, but sometimes he does it too quickly. I'm not really sure what to do as he's so young Sad .

cookielove · 30/06/2015 21:31

E bites my toes which I find hilarious and painful, I do laugh which of course encourages him more but his giggle is so cute! bad mum when he really hurts and a say ow he looks all offended and crawls off crying!

Not much you can do when they are this young, if he were at nursery they would just say no and remove him from the situation!

Acorncat · 01/07/2015 13:29

Mines also a biter. Luckily he can't seem to get a grip on anything flabby so it's just fingers that he can actually get. He has 8 teeth so it's a proper grip. I tried as an experiment to let him bite my finger thinking that he wouldn't actually bite hard, but he really did and I couldn't get him to let go. Lesson learnt! I just don't let his mouth near any flesh.

TeamEponine · 01/07/2015 14:36

How is everyone coping in this weather?! DD is in just a nappy, but clearly struggling a bit. Inside is cooler, so we are just flaking out with some toys in front of the TV and trying to drink plenty of water!

FATEdestiny · 01/07/2015 14:59

I have a bath full of off-cold water that I leave all day. DD has a quick 5 minute bath several times a day to keep her cool. This morning I didn't dry her, just let her play naked until she was dry. Then just a nappy. She's had 3 mini-baths today so far.

She slept with me last night, too hot for anything really. She feel off the bed. One minute we were both fast asleep, the next she was on the floor screaming Sad I feel terrible about it.

Lunchtime nap today she's nappy only in the 1 tog sleeping bag with the fan right by her cot (but out of reach) on full blast. I think the white noise from the fan helps as much as the air movement. She's been asleep for 3 hours!

E is not doing well, he is in a vest! He has had two little naps and I am trying to get him down again but I don't think he will so a grumpy sticky baby not good!

TeamEponine · 01/07/2015 15:38

Oh, oh, oh. Just read a great tip, and it works! The fan in DDs room is just moving warm air around. But... Putting ice blocks or a bowl of ice cubes in front of it cools the air that it being blown Grin I also just learned that you should keep blinds closed to keep rooms cool. How stupid am I?!

Fate, how is DD? Try not to feel too bad. Falls from bed/couch/chair will happen to all of us. Flowers

Acorncat · 01/07/2015 19:28

It's probably cooler up here, but still too warm. His room is 25 just now, he's just in a vest and shorts - hoping that's ok. He's had rubbish naps so is grumpy. And he got up at 5 this morning...it's been a long day! I tried to play outside but of course he's determined to crawl over the decking and stones and eat the various bits of mud etc rather than play with his toys on the rug. it's suppose to be cooler tomorrow.

ApplesTheHare · 01/07/2015 19:46

30 degrees in DD's room this eve and we're up north do I feel for all those with babies down south! I'm a big fan of the hot weather but DD is irritable, fed up and doesn't know what to do with herself. It's not been an easy week.

I'm going away to see family without DH for the next few weeks and although it seemed like a good idea at the time I'm now dreading doing all the baby stuff alone for that long. Really hoping the family pitch in!

TeamEponine · 01/07/2015 20:02

36 in our garden, 32 DDs room. Took ages to get her to sleep. Not good.

cookielove · 01/07/2015 20:25

31 in E's room he is not happy but is asleep :)

FATEdestiny · 01/07/2015 20:54

31 in DDs room this evening, hotter than this afternoon (when it was 29 deg). She's gone to sleep OK though.

DD seems perfectly OK after her fall from the bed.

I keep all the curtains/blinds closed in the whole house when its this hot.

I will be sooooooo pleased when the weather breaks tomorrow. I've had enough now.

It is far too hot. 31 in DD's room. I've put her to bed in just a vest and left the fan on (though don't think it does too much, and have no ice for the magic fan trick!), hoping that's ok. Don't know what to do when it's this hot! She's clearly been very hot today and sweaty when up from naps but I don't think she is too bothered by it. I tried to give her a cool bath this eve but she cried because it was too cold and I had to put more warm in!

ApplesTheHare · 01/07/2015 23:16

FATE glad your DD's OK for falling out of bed. I'm sure it happens to everyone.

Team Ooof even as someone who loves the heat that just sounds too hot!

ApplesTheHare · 02/07/2015 09:06

Is anyone else suspicious of silence these days? Here it either means DD's been sick and is smearing it around the floor or she's got hold of some contraband, e.g. dog food.

The holy grail is being sick on contraband! Confused Grin

lilone1234 · 02/07/2015 10:34

haha Apples, same here! Bloody dog food, I think they are in it together!

ApplesTheHare · 02/07/2015 14:53

Haha lil why is it so appealing?? DD also likes kissing the dog. She pulls a face to ask him to lick hers. It's so gross!!!

Apples - Haha! My dog is still a bit scared of DD so no face licking yet! The dog lead has gone in her mouth though as she grabs it from her pram while we're walking!

Ella - Deffo sounds like you have a chatterbox there!

holls2000 · 02/07/2015 20:31

hi all apologies for silence, that working lark takes up too much time!! have caught up i think. 8 teeth? We have a tooth through but not fully and another one poking through. b is loving nursery and they are great with him. being back at work has been great, i have enjoyed being a grown up!! b is doing a lot of waking up at 5am which is painful. any ideas?!

cookielove · 02/07/2015 20:41

E has his first settle in session on Monday, I know he will be fine but I don't want to be away from him. He will be in my room so I am being booted out for the time being!

apples I don't worry about the silence (he doesn't know how to be quiet) I worry when I hear him crawling towards the Juliet balcony with a toy in his hand, he has managed to drop three toys so far, he almost dropped his socks and the door stop but I stopped those going over. I wouldn't mind too much but our next door neighbours car is down there and he could do loads of damage!

E keeps letting go of things when he stands, he then panics and holds back on!

ApplesTheHare · 02/07/2015 22:16

Hey holls really glad you're enjoying being back at work. It's really nice to hear as going back is playing on my mind. I am looking forward to being an adult again. And lunch breaks! On the sleep front, how have his naps been at nursery? Could a change in daytime routine be affecting him?

Cookie I bet your balcony is irresistible. Let's hope you don't end up with a bill for the neighbour's car any time soon. DD can stand for about 30 to 60 seconds... I've been wondering what do they have to do to be counted as able to stand independently?

Nazly · 02/07/2015 23:27

Ds has logged me out of MN and i could not remember my login details!!!
Kitkat she is so gorgeous, that picture is so cute... I want a little girl too!!!!!

How is every one today? Weather is a bit better...

Team that's what I learnt about sleep recently as I reported here; whereas previously no nap or short naps would mean terrible over tiredness and not a good sleep at night, now it is the other way around, long naps and not enough gap between night and day naps doesn't help...

Apples I guess its like sitting... Everybody counts a different thing as sitting independently , I took as as when he sits for as long as he wants without falling !

Holls glad you are enjoying work. I am actually enjoying it more too, but I still think I could do with having more time with ds not less time...
