It's that time again. This thread is going to explode with squishy babies. Which is nice.

plonky I think you hit the nail on the head. I think for us ds doesn't like texture. I have been worried about ds development in that he doesn't like change, won't eat solids, doesn't like to touch different textures, doesn't like to be messy (nursery say he won't engage in messy play),he gets totally overwhelmed in social situations. It could be that he is still young but I am worried. At work a CAMHS worker described a child's characteristics that indicated he was on the spectrum and I related it to ds (although there was an age difference between the children). I cried all the way home from work.

Oh plonky I am glad you changed your name back. To us you will always be plonky.

eco my lovely. I can't imagine How difficult it must have been to sell dd's home where she was born. You deserve an eclair or two.

stormy could you get a second third opinion on dd's tongue tie?

Big day today Wotta. Hope they love it as much as I do

Stormy, how did she sail in her new bed?

Went to bed. I came downstairs. Minute or two later I heard jumping. Went up and did the channelling-Grandma thing (my grandma commanded obedience with nothing but a scary Look). She complained for a couple of minutes that she needed to play, then went to sleep. And proceeded to wake up and call for a drink every two or three hours throughout the night. Credit where it's due, she was still in bed every time. Got herself up at about six and played with her jigsaws until my back decided to co-operate and let me get out of bed.

yummychocolate · 01/08/2015 10:42

stormy that sounds like a successful night. It could've been a lot worse.

Hope the viewing goes well wotta.

something how are you finding working full time?

The sun is shining in London AND it's the weekend. Have a good one ladies.

StormyBrid · 01/08/2015 10:58

I was expecting a lot worse too! Still, there's always tonight.

Well, it's official: I'm enormous. Stepped on the scales for the first time in months today. I'm still half a stone below my heaviest ever known weight, and I'm still three pounds lighter than I was in labour, but it's baaaaad. So I have just made "Stormy's super-duper HEALTHY chart" and stuck it up next to "Fartypants's really GOOD chart". I can earn a star a day by not bingeing on crap, and another by getting off my arse and doing some proper exercise. If anyone wants to shout anything vaguely motivating at me, please do!

WottaMess · 01/08/2015 11:38

Austerity approved motivational message: Be Motivated! Grin

Best of luck Stormy. I'm struggling with trying to lose weight at the moment too. Holiday week undid a lot of good work Hmm. Still trying to take it steady.

Btw I too thought any was referring to Christilass' Ds Wink. Glad you got away lightly and long may it continue. Dh and I had a funny (odd rather than haha) chat about it last night - he thought just as I was going to bed was a good time to bring it up and then got huffy when I said I thought we'd need to reorganise ds's room before making any changes and I didn't want to get into the details just then Confused. Timing!

Fx for today. I'll let you know later...

StormyBrid · 01/08/2015 12:22

Okay, I have earned my first star. Did 5k on my exercise bike, then collapsed in a heap. "Woohoo!" said Fartypants. "Well done, Mummy!" So I did some weights and evil stomach crunches too. And we got through the whole thing, talking throughout, without a single reference to size. Just health. Quite pleased with myself for that.

What rearrangement is needed, Wotta? Ours was mainly getting my brother and his drill round to accrue some man-points by screwing everything to the walls. And he put a stairgate on her door for me too. She's only got the one electrical socket in there and it's behind the drawers so no worries there. Blind cord is high up out of reach anyway. And she's been told in no uncertain terms that her bed is not for jumping on (because one of the slats is damaged thanks to eldest niece jumping on it). If she wants to jump on a bed I have a king-sized one she can have a go on.

Plonkysaurus · 01/08/2015 14:19

Stormy am now picturing everything of FP's attached to the walls. Pants, zebras, books, all holey but secure.

Ugh no not health drives. I'm feeling every bit at the end of the second trimester. The sides of my arse ache like they're going to fall off, and I just want custard with everything. I can't tell if my feet are swollen or if I've turned into homer Simpson.

Wotta can I uncross myself yet? Hope it was a good un.

yummy didn't mean to suggest that all eating issues = autism, but it's interesting you say you recognise some traits. I think if mil had someone gently say everything about her ds's behaviour as a tot that she has said to me, she'd be relieved. Hope that makes sense!

We've shipped ds off to grandma's for the night so we can sort the spare room, ready for ds to go into. DH has gone to the tip. It's just me and the cat and Bungle burrowing into my ribs, and it's too peaceful. I'm having a trip down memory lane going through all ds's toys. We officially have All The Fucking Dinosaurs.

StormyBrid · 01/08/2015 14:58

You're exempt from feeling remotely like you should be on a health drive, Plonk. You're pregnant, you should be lounging. With cake. I on the other hand currently weigh nearly eighteen stone. Something has to give (before my spine and hips do).

We've just added a Triceratops to the collection. Why does my phone not think any dinosaurs are real words? And the charity shop provided yet another toy car for FP's rapidly growing collection. It's pink with black stripes. I hope her tastes change a bit before she's big enough for a real car.

StormyBrid · 01/08/2015 16:56

Getting stressed with the DVD player, which doesn't want to admit it has a CD in it. Muttering at it under my breath. "Why won't you work, you useless piece of aaargh?"

"It's playing silly buggers, Mummy," says FP.

WottaMess · 02/08/2015 09:39

Ds does a good line in 'oh GOD' which is probably my fault stormy Blush

StormyBrid · 02/08/2015 09:49

I know a bloke who once said, "Oh my god!" when confronted with a particularly grim nappy. For months afterwards, every nappy change his son said, "Oh my god!" Grin

Second night in the big girl bed went well. Went straight to sleep and stayed in bed until morning, aside from the three times she fell out.

Plonkysaurus · 02/08/2015 11:18

I'll never forget the jokey fight I had with dh, during which he called me a prick. Fight was ended by ds looking up at me and quietly saying "pwick".

StormyBrid · 02/08/2015 11:38

That reminds me, "pwick" shouted from the back seat was the kick up the arse BIL needed to get his road rage under control!

worserevived · 02/08/2015 15:22

We do fine line in 'oh my go.....sh' here, but I fear it is too late. She still remembers the d Grin. Not as funny as the 'Oh crikey' she regularly comes out with. It sounds terribly Enid Blyton. Started life as 'Oh christ'.

On the fussy eating front, the advice the HV gave a friend was just give them what they will eat, with a few extras on the table, and allow them to serve themselves if they want something else. I don't usually hold much store by what HVs say, but that advice sounds quite sensible. It's just a phase. Worselet was the very last baby on here to eat solids, and for months ate only fish pie, quinoa crackers (I know....!), and toast. Now she eats literally everything, without comment, and incredibly neatly. I swear DH make more mess. They all do things in their own way at their own pace, but get there in the end.

Stormy big girl beds are the best. A side bar is a good investment though. We definitely got more sleep when Worselet could no longer roll out.

Fitness drive sounds great. Good for you! Never easy to start something new.

Plonky I'm fairly sure you can't have turned into Homer Simpson... although without a photo it is hard to be sure Grin. Second trimester, in summer, with a two year old in tow is going to be hard though. Courage !

Not much happening here other than I'm slobbing at home while DH braves a National Trust place with the dcs. Periods get so much worse after having a dc.... and so much so much worse after having another. They never used to bother me at all before. Ah well. Not long to the menopause Grin

StormyBrid · 02/08/2015 16:31

I keep saying things like gosh and crikey and oh my sainted aunt, in the hope that DD will pick them up. Nothing so far. But we did have a little chat about naughty words that we don't say at nursery, after she told the man that his laptop was playing silly buggers.

For one glorious moment this morning I thought I'd lost a good couple of stone overnight. Then I realised that a pellet of cat litter under one corner is enough to throw the reading out by thirty pounds. Damn!

StormyBrid · 03/08/2015 11:19

Happy Monday everyone! It's a sunny one here, and my oldest schoolfriend is coming to see me today. What's everyone else up to?

Fartypants had her first typing lesson last night, on the man's laptop. He filmed her typing her own name. As you all could probably guess from my occasional feminist rantings, DD has my surname. Not the man's, and so not FIL's. And so, of course, FIL just had to comment, saying that's not how his surname is spelled. Aaaargh! Angry

WottaMess · 05/08/2015 07:18

Hello...?

Hope all well and toddlesome had a good night's kip?

Always hard to know how Saturday's viewing went, but we have two more this weekShock. Change of agent seems to have had some effect... Fx for interest soon.

Plonkysaurus · 05/08/2015 09:30

Fingers crossed Wotta, hope it's not too long now.

Had a funny one here yesterday. Nursery rang, as I was driving to fetch the tinker, to tell me he had a temp and was not himself. So off I take a very hot, very upset little boy, ask him what's wrong and give some calpol. Two hours later he's fine, bombing around the house, eating all his dinner and demanding a bowlful of custard for pud. Slept all night and right as rain today. What on earth?

Speaking of pudding: does a bowlful of custard warrant a special Crap Parenting award? He can't get enough of the stuff. Mainly because I don't offer it often. But custard is bloody delicious.

We're also moving to a big bed this weekend. Hope it sorts out the bed hopping that's been going on lately. Also means I'll be able to start sorting out things for the next arrival.

Hope everyone's well. Work has dried up a bit lately so the wean is off to nursery and I have TWO days to myself. Ahhhh.

SomethingBeginningWith · 05/08/2015 09:35

Good luck with the big bed in new room plonk last night was the first night of new everything for DS. And it was fine. Until 2:50. And then it was not fine. He must have woken up not knowing where he was and just didn't want to sleep. After an hour and a half of DP and I taking in turns to try and coax him back off, I went in with him just after 5am and we fell asleep together.

Not ideal. I don't know if he's ready for a big bed. He's showing no signs of needing to leave the cot but DP is adamant that he should so it's really hard. I'll see which bed he wants tonight and take it from there. But I'm very tired today so I anticipate lots of coffee.

Crossing fingers for you wotta

And those of you on weight losing kicks, I'm joining you. Tried my wedding dress on yesterday and it only just does up. So I have to lose a couple of inches. And DP is currently making brownies ahead of new Bake Off tonight. I could cry!! Sad

Plonkysaurus · 05/08/2015 09:51

I'm so looking forward to GBBO tonight. But the bloody cheek of showing it when so many of us are watching what we eat. Humbug!

We've had a few nights in a row of DS wanting to come in with us very early (1.30 last night). He's had the side off the cot for awhile now, and is very capable of rocking up at my bedside with a pathetic sounding "mummy...don't want DS' bed. Want Mummy's bed". Coaxing him is just not working and resulted in similar lost sleep on Monday night. I can't wait for the big bed so I can get in it with him, or at least pop him in our bed and I'll get in his! Two adults plus toddler plus bump is not my ideal night's sleep.

I really want to see your dress! I bet you look stunning in it. And hey, remember you're going to have some rather, erm, bumpy looking bridesmaids!

StormyBrid · 05/08/2015 12:39

We're doing surprisingly well with the big girl bed, but I suspect this is in large part because Fartypants knows that once she's gone to bed I will not look favourably on any dicking about. Last night I heard her get out of bed briefly, and in the morning it was clear she'd only got out to have a drink, and then got back into bed. Long may this last!

So custard. It's got eggs in, right? Eggs are good for you. And you could always throw some banana in there and then it's a legit healthy pud cos it's one of your five a week, innit?

rainbowtoddle · 05/08/2015 16:03

There are some great healthy custard recipes online made with just egg, milk and banana which are great protein full but sugar free options for custard loving little ones!

SomethingBeginningWith · 05/08/2015 17:22

Tbf, I don't look favourably on any dicking around either but it seems that DS is a different toddler and would rather have me cuddling him while he's starting to move into his big bed.

Hopefully today has tired him out enough that he'll just fall asleep at bedtime and that'll be that (not holding my breath)

plonk I may have the odd bumpy bridesmaid but at least their dresses will fit Wink and I think custard is totally acceptable. I'd have it for pudding myself!

I've just done DS's dinner and have plonked him in front of Monsters University while I think about closing my eyes...
