Hi ladies, here is a thread to get us started. The support of other 'Maysters' has been so valuable, would hate to miss out on this once babies arrive. I have a feeling we are still going to have lots of questions and experiences to share! Smile

P.S. mini, sorry you're finding the recovery so slow and difficult, but please be kind to yourself - you had a horrendous experience! Are you still being seen at home by the midwives or are you under the HVs now, and have they been checking your wound? Can you ring anyone for advice on how you should be healing up? I had an emcs but a much more straightforward one so my recovery has been easier. I do hope you start to feel more comfortable soon.

minimooo · 04/06/2015 22:37

Thanks piglet. I'm under the hvs now and they say my wound looks absolutely fine. I think I'm just starting to get a bit impatient and frustrated, especially as the weather is so nice and I can't really get out and about.
Anyway, I should stop wallowing now Blush There's plenty of other people out there who have it worse and I'm really grateful to have come out of the experience almost intact and with a beautiful baby.

Birth story for anyone interested!

Came in for induction at 8am and on examination they discovered baby's head had disengaged again so I had to go on to a ward and be induced as an in-patient, first pessary was inserted at 10.45am then monitored for an hour, had some lunch then went for a walk with dh, after 10mins of walking I felt lots of pressure and was becoming increasingly uncomfortable so went back to ward where contractions started at 2.30pm they ramped up in pain and frequency very quickly and I was thinking Jesus this fucking hurts! So got on birthing ball for an hour or so then went to have a wee and had a show so I knew things were happening... After another hour or so of being in immense pain I asked the midwife to examine me and she discovered I was 4cm with bulging membranes and contractions every 3mins so was whisked straight onto labour ward where I had some huge pains and asked for pethedine but before they could get it to me my waters went and when midwife examined me I was fully dilated and her head could be seen, she was out in 4 pushes no stitches or tears which I was impressed about considering she is such a chunk! I'm bleeding a fair bit now but apart from that feeling good... Excuse the spelling errors I'm tired and hyper all at once!

Hope everyone else is going ok?

Scottishgal78 · 06/06/2015 08:30

Wow chook two pushes and no tear? Awesome! She is beautiful!

Chookford · 06/06/2015 08:33

Thank you scottish

purplebiro · 06/06/2015 16:17

Sorry all for the lack of response - thought I was watching the thread but evidently not :)

Re: party tonight...am going to play it by ear right to the last minute - starts at half seven so am going to give M a big feed now and have a nap while she chills with DP and then attempt to get ready from 6.00pm and make a decision at 7.00pm if we want to go or not - if not I shall be all glamorous for the pizza we will order as a compensation treat! If we do go I think we will taxi there and back and I will make sure I have an unstealable chair to station myself on for the evening and DP well briefed to keep me fed and (WINE!) watered :)

Loving reading all the birth stories. How is everyone holding up with stitches? I had a 2nd degree tear in the canal and a tear on one labia. Wasn't too bad when I was on the antenatal ward but 24 hours of getting home it was just AWFUL - so sore and painful I ended up in antenatal triage checking it wasn't infected. It wasn't, just crazy swollen - midwife was out yesterday for 5 day check and she said I was still very swollen, probably more than expected but not to be concerned about - easy for her to say!!!

KittyVonCatsington · 06/06/2015 17:50

Lovely birth story Chook!!

I think that sounds the best plan for tonight purple.
I had an episiotomy and the stiches have really been painful-to the point I have been shuffling everywhere! Milk and lavender oil baths helped plus the painkillers. At 30 days pp, they are getting better Grin

minimooo · 06/06/2015 22:55

Sounds like a plan purple. Hope you're having a good time, whether it's party or pizza.

Sorry I can't help with the stitches question because I had a cs. Sounds painful, hope they get better soon. Have you got painkillers to take? I did hear about these pads you can buy off amazon which have some natural herbal infusion on them - you stick them in the freezer before you wear them. They're supposed to be very soothing, although not tried them myself!

Emmie has been full of smiles today. She's been awake a lot so I'm knackered now, but it's been totally worth it for all the smiles! Grin

Sunshinesaz86 · 06/06/2015 23:04

Congrats chook well done on your speedy labour and no stitches!

purple I had episiotomy also still sore and umcomfy got out and about yesterday but really struggled last night afterwards dunno if it was a little soon at 17 days post birth. But hopefully by end of this week they'll be a bit better again. I remeber at 5 days tho also being very swollen still hopefully it'll ease up for u soon.
