Our last pregnancy thread above.

Thank you ladies for all your support over those worrying, exciting, mind numbing, vommitty, sleepless days and nights. It has been a pleasure.

Now onto motherhood :D

Hi everyone! Great to see you on the other side. My little boy is 3 weeks tomorrow and has put on 400g in 6 days!! Healthy appetite! And I still have to express some to help keep things comfortable!! I had mastitus tho and just finished 10 days on antibiotics so I can't risk them getting to full again!

DH is on holiday next two weeks so might start using some of the expressed milk so he can feed and I can sleep!!

StuntNun · 02/04/2015 10:02

Definitely don't Ellizardo, the midwife pulled off DS1's cord and there was loads of blood and pus, he cried like a banshee, and he even now has a huge belly button. I could have killed the woman for doing that to a ten-day-old baby. I'm sure she only did it so she could pass me over to Health Visitor care.

m33r · 02/04/2015 12:51

eliz and blue I also don't get more than 30mins through the night

I have such a fussy baby today. I have been prescribed colief so stopped using the infacol but think it made him regress. Now using both alternately but not sure if I need to let both build up or what...?? Help!

Finding it really hard - just asi had accepted I'd just sit on sofa with baby asleep on my chest, he decides to fuss and needs rocked, picked up, winded, sung to etc etc. I need cake Cake

M1985V · 02/04/2015 17:53

Facebook blocked me from the Facebook group so sadly I didn't get to know anyone very well or speak to anyone for long but just wanted to say hope all the mums and babies are doing well.

Our DD3 Scarlett Esme arrived on the 30th after a horrendous labour (though very fast, 51mins!!) worst labour of all 3! But over now and she's perfect!

StuntNun · 02/04/2015 19:23

How do you get on the Facebook group please?

Gudgyx · 02/04/2015 23:02

If u want to pm me your fb email address stunt I can add you to it?

My section scar hasn't been sore for a while but it's gotten really sore again yesterday and today. I think I'm doing too much with bending over putting washing on, tidying up, picking Lucia up etc need to take easier a bit more.

I've been blessed with a very easy baby. At night she'll have her last bottle about 11/11.30, then she'll be up once through the night for a bottle, doesn't cry though, just kind of gurgles away, then that's her til morning. But there's no filling her through the day! She's on 5oz bottles every 3 hours, water in between most of them, and still seems hungry! Weighs 9lb 6oz now, birth weight was 8lb 4oz 4 weeks ago.

Stump fell off naturally this morning! He's an outie for sure!

Blue03 · 03/04/2015 11:02

M33r i wish i had an answer for u. How have things been since u last posted? Im going to express next time I feed Jess simultaneously (will feel like a cow bit it worked well with DS), so that DH can feed her in the night. I need more than 2 hours sleep in a row, and lately even that's pushing it.

Scarlett Esme is a lovely name, sorry to hear u had a bad time getting her out. She must have been keen to be a March baby having made u wait all this time.

Lets all remember that we have earned a rest, and it's only right that we indulge in chocolate this weekend- isn't that what Jesus would have wanted? Smile

Wow grudgy and the one thank you so much for not sharing this before babies were born, you BRAVE ladies!! We were very very nearly a cs, baby's heart rate was bonkers throughout, midwives and doctors disagreeing with each other, then after pushing for a while we got one chance with forceps in theatre before cs and luckily out she came. I was terrified about having a section and so relieved when she came out!!

Gudgyx · 03/04/2015 12:24

Well lavender as bad as it was I'd still do it all over again, and I will. Although my crohns consultant asked me yesterday to have another colonoscopy, not under GA, and I refused as I can't have another op awake just yet lol.

Good news though, my Crohn's disease is almost in complete remission :) I should be able to get my stitches out in the next few months, but will have to stay on my injections forever as they are working so well. Small price to pay for being so well considering how ill I was!

blue things the same - no sleep! I've taken LO off the colief. He's started being very sick after every feed and it's also very difficult to administer (need to express a little into sterilised container then add drops then give it to him on a spoon. If you are out the house or it's the middle of the night this is no joke!). It's back to infavol...

Anyone else really struggling with BF? I feel it's constant. I have no idea how much he gets; how long is 'normal' for him to be on. I'm sick of leaking breasts and dh not being able to feed... Just s bit frustrated and confused by it all. Anyone else?

StuntNun · 03/04/2015 21:49

M33r it will settle down. Usually by six weeks bf is well established and going smoothly. It is undoubtedly a lot of work at the start but soooo much easier later on.

m33r · 03/04/2015 21:55

I hope so stunt. No idea if what I'm doing is right.

What's the view on dummies? My MW friend recommended i try one but I'm not sure...??

StuntNun · 03/04/2015 22:38

My DS1 and DS3 both seemed to have a need to suck beyond that satisfied by breastfeeding and greatly benefitted from a dummy. DS2 wasn't interested in a dummy. I'm just going with the flow this time. So far DS4 seems content without a dummy.

Blue03 · 03/04/2015 23:44

Jess occasionally likes her dummy. A trick I was taught, which does actually work, is to tap on the dummy to mimic your own heart beat. You can stop the tapping after 30 seconds or so. This can also be done by dad giving a bottle of expressed milk, as it naturally calms LO down if that is what they're used to. Tap rhythmically throughout the feed.

Im going to buy infacol tomorrow as she is crying in the evenings and within minutes of being placed in the moses basket she is screaming. Cue me sitting up in bed with her snoozing on my chest, and eventually end up feeding her in the wee hours before I can finally get some shut eye.

Hoping that she takes the bottle in the middle of the night from DH. Glad the pump still works after being in the loft for 18 months. I expressed whilst feeding simultaneously. Shove me in a shed and call me Daisy!

M27J5M · 04/04/2015 11:17

M1985V the fb page blocked you?? It shouldn't do that!! Send me your email again and I'll try and re add you! Fb has taken me off loadsa pages that i no longer go onto etc but it shouldn't do it with a group!! Crappy fb

theonewiththenoisychild · 04/04/2015 16:19

blue yes ive used the dummy tapping trick too. elijah wasnt keen on a dummy at first but had taken to it now Smile if hes anything like ds he will have given it up by his first birthday

m33r · 04/04/2015 17:12

So stupid question: when do you give your babies a dummy? When they're upset? After a feed (transition off breast)? Bedtime only? Sorry for the stupid question!

I was thinking to transition off breast at bedtime / night time feeds??

theonewiththenoisychild · 04/04/2015 17:58

m33r i give elijah his dummy to settle him down for a sleep. otherwise he sucks his blanket or his fist i feel if he doesnt have a dummy he will be a thumb sucker and you can take away a dummy but you cant take away their thumb

fishfingerSarnies · 05/04/2015 04:43

Just marking my place, will read thread at next feed and catch up with all your lovely baby news.

m33r · 05/04/2015 19:50

Hmph! LO not interested in dummy. Was hoping it'd be a magic wand!! Sad

lavender20 · 05/04/2015 22:19

A dummy has helped my girl to settle, she usually spits it out when she's asleep, but then bloody facebook spoilt it as I saw someone posted on bump and baby hub that a dummy had come apart in a childs mouth. Freaked the hell out of me, so my poor windy refluxy baby had to cope without one today as we tried to decide what was best. Annoys me as use of a dummy is said to help prevent SIDS so feel I dont know what to do for the best.

lavender20 · 05/04/2015 22:24

Ps blue that sounds like us, baby is now prefering to sleep on me as she is do windy and spits up when laid flat.

Gudgyx · 05/04/2015 22:52

I saw that too lavender, seems to be only those straight orthodontic ones it happens with, Lucia has one of the tomee tipee pink ones with the round rubber teat and it seems fine! It's 6-12 months so quite big, don't think she could swallow it if she tried! She wouldn't take to the smaller ones at all.

My little boy came on the 19th after 36 hours and at the time it was pretty bad I remember thinking but actually I can't remember now. I love him more than the world, I get what they say when they say it's a forgettable pain even though it was a emcs after all that time. He s just haveing a little burp now on my shoulder xxxx
