Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

thanks jen. Off to the surgery now. "Hopefully" he'll have another nasty nappy during his check so that the third GP can see it.

I'm feeling good today as I've realised I'm definitely off the PND wagon this time. OH asked me on Sunday why I didn't want to go out and wanted me to assure him that it wasn't because I was getting depressed or something (bless him) and at that point I realised that I was actually feeling great! :) Such a nice feeling after 3.5 years of PND with DD.
I hope you all have a lovely day and a positive attitude! Grin

Addictedtocustardcreams · 21/04/2015 19:16

DS has first imms today. In the last hour he has started intermittently screaming a really distressed pain cry.
Given him some calpol so hopeful that will kick in soon, but has anyone else's LO been like this?

Memphisbelly · 21/04/2015 20:47

Tweety this is fantastic about the pnd, I had it for quite a while with ds1 and was dreading thought of getting it again. Its so weird I feel like this time has got rid of any final bits of doubt I had and I seem to have a clearer head!

Addicted, try a dose of calpol as you have, LO did this a bit for an hour or 2 after his like he was remembering his ordeal but was fine later that day.

So today Lo as had 50% drop in his feeds I needed to book in with hv to get him weighed anyway so called them and she was very concerned about drop in feeds then asked how much he had, looked at her notes and realised he hasn't had extra feeds or upped feeds (apart from the odd cluster feed day) since he was 6 weeks so she is a little worried, he has got a bit chunkier but is still in 0-3 with no sign of going up a size so I am all worried and to top it off his one testical that had dropped has now popped out and won't go back down so we are their first thing tomorrow to see her.

MrsCorr · 21/04/2015 21:54

My LO had his jags yesterday & he was like that last night. He had a high temperature as well so we stripped him off & gave him calpol. He fell asleep after about an hour & slept normally. Seemed ok today, a wee bit fussier than normal but nowhere near as bad as last night. It's such a worry because they can't tell you what's wrong!

freneticfox · 21/04/2015 23:09

Tweety that's wonderful! Must be such a confidence boost to be moving away from PND.

I'm definitely improving in terms of mood, but my anxiety seems to peak quite a lot. It's not getting worse, but it's not improving either. Doesn't help that we're moving house in June and the impending 'sort out' is playing on my mind.

Hope everyone has a good night!

tweety89 · 21/04/2015 23:24

GP finally saw my point (yeahie! :)) and believes that lo might be lactose intolerant (hence the nasty and very frequent dirty nappies, the fact that he's eating a lot more, etc.) so he prescribed the lactose free formula. Let's hope it makes a difference quickly.
addicted my lo had them today too and he has been very unsettled, however, I'm not sure whether it's because of the jabs or his nappy rash. Let's hope they sleep well tonight.

Addictedtocustardcreams · 22/04/2015 06:57

he settled after lots of calpol feeding and cuddles then put in a 4 hour stint, longest he has ever done overnight! Don't know if it was the jabs or just one of those things but feeling pretty good this morning. He is a bit fussy though now but DD did just wake him up by sitting on him which I think is enough to make anyone cranky!

Grinningcat · 22/04/2015 08:34

Thank you for all your good wishes. Dad came out of hospital yesterday and is very happy to be out of there.

Ds's reflux got a bit better, but then yesterday went back to how it had been. I think that as he has felt better he has started to take more of his feeds again and therefore the lower dose of gaviscon is no longer as effective. Going to ask for a gp telephone appt later to ask if I can go to the higher dose and get a repeat prescription. Hoping to avoid an actual visit to the docs if I don't need to go.

Is anyone having their LO wake for nappy changes only at night? I'm wondering if this is all DS needs at night atm. For the last week he has only taken 2 and 3 oz respectively at night and I was wondering if he was starting to cut didn't and drink more during the day. Last night he had 4 oz at 10pm then woke at 1.30am for a nappy change and he took 2oz, bug I had to push the second. When he woke at 4am he was crying but once is his nappy was changed he was happy. He sucked a couple of times at the bottle and then fell asleep and didn't wake until 7am. Tonight we are going to try just changing his nappy and then seeing if he will go to sleep without feeding. Anyone else had this!

tweety89 · 22/04/2015 14:14

Thanks memphis. I do think it's easier to get PND with the first child as it's such a shock to one's system.
And such a worry with your lo's feeds and testicle. I hope the HV has helped you today.
frenetic thanks. I take one day at a time and think about the present. I would suggest you tried this, otherwise your anxiety levels will peak way before June and it wouldn't be good for you (or your lo).
addicted lo had a feed around midnight and after that only woke up at 4.30 for another feed, so I had a nice sleep between 1.30am and 7.40am (OH does one feed in between), but I think it was a one off because of the jabs.

tweety89 · 22/04/2015 14:15

grinning great that your dad is out of the hospital FlowersFlowers

Memphisbelly · 22/04/2015 16:10

Frenetic could you do one drawer/box a day/every other day from now so it is less stress and worry as it approaches?

Went to the hv and LO is 13 weeks tomorrow and weighs 13 pounds. He has gone from 75th centile to 25th centile but she seemed happy enough with him she said on paper it doesn't look great but the fact he is hsppy, smiley, chatty and bright eyed she isn't concerned yet and will go back for a re weigh in 3 weeks.

She said she thinks he just doesn't need much milk to sustain him and is happy with just a few ounces. She also looked and felt his mouth and she said although it is early on teething can happen early and when I said where tooth was she said again it is unusual but not unheard of that it isn't the bottom two first, she had a feel and said its on the move and it could pop or just settle down and not move again for a while yet.

freneticfox · 22/04/2015 16:17

That's a good idea Memphis. Need to now source some boxes...

Having an ok day, though still having issues trying to get LO to do longer than 30 seconds of tummy time. I have a HV coming on Monday and slightly worried she'll say he's a bit behind in development - he only holds his head up unaided for a few seconds at a time.

Memphisbelly · 22/04/2015 16:25

Frenetic Lo is a week older than yours and goes on his tummy every day Ialso spend a lot of time half lying down with him on my chest (classed as tummy time) and he doesn't lift his head at all....hv today isn't concerned at all.

tweety89 · 23/04/2015 01:07

memphis really good news that HV isn't concerned.

A bit of a late dreamfeed. LO seems to be ok(ish) with the lactose-free horribly smelly formula and TMI his poo has already better. Let's see how he gets on tomorrow with a full day of this formula.
Tomorrow he's got his blood tests to see how his anaemia is going. So many issues, yet such a content baby in comparison to DD.

GeekyHybrid · 23/04/2015 01:17

Evening tweety, just finished propping him up following our first night / dream feed. Hope you get to bed soon too. And fingers crossed it keeps them going to morning Hmm

GeekyHybrid · 23/04/2015 01:21

frenetic I wouldn't worry too much about the tummy time. Some babies just don't like it and most hv's are well aware of this.

Mimosa1 · 23/04/2015 03:10

Frenetic, my LO hated tummy time and wouldn't lift her head and I was getting concerned then just like that,
2 days ago. She started lifting her head (one one side, tbh) and cue no tears on tummy time. She still doesn't love it , but I think you just have to wait till their neck muscles are stronger. Does he hold his head up when he's on your shoulder? We practice that instead of tummy time as it uses the same muscles and she seems to mind it a lot less.

Grinningcat · 23/04/2015 09:07

Well fingers crossed we might be able to drop one if the night feeds. He woke at 2 for 2 oz, but didn't wake at 4.30. I did however as he was thrashing about in his sleep, but at least I was only awake for 30 mins rather than a full hour.

Went to our first stay and play group yesterday? He was the youngest by a month and most were 5 months plus, but it was nice for me to go and he did like staring at one particular boy. He definitely had the most hair of all the children though! Grin

tweety89 · 23/04/2015 12:24

Oh grinning, I'm so jealous! LO doesn't have any hair at all and DD started having some hair after her 1st birthday. Because of her cradlle cap though she didn't really have a lot until her 3rd birthday. She still has craddle cap and she 4.5...

tweety89 · 23/04/2015 12:33

The Registrar from paeds saw LO today and he was very happy with his colour and development. Didn't discharge him, however, he was very reassuring that his anaemia is not a permanent thing, showed me all the previous blood tests, explained to me what level of anaemia LO has, etc.. He will have his blood test in a couple of weeks time and hopefully in about 8-10 weeks someone from his team will see him and he will be discharged. Very relieved.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 23/04/2015 14:35

Want a rant - sorry in advance.

The hospital are being total wankers. Despite GP and asking for her paediatrician appointment to be within a week - they have refused and are going to make her wait a month for her appointment. The GP who did the urgent referral, is the only decent one for young children at my gp practice and is now on holiday so I can't get him to push it again. HV is trying to make an urgent referral too - see if they'll listen when its multiple health professionals saying it needs to be now, not in a bloody month.

Her weight has now dropped 4 centiles - thats a very large proportion of the chart. Her spit ups, wind, contantly flaring up rash, gunky eyes that when her rash flares also go really puffy and permenantly bloked nose are getting worse. I worry that she may be reacting to my meds but am stuck bf as she reacts so horrendously to formula. She needs a damn paediatrician. Now!

I want to comfort eat a choccy bar but can't because it'll make DD sick up lots more and get even more wind.

GeekyHybrid · 23/04/2015 20:21

whyo it sounds like the hospital are being total wankers. And it's quite alright to rant, shit I'd be ranting in your situation. You're trying to do what's best for your child, who you know better than anyone and they're being obstructive. I do hope you get somewhere soon, and absolute downer not being able to comfort eat.Biscuit Thanks

grinning I'm also jealous about the hair. We have fair wispy bits and his head gets more colour from the cradle cap!

My turn for a rant. could someone please explain the logic of my mother?! She asked how things with LO were going. I said we were trying to introduce a bedtime routine to which she said "ooh isn't he a bit young for that". I explained that it wasn't about strict times but more a sequence of events to encourage him to go down / to sleep. She then said "you want to leave him to cry, he's got you at his beck and call" Confused Grrr.

thingsarelookingup · 23/04/2015 22:38

So many of us are having a rough couple of days. I'm on my phone and my memory clearly fell out at the birth but I hope everyone's issues with Drs and food and sleep and nappy rash sort themselves out soon. Dd has been a Velcro baby today so I really didn't get as much done as I needed to.

freneticfox · 24/04/2015 10:00

WhyO I don't blame you for ranting, that's really shitty of them. I hope they sit up and pay attention soon; keep on it with your HV.

Having a crisis of confidence today for no other reason than I was daft and read up on what other babies at this age are doing... and realising that LO seems to be behind on almost everything. HV is here on Monday so will bring up a small tome of worries with her...
