Glad you got a referal hope they send a letter quickly.

Speaking to my mum tonight I was allergic to everything when born within a week my skin was raw from head to foot and my eyes were swollen, changed washing powder/soaps and mum stopped wearing scented lotion and the eyes went down but skin remained raw, I had to be wrapped like a mummy every few days at docs, everytime my nappy was changed it took skin off. I was put on goats milk products. 32 years ago the only way of getting goat stuff was to find a goat farm so mum made weekly drive to get it Shock i grew out of it at a year old.

So LO has been smiley all day....would he smile for me? Would he heck.

tweety89 · 09/04/2015 22:01

whyo I was going to suggest to try the goat's milk formula but memphis mentioned it already. As DD is very allergic to all nuts and egg (two anaphylactic shocks one at 10 months and another one at 18), we're prepared for the worst now and we've already bought Nannycare in case we need it. Saying that now Hmm just realised that today LO's eyes were all puffy and red Hmm And didn't even get the chance to go out today. I don't open the windows a lot atm as some neighbours have been renovating and there is a lot of dust from drilling, etc. I'll check him again tomorrow.
I hope the paediatrician refers you to an allergiologist soon.
memphis it's amazing that you grew out of it at 12 months! I've heard a similar story, however the 'baby' is now 6 and is still going around like a mummy...Probably the goat's milk did the trick (?)

Hoping for a relatively easy night tonight..

Memphisbelly · 09/04/2015 22:11

Tweety the dermatologist had never seen such a severe case in a baby so young in his career, mum reckons its because I was on such a restricted diet, even when weaned I was only allowed 4 things that weren't goat products then from 12 months mum added one item a week to diet.
You wouldn't be allowed to give a newborn goat milk that is untreated straight from goat nowadays would you Grin....Waitrose sell the goat formula here now.

tiredvommachine · 10/04/2015 00:43

Come on Ewan you furry Bastard, work!

GeekyHybrid · 10/04/2015 01:29

tired hope the sheep, and you, won!
I've made an elementary mistake. Probably cos I was still half asleep when we got up to feed. But I want to pee! Hopefully LO will finish soon. Legs crossed Wink

tiredvommachine · 10/04/2015 03:29

Lo had been out of sorts all day today so don't think the sheep getting the best reception.
Been up every two hours so far, ugh.
geeky I needed to go toilet so went after nappy change and before the feed.
Oh, it was as if I'd dumped him outside when I gently laid him in his cot to quickly pee. Gah!

LancashireTea · 10/04/2015 03:39

Now I need a pee reading this
Hopefully she will finish massacring my nipplefeeding soon so I can go.

LancashireTea · 10/04/2015 03:55

Woo managed it. And even managed to get back into bed without waking either of them.
And now I'm awake...
Good news for us. She's had a growth spurt and her legs are now too long for the newborn baby grows! Her body has a little catching up to do but her legs are so long! I might measure them with tape tomorrow!

whyo it's awful that you have to go through all that rigmarole with the doctor.
Tired is your lo having a growth spurt perhaps?

GeekyHybrid · 10/04/2015 06:44

Slightly depressed this morning. Whilst he has been better sleeping on his back since the ranitidine, we've just had an hour long episode of the writhing, grunting and straining noises Confused I did pick him up half way through, had him upright on my shoulder and all was peaceful so I put him back down and it started again. I'm scared now that the ranitidine isn't working etc My logical head says it's only 2 days in, give it chance but Hmm Right, enough worrying already. Hope other people's nights got better. Biscuit Brew

blankfornames · 10/04/2015 08:30

Sorry tired but Im laughing at your furry name calling!! Grin

My friend had a mmc and is having a d&c this morning. Can you think of an appropriate gift I can give to her as Im seeing her later?

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 10/04/2015 08:37

I am seriously pissed off.

I had the night from hell with horrendous pain in pelvis, back and down my legs. Despite taking all my painkillers. Barely slept, as every time I moved pain woke me. Finally fell into a bit of a better sleep at 5am, only to wake at 7covered on blood! I'm ebf for gods sake, why the hell do I have to get a bloody period this early. Plus I'm assuming its the hormones from that that made my pain levels shoot through the roof. So I'm very tired, in lots of pain and have a period to deal with. Oh and I've got to take LO for vaccinations later. I'm not happyAngry

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 10/04/2015 08:53

Sorry for the rant.

Blank cross post. your poor friend. Mmc are horrific, can't think of a gift, just be there for her.

Has anyone heard from frenetic? I don't think she's posted since Easter when she said she was having a bad time with PND. I hope she's OK.

tweety anaphylactic shock must have been so terrible for you and lo.

Memphis my brother was like that, but suffered with all milks and there wasn't really other alternatives back in 79. He was 2when he out grew it. Nightmare for my poor mom - he was her first too which I think made it harder.

Geeky I've made that mistake before. Also on the ranitidine front - it obviously has helped but if its not working fully you might need the dose upping (I'm assuming GP will have started lo on the lowest dose for his weight). Also as he grows it'll need upping, as dosage is weight dependant too.

GeekyHybrid · 10/04/2015 08:54

Thanks Thanks Thanks why that does sound like a crap night. I hope as the hormones settle so does the pain. Good luck with jabs later.

LO has only 'snacked' for breakfast and then gone back to sleep so my boobs still feel quite 'heavy' and I know this means he's not getting the hind milk. Darn uncooperative child Hmm

GeekyHybrid · 10/04/2015 09:22

Method to get child fast asleep on your shoulder to finish their breakfast: Attempt to put down for 5 minutes to go to the toilet /make cuppa tea / do some dishes (delete / add as appropriate! )

LancashireTea · 10/04/2015 09:53

Whyo I had mine last week and I'm Ebf too. Lo was only 5 weeks old godammit! I'm definitely having a coil back in.
Frenetic has been on the fb so I think she is ok.
Blank maybe take her for afternoon tea or buy her some nice bubble bath type things so she could have a nice calming and relaxing soak? And a massive hug.

donkir · 10/04/2015 10:01

Whyo Frenetic has been on the fb group most days. Think most of us find it quicker and easier on there.

I think some nice bath things also for your friend.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 10/04/2015 13:18

Glad she's been on facebook. I don't have an account, so don't see any of that stuff.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 10/04/2015 13:38

Lancs - its rubbish isn't it. Last time I was told it was my fault it returned at 8weeks because DS had a bottle at the end of his cluster feed. Obviously not. It must just be that my body thinks periods should start 8weeks postpartum regardless of feeding.

LancashireTea · 10/04/2015 17:10

Lovely day here!
Have been mega productive around the flat, madam has had some good naps and even had a visit from a workmate. If only every say went this well!
Plus lo is quickly growing put of anything that needs legroom. She's finally out of newborn clothes and into 0-3 month leggings and baby grows! Success!

Memphisbelly · 10/04/2015 19:54

Been a lovely day here, in garden for most of it, my friend fell ill while here so was dashing about packing up her changing bags for her two kiddies then her dh picked them up.
Lo has slept a lot today and been fussy when awake. It is friday! Dh is doing all feeds tonight. Work tomorrow for me then Sunday we are going to Bicester, I have been promised Raybans and a Michael Kors watch Grin

freneticfox · 10/04/2015 19:56

I'm utterly rubbish at keeping up with more than one thing at the moment, it's like my brain can't physically follow more than a couple of things. I missed an optician app just because I'm useless...

WhyO - I also keep forgetting you're not on Facebook.. Brainfart. I'm sorry you're still suffering :( I've had some weird sharp pains in my pubic bone area when I've done a bit of walking, it feels oddly familiar so I'm trying not to overdo things.

Blank - agree with Lancs, maybe take her for a bite to eat, perhaps she'd welcome the chance to have a chat?

Still having up and down days. I've still not 'publicly' said anything about PND, so I feel a bit like I must be consistent in seeming happy. It's tiring. On the plus side though LO is doing a lot of grinning and cooing at the moment and it makes my heart skip.

Also, vaccines went well. Was actually hoping it'd give him loose bowels to help with his chronic constipation -_-

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 10/04/2015 23:47

Frenetic Forgetting things and getting times mixed up is normal after a baby - or i think it is anyway. I only remember things if they are in my phone calender and a notification reminds me. Plus I technically missed DD's vaccinations this morning. Somehow I'd put the time down in my phone as 10:35, I ended up 10mins late because she did a dirty nappy just as I was going out of the door. Then when I got there they said appointment was actually at 9:35. Whoops. They still gave her the jabs though.

PND is hard. I really struggled with it first time. But you will come through it. Just keep trying to focus on the good and forget the bad - harder done than said. Grinning and cooing are wonderful - just you wait until he starts laughing too.

tweety89 · 10/04/2015 23:48

So last night lo finally decided to do an 11.15pm, 4.30am and 7.45am 'shift' (woohoo!!). The 4.30 wasn't mine, so it was such a great feeling sleeping between midnight and 7.30! Grin

If anyone is exclusively bottlefeeding (or expressing), can you please let me know how many ounces you are giving to your lo's daily? LO reached about 36 ounces a day for a week, but since yesterday he's back to about 31. Should I be worried or does it seem ok? He's 7 weeks old and I believe he's had a growth spurt last week.

tweety89 · 10/04/2015 23:58

whyo the anaphylactic shocks were indeed terrible and very scary, so I hope we don't get to have the same problem with LO too
lancashire you must be so excited! Well done LO!
Btw, I cannot believe you guys got your period. With DD I was ebf, got it 5 months later and thought it was early..

frenetic just try and focus on the good as whyo says. I don't really remember most of DD's milestones (thank God for the videos and pics) so now I don't want to miss anything. It might be worth mentioning it to you HV or GP; they might be able to give you some sort of guidance.
