I'm not really sure what to do about it to be honest, she sleeps so well at night once she does go down but everyone elses babies go down earlier, she went Down at 10 last night and woke up at 7:15, I don't want to wreck that!! Lol

havent re calpol, before Saturday he'd only had one other dose of calpol (he is 4 months).Fri, Sat and Sun he only had 2 doses on an evening of we thought he needed it but th cough just wasn't shifting. He'd had the cough and cold since Wednesday night by this point. Monday we had an indoor day and I gave him 4 doses over the day and saw a big improvement. He only had 3 doses yesterday and hopefully will only need 2 or 1 tomorrow.

I know what you mean about not giving him it at night so you rely on it. However, DS is a very good sleeper and it is very rare that he doesn't go straight to sleep in his crib (after falling asleep on me during a feed) and it's so unlike him to fuss at night that I've realised now when he does it that he is in pain.

pink Hello! I lurked for ages before joining too. Getting involved is much better I recon!

green DS was napping at 6 last night but it didn't effect his sleep at night. Been going to bed with him earlier (7:30 to 8) last 2 weeks. BIL and his GF came over last night so tried leaving him in our room to sleep for the first time. First attempt failed and he was back down with us at 8:45 but by 9:20 he was asleep and stayed that way until 3:30! Hopefully we can now get out evenings back. Although I love my bed so quite liked the early night! Next step is the cot in his own room! Where is my newborn!

Annarose2014 · 01/04/2015 11:48

DS slept through last night, from his 11pm bottle till 5.30 when he sang merrily for half an hour.

I was so surprised I didn't get a wink of sleep! In fairness he didn't sleep quietly and was threatening to wake numerous times so in a way it was just as much hard work if he'd woken as I seemed to be resettling him just as much. So I only got 2 hrs sleep after DH took him downstairs at 6.

Still! It seems he really doesn't need feeding at night! DH said even at 6, whilst he drank 4 oz he wasn't gobbling it in starvation or anything.

I wonder what changed? Is it that I'vebeen feeding him without taking him out of the he crib? Or that I've been fairly stingy about milk after the11pm feed? Or (most likely) is it sweet fuck all to do with me entirely???

catg83 · 01/04/2015 12:06

ark DS usually goes to sleep for the night about 9.30/10 and usually stays asleep until about 4. Then feed and down till about 8. I am going to try moving it 15 mins earlier every couple of nights as I would like some time to myself but at the moment I can't complain about 6 hours solid sleep!

Sitting in the skoda garage waiting for our MOT to be finished. DS woke at 8 and hasn't slept since. now starting to be a grizzling PITA. Hurry up mechanics!

TwigletFiend · 01/04/2015 13:14

Can I ask how everyone is managing their shopping?! DP away (again) and I need a supermarket shop. How do I manage her and a trolley?! Could try carrier but a bit nervous about getting her in it in my own in the car park. Eek!

Greenstone · 01/04/2015 13:47

Tesco delivery!
Or put her in the pram and stow your shopping under it.

Annarose2014 · 01/04/2015 13:54

I put him in the bottom of a big trolley in the car seat. Works well actually as he can see everything and you can chat to him.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 01/04/2015 14:03

Twiglet most shops have a trolley with a bracket on for car seat or a lay back baby seat.

Sleepwise we r back to 3-4 Times a night between 7+7! We do have a bedtime though which is good.

Think teething here

Going to wean in couple weeks baby nabbed my banana and had good suck on it the other day!

Thisisimpossible · 01/04/2015 14:05

Twiglet Ditto Anna re dumping the car seat in a trolley. Big ones are best as you can't get much round the car seat in a shallow one. But shallow ones fine if you're only doing a quick shop. Last resort is pushing the pushchair with one hand and dragging a basket on wheels with the other! And your DP is a very lucky man! I hope he realises Grin

DS's sleeping is slowly improving, although like Anna he woke at 6 this morning and spent the next 45 minutes chatting and singing to himself I feel like a bad mother for leaving him whilst I grabbed a few more minutes sleep He wasn't starving hungry at all when I picked him up to feed him despite his last feed being at 3am. Just full of smiles which is lovely. I am really hoping that the grumpy unsettled phase has finally passed.

Strawberryfield12 · 01/04/2015 15:09

twiglet Internet shopping of the supermarket of your choice for big shop and small shop: DD in the pram and basket on top of carry cot. Buying online almost everything, so bad that Yodel man even says hello and small talks me if sees around the town. I should buy shares in yodel!

Strawberryfield12 · 01/04/2015 15:13

ark who cares she is awake before 10pm if she sleeps like a grownup! I have noticed that if we put her to sleep properly at 9pm, she wakes up 2 times more often than if she naps downstairs and then we put her down after 10pm. So I'd rather she stays up with us and doesn't wake every hour.

ladydolly · 01/04/2015 15:46

Yeah I wouldn't mess with it ark, it works for you. Babydolly moved her bedtime to 7 herself and had 2 wake ups, when she went to bed at 10 or later it would be only 1 wake up.

Of course all this was before sleep regression. 5 weeks of it so far. To top it off she's got a cold and can't breathe. Last night she slept 7-10 1-4 and 6.30-7.30. The rest of time we were awake. I got 4 hours but that seems easier than 6 hours made up of 45 minute naps.

Although I have eaten 2 slices of choc chip cookie dough cheesecake.

re: shopping I put dd in the carrier, she always falls asleep after 10 mins, it only slows me down because people want to look at her adorable sleeping face. A quick shop I keep her in the pram and use a bag for life instead of a basket which are so bulky and hard to carry.

Arkkorox · 01/04/2015 16:08

Okay I'm sold, I won't mess with it!

I bought myself one of those colouring books for grown ups to try and curb my anxiety when dp is at his mums. It's brilliant! However I have done NOTHING since it arrived but I did colour in some very pretty birds Grin

DD is napping for England today, since one she been awake for the grand total of 20 mins to down a bottle!

Annarose2014 · 01/04/2015 16:23

Ooh I've been very tempted by those adult colouring books too. But I don't know when I'd have the time to do it and I'd just get stressed at how little I was getting to unstress! Grin

.....Still want to get one though. Which one have you? I heard some have thin paper so want to def get one with nice thick paper.

Arkkorox · 01/04/2015 16:33

I got the Dream catcher tree of life one. It's really good. However I don't recommend it if you ever want to do anything productive in your life ever again....

The paper is nice and thick though! Lol

I saw those on the news today. Maybe I could finally learn to colour in between the lines. It was never a forté of mine!

Annarose2014 · 01/04/2015 16:45

DH just put a spanner in the works by remarking that I couldn't do that and watch telly at the same time. And I'm someone who needs my telly, lol. and my wine

He recommends I buy a cross stitching set instead as I'll be able to watch The Good Wife and cross stitch at the same time. Not a bad idea......hmmmm.......decisions decisions......

Arkkorox · 01/04/2015 16:46

I've just sent dp a picture of my colouring in and got a Hmm face back Grin

He also told me I could have a gold star for getting it all in the lines a part of me thinks he's taking the piss perhaps

TwigletFiend · 01/04/2015 16:49

Thanks ladies! Suddenly occurred to me that the only shopping I've done since she arrived is online or when I have had someone with me Blush

I am shocked to say that DD is almost crawling. She can push herself up onto hands and knees but only hold it for a couple of seconds so far thank God She's pretty good at pull/pushing herself up and down in her tummy too. DP keeps referring to her as our little carpet slug Hmm

omama · 01/04/2015 17:16

Twiglet I tried the trolleys with the rack on for the car seat - but beware once its on you have no idea who/what's infront of you & its near impossible to actually get any shopping in the trolley!!!

And wow crawling!!!! Is she rolling already? DD is trying to roll but not managed it yet.

Ark - last week I got Enchanted Forest by Johanna Basford for my niece's birthday & its so lovely I got one for me too! Havent starting colouring it yet as need to unearth my nice pencils first - but secretly looking forward to it! Didnt realise there were other adult ones around so I'll be checking that one out. Do you use pens or pencils?

DD is plodding on ok. She sleeps her long stretch in the evening, which is good for her but means we still have 2 night feeds. So I am generally getting sleep in 3-4hour stretches. DS gave us longer nights much sooner than DD is - am longing for the day where I get an uninterrupted 6 hours or so!

TwigletFiend · 01/04/2015 17:33

Yes, rolling around like a pig in mud 'shit' would be more appropriate. She goes right across the room without a pause sometimes, hilarious! Grin

Evening!

We're getting back in the swing of things after our southern adventure. Sleep is still shit here both day and night. Also got him weighed yesterday and he's crossed 2 lines so not such a huge thing any more. I was a bit worried yesterday but nappies are certainly fine and he seems very happy so will just carry on. The lovely midwife at the breastfeeding group put my mind at rest today. Must stop getting him weighed!

For those of you that missed it this is my new username. Was amy83firsttimer

Annarose2014 · 01/04/2015 19:06

Mine is 20 weeks and still not close to doing anything other than grunting ineffectively on his belly. And he can't roll over either, he can go onto his side happily but doesn't seem to twig there's another bit to it!

I have to admit that I haven't been encouraging it as much as I should have. He's safer when he's static!
