Thisis how on earth did you manage to put the nappy in the wash!

Calpol meant she was only up for an hour rather than 2 and fell asleep herself. That in turn means I got 3 hours unbroken sleep which is the longest I've had in weeks.

Now I'm treating myself to using her first nap to watch Girls in my PJ's.

MrsAukerman · 25/03/2015 09:38

Slightly better nights here the last 2-3 anyway. Back to 2 wake ups which thanks to the cot co-sleeper arrangement are mercifully short. Packing to go down south today and thinking it's a good job that I'm not taking the pram or we'd have run out of space!

Annarose2014 · 25/03/2015 11:08

Hello all, am tentitively dipping my toes back in normality - or something like it - after the funeral is thankfully over. I'm OK. May stay on the tablets for another month just to be sure, but we have to get our jabs this week so I'll ask the doctor what he advises. I think about Dad all the time, but no nightmares or anything. More wistful than anything.

Anyway, thanks again for all the support. Smile

With all the tumult of the last few weeks we hadn't noticed that DS has quietly been growing and growing and growing! He's busting out of his 3-6 month clothes and is hugely active now. So busy! He wants to grab everything and put everything into his mouth and is becoming OBSESSED with watching people eat and trying to grab their food. He's getting bloody hungry too.

We're starting to realised that he won't wait till 6 months to wean. We've earmarked the end of April but he may not last that long!

He's also getting bored with his playmat and wants to be sitting up all the time which is tedious as we've no Bumbo or anything. We have to pop him in the pram at the table when we eat. Its all a bit challenging!

Annarose2014 · 25/03/2015 11:13

Huge synmoathies to those whose DPs are being crap by the way. If DH didn't take DS every morning at 6am I'd have lost my sanity. There's no tablets in the world that compares to those two hours sleep!

But seriously, getting up at 6 isn't the end of the world for a guy, surely? In my last job I had to get up at 6 for the commute anyway - its doable. Whats the big deal?

I suspect that people don't want to change their bedtime accordingly so moan about being tired. DH has changed his bedtime to 9.30pm at the latest. We DVR all the good telly and watch it earlier so we don't miss out. But a 9.30 bedtime aint for everyone! (He's an old fart, lol)

TwigletFiend · 25/03/2015 11:47

Glad you're doing ok Anna and your DH is such a star. The growing thing sneaks up on you, DD is so tiny around the middle but insanely long - growing into her 3-6 month leg bits at a rate of knots but all the top halves are swamping her! Leggings and tops it is!

Am pretty wiped out this morning after 4 wake ups during the night (including the DP induced one) and struggling to get going. Was hoping DP would take DD so I could go and ride my horse without having to worry about leaving her in her pram by the arena but he buggered off this morning to visit PIL and isn't back yet, so guessing that she's coming with me. After two weeks of single parenting I have to admit I'm finding his unhelpfulness hard to swallow! Not helped by me being a cranky bitch this morning.

Sorry, rant over Blush

Strawberryfield12 · 25/03/2015 14:45

I think I am starting to have 4 months regression myself not the baby. She woke up at 4.30 for food and in 10 minutes had eaten and fully asleep, but for hours was doing odd sleep sounds, which kept me awake. Then she filled her nappy at 6am while still asleep, so it was the smell which kept me awake. At 7am she woke up and went on talking, changed her nappy but she would not keep quiet anyway. I guess not THAT tired anymore that nonsense like that can keep me awake, but annoying anyway.

That's really crap to behave like that after 2 weeks holiday away! Needs a big kick in a backside (looking for my boxer gloves!). DH asked about possibly going away for weekend for friends stag do, I could not help myself to point out I will go away for a weekend on my own as well then. Hmm I better get organise something cool then!

Anna good to hear you start to get back to normal.

Arkkorox · 25/03/2015 15:14

Don't even get me started on DP, Sunday I was on the verge of calling it a day with him. Thankfully he seems to have heard my point this time and has been much better so far

DD woke up at 3am for the first time in ages, that was a shock to the system. Feeling surprisingly ok though despite it. DP started moaning to me how tired he was cause he slept at his mums last night then quickly backtracked when he realised who he was moaning at lol

Dd has just gone down for a nap, the kitchen is a bomb site and I have people here for dinner, yet I can't seem to get off the sofa....

Something unheard of happened today: dd napped for 2.5 hrs! !! And even better, I was only pushing the pram for the first hour! As she was still asleep when we got home, I left her in the garden and put my feet up in the conservatory!
We have another "grower" here: 16 weeks and 4 days and weighed in at 17lbs today. ..at least it reassures me that the BF is still going strong. .

haventgotaclue1 · 25/03/2015 18:46

Quick question for those of you going through the sleep regression phase....we're having such difficulty in getting DD to sleep in cot bed at the moment that she's ending up sleeping in our bed. She sleeps in her sleeping bag, on top of the duvet and nowhere near the pillow. I sleep in the recovery position to prevent me rolling onto her. Today the HV gave me all the SIDS stuff....now I feel terrible....but how else do you do it - if you do have your DC in bed with you at all???

MrsAukerman · 25/03/2015 19:11

We have cot shoved up against bed.
When we're in the same bed I wear a hoodie and have the duvet only over my legs. Baby should be on a firm mattress not a duvet. Otherwise the same though.

haventgotaclue1 · 25/03/2015 19:38

Thanks MrsAukerman will do the mattress thing rather than the duvet

ladydolly · 25/03/2015 19:38

Its only me and dd, she's between me and the wall. Duvet only on my side. I've never rolled near her or found the duvet up near her. She also sleeps on a reflux pillow.

NICE are about to change their guidelines to advise safe cosleeping so don't let her scare you too much.

haventgotaclue1 · 25/03/2015 20:08

Thanks Ladydolly - have just been reading the following website www.isisonline.org.uk (Infant Sleep Information Service) and it gives a much more balanced view re sleeping in same bed as DC as opposed to the HV view of "you should never do it
Am feeling much happier about it now!

ladydolly · 25/03/2015 21:21

I'm pleased haven't. The nhs need to take sensible approach of educating how to do it safely rather than saying 'don't do it'. I've been lucky, I've been honest with all my hv's and midwives and they all gave me advice rather than a telling off. The only time they told me not to do it was my 1st night in hospital and I did it anyway.

Ladies at my baby group who have babies born in Sept/Oct said this sleep regression eased up right around the 5 month mark. Even at a month away that gives me hope!

moggle · 26/03/2015 08:28

Woke up every hour with DD last night. Fed her just the once though. The other times were just stirring or dummy falling out but I'm sleeping so lightly I wake up with every little thing. Can't believe she used to sleep through the night!!
Think it might be time to get her in her own room now. I think we're just waking each other up now. Even getting DH to do a night and I sleep in the spare room doesn't work as she won't really take a bottle in the night so the wakeful times last for hours. Just don't know whether to bother with putting her in her room now as we have a holiday booked in April where she'll be in with us anyway...

Sorry everyone's going through similar sleep awfulness! These babies eh, who'd have 'em!?!

ladydolly · 26/03/2015 08:36

Every hour here too, then every half hour from about 4. I should have given her calpol again...

My eyeballs hurt.

Arkkorox · 26/03/2015 08:51

Bit better night here ( sorry) but dd managed to scratch down the side of her face :( it's huge and we're going to mums work today so she can show off her granddaughter to all her jealous friends Grin

Can you put concealer on a 4 month old? ( joking of course!!! seriously considering it )

God those orange Simply Dry Pampers are shit. DH bought them by mistake and he's been wet through several times since. We never have any leaks with the green Baby Dry ones, even with the Green Neocate Poos From Hell. They're bloody amazing. They should use them as flood barriers.

What nappies are you all using?

Arkkorox · 26/03/2015 17:44

Sainsburys litte ones! Only ever had a handful of leaks when she was between sizes!

ladydolly · 26/03/2015 17:56

Aldi all the way here!

TwigletFiend · 26/03/2015 18:11

Tesco during the day, Pampers Baby Dry at night. And yes, they hold an amazing amount of wee! Shock

Floopledoop · 26/03/2015 18:20

Pampers baby dry at night and if my mum has been to Costco then we use them during the day too, otherwise Aldi during the day. The baby dry are amazing, never had any leaks.

omama · 26/03/2015 19:16

We use pampers baby dry here too!

DD had her jabs on tuesday & the last 2 nights she's wanted feeding at 11pm (hasnt done for weeks) then again at 3am & inbetween times woke up so many times I lost count. Finally gave in at 5am & put her in bed with me. Not sure if this is after effects of her jabs or if she is starting the 4 month regression. Whatever it is it can do one!!!

Strawberryfield12 · 26/03/2015 19:34

Pampers baby dry and Tesco baby dry. I'd say we have less leaks with Tesco. Maybe we don't put them on properly? Most of the leaks are around the legs.

Annarose2014 · 26/03/2015 20:39

We have the shit orange ones on tonight as its all thats in the house. Cross your fingers he's not soaked tonight!
