sex whats that? I agree that bed is for sleeping in at the moment Ive only had a handful of nights where Sophie-jane has slept through. My dp calls dd age 3 mobile condom and as for having lots of teenagers who dont go to sleep until late we have given up mind you I can be doing too badly says she with 7 kids

olivhohoho · 24/11/2006 16:48

nearly a year since any of the naughty stuff here and still not in the same bed!!

am i the only one whose lo hasnt slept through yet? people i meet seem to expect that she does -she's only 12 1/2 weeks, its not unusual is it?

eenysugarplumfairy · 24/11/2006 17:05

BHM I will ask Sal to try to post the piccies for you today or tomorrow, will email you about it!

We have TRIED to have sex twice since Alex was born. The first time he started crying before things took off and the second time I was just NOT in the mood in fact my bits were pretty numb sorry if TMI. Anyway... I hope the sex life comes back soon! Maybe for Christmas!

Pink I am so sorry you havent heard yet about the job that is such a PITA!!!!!! Let us know as soon as you hear!

PinkTinsel · 24/11/2006 18:44

olivo, don't worry about it at all, 12 weeks would be unusually early to be sleeping through ( at those of you who's babies do!) caleb still wakes at somewhere between 12 am and 4.30 am and comes into bed with us (after that i'm never sure how often he wakes!). and i'm not worried at all. dd never slept through the night til we did sleep training at 1 year.

eenysugarplumfairy · 24/11/2006 18:57

Pink what is sleep training?

olivhohoho · 24/11/2006 19:10

pink - thats what dd does, usually 2 or 3 then goes through till 7ish.
at other (usually childless) people making me paranoid!

sarahSILVERbells · 24/11/2006 19:52

Olivo - every baby is different. Jack didn't sleep through for ages, whereas Molly has been doing it since around 6 weeks old. I used to bring Jack into bed with us, but haven't done that with Molly - she stays in her cot. Also, I think it makes a difference if you're bottle feeding as they tend to get a lot more from the bottle in one go than from the breast. Molly takes a 7oz feed before I put her to bed around 9.30pm and doesn't usually wake until around 7.30am.

olivhohoho · 24/11/2006 20:37

thanks for the reassurance sarah. was wondering how much other babies take - i give dd ebm at 10ish, 4 to 5 oz but she only goes 4 hours max on that. will maybe try upping the amount. i darent put her in bed with me.

but tonight dh is giving her the 2 am bottle and i'm sleeping in the spare room. having a couple of glasses of wine since i wont have to feed for a good few hours!!

reidie · 24/11/2006 20:40

hello all! i am relatively new to MN. have been posting a couple of weeks and didnt realise this thread existed! i had a ds on 24th aug (3 weeks early) so thought i would introduce myself and hope to share some of your stories/experiences

PinkTinsel · 24/11/2006 21:18

hello reidie was this ds your first?congratulations!

eeny, i call it sleep training but most call it controlled crying, i hat that term though as there's nothing controlled about it i was against it for so long and still hate the thought of it but things with dd had reached breaking point, she wasn't going to sleep til 3 am most nights, and was awake at 5am wanting up. she was miserable and unwell and i was newly pregnant with caleb so not in the best shape to be dealing with no sleep.

we tried the ferber method of leaving her to cry for 1 min then 2 then 3 and so on but it got to 30 minute gaps in the middle of the night and she still wasn't down so we had to go cold turkey. took 2 nights and now she sleeps from 7.30 til 8/9 am and wants to go to bed at night . i wouldn't recommend it in a younger child and i'd avoid it if at all possible but it helped us in the end.

i'm not doing very well at staying off the pc am i but our tv was off all day so i'm behaving a bit...... i just need my MN fix every day!

oh bugger! just remembered i was supposed to bring caleb down for his vacs today in case we do need to move (looking less likely by the second) bugger, gp's is always packed on a monday.

lunavix · 24/11/2006 22:36

hi reidie my dd was born the same day as your ds (2.50pm)

eeny - will look up that book! I'm starting to pick up on cues from her but like I said the routine we used with bottlefed ds isn't going to work.

reidie · 24/11/2006 23:33

4.55pm my ds was born and yes he is our first

PinkTinsel · 24/11/2006 23:41

how are things going so far, the sleep deprivation working out ok for you? are you breastfeeding?

olivhohoho · 25/11/2006 07:00

Yay! i just got 8 hours sleep in one go!!!!

i slept in the spare room and left a bottle with dh! i feel grrrrrrreat!(except for the two large boulders in my bra which is why i'm up now attached to me milking machine !)

hi reidie and welcome! congratulations on your ds.

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 25/11/2006 08:08

Mawnin awll!
Just mumsnetting from my nintendo at my BIL's lol.

Hi to Reidi and congrats on your ds. My ds was born the day before. You'll enjoy it here and I'm sure the others won't mind me saying, we're all a bunch of nutters. Purely through sleep deprivation you understand

Olivo, glad you got some sleep. It makes the world of difference doesn't it.

Pinky, did I miss about you applying for a job? Good luck with it anyway.

Booby, Promise I'll call you today. I'm stopping at my BIL's tonight too so I'll have 2 pairs of hands to look after the kids while I call you. Otherwise you'll be chatting to Madison lol.

I've stupidly forgotten my ad's. I know I've only taken one but I'm going to miss out on 2 days now as not going home till sunday afternoon.
On a plus note Ellis has slept through in the travel cot here. I really wasn't expecting it because the mattresses are crap in them but obviously this boy needs his night time sleep and will do it anywhere lol.
Think I'm off shopping with my SIL later so I think I'll treat myself
Have a good day everyone.
xxx

PinkTinsel · 25/11/2006 11:34

not me feathers, dp guessing he's not got it though when we haven't heard back.

congratulations on the sleep olivo caleb was wide awake and giggling when i went to bed at 12.30 last night and i had to get up twice as dd floodes her nappies..... no idea how she does it, she only had 2/3 cups of juice yesterday!

melsy · 25/11/2006 11:56

Well my back is truly awful still , but Ive found a cranial osteopath who treats babys and post natal mums , so Ive got an appt Tues, cant really spend the money , but I cant face this for another 6 weeks or wahatver for NHS physio.

dd2 has just brought up loads & loads of her feed , which is very unusual , not sure if it was wind or a cold for her also ??? Do I attempt to give her some more ,yellow your the puking expert here!!!??? she is shouting for it I think lol !!!

melsy · 25/11/2006 12:00

pink isnt that giggling at early hours great !!!

PinkTinsel · 25/11/2006 12:04

lol, melsy it cheered me up til i found dd prectically floating in her cot [sigh] makes you so much more inclined to pick them up than if they scream doesn't it?.... clever buggers!

PinkTinsel · 25/11/2006 12:05

[sigh] i know your used to my illiteracy by now but sorry..... that was even more appalling than usual!

PinkTinsel · 25/11/2006 12:06

melsy · 25/11/2006 12:06

Floating pink ??????sicky ?

i have stop myself from laughing and engaging her, i have to look away , otherwise its up at 2:30 for me , nooooooooooooooooo way.

PinkTinsel · 25/11/2006 12:19

leaking nappy, tha cot was drenched

BigHotMama · 25/11/2006 15:20

Morning girls, am knackered as Jackson got me up at 3.30, 5.30, 6.30 I think he's teething and its waking him up plus I couldnt get to sleep so feel a bag of poo today. he was smiling at me on the 6.30 wake up though and you just cant help but laugh to yourself cuz its soo cute no matter how tired you feel. Pink does your dd scream if you chnage nappy during the night? Jackson does so I only change him if he's drenched through or I can smell something funny. He does wake up feeling sweaty sometimes, so he may be waking if he's too hot as we have got heaters on in our room. Might go and check the temp in there

My mom and dad are babysitting for the first time tonight so we are going for a meal and then going to see new James Bond film cant wait

PinkTinsel · 25/11/2006 18:04

no, she was still half asleep so just lies there, she'll scream within 20 mins if left to lie in the puddle though. caleb never needs his nappy done at night anymore, i put him in boosted bumbles or terries and they last through, when he was little he didn't cry too much though, only if i woke him up to change him coz he was leaking, if he cried because of a dirty nappy he's always been delighted when i clean him up so more likely to giggle than to scream. dd used to yell the house down when she was a baby though.
