Well I managed to get to Jessica's swimming lesson today. Getting out the house with a baby takes me aaaages! We're now doing underwater swims at the pool that involve me also going underwater. Problem is I am pants at going underwater and tbh just plain frightened of it. My lack of confidence in the water is why I'm taking Jessica to lessons so I will just have to persevere.

Pear purèe mixed with baby rice was a big hit today. She ate half a pouch in minutes and opened her mouth wide for the spoon. Quite amazing as until now she's only ever had 2 or 3 little spoonfuls of vegetable purèe and has gagged at them. I think my girl has a sweet tooth!

Nazly · 08/02/2015 23:13

Acron I would leave it and start again later, but not in a couple of weeks, in a couple of days. Baby rice with your milk when runny is closest to their usual food so you are eliminating many possibilities with this choice; I'd say just give him a bit of time and try again soon, in 2 to 3 days

Cookie Mil brought something exactly like those for ds in his gift package; ds takes of shoes in no time and some smaller socks but the right size socks stay on.

How many nappies do you use in 24 hours girls? How many without poo?

topmammy · 08/02/2015 23:21

I probably use between 4 and 5 nappies at the most in a day. Jessica used to poop daily but now saves it up for 2 or 3 days then does one almighty poonami ShockGrin

I managed to put Jessica to bed tonight at 8pm but she's waking up every 45 minutes Sad I hope this isn't what I have to look forward to all night long.

ella We are still using Size 3 nappies. They are generally very good and contain contents if they are Pampers or Aldi brands (and the Active fit type).

lilone Eye colour....well DP and I both have dark brown eyes and DS has a murky grey colour. Sometimes in photos they come out brown, and sometimes I think I can see orange pigment in them.
My eldest son's eyes went brown at 10 months so there's still time - however he was born with a more navy blue eye colour. My daughters stayed blue and were always very pale blue. (They have a different dad who is blue eyed.)

Socks and shoes: I guess my LO is rare as he keeps his socks on. I do pull his socks right up over his calf and up to his knee though (can't see this under trousers). And shoe wise...he does keep the velcro ones on - hes got a pair of Brogues from the Next sale that were £2.50 and they are brilliant, he's never kicked them off. DP loves shoes and trainers so admittedly DS has quite a trendy collection Shock but anything that slips on he tends to kick off.

jaykay34 · 09/02/2015 05:39

topmammy J also went to bed at 8 and woke hourly until 1am. Hes just slept through until 5..now gone back off again. I feel knackered.

Acorncat · 09/02/2015 07:29

Eye colour - born a navy blue and now just normal blue. I have blue eyes and DH has hazel, hoping they stay blue (not sure why, it really doesn't matter)

Socks - mostly kept on, not much of a foot rubber. Though he has started finding his feet and pulling his socks a bit so that may change.

Nappies - size 4, has been for months now. I imagine he'll stay in them for the ages now. I change wet nappies about every 3 hours, not really sure how often you're meant to! When he was smaller they were always full quickly but now he doesn't feed as much and loses litres of water through drooling they're often just a little wet when I change him. He's changed once between 8pm and 8am.

Weaning - I shall persevere. I haven't expressed in ages and it was such a pain doing even that tiny bit for baby rice. Need to get him using the diary free formula for mixing with food but I feel bad cos it's really horrible and I could just express!

lilone1234 · 09/02/2015 09:20

Nappies - we are in size 3 and change every 3-4 hours. Usually only one big poo every other day.

KitKat1985 · 09/02/2015 10:01

Like Lilone we also still use size 3 nappies. I usually change her every 3-4 hours if she hasn't pooed so she can have a dry nappy on. She poos about twice a day at the mo on average, and obviously gets changed then too (usually a poo seems to occur about 5 minutes after she gets a clean nappy Hmm ). I put Pampers baby dry on her at night and only do a night change now if she's actually pooed herself. So I say we probably use about 5-6 nappies a day on average. In the newborn stage it was like every hour or two, day and night!

Jessica is in size 3+ Pampers at the moment but I'm just finishing the pack off then I'll be putting her in 4s. She's got chunky little thighs so the 3s are getting a bit tight!

Well co sleeping from 4 / 5 am is becoming our routine now. I'm glad I get a bit more sleep that way but I lie on my side (so Jessica has boob access) and I get a super numb leg.

Honeybear30 · 09/02/2015 10:44

I'm still using size 3's and DS is very big which is making me think maybe I should switch up to fours are this is what most of you are using. We don't have many leaks, apart from poos. But I just assumed that was because they are so explosive! I've got a fair few 3's to get through, perhaps I'll finish these off and then buy some 4's. They seem to fit ok as well though.

top back when I was co sleeping I found my leg would go numb but after the first week or so of doing it I think I either just got used to it or adjusted enough to make it comfortable.

Zanashar · 09/02/2015 11:41

We're using size 3s currently in either Pampers baby dry or Aldi. Tried Tesco & sainsburys but had too many leaks with tesco and sainsburys come up a touch on the small side.

Usually 5-6 changes per day (just before a feed) and always when a poopslosion has occurred, which is 2-3 times a day! Yesterday we had one that was so far up her back it almost reached her shoulders!!!

The DD thighs are getting chunky now so will probably go 3+/4 for the next batch ( still a lot of 3s to go through as bought a monthly pack off Amazon)

What wipes is everyone using? I started with Asda little angels extra sensitive as they only contain six different ingredients and were very gentle but have been using Huggies Pure now (8 ingredients). Was quite horrified to see that Johnsons extra sensitive had a list of over 20!!! They were v good though. Am I being weird in that I prefer the ones with less chemicals in..........?

misog2000 · 09/02/2015 11:41

We are still in size 3 but Em is one of the youngest on the thread. I change her bum everytime I feed her unless she poos then it's straight away, she likes a clean nappy to poo in too kit Kat.

We've all got a horrible cold so are having a duvet day, I'm working tomorrow which is crap but it is what it is!

RedToothBrush · 09/02/2015 12:12

DS had blue eyes. They are still blue and unlikely to change tbh. Both DH and I have blue eyes.

He's very firmly still in No3 nappies even as one of the oldest. But I think he is one of the smallest despite being long. His trousers are too big round the waist and I'm forever pulling up. Damn genetics from his father.

cookielove · 09/02/2015 13:53

Ds has blue eyes they are really bright and we love them fx they don't change. Although if they do change will still love him Wink

Weaning seems to be going well he is eating now instead of just tasting. Had porridge this morning and then a squidge of pear to follow. He is really interested in finger food but doesn't know what to do with it when I give it to him, so will just keep offering it :)

He is in size 3 active fit pampers during the day, he has never really had a poo explosion infact I am struggling to remember the last time it happened! He does often leak wee at night but I don't change him through the night as it wakes him up to much. So he often goes 8 to 8 and he sleeps on his tummy too so that doesn't help with not leaking. He has just moved up to size 4 in pampers baby dry last night it worked.

Ds is still poorly but still quite happy, had the cutest giggle yesterday! Have a dr appointment booked just to get him checked later in the week!

CumbrianExile · 09/02/2015 14:43

Another one with Blue eyes still. I have blue, DH brown, and he was convinced A would end up with brown, but no sign of changing yet.

Still in size 3 nappies, in fact we only went up to size 3 a few weeks ago. Currently using Asda ones but I thing they smell very chemically, will try aldi ones once I have finished the last pack of Asda. I tend to change about 4-5 times a day, once with every feed and then when he does a poo (usually right after a change of nappy here too!!)

Wrt I use either aldi or asda sensitive. Mainly due to the price of them, but I am careful and check his skin when I change him as I have very sensitive skin. I also use sudo cream on him whenever I change him, and so far we haven't had any nappy rash.

FATEdestiny · 09/02/2015 15:03

Hi all.

DD has blue eyes still. My two boys were both born with blue eyes but the colour had changed to brown by the time they were 12 months. My two daughters appear to have blue eyes like me.

We are in size 3 nappies, but DD is one of the youngest here. I would guess at using 4 or 5 a day, I have never really kept track. One or two poos a day.

Had a only friend over for tea and gossip today. Lovely to catch up. Brew

FATEdestiny · 09/02/2015 15:03

12 weeks, not 12 months Hmm

KitKat1985 · 09/02/2015 15:51

Hmmm, had Jessica weighed today and she's only gained half a pound in 3 weeks. This drops her from the 40th centile to 25th. The HV wasn't worried so I guess I shouldn't be either unless it continues. Hopefully just a blip.

b had amazing blue eyes at birth, now brown.

nappies - after 2 leaky poo filled ones last week we are now on size 4- active fit during day and baby dry at night. I do ours through amazon subscribe and save which I have to say am v impressed by.
wipes - johnsons in pink pack or ?can't remember make in white pack.

had some quite interesting poos since he started on veg and fruit!!

b has discovered his voice. it is v sweet, he lay in his cot singing, giggling and chattering this morning. ...dh didn't need his alarm clock!!

Topsyloulou · 09/02/2015 17:14

DS still has lovely blue eyes & expect them to stay that way as mine are green blue & DP is blue grey.

We're in size 4 nappies & have been for a few weeks. DS is one of the youngest, born on 26th, but is 91st centile for weight & 75th for height. We probably go through between 6 & 8 nappies a day depending on poos. DS is another one who likes to poo in a clean nappy, normally straight after a feed. We use Aldi nappies & Aldi sensitive wipes. I found pampers leaked a lot for DS, the only leaks we've had with the aldi ones are when he's needed to move up a size.

Nazly · 09/02/2015 17:27

Interesting, the other way around for us, Aldi leaked once and it was out; we do pampers active fit plus pampers baby dry size 4+.
Nappy pampers sensitive newborn . I only buy pampers using bum deal website and buy from cheapest shop.
As principle I change him 3-4 times plus poos end up with 4-5 changes a day.

Nazly · 09/02/2015 17:28

Sorry, meant to say wipes pampers sensitive.
Why MN does not have edit function?!?

Honeybear30 · 09/02/2015 17:36

I use Huggies pure for wipes, I had some Johnsons extra sensitive and omg the nappy rash!! I think the huggies are softer, they don't have the waves in the fabric, they seem to be smoother if that makes any sense? I try and buy them in the asda baby event, it's about £8 for 12 packs that way. I also use the bum deal website though, very handy.

I couldn't get on with aldi nappies, the tabs kept coming undone. I always use Boots, I love the fact you get 10 advantage card points per pound on baby stuff which is equal to 10% off so makes me happy :)

Acorncat · 09/02/2015 18:15

I use huggies pure wipes too, stock up when they're on offer at Costco or Asda. I Have 24 packs stored. Haven't tried any others except johnsons sensitive which were just slidy and weird.
