I was driving today and felt so tired I pulled over and had a five minute power nap, DD was zonked in her car seat. I was surprised how much it revived me!

Seems we are starting to make progress with nights. Two weeks ago she would only sleep on me, feeding every 90 min or so from 7.30 until about 3.00, then constantly thrashing and feeding a tiny bit every 30 minutes to calm her until she woke at about 5.30. Last night she went down in her own room, swaddled to stop the arms going and blanket tight over her to stop the legs flying up! She had a feed at midnight, which DH did, then I fed her at 3.15 and 5.15 before she woke at 5.45. Such a huge change! Hoping that the 5.15 feed disappears soon Grin

MN ate one of my posts
Team glad sleeping is getting better

Sleepless when I co sleep ds wakes three times as much as when he is in his cot! I even read somewhere recently that co sleeping makes the baby feed more often.

Holls I have a £2 white noise app which has a "listening" function i.e. it listens to your baby and when baby makes a noise it starts automatically. I have not tried that specific function but sounds better than remote control

lilone1234 · 05/02/2015 22:48

Nazly, what's the name of that app? Mine only goes 30 minutes at a time. I'm usually too late to creep in a restart it during nap times and she wakes after first cycle still grumpy but won't go back to sleep. This might help!

Nazly · 05/02/2015 23:49

Lilone it is called sound sleeper; the first 30m comes free but then you pay 2 quids and it becomes unlimited and the listening function starts to work too. We don't need it for night but we need it for day naps and I just leave it on until ds wakes up; it takes anything between 30m to 3 hours for him to wake up; still no routine here...

TeamEponine · 06/02/2015 04:48

Spoke too soon about nights getting better! Since 4.00 I've had to feed, cuddle and jiggle her constantly to keep her asleep! She went to bed at 7.00 rather than 7.30 last night, so I wonder if that could be the problem? I really couldn't keep her awake any longer though.

Nazly, I have that same app! I've not used the listening function though. Might try that. How loud do you have the white noise? DH and I disagree on how loud it should be!

Acorncat · 06/02/2015 07:21

I'm beginning to believe that co sleeping does indeed lead to more feeding, some nights anyway. Last night wasn't too bad - sleep at 8, woke for feed at 1,4,5 up at 6 with wind which I can cope with. Night before it was sleep at 8, feed at 9.30, 11, 1, 4, 5, 6 and had to be woken at 7.30 when we get up. I think I'm going to start putting him in his cot again for the first sleep, it's attached to my bed anyway though he sleeps properly cuddled up against me so a foot of space might make a difference.

SleeplessSeattle · 06/02/2015 08:23

I cannot put him down in his crib though. Every time without fail he wakes up and cries. I've tried putting g a hot water bottle in beforehand, having a bottle ready to feed him when he wakes up when I put him down but he's having none of it. We've only got a one bedroom place so if he cries he keeps me and my partner up and we've both got to be at work/uni in the morning Confusedhow do you put them
In a cot without waking them up?

lilone1234 · 06/02/2015 08:34

Nazly - that's the app I have but I have the free version, think I'll upgrade as it does seem to work.

White noise volume - if baby is crying it needs to start loud so they can hear it enough to be calmed then can be turned down and turned down further once asleep. That's what I do anyway! I also use it for daytime naps but not at night.

holls2000 · 06/02/2015 08:49

sleepless can you try putting him in vaguely awake? then he is aware of where he is being put? b likes having his bridge of his nose stroked and I read a couple of stories whilst he dropa off

KitKat1985 · 06/02/2015 09:07

Sleepless we had the same issue and womb noise played when we put Jessica down works for us (you can get womb noise videos on Youtube). x

Team, lilone the unlimited version of that app has been a very good use of my 2 quids;
I agree with lilone, start load; if necessary highest volume; if he screams with tiredness I take the white noise close to him so he can't hear anything else and it takes seconds to calm him down. Then gradually I turn it down. Don't be afraid of load noise, remember they have to hear it over their own voice;

Nazly · 06/02/2015 09:35

What was the series that many of you liked and some of you watched more than once?

TeamEponine · 06/02/2015 10:02

Probably West Wing! It is great Grin

ApplesTheHare · 06/02/2015 10:05

Team I was going to say the same thing, it's great! Just finished watching it (again) and it was so emotional saying goodbyeWink

holls2000 · 06/02/2015 10:11

apples Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin at saying goodbye. I miss it!!

holls2000 · 06/02/2015 10:12

nazly west wing.
also scandal is good.
greys anatomy will keep you going as it's on season 11 now!!
can any recommend breaking bad? haven't seen it.

holls2000 · 06/02/2015 10:12

only thing is one of actors on scandal is in West wing and it confuses me!!

ApplesTheHare · 06/02/2015 10:49

holls I know it's crazy but I feel like they're friends by the time I've watched it through. I swear there should be a word in the English language to describe the feeling of missing fictional characters once you've finished reading/watching something.

Is it Will Bailey who's in Scandal? Is it worth a watch?

topmammy · 06/02/2015 11:00

I can recommend Breaking Bad! Me and DH were actually addicted to it. Which is ironic considering its subject matter Grin

Jessica is very windy at the moment and puking up a bit which is unusual. Shes not poorly though. I'm wondering if it's the milk I'm drinking that's going through to her and upsetting her tummy. I've had more bowls of cereal recently than I normally do.

SleeplessSeattle · 06/02/2015 13:44

Breaking bad is great, as is game of thrones (though probably not one to watch if you have small children in the room - lots of sex!). Orange is the new black is also fun, once you get over the initial odd episode.

CumbrianExile · 06/02/2015 14:21

Can't say I enjoyed breaking bad, did end up watching til the end, but more because I had started and needed to finish, than actually enjoying it. Game of Thrones is good, but I think you need to watch it closely to follow it iyswim.

SleeplessSeattle · 06/02/2015 16:04

holls no I've never tried putting h down awake... I didn't realise he would be able to get himself back to sleep! I will try tonight.

lilone1234 · 06/02/2015 16:28

Sleepless - I agree with holls to try and put him down awake to self settle. Probably won't work overnight, can be a bit of a struggle but very handy once they can do it I think. I think it's hard to know when to give in or not - there were times when she started to grumble quite a bit and kick out and I would pick her up, but now know that more often than not that's the last stage before she drops off.

Nazly - Got the full version of that nap - she's been asleep nearly 1.5 hours! Why on earth didn't I do this before! Could just be a fluke, we will see!

Honeybear30 · 06/02/2015 16:35

Went out and bought DS a Freddie firefly, loves it! He's so interested in everything. I have to say I loved the newborn snuggle stage but I'm finding this but so much more rewarding and find my days more enjoyable rather than just being about survival!

holls2000 · 06/02/2015 16:52

apples yeah will bailey is in scandal..I am enjoying it but they arent as likeable as the ww cast - who ARE my friends!!!!
