Id love to get some evening back, at the moment dh gets home at 6, makes tea, we eat then he takes babymoose upstairs to play for 15 mins and thats all the time i get to myself and its getting a bit hard. We bath at 7 30 but he rarely falls asleep before 9 30,last night it was 11.15 and only lasted til 1, ive absolutely no clue how to make him sleep earlier and at the moment im not proactively trying to fix it either.
I am however hiding on the stairs (where ive had lunch for the past week) because by some miracle hes started sleeping around 12 30ish if im in the car, so if i can get him in asleep i can sometimes get 45mins - an hour but because hes in the lounge i dont really have anywhere to go lol and its bloody cold on the stairs!

sazzlehopes · 02/02/2015 13:34

stigz I'm the same - expectations set a lot lower and grateful for any sleep and not worrying this time if I get nothing else done on the day either... Which is just as well really as this one is proving tough at night. Feel like a broken record but bar the 3 good nights we had a week ago I'm back again to the 2 hourly wake ups and then normally after 3 he wakes up every hour. He will not be consoled without me feeding him. Last night was hardcore with him waking at 10,12,2 then 3,4 and then I gave up at 5am and came downstairs...as he was wide awake. So really I'm not sure I slept past 2... Confused
I'm just hoping it won't last too long, that's all I can do. I can't fix him. I can't let him CIO - it's not for me. I know he can sleep longer as he has managed 5 hour stretches before so I have to wait. He's clean, fed, naps enough in the day (4 x 45min/1hour naps roughly) and goes to sleep happily after a bath at about 7. So really I can't imagine a 'sleep solution' suggestion I haven't tried. Good old 'this too will pass', will have to do!

My personal sleep solution is a lot of Brew and Cake and early to bed!

DH just taught DD the arms raised above head cheer type thing. Every time she blows a raspberry on demand now, she gives herself a cheer too.

Bless. Grin

wondermoose13 · 02/02/2015 14:08

CIO wont work for paddy either, he gets more irate with every second that passes! And i cant cope with him crying, a a proper wuss. I do keep wondering if we did bath at 6 would he sleep at 7 30 but if he didnt i wouldnt get food .. and im not entirely convinced that i want to give up eating just yet!

tattyblue · 02/02/2015 15:30

fate I think you could probably make your internet fortune with that.

sazzlehopes · 02/02/2015 17:29

Moose personally I think there's a big difference between CIO and a baby learning self soothing... But I know lots have an opinion on it and everything parenting is personal choice so I'll leave it there. You are not a wuss though for not doing it...

Moose exactly the same here. Am sure they will work it out at some point. Lunchtime seems to be the only time we manage a nap at home and not on the move

MundayCakes85 · 02/02/2015 19:16

Sazzle and Moose sorry to hear your both surviving on so little sleep. Tea and cake sounds like a good survival tactic.
My baby is strange- happily napping next to me. Starts stirring so I attempt stealth dummy re-insertion. This enrages her causing me tinnitus and her untold amounts of woe. Apply boob to screaming mouth = back to sleep in 3 sucks. WTAF?!?

STIGZ · 02/02/2015 19:58

Oh god, my wee one is teething badSad just reminded me that sometimes you get a few decent nights and then something emerges and ruins it allHmm jabs on wednesday aswellSad feel like she just recovered from the last set! Nearly time for both my girls to be sleeping, bloody cant wait... Its been a hectic day Confused

Hope you Scottish girls had a nice time today?

YellowWellies · 02/02/2015 20:45

We have first teeth over on the FB group!

tattyblue · 02/02/2015 20:47

Good luck, stigz. I hope even with the teeth the night goes smoothly.

We're into evening horror territory. It's driving me actually nuts. She has a bath, I feed her, she goes to sleep, I put her in her crib, five minutes, she wakes up, I feed her, she goes to sleep, into her crib, five minutes, she wakes up. And repeat. Endlessly. What! Why! Why won't she stay asleep! Why! It's like she's designed the whole thing to be absolutely the most possible annoying it could possibly be. I. Do. Not. Understand. What. The. Problem. Is.

tattyblue · 02/02/2015 20:49

It's like one of those puzzles you get in Christmas crackers where you have to get a ball bearing into a hole and every time you nearly have it and then you just miss at the last moment.

FATEdestiny · 02/02/2015 20:56

Tatty, I can't remember if your DD is a wee one or a chunky monkey? My DD is on the chunky side (91st centile) and is on of the eldest here (end of Sept), but she is too big for her crib sized basket now. She likes to sleep crucifix style, with arms out wide.

Could your DD want more space than the crib and be ready for a full size cot? Just an idea

tattyblue · 02/02/2015 21:10

fate she's quite small- 25th centile, but yes, it's possible. I will clutch that straw! It's only that I sit and watch her and it's notlike she moves or anything. It's five minutes of deep and even baby breathing then oooop open eyes. But I'll order the cot. It's worth a shot.

STIGZ · 02/02/2015 21:17

tatty she is probably too clever, scared incase she misses anythingGrin i bet you have a smarty pants on your hands.

tattyblue · 02/02/2015 21:58

stigz :) that cheers me up.

Cot ordered. Arriving next Monday. I really hope that's what it is- she sleeps with her hands resting against the sides of the crib so maybe. Something is clearly waking herup, though.

FATEdestiny · 02/02/2015 22:07

If it's a flat pack cot, my top-tip is to not attach one of the sides. Butt the three sided cot up to your bed with matching mattress heights to make it a co-sleeper.

Kirstipops · 02/02/2015 23:01

Stigz we ended up rescheduling for 2nd March (4 weeks today), hope you can make it Smile BTW if you ever watch that STV Glasgow channel, my DH's band is going to be playing on The Riverside Show at 7pm tomorrow Grin.

MundayCakes85 · 03/02/2015 05:24

Snow in Dorset, whatever next?!

tattyblue · 03/02/2015 06:59

Snow in London! Hurrah! Blink and you'd miss it though I expect.

ohthegoats · 03/02/2015 07:45

Surprise snow in Wiltshire.

I got another 6 hour stretch last night without having to do any settling. I'd been out for the evening though and apparently boyfriend had a 'nightmare' having to go to her 8 times. Ah well... that was me through the night every night last week, so even though he looked like a broken man when I got in, I don't have much sympathy. Cruel.

splendide · 03/02/2015 08:32

We did 8-3 then fed at 5,6,7! :(

MundayCakes85 · 03/02/2015 08:50

I had a little talk with the baby about trying to sleep a little longer and how 4am is a little early. She then slept until 5.15 when I had to feed her or my boobs would explode.
Glad some of you got a nice chunk of sleep

ohthegoats · 03/02/2015 09:30

And yay, she's just woken up from her nap then PUT HERSELF BACK TO SLEEP (with a comforter and by sucking her fingers). I get that this is just another phase, but it's a much nicer one than last week's!
