Here's hoping, anyway...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

This is hope baby is ok n you get sorted at doc it sounds like could be broncilititus and if gp does nothing and you are still concerned please go to a+e.

Thisisimpossible · 28/01/2015 15:27

The doctor referred us to the ACU so we've been here since about 1pm. You're right eastmds it's bronchiolitis. They are monitoring his wee output to measure how dehydrated he is and We have a minimum target of getting him to eat at least 30ml every two hours.

Hoping we are well enough to go home in a few hours, but reassured that were in the right place if we don't. Thanks for all your support this morning xx

catg83 · 28/01/2015 16:13

thisis well done for persevering. Virtual hugs and hope you get to go home soon. x

WorkFreeWannabe · 28/01/2015 16:18

Awww, sorry to hear about your DS ThisIs. You're in the best place to get it sorted asap.

Took DS to the doctors this morning as his runny nappies are continuing and I wasn't happy with being fobbed off by 111 last night. Also I've been a bit worried about his personality transplant into quiet calm baby from the ball of energy I normally have. The doctor seems quite convinced nothing is wrong but got me to send a stool sample off and to keep an eye on him.

Thisisimpossible · 28/01/2015 16:35

Don't get me started on 111. What a complete waste of chuffing time that is. I had to ring it on Sunday when I was first worried about DS. After an exhaustive list of mostly pointless questions the mind blowing conclusion they came to was 'you need to see a doctor'. No sh*t Sherlock. I know that. I only rang this number because the answerphone at the doctor's surgery told me I had to. Now tell me where I can bloody find one.

I had bad Mummy rage Wink

Thisisimpossible · 28/01/2015 16:36

Hope your DS is ok workfree xx

ToniWol · 28/01/2015 17:12

Thisis - that wasn't bad mummy rage, that's just worried mummy. Hope your DS is okay

DD is finally napping. She's only had a couple about 10 minutes each today but she's finally dozed off on the breast.

WheresMrMonkey · 28/01/2015 17:19

Hope he's ok thisis

WorkFreeWannabe · 28/01/2015 17:50

ThisIs, you've summed up exactly how I felt last night Angry! I've called twice in 2 days only to suffer their pointless bloody checklists. Only to tell me I need to see a doctor in the next 12 hours. You try getting an appointment in the melee that starts at 07:59.

He's been okay so far. Nappies are less watery now so it may be passing. I know he isn't right as this is so unlike him, but apparently that's not a real symptom. Will watch and see how if he perks up.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 28/01/2015 17:54

This is hope he is better soon I had a special interest in bronch when I worked on the wards and when it was that time of year we had a bronch bay of 6 babies to one nurse and I always volunteered my interest is due to personal reasons but too many times I have seen babies who could have been assessed earlier if gp had sent in sooner, my own gp is v ott and would send in v early luckily.

Strawberryfield12 · 28/01/2015 18:46

thisis good to know there is some clarity now, fingers crossed he gets well soon.
I think DD might have had a very light form of cold, she has been caughing couple of times today, probably because stuff has been dripping on her throat from the runny nose. Otherwise she is fine, took a temperature etc, it's all good, also in sensory class she was lively and content. But it does make me nervous about tomorrow's jabs, might ask the nurse to postpone them till next week just in case. Anyhow, have Calpol ready if it all goes tits up.

happypotamus · 28/01/2015 19:50

thisis sorry to hear your baby is so poorly. Hope he is better soon and your hospital stay is short. How many days has he been ill for? Bronchiolitis is usually worse on day 3 then starts getting better. Like eastmids, I have a lot of professional experience of bronchiolitis though that didn't help me much when DD1 had it.

I have spent the day covered in snot and baby sick. She seems to be bringing up milk a lot more than usual, presumably related to her cold. She was awake for hours this morning, mostly moaning because she was tired, then slept for 4hrs this afternoon so we could enjoy lunch out for DH's birthday.

Thisisimpossible · 28/01/2015 21:49

Thanks guys, you are all lovely. DS is hooked up to a monitor for the night and has a feeding tube so that we can get some food down him and he and I can get some much needed rest.

Apart from the crap 111 I am so grateful for the NHS. The fact that we can get all this for free is a Godsend. All the doctors and nurses have been fantastic and I'm really grateful for that.

Thisisimpossible · 28/01/2015 21:53

happy he's been ill since Sunday morning so I think we're peaking now.

He's loving the mobile above his cot here which is making wave sounds but I think I'm going to have to turn it off. It's causing so much excitement it keeps setting his heart monitor off Grin

ladydolly · 29/01/2015 07:55

How did he get on overnight thisis? Been thinking of you both. xx

Thisisimpossible · 29/01/2015 08:48

Ah bless you ladydolly. He had an ok night. Somewhat restless and he needed oxygen a couple of times but all in all ok. He's looking a bit brighter this morning. I was treated to a couple of smiles earlier and he's now transfixed by the mobile and the tv screen next to his bed. I don't think he can decide which is more interesting Grin. He's managed to do a couple of very small breast feeds as well which is a real improvement.

ladydolly · 29/01/2015 09:23

Sounds like he's on the mend slowly but surely. Good stuff.

Annarose2014 · 29/01/2015 09:32

Sounds really good! Hope he'll be back to normal soon! Flowers

I was in bed by 7.30pm, Woo Hoo! As anticipated though I tossed and turned but hey, it was rest I guess. We had a feed at 11.30 and tbh I think subconsciously my brain wouldn't switch off until that was over. But it wasn't a bad night - no wind issues so only feeds and resettles. I'm going to try this "going to bed with baby" lark for another couple of days at least.

He feeds like clockwork 3 hourly during the night. Really hoping he eventually drops one, but not holding my breath. I wonder at what age they normally start doing that?

This morning I watched this: m.youtube.com/watch?v=usOZSK6fTIE

One of the beauty youtubers I watch Emilynoel, had a baby in Sept and this is her 2.5 month baby update. Really interesting as I could relate to a lot of it! Especially the breastfeeding stuff. She's just posted a 3.5 month update and I'm going to watch it to see whats coming.

Annarose2014 · 29/01/2015 09:33

Ooh the video just embeds itself! Fancy schmancy Mumsnet, lol.

amy83firsttimer · 29/01/2015 10:24

Glad baby seems to be on the mend Thisis - thinking of you.

Who's got snow today? We do and ventured over the road to go to baby bliss class and it was cancelled!!! Pram.not great in snow, will probably use the sling if I need to go out later.

Thisisimpossible · 29/01/2015 10:43

Love Emilynoel's bit about working from home Anna. I've just restarted one of my freelance jobs and its a lot harder fitting it in than I thought it would be!

No snow here yet amy but we are right on the south coast so we'll probably be the last to get it. It's forecast for tonight though.

catg83 · 29/01/2015 11:33

thisis glad to hear he sounds on the mend. The mobile making him so excited it set the monitor off made me laugh.

We have a couple of inches of snow here in Manchester. It looks beautiful and DS does seem to like watching it fall out the window.

Mastitis is a bitch. Very achey and sore boob which now seems to have developed a blister. Feeling "under the weather" and generally rubbish. Health visitor coming at lunch time so will have a chat with her about it.

happypotamus · 29/01/2015 12:00

DH has just left for London for his surgery. I'm sure it will be fine but Sad
We don't know how long he will be there.

We had just a few flakes of snow this morning here in the Midlands, hoping there won't be any more, but DH asked his dad to pick DD1 up from pre-school this afternoon so I don't have to trek out in the freezing cold and possible snow.

cat hope you are feeling better soon.

Thisisimpossible · 29/01/2015 12:25

Aw cat that sounds miserable. Have a big hug. I hope it gets better very soon. xx

Thisisimpossible · 29/01/2015 12:50

happy fingers crossed your DH is home soon x
