Here's hoping, anyway...

amy feed him upstairs in sleeping bag at the 7.30 feed. A big feed so he goes into the basket in a milk coma.

Last night DS went into bed at 8 and woke naturally for a feed at 12.30.

moggle · 27/01/2015 16:08

I wish DD would feed to sleep sometimes! She comes off the boob with her eyes closed but as soon as I move she's wide awake again.

thisis - poor ds hope he feels better soon.

Saliva glands start to become active at around 2 months hence the sudden massive amounts of drooling. Likewise developmentally they all start to chomp on fists between 2-3 months. Doesnt necessarily mean teeth are imminent. DS did both those things & cut first tooth at 5 months.

Anna dd hates the sling too. Tried my friends babasling & she screams, considered a caboo after reading comments on here but having looked at the fb group sounds like she'll outgrow it fairly quickly so am not gonna bother. kicks self for having sold the baby bjorn we used with ds

Annarose2014 · 27/01/2015 18:27

Have just put DS to bed at 6pm as he was falling asleep. Feed was at 5.30. He's conked out upstairs now & I'm watching him obsessively on the monitor the news.

I have no idea what will happen, lol. Sleep all evening or meltdown in a half hour? It could go either way.

Annarose2014 · 27/01/2015 18:54

Wide awake again. Epic Fail! Grin

Arkkorox · 27/01/2015 22:02

Hope you managed to get your little one back down again Anna

Well little miss piggy has been chomping away since we got home from walking the dog at 4ish so I reckon she's in for a good sleep again. I'm wondering if I need to be watching how much she's eating during the day cause it's tons - bottles and boobs but then she doesn't have the night feeds like a normal baby so she makes up for it in the day I guess.

HV coming tomorrow morning, attempting to tidy up a bit now so I'm not trying to do it while madam is starving from her big sleep and shouting at me!!

omama · 27/01/2015 22:15

How did your evening go Anna?

I've only just got dd settled for the night [rolls eyes emoticon]. This is the price I pay for letting her sleep all morning while I was out! Then she was awake too long this avo & got overtired. She's been really restless all evening & constantly rubbing at her eyes nose & mouth, knocking her dummy out then crying for it to be put back in over & over again. I can't just put her down & leave her to it as she screams blue murder if put in the moses basket to self settle - so I spent my evening doing a combination of rocking/jiggling/cuddling. My back & shoulders are killing! Someone please tell me this god awful stage will end soon?! Sorry I'm just not enjoying the tiny baby stage much Blush Sad

Annarose2014 · 27/01/2015 23:08

Oh God thats awful omama huge hugs. I hear you on not loving the tiny stage. I can't wait for DS to talk. Articulate your needs, goddammit!

DS woke up fully as I said, so I brought him downstairs, changed his nappy, he was full of chat and giggles and loving the world and being a total Disney baby, but just 5 mins later he was rubbing his eyes and wailing for food even though it had only been an hour and a half! So rather than endure screaming till the next feed time I just gave in and fed him to sleep again. Fuck it.

I feel like I'll never figure this out. But at least he went to sleep.

Arkkorox · 28/01/2015 07:47

Hope you're feeling a bit happier omama and ds had a good night Anna

Bloody tired today and can't even blame the baby, it's the big baby that was waking me up last night needing a cuddle which of course had alterrior motives and then talked to me about random crap for ages Hmm

I did point out it wouldn't be him getting up with DD!!!

amy83firsttimer · 28/01/2015 08:06

I managed to serve dinner at 7.10 then had ds in moses basket upstairs by 9.00! Definitely progress and he slept til 6.30. Happy mummy! Off to see nearly 1 year old girl and her mum today at their house. Should be fun, but I'm a bit worried about the drive there and back on my own (50 mins ish each way). Wish me luck.

Strawberryfield12 · 28/01/2015 08:30

thisis we have something similar, but we don't seem to manage clean the noisy bits out of her. Some big bogie came out, but some stuff is still left. I start to think it sounds worse than it is. Maybe the reason is that up to now it was always dried up big clots (so no noise), but this time it sounds like liquid. She can feed and breath, but all those sounds of blocked nose makes me feel she struggles and I go bonkers.

Baby sensory today. Wish me luck DD doesn't decide she has to eat and sleep that time like last week. Hmm Never thought about it before went to the class, but she usually has a big nap around 11am (when they offer most of the baby classes for whatever reason). I will probably put on hold the classes for some time once sensory ends. Also have noticed that she struggles to go to sleep after we have taken her to some activities (med checkups included).

Strawberryfield12 · 28/01/2015 08:45

Btw how is your batch cooking consumption going? We started to eat them up in January as in December I was too excited eating all the pregnancy blacklisted items. So yesterday I pulled out of the freezer box with label "coffee braised lamb". Made me remember the time so many of us were off work already, but babies would hesitate to come (good, old times! Feels like century ago). I was killing my time by knitting baby clothes and trying out new recipes, leftovers of which we are clearing off now.

DD is 2 months soon, but feels like it was few days ago I posted announcement about DD arrival on facebook.

Have booked our first little holiday (Easter) with DD. Nothing fancy- North Norfolk. Cannot wait! Now should look into booking few weeks back to my home country in the summer.

Arkkorox · 28/01/2015 08:53

I never got round to batch cooking anything but I use the slow cooker a lot so when dd is asleep i can just chuck it all in there or DP cooks ( or we order pizza!)

I can't believe how quickly the last few weeks has gone. DD is like a proper little person now instead of the little ball of baby!

Thisisimpossible · 28/01/2015 09:04

Hi Strawberry he's also very noisy and you saying that you wonder if it sounds worse than it is gives me a degree of comfort. I have just made another appt at the doctors as he isn't improving at all. I was up most of last night again, he hasn't had a 'proper' feed in 24 hours, won't take EBM from a bottle either (normally no issue), hasn't had a poo for 48 hours and his little chest muscles are working overtime on the breathing. I don't care if they look at me like I'm a mad mother, I need some reassurance. Watching him struggle all the time is killing me.

The one small silver lining is that we now have a very good stock of EBM in the freezer from me needing to drain my bursting boobs.

Annarose2014 · 28/01/2015 09:08

Hve been awake since 5am listening to the sound of DS struggling to pass wind, rocking Moses basket, putting on Sheep, trying to ignore it, ending up giving a feed to help him pass it, which he does...but oh no we discover 10 mins later there's more in there......I always end up bringing him into the bed with me about 6.30 and he sleeps then but I don't sleep a wink with him beside me.

I wouldn't mind if he slept through until his windy time but he had two long feeds prior so I only got three hours sleep last night with everything. I'm going to have to start going to bed in the early evenings, arent I?

Annarose2014 · 28/01/2015 09:12

Thisisimpossible if you get fobbed off at the doctors bring him to A&E. Not because its neccessarily an emergency but just so you get him examined properly. The poor little lad might need a chest xray anyway.

Strawberryfield12 · 28/01/2015 09:28

God thisis I'd better shut up about DD's stuffed nose, it's definitely nothing like what you go through. She has slept and now in her crib is cheering with loud shouts to the mobile on go (lots of sneezing and piggy sounds too). Hope DS is better soon, you should see the doctor as many times as you need, even if it's every day and they put your picture on the entrance asking to stay away. Hugs x

ladydolly · 28/01/2015 09:33

babydolly still has a rattley nose but seems bright enough. She's always been a good sleeper although a bugger to settle down sleep at 10 til 8 with 2 dreamfeeds and no settling needed in the night. But the last 2 nights she needed feeding every 90 mins!! I'm so tired!! Trying to pin down the change... jabs on monday, leap according to wonder weeks... either way I hope it passes quickly!

Oven blew up just before dinner last night; managed to cook lamb shanks in slow cooker and on hob then just before serving total power cut! Dinner in the dark! Was only out for an hour but I realise I can't live without wifi!!

We're done with batch cooking. I prep during the day with dd in her bouncer watching me. Then one of us cooks while the other entertains dd. Also big slow cooker fan. We've always had busy evenings so I'm practiced at advance prep. I used to get dinner ready in the morning before going to the gym/swimming and still be in work for 7.45.... these days I'm impressed if I'm dressed and had breakfast by 10am.

Arkkorox · 28/01/2015 09:35

Oh thisis I hope you can get somewhere with docs today, I agree with Annarose about taking him up to hospital. Even if they send you away thinking your a loon at least you've covered all bases!
anna hope you manage to at least get a catch up nap today.

Will the HV care if I've hoovered or not cause I really can't be bloody bothered

Thisisimpossible · 28/01/2015 09:42

Anna and Strawberry, thank you so much.

Anna, three hours a night is definitely not enough! I go to bed at 8/9ish most nights leaving DS with DP until midnightish when DP goes to bed. It gives me a head start on the night shift and whilst it's sh*t because we don't get to see each other much atm, it's better than the alternative of me having a breakdown because I haven't had enough sleep. I can't manage for long on very little. It might be worth it for a few nights at least?

Strawberry, don't stop about DDs nose! Any degree of listening to them struggle to breathe is hideous. Please continue to share it so we can send you hugs when needed xx And thank you for making me laugh! Maybe I should take them a photo today just in case!

Thisisimpossible · 28/01/2015 09:45

Ark our house has always been a tip when the HV has visited. She seems more concerned with whether he's putting on weight, how bf is going and whether or not I have pnd Wink My impression is that the state of the house was the last thing on her mind. I think they get how totally all encompassing it is on the time front looking after a newborn.

Annarose2014 · 28/01/2015 10:00

I'm going to try to go to bed early. Problem is I'm a night owl and not at all sure I'll actually sleep or just toss and turn.

But I have to try as when I think about it I only got 5 hrs the night before which means only 8 hrs sleep in 48 hrs. Yikes!

Arkkorox · 28/01/2015 10:02

thisis that's good cause the dogs having a toy box sort out and it now looks like it's snowed haha!

utopian99 · 28/01/2015 12:46

Feeling everyone on the sleep front. Dh and I have been tag teamed by both boys for the last two nights - one wakes up as the other finally passes out and repeat. Combination of ds1 having nightmares suddenly and ds2's second tooth plus blocked nose.

It'll be interesting when they're sharing a room in 4 months. Hmm

catg83 · 28/01/2015 13:07

Oh bugger. Have had a bit of a sore boob for the past few days. Rang NCT breast feeding advice line as my boob has now gone red and hot. Lots of sympathy and good advice. Essentially heat, massage and feed as much as possible. Still going to go to drs as she said it sounds like I have an infection and antibiotics would clear that.

DS also has 8 week vaccinations today. It never rains but it pours.

Utmost sympathy to those with lack of sleep. I am getting about 6 hours a night and it is definitely affecting me. Managed to leave the remote control in the fridge yesterday. x
