Omama my 4yr old is the Same no volume control n forgets a few minutes later that I asked him to be quiet

catg83 · 26/01/2015 19:03

Generally DS goes down about 11 (after having an evening nap at some point between 6 and 8) and has a feed about 3.30. He then wakes up about 7. We end to get 2 big naps in the day (including the evening) and a few 20 min shut eyes here and there. DS is 8+3 weeks. X

Annarose2014 · 26/01/2015 19:45

So I've had a dreadful day here with DS getting overtired and refusing to nap and getting overtired and screaming uncontrollably.

DH said "could he be teething?" and I scoffed.

BUT.

I've been thinking about it and I think he's right, I think he's fucking teething! I had to put a dribble bib on him today and it was soaked. And he's ramming that fist in. And he's turned into a little demon!

He's only 11 weeks old! Noooo!!

Has anyone any experience of this? Not sure what to give him as his little mouth is too small for a teething ring.

Evening folks - another babywearer here. We used them til dd1 was about 3.5. I loved it as she was always close to me, I could chat away to her and it was a godsend on public transport. It has been great with dd2 as well - especially with the section in a top floor flat.
I have been using my wrap and mei tai mostly out of my sling stash. I am going to a baby wearing meet up on Friday as can't get the hang of my ringsling. I know they will sell well when we are done with them too.

dd2 had her hip rescan this morning which thankfully was clear.its routine in Glasgow for transverse / breech babies so pleased they are diligent about it. I also got chance to meet up with a pal whose son is in same hospital being treated for leukemia. It certainly puts things in perspective.

dd2 has a sacral dimple so we have to get that checked out too. Apparently its quite common but want to make sure all is ok.

she done her first real long throaty giggle tonight when dd1 was blowing raspberries on her chubby wee belly. There certainly was no tears in my eyes Wink

I know what you are saying about 2nd kids missing out. I salve my guilt by thinking of all the attention she gets from dd1. We are going to baby massage and dd1 loves doing it for her while I get on with chores. I dont have time to fit in as many classes as I did with dd1, nor can I afford them but hope all the stimulation for big sis compensates!

WorkFreeWannabe · 26/01/2015 21:02

SNAP Anna! I've come on here to discuss exactly the same thing as my DS is roughly the same age give or take a few days. He's been dribbling non stop for a few days and today he had a very runny nappy. No fever or other symptoms and ran through various checklists with 111. At first I thought it was a bug but now I'm not convinced as there hasn't been any signs of illness.

Normally he's a livewire constantly playing/giggling etc but today he's been very subdued. Happy to lie there chewing his fist. We watch and wait Confused

moggle · 26/01/2015 21:26

Not sure if it'll reassure you but we had all our NCT friends round I Saturday with their babies, and the three oldest aged 10-11 weeks had all discovered their hands in the last couple of weeks and we're all chomping on their fists. So that part might just be where they are developmentally at the mo... Not sure about the other stuff... :-S

Dd1 pulled that on us. Was convinced a tooth was imminent. First one appeared at 8 months Shock

Dd2 currently at it too.

WorkFreeWannabe · 26/01/2015 22:14

Just incase it is a bug I'm going to follow the nurse's advice and keep him away from others for 48 hours.

I wish DS would pay more attention to his Sophie La Giraffe rather than his fingers. He only cares if I hold It for him.

Greenstone · 26/01/2015 22:21

Actually there are loads of bugs around this winter. Seems like more than other years. I truly cannot wait for the spring to arrive!
Dd finally conked after a whole evening resisting sleep. Going to have a sneaky hot chocolate before bed.

utopian99 · 26/01/2015 22:28

A already has one tooth (came at week 8 Shock) and working on the second...so it can happen!

barmybunting · 26/01/2015 22:37

Arkkorax, DD is also still cluster feeding in the eve from about 6-10/11pm. She is 10 weeks. It is normal for some babies I think. But I hope it stops soon! It sometimes means we get about 10.30-5.00 without a feed but generally we get a feed at 3, 6/7ish and awake at about 9. I am itching for the cluster feeding to lessen but scared it may make sleep worse!

happypotamus · 26/01/2015 23:02

My baby is 3 months old today! Where did those months go?!

She has also definitely found her hands and chomps away at them. MIL mentioned teething, but I remember DD1 being the same with no teeth appearing for many months.

I also tjink there are times when both DDs are a bit neglected. I didn't do loads òf baby classes or groups with DD1, but don't do any yet with DD2. She just kind of has to tag along with whatever DD1 wants to do. dD2 and I should probably find something to go to on the 3 days that DD1 is at pre-school, but it is going to be difficult with DH's operation and not being able to drive. The walk and bus journey to pre-school is going to be over a hour round trip twice a day, could easily be nearly 2hrs if DD walks very slow and there is a long wait for the bus, so can't guarantee to be at a group that starts early. DD1 has apparently told relatives that we don't go out anywhere or do anything fun now we have a baby. This is not true, but she obviously feels she is missing out. Swimming is something I know she misses. DH won't swim, and I can't manage both of them on my own, especially as DD2 wouldn't stay n for nearly as long as DD1 would want to. However, they do really love each other. DD1. Has said that when DD2 is old enough she wants to get bunk beds and share a bedroom with her!

Annarose2014 · 26/01/2015 23:30

I almost hope its teething as it would explain the Jekyll & Hyde behaviour.

Otherwise.......yikes.

I'm going to have a good look in his mouth tomorrow. There's no rosy cheeks but dear God, the drool! He's like a bull mastiff!

Annarose2014 · 26/01/2015 23:34

BTW, am I the only one who has a child that hates slings? I'm trialling my third sling now but he just gets really pissed off in them.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 27/01/2015 02:05

The teeth can be moving around but not actually cut til much later on I remembering ds1 being dribbly n fists in mouth from 8weeks and ds2 is the same.

Arkkorox · 27/01/2015 08:29

Annarose DD hates them unless I put her in when she's in the right mood! If she's full and sleepy she's more than happy in them but she's so bloody nosey that if she's wide awake she gets cross that she can't see enough!

Strawberryfield12 · 27/01/2015 09:09

anna DD doesn't like them either, she is better with baby carriers than slings though. The sling she was simply screaming in my face with little fists in the air.

DD is also chewing her fists a lot, sometimes puts them so deep she almost chokes on them. Most of the feeds now start with arm wrestling... I noticed a white spot on her gums on one side, but I try not to think it is tooth coming, she is 7,5 weeks still.

Strawberryfield12 · 27/01/2015 09:15

Oh yes, she seems to chew a lot on her tongue (as there is nothing else in her moth).

Arkkorox · 27/01/2015 10:38

Teehee, the power of a baby. DP was heading out the door after having his morning chat with Dd, she started wailing as he walked away so he canceled what he was doing and is now sat with her on the sofa singing songs at dd who is looking a bit like Hmm lol

But it means I can have a nice long shower mumsnet in peace!

Annarose2014 · 27/01/2015 10:48

Oh Christ, a friend has just texted me and said she'll be at mine by 11.20 for a catch up.

Quick, to the Dry Shampoo!!!

Thisisimpossible · 27/01/2015 10:54

My poor little man has a stinking cold. His breathing is really compromised but the doctor isn't at all concerned about it. I can't put him horizontal or even propped up as the wheezing gets much worse so I'm stuck holding him upright whilst he sleeps. Lovely cuddles but I really need to finish my tax return Confused

Strawberryfield12 · 27/01/2015 11:28

Oh thisis :( hope he gets better soon. Our DD has been getting very blocked nose last two nights and we cannot clean it out properly not even with saline and aerator. Upsetting even though she is nowhere near as bad as you DS, big hug to you.

amy83firsttimer · 27/01/2015 11:46

BCG done. Poor baby!

Any tips on moving bedtime earlier than 9.45?
We currently eat our dinner at around 7.30 then feed DS then at about 9 put him in sleeping bag and feed again.
Having said written it out I need to move dinner to 7 and then he might get in sleeping bag at 8.30 and then last feed upstairs could mean I'm done for 9? Now if someone could let him know that's the plan please! Wink

Thisisimpossible · 27/01/2015 14:24

Thanks Strawberry, I hope your DD's blocked nose clears up soon too. The snot suckers are great - do you have one of those as well as the saline and aerator? My cousin sent me one at the weekend and it couldn't have been timed better. This is the one she sent me: Nosefrida

It's really helped with clearing his nose after using the saline for long enough for him to feed.

anna I feel for you! I am very glad to have no visitors today. The kitchen is a tip, I am surrounded by used tea mugs, a cereal bowl, baby paraphernalia and a mucous filled snot sucker. Glamour, glamour, glamour!

moggle · 27/01/2015 14:26

amy We put DD down in her bednest at about 7.30-8 usually, after a feed. It then takes her at least an hour, sometimes two, to fall asleep but as long as she has her dummy in she's happy just lying there chattering to herself. We do have to go up and down the stairs quite a lot during the first hour when she spits out the dummy a lot but can't complain really! We have a colour changing bunny lamp that we put in her line of sight on the bed and she seems to like that - a kind of poor man's Ewan I reckon!!
