Oops... I'm 31. Baby brain or denial Grin

I've been lurking on the post natal thread for a while but posted regularly on the pregnancy one. Have gleaned lots of helpful advice during my lurking & you have all helped to keep me sane.

DS was born on 26th September, exactly 2 weeks late by emcs. He was 9lb9oz at birth which was 91st centile. When I had him weighed 2 weeks ago he was 14lb8oz & 75th centile.

DS was much longed for after 2 miscarriages & 2 years of trying. Can't wait to have the next one. DS is a very good baby which is probably why I'm so keen to have another. Next one will probably be the complete opposite!

I'm 36 & we live in Lincolnshire. I work in insurance & am going back to work on 1st July.

Interesting fact - I was the official flower girl when the queen opened out local hospital when I was 10 having just had my tonsils out!

SparklyReindeerShit · 10/01/2015 23:24

Ah we're further north than you Fate, closer to Yorkshire border along the M1 Smile

Can't believe you've never watched lion king! ShockGrin I bought it for me the dc after spending years loving it as a child myself. Was quite surprised how much I remembered of it.

Loved weekend tv like little house, dr Quinn, waltons etc.
Loved that era and films such as fried green tomatoes?

CumbrianExile · 11/01/2015 00:38

Ooh, its good getting to know a little more about you ladies Smile

Aidan is DC1, 19 weeks on Wednesday, born on his due date. He was 13lb13oz two weeks ago, which I think was on the 9th centile, as he as been since he was born so not too worried.

I am 34 and live in Greater Manchester. Work in IT, and will be going back in June sometime but havent given it too much thought yet. Hoping to have another DC sometime in the future, but as for when..that is a good question haha.

Interesting fact - I used to play darts for a local pub team. Gave it up when my friend left, but used to really enjoy it and might look and see if the team are still going to get a night out Grin

Little Robert was born 22nd Sept 2 days early, he is my first and I was induced. Very easy quick birth. I EBF him.

Weight when born was 8lb 9.

He was weight at 14 weeks and weighed 17lb.

I'm 35 and a oil & gas engineer and I'm returning to work in July P/T 2 days a week

I live in NE Scotland

We want 1 more child and will Prob think about trying at start of 2016.

Interesting facts.

I compete at dressage with my horse & I'm also very big into fast sportbikes. Me & my husband spent a lot of time on our motorbikes, that will change now though seems we have a baby.

holls2000 · 11/01/2015 07:06

ella thank god someone else does tbe tv marathon thing. I used to mark the start of holidays by watching a box set over 3 days under duvet in pjs. dh would get v cross but it was my way of chilling out.

Honeybear30 · 11/01/2015 07:48

We've had an awful night here, not sure if it's teeth or a cold but I've been woken every hour and had baby in bed with me in the end. :(

DS is four months, born 7th sept, 3 weeks early. He was 7lb 11oz, 50th percentile and had steadily increased to the 98th. He is big! Already looking at new car seats because his head is getting near the top of the cabriofix.

He is ds1 for us and we'd like at least one more. I seem to be younger than everyone else at 26. We live in the SE and I may or may not go back to work. Undecided.

Interesting fact. Hmmm. I usually use the one that I am a Beaver Leader. Although someone else said Guides so perhaps not that unusual. Most people tend to be surprised when I say though!

KitKat1985 · 11/01/2015 09:13

Oh okay interesting fact. Really I'm quite boring. I was in the arcade on Eastbourne pier when it caught fire last summer (it was my birthday outing)! Two minutes before smoke came into the arcade I turned to DH and said "can you smell smoke?" to which DH said "no". Was another couple of minutes still before fire alarms went off. Moral of the story: A pregnant woman's nose is more effective than a fire alarm system. One hour later where we standing (playing the 2p machines - big spenders us!), was burnt to a crisp.

KitKat1985 · 11/01/2015 09:14

I'm curious where you are now Honeybear as I'm in East Sussex!

Honeybear30 · 11/01/2015 09:28

Ah ok kitkat I will be more specific, Kent :)

Love your interesting fact. I never got the uber sense of smell when pregnant.

TeamEponine · 11/01/2015 10:36

DD has her first cold Sad We've given her calpol and saline drops. Any other hints?

So, info...

DD was born 16th sept by ELCS as she was breech. She was 7 lb. She is our first and planned as an only.

We live in Surrey. I'm 36 and I was planning on returning to work in the summer ft, but I'm now discussing returning pt with work.

Something interesting... I'm really not that interesting! Usually I'm a real book worm, but since having DD I've read precisely 14 pages of a book. but about 14,000 pages of MN and other baby related web pages I'm also quite a committed chocoholic, so going dairy free for DD's digestive issues is a real sign of how much I love her! Grin

TeamEponine · 11/01/2015 10:38

Oh, Ella, I'm another box set binger. On to season 8 of Grey's Anatomy since becoming a mummy. Not sure what to do next, but may watch West Wing again as I did love that.

lilone1234 · 11/01/2015 10:43

Honey - I'm 26 too!

Kitkat - I loved Eastbourne pier arcade. Eastbourne was where we went for every summer holiday growing up (got very tedious as a teenager!) and was very sad when the pier burnt down.

Topsyloulou · 11/01/2015 10:45

Team we've been using the baby version of vapour rub on DS chest & back every night & that seems to help. We didn't use it last night as we were late home & he's woken up snuffly again today.

RedToothBrush · 11/01/2015 11:47

I recommend baby vapour drops in hot water in your room when going to sleep.

I have just started on the DVDs tbh. I have watched just about everything on Iplayer and 4OD. I love documentaries so have acquired vast knowledge during pregnancy and since DS has been born.

OP posts:
FATEdestiny · 11/01/2015 12:32

Being on the pier when the first started is a cool fact, it's definitely something you'll remember forever.

I'm loving reading all these little bits about everyone.

Nazly · 11/01/2015 12:45

Team how interesting; where in Surrey?
I was also a book worm; I have also switched to pregnancy/baby webpages and books :( miss some very me time now...

How do you get to watch dvds ladies? Ds only sleeps 35-40 min at a time and very rarely enters the second cycle of sleeping- when he is awake he may or may not allow me to catch on with various houseworks in 5-10 min intervals; but no way I could concentrate on watching anything....

In other news: we had our first ever sleep through the night here; (8:30 to 6am; then wide awake but left in his cot babbling with white noise until he dropped and woke at 8:45 then) - it may well be a one of but I am happy regardless ...

Nazly · 11/01/2015 12:50

Oh and Team, I bought a vaporiser (Vicks) for about £30 which we have used every night for more than a month now regardless of whether he has cold or not; it is fab - winters are dry when you have central heating system, so using a vaporiser will keep the room humid enough and will help small babies breath more easily and this is specially helpful when they are poorly...

holls2000 · 11/01/2015 12:53

team I was also a book worm. however read NOTHING after ds was born. then he started sleeping better so I go to bed at 9.30/10ish to READ. it is bliss.
also love Greys and a bit confused as seem to have lost half of series 11 on sky+ which has thrown me.
on west wing - I am v much in love with Josh Lyman.

we bought a smart tv and so I have watched a lot of stuff on amazon prime it has been totally worth the £79 for a year. Smile

holls2000 · 11/01/2015 12:54

nazly I generally have stuff on in the background....noise for ds if im out of the room and stupidly feels like company.

TeamEponine · 11/01/2015 13:03

I have to also admit to having a bit of a crush on Josh! Blush

DD will only sleep on me, so a 45 minute nap is perfect for an episode.

RedToothBrush · 11/01/2015 13:05

We have a kitchen/lounge which makes life so much easier. I can do house work whilst looking after DS and watching tv. Its a bad habit but I rarely just watch tv without doing something else anyway. I agree with holls about it being good company.

OP posts:
Honeybear30 · 11/01/2015 13:16

Also using tv for company here, on greys season ten. What do I do when it finishes?! We have a lounge/kitchen to which massively helps. And a lot of the time I'm only half watching.

KitKat1985 · 11/01/2015 14:07

During my pregnancy (too exhausted to move from sofa in eves) and the early evenings spent cluster feeding in the first few weeks of DD's life, I got through every episode of Lost (I know, I know, it's like years old but I only just got around to it). After 6 gripping seasons I was so disappointed by the ending.
