Ew, you mean the actual MN Vikings, Frus? Jeesh, yeah, they suck butt. Always have! Throw it out with the rubbish Wink

The only thing that my kids will pay attention to for more than 5 minutes is the TV Blush There's been a lot of that already this winter. I'm such a mean mummy because I hate crafts stuff. I hate cleaning it up. I'm so not a fan of playdoh or painting. So messy! I'm not a crazy clean person, but I think that because it just leaves a mess everywhere it drives me INSANE. That's what they do at school! I'll leave them to do it there.

Agnu, I would definitely let them know that you'd like to know more of what your little guy is doing with his day. You have every right to that. Drop in. Be a squeaky wheel. It's your kid, you deserve to know EXACTLY what he does and who he does it with during the time there! We get daily sheets about what M does in her toddler class. Like what Lor said, it's got wet/dirty nappies, what and how much she ate, how long she slept, and the various things they worked on. I love them and I've saved nearly everyone, even from when DS1 was there!

Not as cold today. Got about 3 inches of snow instead. I hung up a giant insulated curtain in front of the door to try to keep the warm air in the house and the cold air out. Hoping it'll work. Feels like we're holed in though as all the blinds are down and the curtains are pulled in attempts to keep the house warm! You can totally feel the temp change in the room when we open the blinds/curtains. an on-going battle all the time with this old house.

peardrop2 · 08/01/2015 23:28

Frus ~ I have but ages a go so thanks for the reminder as he might actually be into that now!

So, I'm up late because I'm finally laying eggs hurrah. Not excited at all though and feeling extremely calm and not desperate at all. Really looking forward to just drifting and not paying much attention to any symptoms in the next two weeks as if Wink

Ha oh my goodness pear you seriously had me giggling when I read "I'm finally laying eggs". Fingers crossed for you, m'dear.

kittykatsforever · 09/01/2015 07:25

Yeay pear we will obsess with you! Do you have your legs in the air?
Agnu tiger is at the same pre school where she went to nursery, the nursery used to write sheets/ learning journal etc but they don't now she's in the pre school section so I don't think that's not normal, I think it's aimed to be more like school but they do do a hand over when I pick her up and tell me she's been ok, what she's eaten and what she's played with so that's not unreasonable to ask

AGnu · 09/01/2015 09:48

I feel like a dreadful parent. ---- Calf's only learnt the name of one child, the one who was hitting & shouting when we visited, & his one sentence about said child is "he's not going to shout today, is he?" As much as he seems to love going there, I hate that I'm sending him somewhere where he's scared someone will shout. Add to that Runt's tears at leaving Calf there, & for the 40 minutes since, excluding 5 minutes he was eating a biscuit, & I feel awful that I'm putting him through this too! It was bad enough when I woke up that I felt mean waking them & was struggling with the concept of having to fit in with someone else's timetable & not just turn up if/when we felt like it! Would it be awful to quit after just 3 sessions?! Blush Would probably have major tantrums from Calf if I did that though!

kittykatsforever · 09/01/2015 14:35

It's up to you to do what you think is best but it's not a bad thing that he's getting a taste for other children even if there behaviour was bad or always bad I don't think ours are all saints all the timeWink
Plus if you are putting him in a mainstream school then it's good he's getting prepared. Plus your biggest battle in my mind is that he enjoys it! I have to prise tiger from our legs and she only goes 1.5 days a week Hmm she will be full time in August at school. Kitten misses her too but they do get used to it as with everything and on my afternoon with just kitten I use it to do something with her that I can't do with both so we have a swimming lesson as in our pool you can only take 1 under 5 per adult. Personally I think it would be a real shame if you didn't give it abit longer then 3 sessions as with anything new there's a period of adjustment but at the end of the day it does just come down to what you want to do

kittykatsforever · 09/01/2015 14:39

You don't have to take them in at a specific time you know, I often take in tiger later or pick up early, it's free and it's up to you but what would you do. Would you not work to a day time frame if you were home schooling?

bringonthetrumpets · 09/01/2015 15:13

I'm with kitty in that of course it's entirely up to you... but I would keep going. It has only been 3 sessions. From an adult's perspective, I suck at remembering names so as a little kid with a limited vocabulary, names would be really hard! I think it's a lesson we have to learn early in life that there are people out there that we have to deal with even though we don't like them or they drive us crazy. It's a part of learning socialization and becoming a member of society. This could be a really good point for you to speak with Calf about how we express how we're feeling when someone does something we don't like, talk to him about how he can talk to this child who is shouting to let them know that he doesn't like it and to "please stop". Teaching kids to express the feelings that they are experiencing (especially to boys!) is a really healthy tool for them to use in life as they work on different relationships. You gotta push through that guilt because otherwise it will follow you with every decision you make as a parent and trust me, the older they get the harder the decisions we have to make for them will only get harder. Own up to your decisions and remember why you signed him up in the first place Wink

peardrop2 · 09/01/2015 15:41

Kitty ~ yep, back to waving legs in the air days Blush

Agnu ~ I think Kitty and Bring have spoken wise words and I'm sure Runt will soon work out the pros for having you on his own soon enough! Oh and I'm sorry my previous advice about a daily diary probably wasn't actually correct as I was thinking you were talking about Runt and not Calf. As Kitty said I would imagine at Calf's age you find out less about their day (unless you spoke to their teacher). That's certainly the impression I get from my friends with pre school children.

Urgh. I nearly didn't have a child to send to preschool anyway... Calf was supposed to be playing quietly in his room but was a bit too quiet. Assumed he'd gone to sleep so went to wake him up again. His door was slightly ajar & all was quiet & still in his room, except for the curtains billowing at the wide open window... I swear I stopped breathing & every worst case scenario flashed through my mind in the time it took me to cross the landing... He was asleep in the corner of his bed. Apparently the locking mechanism on his window is broken & he can climb on top of his low radiator to reach it! We've had words about climbing on radiators & opening windows. I can't be in the same room as him or I might actually crush his little ribs with hugging him too tight! I still feel sick & shaky & haven't managed to get dinner ready. They're watching TV so don't seem bothered by delayed food. Am waiting for DH to get home & locate his glue gun... It's taking all my self control not to go up there with plywood & nails & board the whole window up! I'll keep sending him to preschool - they have nice high windows... At least he'll be safe there! Hmm

peardrop2 · 10/01/2015 15:02

Can I ask the second/3rd time mummies a fun question please? What do you have to buy for the second baby? I was just having a chat with DH and we were saying that surely we've got everything for dc2? He mentioned a pram but I would imagine that if bpear was nearly 3 when dc2 arrived then surely he would have outgrown the pram by then. Anyway, I'm interested to hear your opinions on the matter and whether you still had a big shopping list before dc2/3 arrived? and I want to day dream about it Wink

Hello! Just popping in to say Hi. Had the D&C yesterday, helped greatly by the massive quantities of Gas and Air they let me have, feel surprisingly ok now, some mild cramping but nothing that a large G&T can't touch. Love to you all x

peardrop2 · 10/01/2015 21:24

Aww Lib that sounds really painful and scary Hmm. You brave girl! Thanks

OP posts:
bringonthetrumpets · 10/01/2015 23:58

Aww Lib. I just want to reach out and give you a giant hug and some cake and tea and just sit with you. My heart really goes out to you and your DH during this time.

For second kiddo.... we didn't know what flavor he was until he was born and since I had DS1 in the UK, I gave his clothes away before I moved so we had to start over fresh with #2. But we got a double Phil and Ted's stroller and that was by far the best investment we've ever made as parents. We used it all the way up to when the wheel broke- which was last autumn! I agree with Frus though in that you definitely know what you don't need!

Ugh is right agnu! Those damn boys! Always getting into trouble. My heart was in my throat just reading your message. Hope you're okay after all that!

M is puking again but she doesn't seem sick other than puking. I'm starting to wonder if it's something she's eating? Oh... and we are officially weaning this weekend. Sad It's been 36 hours since her last feed (which resulted in puke all over the place) and she hasn't asked for it. Kind of a bittersweet moment.

peardrop2 · 11/01/2015 06:40

Bring ~ The double Phil and Ted stroller seems very popular over here too. I know what I won't be buying...a 'bugaboo donkey' as that thing is ridiculously wide, I'd probably have many accidents pushing it! Have you been thinking about weaning for a while? That leaves me as the last bus bf Blush I really can't believe I'm still going. I've heard that some people dry up as soon as they get pregnant...bpear would be fuming if that happened however I'm not worried as now we have the option of lots of food bribes that I'm sure he will quickly love more like oat bars and strawberry treats Grin

OP posts:
bringonthetrumpets · 11/01/2015 16:19

Yeah, contemplating it for a couple of months pear. I feel sad that we didn't go as long as DS2 did but she is so obsessed with putting her hand down my shirt and for some reason I am so much more sensitive when I ovulate than I was when nursing the other two boys. It hurts for a week, I get the the point where I can't even handle her latching on b/c it's so sensitive and painful and she gets really upset because I really don't want to feed her during that week of sensitivity. I get super anxious and just can't wait for her to be done and go to sleep... it's a really frustrating time. I think she could tell that I didn't want to anymore and she would get really violent with me (head butting and scratching and hitting). So I'm kind of glad in a way that I don't have to deal with that anymore. She still hasn't asked for it (and also her violent behavior has gone down a lot!) and I've only been expressing a little out in the evenings when it gets to the point of being painful so my supply is going down quickly. She was still sick last night and puked again 5x and just had a bit of water before bedtime. It's just time. We still cuddle a lot. My baby is growing up! time for another one

Some women do dry up when they're pregnant, but some are able to still nurse through and go on to tandem feed. Sometimes toddlers don't like the way the milk tastes when it changes back to colostrum towards the mid-to-end stage of pregnancy and they self-wean. Just depends on what's mutually right for you both.

Oh yeah, those pushchairs are super popular here too! Our double was our saving grace. I'd like to say that making a 3 year old walk is a great idea but sometimes you just want them to STFU and quit dawdling and stop running away and get over here NOW and STFU again. So, yeah, we definitely stuck our boys in the damn pushchair and get the F out of there sometimes. Grin

Bring ~ hahhah yes I can imagine really wanting bpear to sit and be quiet. He really doesn't like it now though so I don't think it will get easier. The only way I managed to get him in on our walk today was to bribe him with food. I'll probably have more luck investing in a buggie board. Anyway, I'll still look for one so I know what to pick when the time comes Smile Ooooo that sounds painful. I am fortunate that bpear doesn't hurt me but his wandering hands can get v annoying. In my head I've said I'll call it a day at 2 years old. I would like to wean the morning one first so that I can get a proper lie in and DH would take him downstairs right away once a week...that would be nice.

Frus ~ it just looks odd to me to see such an old child in a pram
