We were given a large bottle of Baileys for Christmas... Alcohol doesn't agree with me but I still considered sneaking it in the suitcase! PIL are genuinely lovely people, just a rather traditional family & I struggle to adjust. I thought my family were quite a traditional dynamic until I met them! Sometimes I feel quite grateful we don't have both genders - they'd get treated very differently here!

Calf woke up just as we were going to bed. His room was freezing & he had a potentially croup-like cough so brought him into our room & gave him medicine. He insisted on sitting up in our bed for 2 hours. DH snored softly until I'd had enough & kicked him until he took Calf back to bed.

MIL served egg mixed with cream & topped with thick rich cheese for breakfast. I've had to excuse myself & am now hiding in bed hoping I'm not about to vomit. It would've made a good starter for an evening meal but was far too rich for me at breakfast time, especially when I've been up half the night & my sore throat is making queasy anyway. Feel like I need to gag all the time. More family arriving soon so I'm grabbing some solace where I can!

Hope you feel better soon Bring! Oh, & I'm with Frus on the playdough issue - icky stuff!

Agnu ~ now I'm craving baileys!!! I've not had that in years!! Maybe I should treat myself to a little bottle tomorrow night Wink

Is anyone else's routine completely gone out the window? I'm bf at 8:35pm Shock oops! DH even told me off today for my wild laid back schedule this week. I've got no excuse as we haven't even been visiting family or anything lol The thing is it has meant that I've had a few lie ins which I can't say I've not LOVED! When I say lie in I mean 7am Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 31/12/2014 04:48

Yes, we are completely out of sorts this week as well. DH has been home from work so we've been sleeping in until 8, just lounging around (being sick has definitely kept us in the house), and eating whenever/whatever. It's been a very laid-back holiday. Finally feeling a bit more with it today, thank god.

Having some friends over tomorrow night on our first sober NYE. Celebrating the new year with some root beer. Woo.

Happy new year everyone
I was in alone, not rock and roll anymore! Dh at work and just couldn't be bothered to go dsis as I worked the day
Routines always go to pot at Xmas but if you've had a nice lie in pear then why not, you never know he may start sleeping till that time when you start creeping earlier?! Mine are never In bed til 7 at the earliest and it's usually more like 7:30
We've had a great Xmas overall though although the kids are now expecting chocolate every dayConfused
Any update lib? When is your next scan? Have you told family yet?

bringonthetrumpets · 01/01/2015 15:54

Happy new year, ladies! You all have been my sounding board and support through some truly crazy and stressful times in my life over the past year. Even though we know each other only through our internet identities, I feel like I know you all and that you are all actually a part of my life

peardrop2 · 01/01/2015 19:19

Bring ~ happy new year to you too! I hope you had a sober smug face on this morning Grin Your evening sounds like a laugh. Quick question... Have you ever heard a link between mouth ulcers and ovulation?

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 01/01/2015 19:20

Oops pressed send too soon. It's just that this is the second time I've got mouth ulcers prior to ovulation window. Wondered if that was normal. I am feeling stressed and run down post Christmas though!

Hmmm.... I have heard of a anecdotal link between menstruation and having a herpes outbreak that we recommended she work off of a diet that is high in lysine and low in arginine. So it would very well be a hormonal link for you as well, just in a different way. Stress and diet are always things that can cause them too. Ouch, I hope it clears up for you!

I wish we had smug sober faces. We just woke up with snot-covered faces and dry throats from mouth breathing all night Hmm. So attractive

Thanks bring. I'm calming myself with a glass of wine. Everyone needs to slap me with a bus fish to keep me calm this month. I am NOT allowed to get TTC excited Wink

Frus ~ Wow! He's a fashion expert already!! No we don't have that yet thank goodness! My patience is thin enough just waiting for him to walk down the stairs step by step Wink

Kitten goes down feet first on her tummy like a slide lol the stair gate is gone, it was more danger then help in the end!
Mine are both fashion devas frus tiger from about 2-2.5 would only wear pink, this has expanded to pink or things with bunnys or matching kitten, she likes that too this has in turn rubbed

kittykatsforever · 03/01/2015 13:50

To soon
Rubbed off on kitten who hates getting dresses anywaybut will demand certain shoes or kick and fight and pull then off as with hair clips ( she now likes the frozen ones Hmm)

peardrop2 · 03/01/2015 14:48

Tbh I didn't even think about teaching bpear to go down on his tummy or his bum. That would have been safer. Hah hah in such a PFBM!

OP posts:
bringonthetrumpets · 03/01/2015 16:14

I'm a-ok with M going down the stairs on bum or feet-first, but DH is terrified of letting her do it and will always carry her. We still have to use the gate at the bottom of the stairs as M will try to go up and get into things on her own whenever possible.

She's not really into what she's wearing yet, but she will not leave any hair bows in. She peels her socks off when given the chance but will always ask to put on a shoe. DS1 is very particular and likes to wear button-down shirts with collars and khakis. DS2 is all about anything involving LFC and I have to wrestle him into something that isn't treckie bottoms and a jersey.

Ding-dong the colds are gone! Huzzuh!

peardrop2 · 03/01/2015 16:48

Yay! Cold free house Smile

We never bothered getting a stairgate at the bottom of the stairs because bpear isn't interested in leaving our side long enough to climb the stairs! Not to say that one day we will have to get one!

Hi ! Sorry I haven't been around. Happy new year and things.

We've had a lovely Christmas and trip down to Somerset to see the in laws too.

Bring sounds like you've had a really tough time of late. Hope you're doing ok.

I've kind of half caught up in everything. We don't have stairs in ours so DS gets little practice. He used to go down on his tummy feet first but in MIl he was going down on his bum. Have to keep a keen eye on him though as he'll try and walk down at first but can't do it and would fall badly if we let him.

AGnu · 03/01/2015 21:36

Urgh. 4 days at PILs, in which time I developed a cold & lost my voice, & one night sleeping on my aunt's sofa before going to a funeral - Not the most entertaining New Year ever! Home now & slowly recovering but my sinuses are so painful! Sad I went to bed at 8.50pm on NYE!

I'm feeling distinctly like PILs don't think much of me as a mother or a wife. DH & FIL went off to visit DH's Grandma FIL's treatment of her is yet another thing I could rant about for a loooong time & on the way FIL struck up a conversation about home-ed. Basically he was concerned that by HEing I would be taking on too much & so DH would have to do more & it'd be too much for him. A few other things he said made me feel rather inadequate. They're a stereotypical 1950s couple & I'm just not that sort of wife/mother. Add to that FILs ability to lecture for hours on any given subject & my tendency to forget my own name when put on the spot & clearly PILs are just going to think I'm thick/lazy! I'm feeling quite down/insecure about it now. Doesn't help that FIL overheard me talking to DH about what I planned to get him for his 30th & then offered to buy it for him & seemed surprised that I'd put thought into it & researched it! Hmm Yes, DH could get a higher quality one if FIL bought it but that's not the point!
