Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GwenaelleLaGourmande · 13/01/2015 23:08

I was about to say the same thing piggy

What now? :o

Ok. My 3yo came back from school with two scabby hands, a visibly bust nose, a bump on the forehead and two bloody knees. Said her bf had pushed her over.

Fine. Accidents happen. But wibu to expect a short explanation in her book from teacher? She's 3 and her explanations are not always very clear. Do I ask teacher how it happened when she says she has been pushed? I can post pictures on fb it is grazes but if she didn't just fall then should I know? And shouldn't they leave a note to say she fell anyway?

She is fine. But she's 3. I need to know what happened from someone other than her, right?

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/01/2015 03:39

gg yes an explanation in her book is the least I'd expect in that situation. DD1 came back from school today with a warning having bitten another child. First time we've had any incidents at school.

Baby A been crying on and off for past 4 hrs. He seems very uncomfortable and nothing I am doing is soothing him. I'm trying not to think about reflux. It wouldn't show up this early would it? His tummy is quite gurgly and windy. Perhaps it's just that. He was absolutely fine till I took him upstairs.

BigPigLittlePig · 14/01/2015 08:04

Perhaps he's just unsettled at having food in his belly - a new experience for him?

YellowWellies · 14/01/2015 09:07

Eliza Lil was refluxing on day one, it didn't upset her though but she had a couple of blue baby incidents. I cut dairy and soy on day five and it pretty much stopped it, she's so settled and content now.

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/01/2015 09:45

Thanks. looks like I had better cut out dairy and soya then. was hoping to avoid that but that is better than many more nights like. Perhaps I'll give it one more night. Typically he has been asleep since 7am. Going to have a cup of tea and jump in the shower. See if that makes me feel normal!

GwenaelleLaGourmande · 14/01/2015 10:10

I got an explanation this morning :)

New baby is a big thing for your DD1 and 2 eliza I bet she was acting out due to that I wouldn't worry.

YellowWellies · 14/01/2015 12:01

Eliza it might not be the issue but I know cutting it out totally from the day I left hospital has resulted in the most chilled out easy baby who feeds happily, is awake happy, poos happy, sleeps happy (11-7 every night with no wake up!) and is gaining weight well. We had no colic and I've only heard her really cry a handful of times ie jags and the toddler dropping stuff on her. Its so different. Shock

FructoseTart · 14/01/2015 12:03

I've just copied this from my post but would like your input...
I've just had DD weighed. She is 2 years 2 months. She is measuring on the 91st centile for weight currently. The last time I had her weighed at 12 months she was 50th. Her height at 1yo was 9th centile, it is now 75th centile. HV has told me to put DD on a diet?!! and as DD had a massive tantrum has referred me to go to parenting classes without my permission. Wtaf!! This is my 2nd child, I know what I am doing and have Another on the way. Also she has said she would like to come and visit me at my house AGAIN...aibu if I told her to forget it after she has made me feel like I'm doing something wrong?!

GwenaelleLaGourmande · 14/01/2015 12:14

Bloody hell fructose that sounds like overkill on her part. I personally don't believe in diets at that age or even quite a bit older unless you are feeding her full of junk, which I doubt. And a tantrum leading to parenting classes? Wtf? I'd complain.

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/01/2015 13:30

Thanks yw he has fed and slept like a dream since 7am this morning. Did do a massive poo prior so that could have been an issue. If it was bad reflux he'd have it day and night surely? Although it was not so long a go that E was a newborn it's amazing how much you forget. And become unsure of!

fructose that sounds tough. and completely over the top.

TheRealGracePoole · 14/01/2015 18:59

fructose on the surface it does sound over the top. I assume you would Know if your child was looking like they needed to cut down what they are eating. I suppose though we are all very quick to cristicise HVs etc when they don't notice there is something wrong and so maybe they can sometimes err on the side of caution. IME the more support and guidance we can get the better, I have had 4 children but still things take me by suprise or someone throws a curved ball. Try to take it with an open mind. Thanks

Glad you got an explanation gg school are pretty good about Ds1 coming home after an accident, usually there is a report and a start for being brave!

Oh eliza I have now gone back to normal my gooeyness from yesterday a distant memory! I don't envy you. Try not to think of you experience with E, they are all so different. He is just trying to co muni ate with you about something!

We are in the throws of a major storm here, the wind really is whistling about the house and I couldn't light the fire in the playroom this afternoon as it whipped down the chimney. I have spent the afternoon on re the stove prepping some of the stuff for the weekend. Wheaten bread, the chicken and chorizo casserole as well as all the regular stuff. Tomorrow afternoon is baking, lemon drizzle cake and shortbread (to go with the lemon sylabub I thank you pikz I think it was who said sylabub and someone else said something lemony. There you have it. A dessert!

BigPigLittlePig · 14/01/2015 19:21

Can we have chicken and chorizo recipe Grace? Sounds yum Smile

Wind also howling here, we are waiting for dh to get home in front of the fire, and tea is in the oven.

When i collected F from nursery I had a conversation with her key worker, K, that went like this.

K: "so do you listen to the macarena at home?"
Me: Blush "erm sometimes maybe it comes on"
K: "only it was on a cd today, and F leapt into the middle of the room, shouting 'look body body' and did the dance perfectly"
Me: Blush Blush Blush Blush

TheRealGracePoole · 14/01/2015 19:40

Of course bp I will out it on fb when I have got through the ironing pile. Xx

Passmethecrisps · 14/01/2015 20:40

Love you all

be back soon.

I lost you it has been so long since I posted.

BigPigLittlePig · 14/01/2015 21:35

Outrageous Pass. Good to see you back missis Smile

isles7 · 15/01/2015 07:12

Just been informed by a reliable source cough, my toddler that the man in the moon is actually called Dave?!?

Hi pass

YellowWellies · 15/01/2015 07:38

Our postman is called Dave. Jonas has changed the postman Pat lyrics accordingly!

Lily311 · 15/01/2015 09:04

Everyone is Pete in this house. The postman, all my male friends. And all the small babies we meet are called baby Pete. We know only one person with this name.

I've either caught the tummy bug or stress is taking its toll, I have thrown up my coffee this morning and have had stomach ache since yesterday. Hate the feeling. Any remedies you can recommend?

TheRealGracePoole · 15/01/2015 09:35

I always keep Molkasan Vitality in the house for incidents such as that lily however, failing that try to dink lots of water and keep yourself hydrated. Peppermint tea as well usually calms the stomach. Hope you feel better soon. Xx

bp don't worry, I am not still under the pile of ironing, I just didn't get round to it last night, I will try today! Xx

Elizadoesdolittle · 15/01/2015 09:48

I am up, showered, with clean hair and wearing clothes suitable for the outside world, just! Shock

May attempt school pick up later. It's DD1'S birthday and I think she'd like her baby brother to be there at school.

GwenaelleLaGourmande · 15/01/2015 11:46

Wow Eliza you are awesome!

BigPigLittlePig · 15/01/2015 12:33
Elizadoesdolittle · 15/01/2015 12:57

Blush I'm not!

Whilst A is dozing on me I will give you a quick run through of his birth story.

mild contractions started round 8:30pm. Went and had a bath and monitored them. Called midwife at 9:30pm and she said she'd come straight away. She arrived around 45mins later (she had to go via hospital to pick up the birthing kit). By the time she arrived contractions were more frequent but I could still breath through them. She did the basic checks downstairs and listened to babys heartbeat. By which time contractions were getting more painful so we moved upstairs to the bedroom so she could examine me. This was around 11:15pm and turned out I was 8cm dilated with waters bulging. The 2nd midwife turned up about 20mins later. I recall them discussing whether baby would be here before or after midnight. I said there was no way he'd be here before but I pushed him out at 12:03. Both girls slept through the whole thing and were delighted to meet their baby brother in the morning. Was pretty much exactly as I could have hoped for.

StuntNun · 15/01/2015 13:08

That sounds perfect Eliza. Congratulations again!

BigPigLittlePig · 15/01/2015 13:59

How exciting it must have been for them to discover a new baby in the morning! Sounds ideal eliza. And happy bday to dd1 Thanks
