We spent today alone. Just o and I. It was a good day for her, that matters most. Took her to the town centre and she run up and down for 3 hours than we drank hot chocolate and run some more. She is in bed now, thankfully.

Seeing my family tomorrow, not looking forward to it. I love them to bits but they are all so happy and my mood is nowhere near to theirs.

Hope the other quiche households have had a good day too .

BigPigLittlePig · 25/12/2014 20:27

Merry Christmas quiche xxx

Passmethecrisps · 25/12/2014 23:56

Nearly all over my lovely friends.

From the various FB updates it seems to have been a reasonable day for all. You were all in my thoughts but I was especially thinking of lily, chasing and isles along with thise in our number recuperating from illness, operations and losses.

Our day was relatively relaxed really. My parents' flat is small and there is little space for a bonkers 2yo so things were kept calm for practical reasons.

My granny is no longer fit to leave the house so my mum had to prepare a mini feast (to last several days) and take it to her which is a lengthy journey. Present opening had to be fitted around this so it was a touch rushed but everything went down well. We had that slightly disappointing but also actually rather nice thing that p was bought the same outfit from both sets of gp as they both felt it was so her. They are both right so it is lovely that they know her so well despite only seeing her infrequently.

My mum totally fibbed and dos not in any way shape or form stick to the £10 limit we were instructed to stick to. She did, however play a blinder and get us all perfect things including me another lovely dress from mela loves london - a brand she has never heard of and had no idea I wore but saw and thought it was 'very you'

P had a ball only really getting tearful immediately post present opening when it was all just too much and she essentially bawled her eyes out begging for ben and holly and give minutes quiet.

She went to bed beautifully telling me "I sleep now" but her little head was spinning. "I want counting!" My efforts to get her to count sheep got me nowhere so she joined us for blackadder and father ted. She was eventually persuaded to go to bed with requests for stories of ben and holly "with nanny pum and puppies"

Chilling now with wine and bond but am about to hit the sack.

Lots of love and festive kisses to all xx

YellowWellies · 26/12/2014 11:50

Oh Eliza! I didn't win the sweepstake. Boo! Wink

Wandathewindfairy · 26/12/2014 12:16

Phew. I am still in with a chance on about a week late! Wink

pass that sounds lovely actually. Photos of your dress please. I like Mela Loves London too.

gt hilarious! That made me laugh and laugh yesterday.

We had a very quiet day. The kids spent ages opening pressies, we pottered next door to inspect their pressies and then I opens mine at lunch time with some crackers, goats cheese , smoked salmon and prosecco. Another set of vouchers for the cookery school! Wahhay. And dH got me a thing for the kitchen drawer for my knives. (I hide my knives in their original boxes as they are quite nice and I don't want him wrecking the, by cutting things directly into plates and putting them in the dishwasher. So I thought that was quite thoughtful.) amount some other great smellies and vouchers for the seaweed baths and the spa.

We didn't eat till 3 and spent the evening slumped on the sofa with cheeses and more Prosecco and talked all the way through call the midwife and Downton.

Today.....round two. I had better get on with rearranging the leftovers for the PILs.

GwenaelleLaGourmande · 26/12/2014 14:31

The flu has areived in our house. DD1 since this morning, LO just coming down with it now.

Toddlers seem to shake it off ok ime but the two times I have had it as an adult have been horrific, so dreading being on my own with the girls and it next week.

Wandathewindfairy · 26/12/2014 16:41

That sounds pants gg try not to think about next week though and concentrate on now. Thanks

Lily311 · 26/12/2014 18:39

O got a rocking horse from my sister today. It's a second hand one, her daughter got it 9 years ago and my little girl just loves it, she went to bed so happily. She also said for the first time ever that she loved me, so overall a good end to a sad christmas.

Passmethecrisps · 26/12/2014 20:18

Aw lily. How lovely. What are you up to this evening? It sounds like your fantastic wee girl pulled it all together.

Fingers crossed for good health gg.

Elizadoesdolittle · 26/12/2014 23:23

gg sorry to hear of illness.

pass your Christmas sounds lovely.

lily what a lovely ending.

I've had such a lovely Christmas. Despite the girls being totally hyper they've been so good and has actually been relaxing. spent a lovely morning yesterday opening presents then round to the pil for Christmas dinner. We put the girls to bed there then spent the evening there and came home around 11pm. The pil bought the girls back around 11am this morning which was total bliss. Got to have tea in bed which was a luxury that hardly happens and certainly won't for a while.

Off to a good friends tomorrow afternoon/evening for a Christmas gathering which I'm really looking forward to. Birthing dependant of course!

GTbaby · 26/12/2014 23:24

H has been a Angry today. Tantrum after tantrum. I blame pil bring back! Throughout it all I kept thinking back to a cute Xmas day moment. H opened a gift. A set of toy cars. He demanded we open them. He takes both cars and walks over to A. And gives him one. So cute that he shared. He is going to be such a great big brother. Just need to sort out the tantrums. Blush

Lily311 · 27/12/2014 05:33

Once you finished gt, can you please sort the tantrums out here as well?

Wandathewindfairy · 27/12/2014 07:53

The one thing I do know is that the only thing that will sort out tantrums is time. Sad they get so overwhelmed they can't contain themselves and don't know how to suppress that. It must be quite scary really. And the other things about tantrums is each child needs a different approach. Some do need holding through it and reassuring, I find complete ignorance works better with mine, I tried the holding thing and it made it worse.

When they get older I call it the cross feeling in your tummy that you don't know what to do about. We all get that sometimes and so I empathise with DDs and they go to their room till it starts to subside.

Elizadoesdolittle · 27/12/2014 10:17

Yep agree with wanda. DD1 has come out of the tantrum phase but between the ages of 18 months to say 3 1/2 she had some awful ones. She still occasionally has one now and then at nearly 5 but it's a lot easier to deal with. Ignoring them works here too. E's the same. I just let them cry it out and flap around a bit and once they've got it out of their system we have a cuddle and all is forgotten.

GwenaelleLaGourmande · 27/12/2014 10:44

DD1 here also just out of the tantrum phase. It does pass. She occasionally throws one out of tiredness, but they are few and far between.

I generally ignore, then offer a big hug when they eventually stop for breath.

My little brother threw the most scary tantrums I have ever witnessed: he would bang his head on the floor til there was a bump on his forehead. Quite spectacular. And very frightening for my mum I would guess.

Lily311 · 27/12/2014 10:57

Just went out and bought a new wintercoat for O. She has either eaten too much or has grown a lot overnight but this morning I just couldn't zip it up on her. Thanks fuck for the sales.

StuntNun · 27/12/2014 18:46

J keeps asking for 'pisps'. He's had two bags already today and won't accept any other food. Confused

Wandathewindfairy · 27/12/2014 19:01

i am about to attempt Harry Potter without falling asleep Hmm

StuntNun · 27/12/2014 19:04

I can't stand Harry Potter, especially the last one where they spent the whole time camping.

GwenaelleLaGourmande · 27/12/2014 19:09

Love love love Harry Potter.

Quite a lot of calories in crisps stunt he won't starve. Make sure he drinks lots though so he doesn't wake up thirsty.

BigPigLittlePig · 27/12/2014 20:37

F is finally asleep after being spoiled rotten by nana and bamps. We are staying up with them for a few days, and Stunt, she has only eaten chocolate and banana bread since midday Blush so you are not alone.

Also had a coat disaster this morning. Dh was adamant he couldn't find Fs warm coat anywhere, swore blind he had looked etc etc. I was a proper stress head, anyway, long story short, it was literally hanging in full sight in our bedroom. Does anyone else have a totally useless object-hunter in their household?!

Hope the poxy and fluey ones are ok.
And hope the sad and struggling ones are ok too Thanks Thanks Thanks

BigPigLittlePig · 27/12/2014 20:38

Oh oh.

My db regifted all the HP books to the girls for part of their Christmas present - I am soooo looking forward to reading them!

Wandathewindfairy · 27/12/2014 22:02

Stayed awake and actually enjoyed it. I think is the first one I have seen all the way through apart from the first one. Whenever they are on I am usually busy with kids or so pooped drOm being busy with kids I just fall asleep.

Story of my life.
