Just wrote a long message on the old thread only to have it not post because we'd filled it.

We really ought to do less chatting and more sleeping Wink

Book glad she liked the crèche Smile We have had the letter to book in the three immunisations too but we aren't fully decided on what we are doing with the MMR. DP wants to have it done as separate jabs (although it would just be measles and rubella as there isn't a separate mumps vaccine) due to issues with a family member when she had the combined MMR. The issues were never proven to be connected to the MMR and I'm sure it's just a total coincidence but his whole family are freaking out about S having it. The only thing I'm concerned about is not being vaccinated against mumps as I don't know how much of a threat it is in childhood.

Naturegirl82 · 13/01/2015 20:35

Felix it is a very personal decision and you need to weigh up both yours and Dh's opinions. I had mumps as a child and I don't remember it being a pleasant experience at all.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 13/01/2015 20:51

On app, so have to post a few times as tiny brain retains only fractions of what I have read.

book I'm so sorry about your mum, how scary and horrid. I hope she recovers soon.
Not to make light in an inappropriate way fingers crossed but the PND craft session made me think of a scene in a book by Barbara Trapido (Brother of the More Famous Jack) where a whole load of depressed mothers have to do macrame together. It's blackly funny, so it made me laugh. Sorry Blush

felix Alex went through an annoying couple of days where standing in her cot was the thing to do. It passed quite fast, but was fecking irritating at the time. Sympathy.

million ooh, good luck with the job!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 13/01/2015 20:56

Next bit...

nature is your heating on timer? Alex usually wakes half an hour after the heating comes on. . Maybe a reason? Otherwise, she is just being a TB, although glad to hear she's more settled today, bet you need the rest!

fizzy WTAF? Such crapola. Ignore ignore and report her for being an arse

bamboo but cows milk is CHEAP! We are gradually switching g right now, and apart from worrying unnecessarily about how to carry around a small bottle of cows milk to top up the formula when out and about, it's easy and cheap! Go for it!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 13/01/2015 20:59

book (again, must learn to retain stuff long enough to RTFT) that sounds traumatic, poor P. And what a weird nurse.

MMR, god! How time flies. Soon they'll be getting that HPV vaccine (well, the girls will) and we'll wonder how they are teenagers!

My mum didn't give me the MMR, as I'd had rubella, so she had me tested for antibodies, and went with separate M and M jabs only. But then she is a nut who believes the Daily Fail and is generally a nutcase anyway Def agree it's up to each family what best suits.

Naturegirl82 · 13/01/2015 21:13

humpty I wondered about the heating but I'm pretty sure it doesn't come on that ridiculously early. If it does I've no idea why! I've been meaning to check the timer so will have to remember to do that before bed.

Naturegirl82 · 14/01/2015 08:39

Well this morning she slept till 6.30! Not sure if it was because I fed her just before bed or I changed the heating timer to come on earlier in case she was cold, or just because she isn't well but I much preferred that wake up time!

BookTart · 14/01/2015 08:49

I'm jealous nature it was 5.30 here. She woke at 9 and 2 as well, but Nurofen sorted her out. She's so unhappy after her jabs, with a fever and grizzling constantly Sad.I can't drag her up to see my Mum today. Mum will be so upset.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 14/01/2015 08:58

Hugs for book and nature. Early wake ups suck.

Naturegirl82 · 14/01/2015 09:08

book the jabs unsettling things is so annoying. Does that mean you won't be able to visit your mum today then? Has her reaction to these jabs been worse than the others?

Haha humpty I wish 6.30 was early but I get up for work before then so it was nice having a bit of time to get ready before she woke up!

TobyLerone · 14/01/2015 09:16

Is there anything I can do, book?

OP posts:
FelixFelix · 14/01/2015 09:34

Sorry she's not well Book. I hope you can manage to see your Mum.

S slept well last night. She woke up at 11pm and was awake and crying for around half an hour but I gave her teething granules and a bottle and shushed her back to sleep. Then she slept through until 7.30 Shock It has snowed here so we will be staying in today.

BookTart · 14/01/2015 13:00

Seriously jealous of 7.30 felix! That's like lunchtime here Envy

We're on the train now. P is very grumpy but currently napping in the buggy, although the gits that have just got on might put paid to that. And we met another little Persephone on the train! She was dead chuffed to meet a baby Percy Smile

Swannykazoo · 14/01/2015 14:11

Snow! - We went sledging as it was my mummy day yesterday - it was lovely though I was buggered after about 4 trips back up the hill hoiking little puggle + sledge.
Is anyone's TB having a cluster feeding phase? Little puggle has been renamed "the breast pest" in the last few days. It also means by 1pm at work I'm tapping my fingers desperate to go and express

AMillionNameChangesLater · 14/01/2015 22:25

Henry's jabs are on 27th. His sleeping is crap at the moment

FelixFelix · 15/01/2015 04:20

Ugh I am awake again. Up three times so far and she's been wide awake since 3.20. No idea why this keeps happening. I've given up trying to get her to sleep and we are downstairs watching bloody Baby Jake.

MerryPops · 15/01/2015 08:20

Oh Felix that is rubbish. Especially when you add Baby Jake into the equation. Unfortunately I have no practical advice but you have my sympathy!

Book how is your mum doing?

Crap day here. Dh is still really ill so I had to drop off A at nursery even though he's not 100% himself, then cancel my lunch plans with an old friend to go get A and take to my mums. Have to see if nursery can take A tomorrow morning too. All this and I think I am coming down with it as well Confused

Swannykazoo · 15/01/2015 08:28

Flipping heck - big Wine or [tea] to everyone with a sick or non-sleeping baby and esp to Book for tripping across London with a sick Mum. Saw the Jan 2015 group pop-up on active last night and did think -flip haven't we come far.....though if I thought I'd be still having this little sleep I'd have thrown myself into the river

TarkaTheOtter · 15/01/2015 09:16

I keep trying to catch up with this thread and not managing it so I have decided to just jump in instead!

I'd forgotten about mmr. When dd had hers she got a really alarming looking rash a week later. Apparently it's common as one of the components takes a week to kick in. So don't panic if a week/10 days after mmr it looks like baby actually has measles.

I swapped A's morning bf for cows milk today so haven't bf him since yesterday morning as I was only doing morning feeds the last week or so. Feel quite positive about it as TTC and still no periods so it feels like a step forward. Also have friends visiting this weekend and it means I can be totally off duty.

Bambooshoots14 · 15/01/2015 09:17

Ha ha puggle

nature partly because I want to make sure he's still getting enough vitamins and iron (although he does have a good diet so sure he'll be fine) but mostly because he's my little baby who isn't old enough for cows milk yet... Might start putting him in sleepsuits all day too. They are growing up far too fast. I want my little new born back. Although I'm enjoying the learning to speak thing as its so cute :)

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 15/01/2015 09:20

Tarka you're TTC? Mentalist! Grin Good luck.

book how's your mum today?

Dashing off as going to hospital for meeting about my complaint to them over my birth 'experience'. Really nervous...

TarkaTheOtter · 15/01/2015 09:26

Hope the meeting goes well humpty. Don't take any shit.

I feel like I'm at the point where I don't really even need sleep anymore. Grin

Naturegirl82 · 15/01/2015 10:38

I hope you didn't mind me asking bamboo just interested in what other people are thinking. The breastfeeding group I am part of there are some very anti cow's milk people on there. People mainly saying why would I want to give my child milk of another species! It's a bit much for me!

Has everyone else been advised by the HV to give vitamins? Ours mentioned it at the 12 month review. She also mentioned not to use children's toothpaste as it contains no fluoride (ours does so think she may be wrong on this) and just to use family toothpaste (although ours says not for under 7's!) Dh is going to check this with the dentist next week when he goes.

O's sleeping seems to have gone back to normal again, waking at 6.30 (with a face full of slot - lovely!) so I wonder if she was just starting to feel crummy, as she has a cough and a cold at the moment. Dh is also ill with a chest infection so I feel your pain Merry.

Good luck with TTC Tarka. Considering I have PCOS and a lack of ovulation I am surprised I managed to get pregnant again before my periods returned whilst still bf and expressing! So hopefully it will happen for you soon. It is very weird being back on the antenatal threads and going through all that worry again! I'm not sure I have fully accepted I am pregnant yet - the concept still feels very surreal to me! I'm sure it will feel more real when I start feeling movement again! You would think after two scans I might believe it!

Good luck for your meeting Humpty hope you get the outcome that you want.

MrsGSR · 15/01/2015 10:53

Haven't managed to catch up much, I'm really rubbish at staying up to date!

book hope your mum's doing ok :)

Our HV hasn't mentioned vitamins, but we signed up to the NHS email thing, and at 6 months they sent one saying that they recommend vitamins for breastfed babies, but if they're getting a certain amount of formula (might have been 300ml) each day then they'll get all their vitamins from that.

I've spoken to a couple of people about cows milk. Opinions seem to range from it's fine, to no humans should drink it at all Hmm
I think vitamins (especially vit D which is really hard to get from food, apparently 50% of adults in the UK are deficient in it) are the main concern. So either cows milk and vitamins, or formula. We're using formula as I can never remember to give the vitamin drops!

L has two bottles a day, then a breastfeed in the morning and evening (and sometimes through the night!). Not sure when I'm going to stop BF altogether.

Haven't heard anything about the MMR either, going down to Devon for L's birthday and my uncle's funeral, so I'll chase it up when we get back. How did you all arrange it?

Swannykazoo · 15/01/2015 12:26

We're ttc but to be honest its more TT DTD. Still Bfing like a dairy cow with no periods. Hated being pregnant, but would love to have wee ones of without a massive gap (and not getting any younger...)
